Most Effective Way To Start a Song

starting your songs with a vocal acapella is one of the most easy and powerful ways to start and build a song and in this video i'm going to show you why also stick around to the end of this video and i'm going to show you how to get the vocal that i'm using in this video completely free along with my brand new ambient vocals effects sample pack you do not want to miss out on this pack it's a banger let's jump into the video so i have my vocal acapella loaded up my project here and the magic about starting with a vocal acapella is that it gives you a structure to build your song on these vocals are labeled with a bpm and a key signature and they already have an arrangement so all we have to do is just fill in the blanks watch how easy this is i'm going to set my project to 128 beats per minute i'm gonna load up a nice patch with the wave table synth that's built in tableton live i made this beautiful patch the other day it's pretty fire [Music] let's listen to the vocal and catch a vibe i feel like i'm afraid to say how i feel to know i'll let you down i think we need more vibe i'm going to add some ott some echo and reverb but i don't wanna have your heart heart that's better now i'm gonna write some chords and we're gonna let the vocal a capella drive the emotion of the chord patterns now since we have the vocal i'm going to harmonize a bass line with that vocal then i'm going to build the chords on that bass line i feel [Music] like i feel like i'm afraid to say how i feel to know i'll let you down cause late nights turn the days don't wanna let you down once we have our base notes what we could do is copy them slide them five steps or seven semitones above that baseline and then complete the triad [Music] i think this will sound nice too if we run the tonic of this key signature which is the g key all the way through the entire chord pattern and if done correctly we should get this i feel like i'm afraid to say how i feel no no wait hold on hold on hold on echo reverb ott i feel like i'm afraid to say how i feel to know i let you down cause late nights turn the days don't wanna let you down that is delicious once the chords are finished all we have to do is arrange them for the entire length of the vocal and then use the arrangement of the vocal to add different instruments throughout the arrangement so we have a verse here a pre-hook here and then a hook here so i'm going to run drums for the length of this part of the vocal and then where the vocals start layering up and increasing in energy i'm gonna do whatever i gotta do to support that energy and my instrumental so let's add drums to this verse [Music] let's add some danciness to this verse by adding a nice funky baseline so i'm going to take the chords but i'm going to get rid of all the notes and just keep the bottom notes of the chords let's take these notes now and add a different rhythm [Music] we have a baseline we have drums and we have the chords so where do we go from here the vocal a capella layers up and increases in energy so i'm gonna open up my instrumental to match the energy of that vocal and how i'm gonna do that is i'm gonna stop the drums here i'm gonna stop the bass here and i'm going to layer the chords to give them a little bit more vibe here's the chords alone [Music] let's duplicate the chords [Music] let's change the rhythm of these chords just to add some dynamics to the i'm sound layer the chords again because layering is just so satisfying let's duplicate the chords [Music] i want to take that and start the song with it i think it'll do better there [Music] let's filter that and make it sound really inviting jackson reaver [Music] i'm gonna go into my new ambient vocal effects pack now and grab some ear candy and dress this little bead up [Music] yeah this one's it how's this for a world-class transition effect and just like that we use our vocal acapella to drive the direction of our arrangement [Music] you can have it [Music] i hope you guys enjoyed this video as i said earlier i just dropped a brand new ambient vocal effects sample pack it has over 30 game changing ambient vocals effects that add ear candy to any song as well as the vocal acapella that i used in this video i don't leave my free sample packs up very long so make sure you hit the description now and grab it
