WE WILL SEE YOU BACK HERE EARLY ON THURSDAY MORNING. >>> RIGHT NOW ON MORNING NEWS NOW, A HISTORIC CONVICTION. HUNTER BIDEN, THE PRESIDENT'S SON FOUND GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS. THE JURY REACHING THEIR VERDICT AFTER SEVERAL DAYS OF TESTIMONY IN JUST OVER THREE HOURS OF DELIBERATION P OR >> FOR US, IT IS NOT POLITICALLY MOTIVATED. >> WE HAVE TEAM COVERAGE OF THE VERDICT PLUS REACTION FROM PRESIDENT BIDEN AND WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. >>> SIGNS OF PROGRESS TOWARD THE CEASE-FIRE AS WE MARK 250 DAYS OF THE WAR IN GAZA. THE RESPONSE TO A UNITED STATES- BASED PLAN THAT WOULD FREE THE REMAINING HOSTAGES. >>> IT IS A LESSON OFTEN LEARNED OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM. LGBTQ+ FRESHMAN WORRIED ABOUT HITTING AND AT THEIR NEW SCHOOLS . MORE ON THE STRUGGLE, THE POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS AND HOW YOU CAN OFFER SUPPORT. >>> A DIFFERENT KIND OF HEARTBURN. THE RESEARCH LINKING HEAT EXPOSURE TO HEART HEALTH AND WHAT YOU CAN DO THIS SUMMER TO PROTECT YOURSELF. >>> MANY COMMENTS, WE WILL ADDRESS IN THE MEDICAL CHECKUP. GOOD TO HAVE YOU WITH US. I AM JOE FRYER. >> I AM SAVANNAH SELLERS. >>> WE BEGIN WITH THE CONVICTION OF HUNTER BIDEN. >> HE WAS FOUND GUILTY YESTERDAY OF THREE FEDERAL CHARGES OF USING DRUGS WHILE BUYING A GUN. THE CASE WAS FULL OF DIFFICULT -- IT ONLY TOOK THE JURY ABOUT THREE HOURS TO COME TO A VERDICT. HE FACES THE POTENTIAL OF YEARS BEHIND BARS. NO SENTENCING DATE HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED, JUST YET. >> NO ONE IN THIS COUNTRY IS ABOVE THE LAW. EVERYONE MUST BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS, EVEN THIS DEFENDANT. HOWEVER, HUNTER BIDEN SHOULD BE NO MORE ACCOUNTABLE THAN ANY OTHER CITIZEN CONVICTED OF THIS SAME CONDUCT. >> LATER IN THE DAY, HUNTER BIDEN GREETED THE PRESIDENT AFTER HE ARRIVED IN WILMINGTON, DELAWARE. THE PRESIDENT SAYING HE ACCEPTS THE OUTCOME AND WILL RESPECT THE JUDICIAL PROCESS. HE HAS PREVIOUSLY SAID HE WOULD NOT PARDON HIS SON. >> JOINING US, KENDAL AND DANNY CELLAVOS. THE FIRST LADY WAS NOT ABLE TO GET PAST SECURITY BEFORE THE VERDICT WAS READ. WALK US THROUGH. >> THE RAPIDITY OF THE VERDICT TOOK A LOT OF PEOPLE BY SURPRISE AND FOR THAT REASON, JILL BIDEN DID NOT GET INSIDE BUT HUNTER BIDEN REACTED IMPASSIVELY. HE STAYED AND STARED STRAIGHT AHEAD AND LOOKED AT THE JURORS A FEW TIMES. HE ENDED UP EMERGING WITH HIS MOTHER AND WIFE AND WE HEARD FROM HIM LATER WHERE HE EXPRESS THE GRATITUDE HE GOT -- SUGGESTING THAT THEY MIGHT APPEAL THIS CONVICTION AND WE HEARD FROM DAVID WEISS, THE MAN WHO BROUGHT THIS CASE, A FORMER TRUMP-APPOINTED UNITED STATES ATTORNEY. HERE IS MORE FROM DAVID WEISS. >> THIS CASE WAS ABOUT THE ILLEGAL CHOICES THE DEFENDANT MADE WHILE IN THE THROES OF ADDICTION. HIS CHOICE TO LIE ON A GOVERNMENT FORM WHEN HE BOUGHT A GUN AND THE CHOICE TO THEN POSSESS THAT GUN. IT WAS THESE CHOICES AND THE COMBINATION OF GUNS AND DRUGS THAT MADE HIS CONDUCT DANGEROUS. >> THESE ARE THREE FELONY CONVICTIONS MR. BIDEN DOES PHASE PRISON TIME ALTHOUGH THE SENTENCE IS UNKNOWN AT THIS POINT. THAT WILL HAPPEN A FEW MONTHS FROM NOW AND HE FACES ANOTHER TRIAL ON FELONY TAX CHARGES IN NOVEMBER, GUYS. >> WHAT ABOUT THE TIME THE JURY NEEDED TO COME TO THIS DECISION? >> IT APPARENTLY WASN'T A VERY DIFFICULT DECISION. IT WAS EARLY ON, SIX-SIX. THAT SURPRISES ME. I THOUGHT THERE MIGHT BE A COUPLE OF HOLDOUTS FOR AN ACQUITTAL, MAYBE PEOPLE STRUGGLING WITH ADDICTION OR WHETHER OR NOT HE HAD BEEN ON THE PARTICULAR DAY. BUT HE WAS PROVEN TO BE AN ADDICT AT A PRECISE TIME. I AM NOT SURPRISED AT THE SHORT DELIBERATIONS PERIOD. THIS IS NOT A COMPLEX WHITE- COLLAR HEAVY CASE. IT IS GUNS, DRUGS. PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT. >> THE JURORS ARE NOW FREE TO TALK. WHAT IS THE REACTION TO THE VERDICT? >> SOME OF THEM DID NOT THINK MUCH OF THE CASE. THEY HAD A LOT OF SYMPATHY FOR HUNTER BIDEN. ONE OF THEM EVEN CALLED IT A WASTE OF TAXPAYER MONEY. WITH AT THE END OF THE DAY, AS THEY WENT THROUGH THE EVIDENCE, ALL OF THE JURORS DECIDED THEY HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CONVICT. MANY OF THEM DON'T THINK HUNTER BIDEN DESERVES JAIL TIME. TAKE A LISTEN. >> FOR US, IT IS NOT POLITICALLY MOTIVATED. POLITICS NEVER PLAYED INTO ANYTHING WE SAID IN THE JURY ROOM. WE JUST HAD TO FIND OUT WHETHER HE PURCHASED A GUN ILLEGALLY OR NOT. THAT WAS THE WHOLE CASE. >> IN AN ATMOSPHERE WHERE THE LEGAL SYSTEM HAS BECOME SO POLITICIZED AND ATTACKED BY BOTH SIDES, THE AMERICAN JURY SYSTEM, 12 MEMBERS GOT TOGETHER OF ALL POLITICAL PERSUASIONS AND DEMOGRAPHIC PERSUASIONS AND WENT TO THE EVIDENCE AND DECIDED THEY HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CONVICT EVEN THOUGH SOME OF THEM DID NOT THINK MUCH OF THE CASE. >> THIS IS NOT THE END OF HIS LEGAL CHALLENGES AND HE IS EXPECTED TO GO TO COURT IN NOVEMBER ON TAX CHARGES. COULD THIS CASE HAVE ANY IMPACT ON THAT ONE? >> IT WILL AND THE SENSE OF HUNTER BIDEN IS SENTENCED THE SECOND CASE STARTS, THE REALITY IS THAT HE WILL HAVE A CRIMINAL HISTORY BY THE TIME HE ROLLS INTO THE SECOND CASE AND IF HE IS CONVICTED, THAT PUTS HIM IN AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CATEGORY FOR SENTENCING. AND IN THIS CASE, YOU MAY HEAR A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THIS GUN CASE SAY THAT HUNTER BIDEN IS A CANDIDATE FOR A STRAIGHT PROBATION SENTENCE. FOR THE LAST 18 HOURS OR SO, I HAVE BEEN REALLY THINKING ABOUT IT AND I THINK HE IS LIKELY TO GET SOME TIME, MAYBE A SPLIT SENTENCE BUT HE IS LIKELY TO GET A SENTENCE OF INCARCERATION, 15 TO 21 MONTHS. AND DON'T FORGET, HE IS GOING TO BE BEFORE A JUDGE AND A PART OF THE COUNTRY WHERE A LOT OF DRUG CASES ARE CONVICTED. >> THANK YOU BOTH VERY MUCH. >>> THIS MORNING IS THE 250th DAY OF THE CONFLICT IN GAZA AND THERE IS A NEW PUSH FOR A CEASE- FIRE IS ANTONY BLINKEN HEADS TO QATAR . >> THE SECRETARY ALSO SET TO MEET WITH AMERICAN FAMILIES WITH HOSTAGES BEING HELD BY HAMAS. >> Reporter: IT HAS BEEN NEARLY 2 WEEKS SINCE PRESIDENT BIDEN LAID OUT THAT CEASE-FIRE PLAN TO END THE WAR IN GAZA AND BRING ALL OF THE HOSTAGES HOME. FINALLY, THERE IS A RESPONSE FROM HAMAS BUT THAT IS NOT CLEAR AND IT IS NOT A CLEAR NO. THE POLITICAL LEADER ALONG WITH ISLAMIC JIHAD SAYS THEY ARE READY TO MAKE A DEAL TO AND MESS THIS WAR ND THAT THEY ARE SEEKING AMENDMENTS TO THE CEASE- FIRE PROPOSAL THAT IS ON THE TABLE ACCORDING TO A SOURCE FAMILIAR WITH THE SITUATION WHO TELLS US HAMAS WANTS A TIMELINE FOR WHEN ISRAELI FORCES WILL FULLY WITHDRAW FROM GAZA. IT IS NOT CLEAR WHETHER THAT IS A COMMITMENT THAT ISRAEL IS PREPARED TO MAKE. AT THIS STAGE, A DEAL IS STILL POSSIBLE BUT IT MAY ALSO BE THAT THE TWO SIDES REMAIN QUITE SOME DISTANCE APART. ANTONY BLINKEN WHO HAS BEEN TRAVELING THE MIDDLE EAST IS HEADING TO QATAR TODAY TO TRY TO CLOSE THE GAPS BETWEEN THOSE TWO SIDES TO MEET WITH MEDIATORS AND HERE IN ISRAEL, THE MILITARY IS SAYING THAT IRANIAN-BACKED HEZBOLLAH MILITANTS IN SOUTHERN LEBANON HAVE FIRED 160 ROCKETS OVER THE COURSE OF THE DAY INTO NORTHERN ISRAEL AND THAT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST BOMBARDMENTS OF THE ENTIRE WAR. HEZBOLLAH RESPONDING TO AN ISRAELI STRIKE THAT KILLED ONE OF ITS SENIOR COMMANDERS. RIGHT NOW, THE RACE IS ON TO TRY TO END ONE MORE AND STOP ANOTHER ONE FROM FLARING UP. BACK TO YOU. >>> BACK IN THE UNITED STATES, AT LEAST ONE PERSON IS DEAD AFTER A GUNMAN HIJACKED A CITY BUS FULL OF PASSENGERS. SINCE IT WAS A HOSTAGE SITUATION, MORE THAN TWO DOZEN POLICE CARS CHASED THE BUS AND THE WHOLE THING WAS CAUGHT ON CAMERA. HE HELD A GUN TO THE BUS DRIVERS HEAD WHILE FORCING HIM TO DRIVE NEARLY 20 MILES BEFORE DISABLING THE VEHICLE. A 49-YEAR-OLD MAN HAS BEEN ARRESTED BUT IT IS UNCLEAR WHY HE HIJACKED THE BUS. >>> A HIGH-PROFILE STING OPERATION THAT LED TO THE ARREST OF EIGHT MEN SUSPECTED LEE TIED TO ICES HERE IN THE UNITED STATES. >> THE MEN WERE DETAINED OVER THE WEEKEND IN NEW YORK, PHILADELPHIA AND LOS ANGELES. WE SHOULD KNOW HAT WHILE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH A TERRORIST CONNECTION OR PLOT, THEY ARE RACING REMOVAL PROCEEDINGS BEFORE AN IMMIGRATION JUDGE. >> JULIA AINSLIE, GOOD MORNING. WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THESE THREE MEN AND HOW THEY GOT HERE? >> ACTUALLY, THERE WERE EIGHT ARRESTS AND ALL OF THOSE ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE THE NICEST HIGH. THEY HAVE NOT YET BEEN CHARGED. THEY SIMPLY PICKED UP ON IMMIGRATION AND THEY CROSSED OVER THE BORDER. TWO OF THE EIGHT DID COME THROUGH IN MARCH OF 2023 AND AT LEAST ONE OF THOSE CAME THROUGH ON THE ACT WHICH MEANS THEY DID NOT COME ILLEGALLY. THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION STARTED IT TO HELP ASYLUM IMMIGRANTS. THIS YEAR, IT HAS REALLY BEEN MARKED BY A CHANGE OF MIGRANTS COMING FROM OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD AND NOW WE ARE SEEING MORE , RUSSIAN NATIONALS, SOME OF THESE PLACES TO HAVE TIES TO ICES WHICH IS STARTING TO POSE MORE OF A THREAT, GLOBALLY. >> HOW ARE INVESTIGATORS ABLE TO TRACK THEM DOWN AND DO WE KNOW WHAT COMES NEXT? >> WE KNOW THAT WHEN THEY CROSS THE BORDER, THEY HAD NO DEROGATORY INFORMATION, THEY WERE NOT ON A TERRORIST WATCH LIST AND THERE WAS NO CRIMINAL HISTORY. BORDER AGENTS CHECKED THEIR BACKGROUND BUT LATER BECAUSE OF THE FBI AND POSSIBLY BECAUSE OF A TIP, THEY WERE ABLE TO START MONITORING AND KEEPING TABS ON THESE MEN AND THERE WAS ENOUGH INFORMATION THAT THEY THOUGHT ICES SHOULD KNOW. THIS IS SORT OF THE WAY TO GO FOR THE LOWEST HANGING FRUIT. THEY KNEW THEY HAD SOME IMMIGRATION VIOLATIONS AND THEY WERE WAITING TO GO BEFORE AN IMMIGRATION JUDGE SO THEY COULD ARREST THEM AND DETAIN THEM WHILE WAITING FOR THAT HEARING. THAT IS WHY I >> MOVED IN AND PROBABLY WHILE THE FBI WILL CONTINUE THEIR INVESTIGATION, I WOULD GUESS THAT THE FBI WOULD WANT TO TALK TO THESE MEN. >> WE KNOW BORDER SECURITY IS A TOP ISSUE IN THE RACE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE. LAST WEEK, PRESIDENT BIDEN SIGNED THAT ACTION TIGHTENING BORDER SECURITY. DO OFFICIALS THINK THAT WILL BE ENOUGH TO CLAMPDOWN ON POTENTIAL SAFETY CONCERNS LIKE THIS? >> Reporter: THE ONE THING THE EXECUTIVE ACTION IS SUPPOSED TO DO IS BRING DOWN THE NUMBERS AT THE BORDER. THAT WAY, YES, IT IS EASIER TO STRETCH THIN SO THEY CAN DO MORE CHECKS BUT I THINK WITH THIS CASE SHOWS AND THE CASE OF THE VENEZUELAN GANG THAT WE HIGHLIGHTED EARLIER THIS WEEK, VENEZUELA IS ANOTHER COUNTRY THAT DOESN'T SHARE A LOT OF INFORMATION WITH THE UNITED STATES BUT ALL OF THAT SHOWS THERE ARE PEOPLE CROSSING THE BORDER THAT THE UNITED STATES DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH TIME YOU HAVE TO COLLECT INFORMATION, IT IS COMING FROM COUNTRIES THAT DO NOT SHARE INFORMATION AND IT IS NOT READILY AVAILABLE TO A BORDER AGENT WITHIN THE FIRST 72 HOURS OF THEIR CROSSING AND IT IS LIKELY THOSE PEOPLE WILL BE RELEASED BECAUSE THEY WON'T BE DEEMED A THREAT. SO THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IS WORKING ON WAYS TO IMPROVE THIS AND ANOTHER EXECUTIVE ACTION THE PRESIDENT TOOK LAST MONTH IS TO GET MORE CLASSIFIED INFORMATION TO IMMIGRATION JUDGES WHERE THEY ARE DECIDING WHO CAN BE RELEASED BUT IN SHORT, THIS IS A TOP CONCERN AND IT IS NOT CLEAR IF EXECUTIVE ACTION WILL COMPLETELY TAKE AWAY THOSE FEARS. >>> TURNING TO SOME GOOD NEWS ABOUT VIOLENT CRIMES IN THE UNITED STATES. NEWLY RELEASED STATISTICS SHOW THAT HISTORIC DROP IN CRIME BUT THAT NEWS COMES AS MULTIPLE PEOPLE WERE SHOT AT A POPULAR SHOPPING AREA. SENIOR CORRESPONDENT, TOM CASTILLO, HAS THE DETAILS. >> Reporter: PEOPLE SHOT AT A DOWNTOWN FOOD COURT. >> PEOPLE WERE SCREAMING, THERE IS A SHOOTER, RUN! >> Reporter: VIOLENT CRIME ACTUALLY DROPPED DRAMATICALLY DURING THE FIRST THREE MONTHS OF THE YEAR AFTER SURGING DURING THE PANDEMIC. AMONG THE 72% OF POLICE AGENCIES REPORTING TO THE FBI, MURDER IS DOWN 26% COMPARED TO A YEAR AGO AND WRITE DOWN 25%, ROBBERY DOWN 17%. MURDER IS DOWN 16% IN CHICAGO. DC, DOWN 40%. PHILADELPHIA DOWN 41%. PHILADELPHIA'S COMMITTEES DOSE POLICE COMMISSIONER. >> WE ARE REALLY BEING VERY STRATEGIC. >> Reporter: MURDERS ARE UP DOUBLE DIGITS IN L.A.. IN POMPANO BEACH, POLICE AND FEDERAL AGENTS JUST WRAPPED UP A SIX-WEEK SWEEP TARGETING GUNS AND DRUGS ARRESTING 132 SUSPECTS AND CONFISCATING DOZENS OF WEAPONS. >> WE COME OUT AND WE RISK OUR LIVES AND WE CHASED DOWN THE BAD PEOPLE. >> Reporter: EVEN AS HIS OWN SON WAS CONVICTED OF ILLEGALLY BUYING A FIREARM. POLICE SAY REDUCING VIOLENCE OFTEN COMES DOWN TO MORE COPS ON THE STREET, ADDICTION HELP AND JOBS. >>> NOW, IT IS TIME FOR YOUR MORNING NEWS. IN SOUTH FLORIDA, MILLIONS ARE BRACING FOR A SOGGY DAY AHEAD. >>> NO CHANGE IN THIS FORECAST FOR THE SUNSHINE STATE. WE WILL CONTINUE TO SEE UNSETTLED WEATHER AND FLOOD MARCHES -- WATCHES REMAIN IN EFFECT INCLUDING SOME OF THOSE HARD-HIT AREAS, YESTERDAY. THE KEYS ARE STILL INCLUDED. HERE IS WHAT PLAYS OUT. MORE HEAVY DOWNPOURS, THE TORRENTIAL RAIN THAT WE SAW MUCH OF YESTERDAY BECAUSE WE HAVE THIS STATIONARY FRONT HANGING OUT ACROSS CENTRAL FLORIDA LEAVING US WITH PLENTY OF MOISTURE. HERE IS A LOOK AT YOUR FRIDAY AND THIS FRONT WILL STILL BE STICKING AROUND. HERE IS THE RAINFALL FORECAST AS WE GET THROUGH SATURDAY. YESTERDAY, WE SAW IMPRESSIVE RAINFALL RATES IN PLACES LIKE SARASOTA. THEY PICKED UP EIGHT INCHES OF RAIN SETTING RECORDS. TODAY, ANOTHER ROUND SPECIFICALLY ACROSS SOUTHWEST FLORIDA WHERE WE COULD SEE OVER A FOOT OF RAIN BY THE TIME WE GET INTO THE WEEKEND BUT I THINK IF YOU LOOK FURTHER TO THE EAST ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE EAST COAST, THEY REALLY ONLY NEED TO PICK UP AN INCH TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN TO SEE THAT FLASH FLOODING. AND WE ARE NOT EVEN TWO WEEKS INTO HURRICANE SEASON BUT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT AN AREA OF POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT. IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING MUCH OF INTEREST BUT OVER THE NEXT WEEK OR SO, WE WILL KEEP AN EYE ON IT. IT WILL GET OUT OVER THE ATLANTIC OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AND CROSSED THE STATE OF FLORIDA LATER, TODAY. THE BIG PICTURE, LOOK FOR YOUR WEEKEND. THE KILL SWITCH IS ALREADY RESPONSIBLE FOR DEATHS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. INCLUDING THAT OF THE HOUSTON POLICE OFFICER, BILL JEFFREY, AND 2021, KILLED IN A BURST OF AUTOMATIC FIRE TRIGGERED BY THIS DEVICE. >> HOUSTON PROPER. BY FAR, WE ARE SEEING THE MOST INCIDENCES IN HOUSTON. >> Reporter: SINCE THEN, THE NUMBER OF KILL SWITCHES HAS SKYROCKETED. AT TIMES, SELLERS ARE EVEN TURNING TO SOCIAL MEDIA TO SELL THESE PRODUCTS. >> JUST THIS DEVICE IS CONSIDERED A MacHINE-GUN. >> Reporter: THE POSSESSION OF ONE CARRIES UP TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON. >> THESE GUNS FIRE FASTER THAN MILITARY GRADE IMPORTS. THE HOT WEATHER CAN BE BAD FOR YOUR HEART. >>> WE WILL TELL YOU WHY EATING A HEALTHY DIET MIGHT BE GOOD FOR NOT JUST YOU BUT THE PLANET. WE HAVE THE MEDICAL CONTRIBUTOR IN STUDIO WITH US. YOU ARE HERE IN THE FLESH AND IT IS GREAT TO SEE YOU. LET'S START WITH THIS NEW STUDY OUT OF HARVARD FINDING THE BEST DIET MIGHT BE THE BEST FOR THE PLANET. >> THIS WAS A STUDY THAT LOOKED AT DECADES OF RESEARCH TRIED TO SEE WHAT LOW RESOURCED FOODS, FOODS, NUTS, GRAINS, THINGS THAT DON'T NEED A LOT OF WATER OR TAKING UP THE PLANETS RESOURCES IN ORDER TO GROW AND PEOPLE IN THE TOP 10% OF THESE LOW RESOURCED DIETS WERE ACTUALLY LESS LIKELY TO DIE FROM HEART DISEASE AND CHRONIC DISEASES AND, OVERALL, HAD A TYPE THAT RESULTED IN ABOUT 29% GREENHOUSE EMISSIONS MEETING IF YOU HAVE A DIET THAT IS NUTS, FRUITS, VEGETABLES ORIENTED AND WHAT WE SAY IS A NATURAL LOW RESOURCED DIET, YOU ARE NOT ONLY HEALTHIER AS AN INDIVIDUAL BUT YOU ARE HELPING THE PLANET. THE DOCTOR'S ORDERS HERE ARE THAT YOU CAN TRY TO STAY GREEN BY USING THESE AND THIS IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO IN SMALL INCREMENTS. YOU DON'T HAVE TO TURN YOUR DIET OVERNIGHT BUT PUTTING SOME NOTES AND NATURAL OILS IN PLACES THAT MIGHT BE MORE PROCESSED, IT CAN HELP YOU AND IT CAN HELP THE PLANET. >>> THIS WAS PUBLISHED IN THE JOURNAL OF OBESITY. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO LOWER YOUR BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS, SPECIFICALLY, EXERCISING IN THE EVENING MIGHT BE THE WAY TO GO? >> THIS HAS BEEN A LITTLE BIT OF THE HOLY GRAIL OF RESEARCH TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME TO DIET AND WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME TO EXERCISE AND RESEARCHERS TOOK ABOUT 186 INDIVIDUALS WITH THE AVERAGE AGE AT 46 AND THE AVERAGE BODY MASS INDEX WAS PRETTY OBESE, ABOUT 32 MEANING THIS IS NOT FOR SOMEONE LOSING FIVE OR 10 POUNDS BUT THOSE BY DEFINITION THAT ARE OBESE AND 32 BMI SO BODY MASS INDEX WHICH TRANSLATES TO THE DEFINITION OF OBESITY. THE REASON I MENTIONED THAT IS BECAUSE I DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO OVER INTERPRET THAT YOU CAN ONLY EXERCISE AT NIGHT BUT FOR THESE INDIVIDUALS, THEY PUT FITNESS METERS ON THEIR WRIST AND CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITOR AND FOUND THAT WHEN YOU CONCENTRATE 50% OF THE HIGH INTENSITY EXERCISE IN THE EVENING, OVERALL SUGAR LEVELS WERE LOWER. I THINK PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THEIR OWN DATA. I THINK THE TAKE AWAY FROM THIS IS THAT YOU ARE DIFFERENT IN THE WAY YOU PROCESS SUGAR MIGHT BE DIFFERENT DEPENDING ON YOUR BODY AND IT IS HELPFUL TO HAVE THE GLUCOSE MONITORS TO KNOW WHEN EXERCISE AND DIET AFFECTS YOUR SUGAR. >> VERY INTERESTING. I THINK MOST OF US ARE LIKE GET UP AND GET IT DONE AND GET IT OUT OF THE WAY. >> TRY TO BE CONSCIOUS OF THIS BUT DON'T STRESS ABOUT THE TIME. BUT BE AWARE AND I THINK HAVING THAT DATA GIVES YOU THE AWARENESS AND THAT IS WHAT THE STUDY IS ABOUT. >>> LET'S TALK ABOUT THE HEAT. ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY, WE ARE SEEING RECORDS BROKEN LEFT AND RIGHT BUT WE ARE UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS COULD INCREASE STRESS ON THE HEART WHICH POSES MAYBE NOT A SURPRISE BUT WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT THIS WHEN IT SEEMS LIKE THIS TREND IS CONTINUING? >> IT CANNOT BE NATURAL TO BE IN THIS KIND OF HEAT SO THIS WAS A CONTROLLED EXPERIMENT, THREE SETS OF ADULTS WHERE THEY BASICALLY RAISE THE CORE BODY TEMPERATURE BY 0.5 DEGREES CELSIUS. WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT DRAMATIC SWINGS BUT FOR THE BODY, THAT CAN BE IMPORTANT ENOUGH AND FOR INDIVIDUALS, WHEN THEY RAISED THE CORE BODY TEMPERATURE 1.5 DEGREES, ABOUT SEVEN OF THESE INDIVIDUALS ACTUALLY HAD A SYMPTOMATIC HEART ATTACK AND WHAT THAT IS FROM, WHEN YOU AND I ARE HOT, OUR BODY WANTS TO RUSH THE BLOOD TO GET OUR SKIN TO BE ABLE TO COOL DOWN AND THAT PUTS STRESS ON THE HEART AND THAT CAN RE CREATE THE STRESS SO THE DOCTOR'S ORDERS ARE TO JUST STAY COOL, DRINK, HYDRATE, THINK ABOUT HEAT WHEN YOU'RE GOING OUTSIDE. >>> KEVIN JONAS COMING OUT ABOUT HIS SKIN CANCER DIAGNOSIS. WHAT IS THE TAKE AWAY? >> I HAVE NOT ACTUALLY SEEN THIS. I KNOW THAT KEVIN SHARED SOME OF IT ON SOCIAL AND I THINK IT WAS FROM A BIOPSY. I DID NOT SEE WHAT THE FINAL DIAGNOSIS WAS AND I DID TELL YOU THAT THIS IS A REMINDER FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES ABOUT SUN EXPOSURE AND STAYING SAFE AS WELL AS IF YOU SEE ANYTHING, ANY CHANGES IN SKIN PATTERNS, YOU SHOULD GET IT CHECKED OUT AND THE MOST IMPORTANT AREAS ARE THE ONES THAT YOU MAY NOT SEE LIKE ON THE BACK OF THE NECK. EARLY DETECTION AND HEADING TO THE DOCTOR. AND PEOPLE OFTEN CONFUSE IT WITH, I DON'T GO OUTSIDE THAT MUCH AND YOU CAN HAVE ALL KINDS OF RESULTS FROM THAT. I WOULD GUESS THAT KEVIN'S DIAGNOSIS WILL LEAD TO MORE PEOPLE GETTING SCREENED. >> I AM ACTUALLY MAKING AN APPOINTMENT, TODAY. THANK YOU SO MUCH. >>> LET'S GET TO SOME MONEY NEWS. IT SOUNDS LIKE GOOD NEWS, RIGHT? TELL US HOW MUCH THIS COULD HELP AND HOW IT WORKS >> THIS IS THE SECOND DRUG ACTUALLY THE THIRD BUT REALL THE SECOND DRUG IN A CLASS O DRUGS CALLED MONOCLONA ANTIBODIES THIS ATTACKS AND REMOVES THE AMYLOID PLAQUES THAT START I THE BRAINS OF PATIENTS WIT ALZHEIMER'S AND ARE THOUGHT TO BE IN PART RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SYMPTOMS OF THE DISEASE. A SIMILAR DRUG WAS APPROVE ABOUT A YEAR AGO SO THIS IS THE SECOND ONE IF FINALLY APPROVED BY THE FDA. WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER IS THAT NUMBER ONE, IT IS NOT A CURE IT DOESN'T NECESSARILY TREAT THE SYMPTOMS ALTHOUGH SHOWING THAT IT CAN SLOW COGNITIVE DECLINE IS HOW THE MEDICINE GETS APPROVED THE MEDICINES WE HAVE FO ALZHEIMER'S JUST DEAL WITH SYMPTOMS LIKE DEPRESSION THIS MEDICATION IS THOUGHT TO BE SOMETHING THAT IS MODIFYING, REMOVING PLAQUE URLEIN THE DISEASE TO PREVENT MOR DEVELOPMENT DOWN THE LINE. >> I KNOW THERE ARE WORRIE ABOUT POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECT INCLOUDING BRAIN SWELLING AN BLOEDING HOW ARE EXPERTS ADDRESSING THIS? AND WITH THAT IN MIND, DOES IT SEEM LIKE THE FDA WILL APPROVE IT >> I THINK THE FDA WILL APPROV IT ALTHOUGH THEY DON'T ALWAYS FOLLOW THE ADVICE OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE BUT I DON'T SEE ANYONE HAVING AN ISSUE WIT THIS BRAIN SWELLING AND BRAIN HEMORRHAGE ARE KNOWN SID EFFECTS OF THE MEDICATIONS EVERYONE WHO HAS WEIGHED IN ON THIS INCLUDING COMMITTEE MEMBERS SAY IF YOU DO NOT TREAT PATIENT WITH ALZHEIMER'S, THEY ARE 100% DOOMED TO HAV PROGRESSIVE DISEASE AND DIE. IF WE TALK ABOUT A COUPLE OF CASES, ABOUT THREE DEATHS THAT WERE ATTRIBUTED TO THE MEDICATIONS TO THE TREATMENT ITSELF BECAUSE OF THE BRAI HEMORRHAGE AND EDEMA, THAT IS RISK THAT IS WORTH TAKING IN MOST EXPERTS OPINIONS. ANOTHER THING ABOUT THIS DRUG, YOU CAN START THE DRUG AND THE STOP IT. THAT GIVESIA FINANCIAL FREEDOM BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEA MEDICALLY? >> THIS MEDICINE IS NOT GIVE TWICE A MONTH. IT IS GIVEN ONCE A MONTH WHICH IS NICE. AFTER THE AMYLOID PLAQUE SEEME TO RESOLVE, THEY DISCONTINUE THE MEDICATION WHAT I THINK IS GOING TO B INTERESTED IS IT WILL BE CONTINUED TO BE FOLLOWED IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT THREE OR FOUR YEARS FOR THE AMYLOID PLAQUE TO REASSEMBLE AND THE THEY COULD BE TREATED AGAIN. RIGHT NOW, THE MEDICINE IS MEANT TO BE TAKEN CONTINUALLY WHICH IS A LOT. SO IF THIS IS THE CASE WHERE PATIENTS COULD HOLD TH TREATMENT UNTIL THE PLAQUE REACCUMULATES, THAT WOULD BE A ADVAPTAGE OVER THE PREDECESSOR >> THERE ARE DOZENS OF DRUGS CURRENTLY BEING TESTED IS THERE ANYTHING THAT RESEARCHERS ARE EXCITED ABOUT? >> A LOT ARE TRYING TO ESTABLISH OR CONVERT, CREATE I MEDICATIONS THAT WE ARE TALKIN ABOUT THAT IS UNDER THE SKIN INJECTIONS AS OPPOSED TO IV. THIS WILL BE A BIG STICKIN POINT FOR ECONOMISTS THAT STIL WANT TO SEE THE NUMBER CLESER TO 2% >> CALEB, WHAT STOOD OUT IN TH REPORT >> IT IS THE HOUSING UNAFFORDABILITY THAT IS GETTIN TOPEOPLE INFLATION WE ARE STUCK WITH FO SEVERAL YEARS AND IT I MODERATING BUT SHELTER PRICES, WE CAN'T GET AWAY FROM IT. AND FOOD AWAY FROM HOME, RESTAURANT PRICES UP 4%. THAT IS DRIVING MONTH AFTE MONTH. AND IT WILL BE A LOT MOR EXPENSIVE THIS SUMMER THAN LAS SUMMER OVERALL, THE COOLER, WE HAVE BEEN IN THE RANGE FOR A WHILE. THIS IS THE LOWER END OF THE RANGE AND THAT'S A GOOD SIGN >> SO THE BATTLE OF INFLATION, WHERE DO THINGS STAND AND HO COULD THIS IMPACT THE FED' DECISION >> THE 3.3% DECISION WAS ABOUT 9% IN SUMMER OF 2022 SO THIS IS PROGRESS. I WANT TO POINT OUT ONE OTHE THING THAT THE FEDERAL RESERVE IS POINTING TO THEY WANT TO SEE THE CLOSER TO 3% THIS LINE IS INCOME AND WAGE GROWTH WAGE GROWTH IS OUT PACIN INFLIGZ. YOUR INCOME IS GROWING AT FASTER RACE. THAT CHANGE HAP PED ABOUT ON YEAR AGO IT HAS BEEN 12 MONTHS OF WAG GROWTH OUTPACING INFLATION THE FED IS LOOKING AT THIS SAYING THE ECONOMY IS NO TANKING BUT THEY WANT TO SEE INFLATION TO 2%. >> CALEB, HOW LONG >> NOTHING WILL HAPPEN THI AFTERNOON EXCEPT THE DOT PLOT, THE MOST BORING AND IMPORTAN CHART IN ECONOMICS THAT'S WHERE THE VOTING MEMBER OF THE FED THINK INTEREST RATE SHOULD BE AT THE END OF THIS YEAR AND NEXT YEAR CONSUMERS NEED TO SEE THE FUTURE AND WHEN PRICES AND INTEREST RATES WILL COME DOWN WE WILL GET A SIGN OF THAT TODAY BUT THEY ARE NOT COMING TOWN TODAY. >> HOW IMPORTANT IS THIS FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YOUR AND HO IT WILL SHAPE UP >> WE HAVE HIGHER RATES UNTI WHENEVER BUT IF IT LOOKS LIKE THE FED MAY EASE TOWARDS THE END OF TH YOUR , THAT'S A GOOD SIGN FO THE END OF THE YEAR FOR PEOPLE LOOKING TO BUY A HOME OR BUY A CAR. AND EVEN BETTER FOR NEXT YEAR. STRONG LABOR ECONOMY, CONSUMER SPENDING IS KEEPING UP PRICES MODERATING. IT CENTERS ON ONE CHARACTER THAT I PLAY, HENRY. HE IS SORT OF A LOST SOUL. THROUGH TELLING HIS STORY AND COMMUNITY AROUND HIM, HE BEGIN TO HEAL. >> HE IS DEALING WITH A LOT OF GRIEF AND HE OVERCOMES THA THROUGH HELP WITH OTHER PEOPLE >> YES >> IT IS BEAUTIFUL TO TELL THI THROUGH DANCE AND NO DIALOGUE. I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE MAY BE LIKE, HOW DO YOU TELL A STOR LIKE THIS WITHOUT DIALOGUE EXPLAIN HOW YOU ARE ABLE TO DO THAT >> I THINK A GOOD WAY TO THINK OF THE SHOW IS HOW SOMEONE TAKES IN A SILENT FILM IF YOU WATCH A SILENT FILM, YO GET A LOT JUST FROM IMAGERY AN MOVEMENT OF BODIES AND HOW BOD LANGUAGE COMES INTO PLAY I THINK VERY MUCH WITH THI SHOW, IT FEELS LIKE THEY ARE WATCHING THIS WHOLE MOVING PAINTING THAT IS BEING UNDERSCORED BY AN INCREDIBLE ALBUM. >> IT IS A BEAUTIFUL WAY T DESCRIBE IT AS A PAINTING. YOU SEE ALL OF THE LOTYSZ USED THERE AND THE EMOTION OF IT IS UNBELIEVABLE RICKY, YOU ARE ON STAGE WITH VERY FEW BREAKS FOR 90 MINUTES I HAVE TO IMAGINE IT I PHYSICALLY EXHAUSTING AN EMOTIONALLY EXHAUSTING WHAT PUSHES THROUGH THROUG THAT >> HONEST LE, THE PEOPLE THA I'M ON STAGE WITH. THERE ARE PEOPLE I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH FOR OVER TEN YOUR NOW, FRIENDS I HAVE HAD SINC MIAMI. SO THE CAST THEMSELVES, WHEN W SEE EACH OTHER ON STAGE, W HARDLY HAVE TO DO MUCH WORK TO GET TO THAT EMOTIONAL PLAC BECAUSE WE HAVE SO MUCH CARE FOR EACH OTHER IT IS A LOT OF WORK BUT IT MAKES IT IT EASIER TO HAVE THE PEOPL WITH US. >> IT IS IMPORTANT TO POINT OU ON THIS PRIDE MONTH THAT THIS IS A STORY ABOUT LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN MEN JUSTIN YOU SAID YOU ARE NOT GAY MAN YOURSELF BUT MANY OF YOUR CLOSE FRIENDS ARE IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO GET THIS RIGHT, ISN'T IT >> ABSOLUTELY. I TAKE A LOT OF RESPONSIBILITY WITH THAT AND THERE IS A GREAT DEAL OF ALLISHIP IN THIS WOR AND ALSO THE WORK THAT I HAV DONE WITH THE PLAY RIGHT WHO HELPED CRACK THE CODE OF THE MUSICAL. AND IT IS A VERY DIVERSE CAS AND A DIVERSE GROUP OF CHARACTERS WE ARE REALLY PROUD TO TELL TH STORY. >> RICKY, WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSES YOU HEAR FROM PEOPLE RECOLLECT ESPECIALLY PEOPLE IN THE QUEER COMMUNITY WHO SE SOMETHING THEY DON'T USUALLY SEE ON STAGE >> TWO THINGS. WHEN WE GET AUDIENCES WHO DO NOT SEE MUCH DANCE, I THINK THEY ARE SO INCREDIBLY MOVED BY HOW EAS IT WAS TO FOLLOW THE STORY AND HOW MOVED THEY WERE. AND ALSO AS FAR AS THE QUEER COMMUNITY, GETTING TO SEE A VERY REAL, BEAUTIFUL AND FLAWED QUEER RELATIONSHIP OBTHE STAGE AND GET TO SEE HUMANS EXISTING IN STORY AND SEEING THEMSELVES ON STAGE MEANING A LOT TO PEOPLE. >> WHAT ARE SOME OF TH REACTIONS YOU HAVE HEARD >> THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS SHOW IS THE LETTERS WE RECEIVE THE MESSAGES WE GET, BOTH FROM COLLEAGUES AND FRIENDS AND ALS A LOT OF STRANGERS WHO REACH OUT AND SHARE. IT IS THE KIND OF SHOW THAT YO CAN'T CALCULATE HOW TO CREAT THAT SORT OF REACTION FROM PEOPLE BUT IT HAS IT IN IT IT HAS LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE WE ARE JUST SAVORING THE FAC THAT IT IS HAVING THAT EFFECT ON PEOPLE NOW >> YOU CHOREOGRAPHED EVERYTHIN FROM WEST SIDE STORY TO THE NE YORK CITY BALLET HOW DOES BROADWAY COMPARE, TRYING TO CHOREOGRAPH ON A BROADWAY STAGE >> BROADWAY FEELS THE MOST PERSONAL TONEE IT WAS MY ENTRY INTO DANCE AND STORY TELLING AS A YOUNG PERSON. I WOULD COME TOSEE BROADWA SHOWS WITH MY FAMILY AND IT IT OPENED UP MY WHOLE WORLD IT FEELS IN A WAY THAT IT IS A FULL CIRCLE MOMENT THAT IS COMING HOME, TO GET TO CREATE SHOW FROM THE SEED OF AN IDEA TO FULLY REALIZE THE PRODUCTION O BROADWAY >> RICKY, SOME FOLKS MAY RECOGNIZE YOU FROM SO YOU THIN YOU CAN DANCE. >> YES >> YOU WERE A WINNER A FEW YEARS AGO.
