alley doc the alley is 40 feet long and 12 feet wide the outer boundary is an additional 70 feet from the length of the alley driving perpendicular to the alley pull the truck past the alley aligning the truck about halfway between the alley and the boundary line slightly favoring the alley side of half way give myself a little bit of a space cushion I chose to go about the middle of this tractors turning radius make sure you pull the truck of good length past the alley tighter the turning radius of the tractor the closer you are you're gonna want to be towards the box so with this we'll start as you begin backing turn the steering wheel about a half of the turn clockwise allowing the trailer to make a slow turn towards the alley as the trailer gets closer to the left boundary line of the alley dock extending an imaginary line out from the alley turn the steering wheel further clockwise as the trailer begins to line up in the alley turn the steering wheel counterclockwise until the tractor and trailer are in alignment on this exercise you are allowed to free pull ups and you can get out look twice before any points count against you my turn just a little too tight you can see that the trailer is overshooting the cones want to use one of my pull ups I pull forward far enough that I can straighten out as much they can without exceeding the boundary lines marked by the cones at the top here and then back back in one wait until my trailer axles are getting close to that comb before I start my turn and then once it goes into the box I want to come back with a tractor pretty fast because it takes about 10 feet 12 feet for that track trainer to react to the tractors Corrections okay now you can see that I'm just a little crooked here I'd like to be the straightest possible in the box I'm gonna use one more free pull-up to get two free pull ups for this exercise now that I'm straight it's just a straight line back in continue backing straight until the trailer gets close to the 3 foot box at the end of the alley so as I back in want to bring myself pretty close set the parking brake put the truck in neutral safely exit the truck walk to the back of the truck and visually inspect the distance that is required to finish backing the trailer into the 3 foot box [Applause] I want the rear of the trailer inside the three foot box enter the truck and finish the backing exercise let's set my break come back out using my second free look verifying that I'm in the box I can tell already from here that we're right in the middle down the box I'm inside the box it could be as close without exceeding the boundaries and just over the line anywhere in the three Figg so that's a good one
