I know two people whose baseball careers ended because they were hit in the face by a baseball. One by a pitch. One by a batted ball. One of them had to have reconstructive surgery on his skull. Both of them have a dead eyeball. One's was recently surgically removed.
Matt Shoemaker wrote a piece for the Players Tribune about what happened when he took a 105mph line drive to the head. Worth a read.
Itβs pretty Fucking simple. If you have played the game and still want somebody to take one off the dome you are a shit stain on this beautiful game of baseball and this world in general. Baseball has a way to police itself and headshots are the exact opposite that

Donaldson took that one like a boss. I can't imagine how bad that would hurt.
First time I saw it live was when Craig Counsel got beamed in the face and it broke his jaw. It was brutal. Would never wish that on anyone.
