MINDO, ECUADOR Everything To See & Do | This is why you NEED to visit Mindo!

[Music] welcome to mindo a small town nestled in the cloud forest of Ecuador known for its incredible biodiversity and stunning natural beauty in this video we will be showing you everything to see and do here in mindo [Music] good morning you guys from beautiful amindo so not only is this place known for its bird life it also has over 25 different species of butterflies so right now we're heading to a butterfly Sanctuary I read online that they have over a thousand butterflies in like this greenhouse thing so that sounds pretty cool we're hiking through the cloud forest right now right by a river it's a fun adventure to start the day [Music] it's so pretty in here the butterfly whisper really pretty oh the mariposario in mindo is a butterfly farm and Sanctuary the facility houses dozens of species of butterflies which you can observe up close in a natural environment we were able to learn about the life cycle of butterflies and observe them in different stages of development what are you looking at over here these are like all of the cocoons some of them are really really pretty..like jeweled colored and then some of them are like see through lime green..like alien eggs looks like they have a second room through here oh wow this place is huge the butterflies are absolutely stunning and witnessing them gracefully fluttering around was a truly captivating experience [Music] okay that was a very surprising and excellent stop so even though we went on our bird tour yesterday the bird nerds haven't gotten quiet enough and David our host said we actually could not miss this next stop it's a beautiful setting isn't it wow this is stunning this [Music] is they eat in the the water and sugar I did not expect fast oh my gosh we just stare each other right in the eyes their tongues are so weird when they said to come here and see the hummingbirds I was like oh great we'll take a little walk and we'll see some birds this was not what I expected it costs five dollars and this was worth every penny if you come to mindo do this [Music] how unique is this it feels like you have to move your head sometimes it comes so close to you it's like a bunch of little fans on you which is perfect for the weather what one more step come on last one let's go I didn't mean everybody [Music] yeah pretty epic spot we were just heading out of the hummingbirds and the owner was like I really want to show you this one Bird that's down by the water so we're walking down his property right now to go find this special bird I think it's called the sun bitter it's supposed to be really rare and we can only see it here so the bird nerds are back again bird nerds are back at it let's go mmm it smells so good [Music] it's delicious oh yeah wow delicious [Music] Pico yes like little [Music] the orange berries they're delicious [Music] okay don't don't swallow the seeds mmm banana those bananas pink [Music] I can't tell you guys how delicious that cinnamon Leaf is so many different things we've tried out here it's always fun yes gracias muchos it is time to head on to our next stop in mindo but definitely do not miss this whenever you come here the views the hummingbirds the little tour through whatever it was we just did that was awesome so yeah definitely don't miss this [Music] so it just started to rain a little bit we're gonna head back to our place quickly freshen up and then try Okay and then I think we're gonna go try some chocolates so Ecuador is known for some of the world's best chocolate and right now we're heading to a factory to learn all the secrets of the fine dark chocolate making process we're super excited we both love dark chocolate and we're going to try a bunch while we're here [Music] and what's your name my name is William William nice to meet you nice to meet you too Samantha some hot chocolate to start off with I'm excited ... I know first thing we're trying is the hot chocolate there is no sweetener he said at all oh and it doesn't need me that is amazing this might be the best hot chocolate we've ever had so this is the cacao bean fruit that they get imported from the coast and they have the Chocolate Factory here then they take the beans and make it into the chocolate here at yumbos right right yeah you're right perfect right with your spoon you can take one bean put in your mouth and try to eat the white membrane around so eating the fruit of the cacao bean hmm it tastes like a starburst is that sweet okay yeah yeah that's good so this is balsamic vinegar made from the white membrane around okay I'm gonna take that bottle home with me with me and that is delicious exactly like a balsamic vinaigrette that you would put on a salad absolutely amazing it's so amazing it comes from the same plant I know that you can get something so tart and like vinegary and also something like so like warm and chocolatey from the same plant that's wild so we just learned about the history and the origins of chocolate and now we're going to go see how it's made he just told us that the whole process of how the bean goes from like the slimy cacao fruit till chocolate that's amazing a lot of work yeah a lot of work mostly by hand go appreciate your chocolate people we do sorting the cacao nibs from the shells after we saw the chocolate in the double boiler room that smelled absolutely amazing we saw the chocolate in like the tempering room so we saw it get tempered and then we saw it put into the bars but now we're back at our table we have brownies to try and chocolate in like I don't know 10 different flavors to try now it's time for the fun part of the tour it looks so fudgy and delicious wow that's like a chocolate explosion we have 60 all the way to 100 as well as some strange flavors like ginger orange coffee let's try them out coffee the winner our guide was right absolutely delicious you can crunch on actually the coffee beans [Music] all right what kind you thinking I grabbed 85 cacao good choice and 60 with coffee these are for our trip to Hawaii so spoiler alert this is such a fun and interesting tour definitely add it to your itinerary the next time you're in Mindo one of our favorite things to do in mindo was hiking through the Lush forest and visiting breathtaking waterfalls to reach the trailhead we began our journey at the minjoy chair lift this chair lift took us high above the forest canopy granting us a unique bird's eye view of the stunning landscape we continued our journey by taking the tarabita cable car across the canyon to the trailhead this open-air cable car moves much faster than the chairlift and the exhilarating ride lasts for about 45 seconds it is definitely not to be missed while visiting Mindo bird watching is also among the top activities to do in mindo Mindo is renowned for its vibrant bird life and we jumped up the opportunity to explore it with a local bird expert the bird nerds are at it again we spotted so many magnificent birds so don't miss this on your trip to Mindo if you missed it you can find more information about all of these activities in our previous video good spot yes [Music] what an awesome time we had here don't miss a stop to come to Ecuador and we definitely recommend staying here the service the food the scenery what an awesome Place see you guys in the next one [Music]
