[Music] what is going on everybody today we have two prevos that are 11 years apart and we're going to test drive both units back to back and compare how well this 2006 Prevost XL2 Royale coach compares to this 2017 Prevost X3 Emerald coach these are both double slide coaches the 17 Emerald does have the Volvo motor the 06 has the Detroit Diesel series 60 so I'm looking forward to putting these both to the test let's get behind the wheel of the Royale coach first and then we'll take the emerald for a spin [Applause] [Music] welcome inside guys you could probably hear that Detroit Diesel series 60 purring back there but when we close this door it's like closing a vault door all that engine noise from outside goes away this is such an industrial machine it is always an honor and a privilege to get behind the wheel of one of these this particular coach has a hundred and five thousand miles on it so a nice low mileage super clean example this particular coach is available at the Motor Coach store here in Bradenton Florida for 399 999 dollars so double slide XL to under 400 Grand Royale coach was owned by Monaco and they're known for having a very simple build kind of the same philosophy that Emerald luxury coaches has more simple easy to work on a lot of the systems you can you know get stuff at Home Depot to fix a lot of these systems both are two prime examples of awesome Prevo buses and you can just tell right away how smooth says just we're going through this RV storage parking lot and this is absolutely a dream to drive I forget how much I love these prevos I have been running around in that Gretch strata Class B van that I absolutely love and we're doing another video right now testing the lithium batteries on that coach but this is a completely different machine here we're pulling out the gate here at the Motor Coach store auxiliary parking facility here there's a local storage lot that they utilize a quick little test drive here and these are really rough roads here and we're gonna also go to the back of this coach while it's going down the road I don't know I might hear a couple things and I don't know if everything's put away a pretty tight turning radius here but you know I've I'm able to do this with ease and you can lift that tag axle if you need to tighten that turning radius a little bit and then that also helps with the wear on your tag axle tires but keep in mind that a lot of these Prevost buses are used as Entertainer coaches that are hauling around Rock Stars celebrities so they've got to go to downtown Arenas and go into tight areas so really when you lift that tag you've got a tight turning radius now I believe that the X3 that we're about to drive has a little longer wheelbase than the xl2s I'm looking forward to putting that to the test so I'm gonna get on the highway here you can see again just rough roads we want to do kind of an acceleration test here in a moment when we're going down the highway we're going to have Andrew the camera guy walk to the back of the coach with the camera to show you what it's like you can hear any squeaks and rattles and I think there might be a couple rattles back there and that's something you can always de-rattle these coaches sometimes you got to look through there might be something in a drawer or something that causes rattles but let's uh let's hammer down here so this is the series 60. and we're gonna hammer down very smooth and again these aren't race cars folks these are RVs so the series 60 I believe is 5 15. one of them's 500 and one's 515 I believe series 60s 515 and the Volvo is 500. so we're going 45 Andrew if you want to just go to the back of the coach here while we're going down the road here you know and we do have all the shades closed right now which one of the big advantages of this coach is this is a touring coach so with those huge Windows while you're going down the road and even this shade I should have up right now but I should have done that before we left but we're almost back to the motor coach store parking lot let's take the 17 for the same quick little spin around the block and I'm curious your thoughts and your comments of any little differences that you're noticing we want to leave this audio as raw as possible so curious your guys thoughts here all right ladies and gentlemen I'm excited about this 2017 so right away I just want to point out you know everything's new or nicer a little fresher you do have a big launch Port tablet here much newer USB ports and then when you see in the back of the coach this is this is a buy right here and actually I think this coach may be sold by the time we get this video live but let's go take it for a spin and see how it Compares my first thoughts are it feels a little bit heavier and a little bit smoother just pulling it out of the parking stall but let's take it for a ride and see how it compares to that 06 and just the air brake on this X3 required a little more pressure to release that air brake than the XL2 for whatever reason this is such a nice coach so smooth this is the top of the food chain this is a 2017 so it's still a few years old but an emerald luxury coaches are out of Stephenville Texas they did do the conversion on it and absolutely knocked it out of the park this is a bath and a half double slide X3 so the first thing I'm really looking forward to testing is the turning radius as we turn out of here compared to the XL2 it's got a little bit longer wheelbase so pulling out of the Motor Coach store storage lot here again rough roads we want to show you guys and we do have a little bit of an angle the way that this driveway is angled it does make it a little bit easier for entering and exiting now you can see the semi up here you can see he's coming way into our lane way over the yellow line this is a really hard intersection for big rigs and keep in mind a bus oh something's got to get tied down back there but let's get through this turn here real quick while there's not too much traffic two for bumpy now Andrew if you want to go to the back of the coach and I think the shower doors uh open no yeah you just show them what it's like keep it going thank you it's not the shower door I don't know it might be that closet on the other side of the bed okay all right so we should have made sure everything was tied down before doing a test drive video but we're just doing this raw and organically so there's something there back there that's not totally locked down but we're gonna try to find that when we get rolling here in a second but we're going to test the acceleration here as we get on to the 301 all right I think I'm good to rock and roll here I always get nervous guys this is a million dollar motorhome so this is Hunter and an awesome opportunity to be able to drive this and take you guys Along on a test drive but I still get nervous every time I drive one of these coaches because I don't want to mess one of these up so the acceleration on this compared to the XL2 I feel like the XL2 accelerated a little bit quicker Andrew you have any thoughts oh I thought oh yeah yeah no worries Andrew if you want to go while we're going uh down the highway here at 50 miles an hour let's walk them to the back of the coach they can hear what it's like here yeah with this window with the blinds being open I don't have to lean forward we're on the Royale coach I should have just opened the blind right here and I would have been able to have a better line of sight then we've got another kind of quick bumpy road here just to show you guys what it's like riding in this coach so I'd like to hear what your thoughts are the 2006 Prevost Royale coach versus this 2017 Prevost Emerald luxury coaches both are at the top of the food chain and if you're gonna purchase a Class A RV of this level I challenge you to go take them on a test drive and if you compare these prebos to production motorhomes out there you're going to notice a night and day difference I've driven a lot of luxury Class A RVs and really the Prevost are on another level and the Newell coaches are right there with them just a little bit different platform and I think the big advantage that the Prevost has over the noodles are the double slide coaches like this that have a lot more livable floor plan while the coach is going down the road when you get into the quad slides even in a quad slide Prevo it's going to take up a lot of that living space while you're going down the roads so my overall thoughts on these two coaches are they're very similar even though the 17 Emerald is 11 years newer than the 06 Royale the drivability is very similar I would say the X3 may be a little bit heavier and not quite as quick as the XL2 and the turning radius it's really hard to notice a difference because they're so close in size but because the X3 wheelbase is a little bit longer the turning radius is probably a little bit sharper on the XL2 overall both incredible machines and you can't go wrong either way I really appreciate all of you watching this comparison video and subscribing to the channel I hope you're all having a great day thanks again [Music]
