Miller’s Smorgasbord | Lancaster County Amish Country Buffet

[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] hello all you fun Seekers we're coming to you today from Rox Pennsylvania we're right here at Miller smers board we never have eaten here before we've had some people request us to come here and do a video so y'all come along with us as we check out Miller smers board for lunch today let's go check this place out this is what Miller's smallest board looks like as you get ready to enter the building this is what it looks like as you get ready to ENT of the main dining room you'll notice they have an antique car at the hostess station the dining room area is very large let me take you around and show you the inside of the restaurant and you can see just how big this place is [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] we're going to take you around and show you what all they have to offer we're going to start with the Appetizer Bar first and right here on this end we have some hard juice sauce butter and a s sauce I've never heard of a s sauce before as we take a look at this ball you notice they have some baloney different types of cheeses they have a Swiss cheese and a cheddar cheese bread and butter pickles some banana peppers olives they have two types of shrimp they have a plain shrimp on the left steam shrimp on the right and different sauces they have mustard tter sauce hot sauce and some lemons here we have the cing stations you can get yourself some roast beef ham CV turkey and some cranberry sauce right here is the sweet and sour ball have macaroni salad apple butter cottage cheese a seafood salad some kind of peppers cream cheese with pepper Jam dill potato salad red beet eggs COA pepper cabbage some chow chow cucumbers and onions there's a lemon Oro salad just a little bit of everything they have have french fries and ketchup we have some sausage peppers and onions and then some parsley red potatoes and on this bar or the hot Entre we'll take you around and show you what all they have we have some fried chicken chicken nuggets turkey stroganov a rice peel off Brown buted noodles we have chicken pot pie sauteed mushrooms Swedish meatballs harvet beets not sure what those two items are they don't have them listed and we have some biscuits and some gravy we have some ham and cabbage this looks like some types of greens and here are some grilled vegetables on this bar you'll notice they have soups and breads all kind of soups to select from a vegetarian vegetable potato chicken corn soup sausage and cabbage soup they even have one soup called a cheeseburger soup Seafood biscuit soup vegetarian chili and a ham and bean soup and here's your crackers Butters and it has some rolls and shabata rolls here's a look at the salad barall they have the regular iceberg lettuce your Caesar salad some spinach cherry tomatoes cheddar cheese there's some more cheese over here we have mushrooms cucumbers some olives eggs red onions a broccoli salad turkey salad and here are your dressings French dressing balsamic vinegret Italian Ranch and also for your salad bar you get some raisins and crains bacon bits sunflower seeds the hot bacon dressing croutons on this bar you'll notice they have the hot Entre they have the fried chicken the corn baby carrots broccoli and cauliflower they have a lemon pepper fish mac and cheese which you just about out of some baked cabbage some potato carries stewed tomatoes beef burgundy some mashed potatoes the stuffing beef gravy and a turkey gravy on this station they call this chicken and waffles this right here your waffles and this almost looks like a chicken in Dumplings almost it does look good we'll definitely have to try that and this is the ice cream and warm pie area we'll take a look to see what all they have have apple pie peac can that's a chocolate peac can and a shoe fly Peach crumb pie carrot cake chocolate peanut butter cake oatmeal pie pumpkin pie yellow cake with chocolate icing and a no sugar added cherry pie all of these deler desserts look amazing and here is the ice cream they have some vanilla chocolate and a chocolate mint and you get your pie you bring it to the station and the man will put the ice cream on top of the pie for you or put it in a bowl or put it in a dish they have fudge brownies and as we move along we have some apple crisp and this is a bread pudding also you can get yourself some cheesecake they have salted caramel cheesecake that sure does look good your regular plain cheesecake and then a chocolate mousse and I will have to say all these desserts just look amazing and if we continue around on the bar they have different toppings they have some chocolate pudding cherry strawberry topping and some sugarfree Jell-O as an ambrosia salad some Cool Whip a regular fruit salad I'm starting with this small salad I started with spinach leaves because I do love spinach some Tomatoes cucumber some cheese sunflow seeds croutons some baking dressing some Mandarin oranges it looks good to me so I can't wait to try it I love the fact that they have spinach leaves because I do like spinach so I'm going to try a piece of this cucumber here with the dressing to see how it is now I don't normally eat dressing but I tried this dressing at another buffet in Lancaster and really liked it so let's hope I like this one just as well yeah I remember you tried that at uh yoders want it and you really liked it howy is that one it's good see car has went and fixed up several plates she either hungry this morning or her eyes was bigger than her stomach I'm not sure what 20 Swit but she's got some shrimp here some cucumbers an onion salad some rice some mushrooms a bowl of potato soup and chicken legs corn biscuit and then that's some of that stuff with chicken and W she got a dab of that I want to know how that is Carly when you try I'm curious about that and then there's some more stuff up under all this like chicken nuggets on this side it's um that's the pot pie yes pot pie so I'm curious to see what you think about all your food You' really chose some good options there Carly but your strategy here is different than mine I started with the salad and David you'll notice my salad is finished yeah it was amazing as Carly will say a lot of times about things so glad I started with the salads I know you always say skip the salad and get the food I don't know if I'm going eat anything better than this everything was fresh and that baking dress they nailed it I'm certainly am glad that you enjoyed your salad like I told you while we was in line up there looking at stuff to me everything on here looks to be fresh a higher quality than you see at most bu places I would agree with you completely on that all right David I see you fixed you up your first plate tell me what all you got all right I got a little bit of everything I didn't get a lot of of items but I just got a little bit so I can try stuff and I started I got some corn I got some of the brown Buttered Noodles couple chicken nuggets some of the baby carrots mashed potatoes with gravy I got some of that chicken over next to the chicken and waffles right here I got some steamed sauteed kale that looks really good some of the broccoli and cauliflower mixed together a roll some french fries I got some of the pot pie chicken pot pie and I think that's about covered everything I got well I know you said you got a little bit of everything oh there's a lot more up there to get it definitely is but I'm going to start with this and go back and get some more hey you got to start somewhere that's right all right I got fried chicken and you told me to get some chicken nuggets so I got that and you know I had to get my butter noodles from the Appetizer Bar I got some cheese pickles and some SP shrimp and then I went ahead and got a piece of turkey and a piece of ham I have this this sauce right here what do they call it an app a s sder sauce so this I believe goes with the ham so I'm going to try this because I've never had it that would probably be a good combination I think so all right David you've had a chance to try out some of your food tell us what you think well everything I've tried so far has been excellent everything's fresh it's hot some of my favorites I really enjoyed the chicken nuggets I thought they were delicious you know you recommended me to try those you came up to me when I was getting items off the buffet and said hey try you a couple those nuggets you know how I love chicken right hey you were spot on they're really good they were really good the uh mashed potatoes they they are homemade mashed potatoes not no instant stuff the gravy on it made them taste even better did you get the brown gravy I got the brown Gra baby I got some of that uh chicken with the chicken and waffles that was great I didn't get the waffles I just got that kind of like a chicken and duffins almost okay the corn is good the baby carrots they were great the brown noodles I enjoyed this chicken clot pie that tastes good the kale sauted kale I've never tried that before that was good and the broccoli and Carlow that's been very good so everything you've got you've enjoyed I have you know I really think it comes back to it being fresh and the seasonings they use everything has tasted great to everything has been seasoned wonderful and like I mentioned to you when we was up there just walking around filming looking and everything it appears to be like it's a u little bit higher quality than most buffet places that you see yeah I would agree well everything I've had has been delicious now this ham is very good it's not too salty and then I'm going to dip it in this solder dip that they have for it this is very sweet but it's very good on the ham so I definitely suggest trying that so I had never had it before so I wanted to try it I ate the cheese the pickles are good I have not tried the shrimp yet the chicken is very good it's not dry and the crust has a really nice flavor and I like the seeding on it so everything I've had so far from this plate has been good too I went back and got my second plate I got me some of this turkey some of the roast beef with some hot juice sauce some mashed potatoes and the filling all right David see you about finished this plate the second Plate's almost gone that roast beef is delicious I got somebody that and all juice sauce put on it I mean that was just awesome the turkey like you mentioned the turkey was great mashed potatoes that's my second help and I love mashed potatoes and graving and the stuffing or the filling they call it that was very good too I'm almost cleaned two plates up we travel number three in a few minutes so this time so so far you're going to be at uh clean The Clean Plate award times two times two okay I'm G try to get times three surely I went back got me a few more things I hadn't tried to fry chicken yet so I got me a chicken leg I got me some of those steamed shrimp a couple of the sauteed mushrooms I got me some more of the chicken pot pie I really enjoyed that the first time and I didn't see this until this time this is an iced raisin bread so I thought I would try that as well you know normally when I eat shrimp I like my shrimp heated or steamed being warm these are cold on the buff but I tell you what I've been really impressed with these are not bad at all you know David I was too I went ahead and I said I'm going to try them because most of the time when I see them like on a salad bar or something I don't even get them CU I like them hot they were really good to be chilled I got the spice did you get the spice to I got the spice and they've got them seasoned up really really nice it's good the seasoning is perfect how about the rest of your food that you guys see you're finishing up that plate yep I tried that raisin bread that raisin bread was delicious I like that I hadn't tried my chicken yet and I'm still got to try the mushrooms but the pt pie I had that earlier I really like that so I got some more why don't you try the mushrooms now I'm curious I will say while you're trying this that I believe this place is going to turn me into actually liking buffets mushrooms good too they sauté got a a very nice texture tastes great now did they sauté them right there in the middle I don't know I saw them sauté and some other stuff up there in the grill but right there in the summer you actually get to see them cooking stuff because I was wondering if it was a Grill like you go up to and you order something right but no they just cook the stuff and put out on the buffet I'm gonna look at my plate here let you know what I thought what I got all right the mashed potatoes David's mentioned he thought they were good I have to agree with agree with him on that in fact if you like butter in your mashed potatoes you can see them swimming in the butter when you get off the buffet they are not dry mashed potatoes at all you can tell the real mashed potatoes homemade so they were good and that's probably one of the reasons I like them so much cuz everything is better with butter you love butter and so does Carly um I got the the bread that was good the roll I tried this beef burgundy right here and this is kind of strange I'm looking at the camera trying to cut it but you can see I just want to show you how soft it is I went to pick up a knife I didn't need a knife for it it cut with the fort I like this the only thing about this is I do not like salt and it's a little salty for me but it still was tasty at the same time but I would recommend somebody to get that I just I'm a little bit more sensitive than Salt than most piz uh mac and cheese tasted you know good too and the sausage did so everything I've had has been good and so far no complaints on anything you get on there eventually that is delicious it's nice and creamy and that caramel sausage compliments the cheesecake you taste just a little bit of a hint of salt so The Salted Caramel salted caramel he now I have not tried this yet but I'm getting ready to Quality does it compare to what you would get when you order a dessert in a restaurant I would say yes okay everything in here that I've gotten it's been in my opinion above average for a buffet the quality it's been exceptional I think all right our waitress Linda recommended the chocolate peacon pie so that's what I got and you can see it kind of crumbled because it's so much chocolate in it and then I also got ice cream and I asked for a very small slice I just wanted to try it kind of full from the buffet so I'll definitely try it and see what I think you I mean it's like it's syrup in it plus you know they warm it for you up there and this pie is actually is kept in a warmer you mentioned warm m so it's in inside of a war so when you want this or the shoe fly pie you just ask for it they'll cut you a sight what do you think after you eating your first bite of it cind it's delicious Linda you made a great recommendation here this is really good Linda Sera also recommended the shoe fly pie so while you in Amish Country up here lanaster Pennsylvania you got to try some shoe fly pie so I got me a piece of that and that's what I'm going to try this has she said molasses brown sugar so I'm going to try it and see what I think of it I'm going to try out the shoe fly pie this is what it looks like that's a good view of it right there all right David what' you think it's a different taste to it than I'm used to but it's not bad you can definitely taste the molasses in it but overall it's something I would get every now and then I don't know if about try it all the time but it's not bad and you know when we go to different areas we like to try kind of what the regional flavors are and the dishes are so this is definitely one that is definitely a dish you think of when you think of arish you do and like I said when you're in Lancaster you got to try some arish fly pie Linda our waitress bought the ticket to the table we had two adult buffets they were 28.99 the kids Buffet ages 4 to 12 was $12.99 and then the tax added to the bill came to a total of 7523 this is our amazing waitress Linda Linda took excellent care of us today she had some nice suggestions for stuff for us to try so if you stop by Millers be sure to request Linda for your server she'll take great care of you too well Sydney what did you think about your experience today from Miller smus boy David it was absolutely wonderful I only have positive things to say about coming to Millers today I would definitely agree with you I've thoroughly enjoyed my visit at Millers today in my opinion this is probably one of the better buffets in the Lancaster area I know a lot of people they talk about the Shady Maple but in my opinion I thought the food was just as good if not even better you know a lot of times the quality on the buffet is not the best but here today I would have to say the quality on everything I had it was just amazing they had a a nice selection of food to select from and the desserts they were just amazing as well everything I tried I enjoyed it and our waitress Linda she was a fabulous waitress she took excellent care of us she kept coming by the table checking on us to see if we needed anything and that means a lot when you get a server like that takes excellent care of you and she gave us suggestions too yes she did what about your food Carly what did you think about your food here overall I really enjoyed my food it was really good the brownies over on the dessert bar were delicious they were soft they were good and yeah everything is really really good especially cheese melt to the um nuggets that was really good anything else you want to say Cindy I just want to say that I enjoyed everything I had I thought everything was well seasoned I thought it was tasty there was nothing that I had that I did not like which is saying a lot for me because I'm a little on the picky side but everything was great today and everyone who worked here was super friendly and helpful so I definitely recommend coming here this business has been here since 1929 it is the oldest smus board in Lancaster so that's saying something if you've been in business since 1929 you still operating and thriving they were so busy while we were in there lots of people coming in so it's a very popular restaurant and also I don't know if y'all noticed or not but we've got some new t-shirts
