In this episode it looks like we're going on a
holiday on a beautiful green island with clear blue water but... when you look closely you can
see abandoned military relics scattered around. The island was forbidden for
tourists for almost 50 years. Venture with us inside these amazing old
bunkers and other military facilities and as always we have some
unpleasant surprises while exploring. Hi I'm bob, an urban explorer and with friends I explore the most amazing
abandoned places worldwide. We travel to Croatia for some new adventures.
After spending a night in the car we head to the ferry in the early morning. Our next
adventure takes us to a remote island. We have to take two different
ferries to get there. After more than half a day we finally arrive
at the island Lastovo. Hi guys we're in Croatia for a new adventure I'm with Eelco, you haven't
seen him in a long time but he's back in action. and on this trip it's gonna be beaches beers
and bunkers. There are a lot of old Yugoslavian facilities which are abandoned and we just
arrived on an island which was once forbidden for foreigners and there are a lot of military relics.
We're gonna check out some bunkers right now. This island was occupied by Italy from
1918 until 1943. After the second world war Lastova became a military island during
the Communist period of Yugoslavia. Because of that it was forbidden for foreigners.
After Croatia declared independence in 1991 the people's army of Yugoslavia stayed in Lastovo
until 1992. Since 1988 foreigners were welcomed after tourists were not allowed for 50 years. This
is why the island is still pristine very green and not overrun by tourists. On this island you
can still find military bases, submarine and ship bunkers, fuel bunkers, ammunition bunkers
and much more. Exploring with 40 degrees great. When you get onto the island the
military presence is obvious. You are welcome by big concrete buildings and
of course we have to check everything we see. I think it's reinforced concrete. It's
a restaurant. We should check it out. Wide open here. Oh [ __ ] that's a
different part okay. Military doors. Actually it makes sense if it's military right? You know what that means. We're in? The building seems to be closed and it's
useless to invest more time and sweat in it since we have tons of places to check. With 40
degrees 104 fahrenheit it's really tempting with these beautiful beaches to call it a day, have
a beer and chill but we're here on a mission. So here's a submarine bunker, that's one of
the things we have on the list for today. We enter a bay with a lot of military relics but
when you have a view like this you wouldn't expect that there are tons of bunkers. You want to go in the bunker? Yeah. So while driving we found this, we don't know what it is guess it's a
fuel bunker or an ammunition bunker. Nice and cold in here man. Oh this is it or what?
Oh no ah I think these are the fuel bunkers. Check this, look how big
these are. Pretty far. Sick. yeah. they had provisions for the whole island,
different story than just a military base. Looks still in good condition looks like it even
got painted or something or just black from the oil. Nice. Dirty [ __ ] This is transparent, you could probably see how full the tank was. In total there were three fuel bunkers with
24 tanks with a capacity of 680.000 liter. Next to it is another bunker, probably the same. Different number.
Tank number 24. Pretty nice tile work but for the rest rubbish. This house at the coast with a beautiful view
is nothing too special but it looks like the perfect place to camp. We definitely have to
come back and spend the night here on the roof. All empty. Check it? Yeah maybe quick.
Where can I park? Next to that guy. Okay just a quick check no gimbal. I think it will be immense hot in here Showers and stuff. Nice view here, but a little
bit higher would be better. These buildings are close to a dock. It was
probably a warehouse or a repair center for ships. So here the whole ceiling came down. Okay most of these buildings turn out to be boring
and empty. Time to find the interesting things. And another one where also the ceiling collapsed. So by coincidence we found another bunker. We don't know how deep it goes so we're gonna find
out. Not a good sign, lots and lots of trash here. Because it's directly at a beach so.
There supposed to be a door in here. It's bigger than I expected. Yeah for me too, I
thought it was a little storage, but look at this. The corridors are going everywhere.
I'm just going to check piece by piece. Okay, a generator was here. Ammunition box. It's wood. Cave crickets here.
Wow they're big. Scorpion, scorpion. Yeah fillm it. Oh it's a nice one. Woooo, It jumped on my legs. Like what the [ __ ] This reminds me of Taiwan.
I was thinking the same, we make the same noises. If you like creepy critters you should
definitely check out our Taiwan series. Here are the other creepy critters. You can't
really see it on the other camera. Lots of them. They're all chilling. Frederik would have liked this. Damn he's so black
he absorbs all the light, I shine directly on him. All those animals in here. Oh this is a dead end. Oh my, oh they are everywhere
on the wall these animals. Everywhere. Imagine you have an insect
phobia. This is not a nice place. Worst nightmare for some people here.
I had that one on my face in Croatia on another trip. Also in taiwan we saw this one .Here, a nice
spider. This is the bunker of nightmares. that is a nice urbex name all right the Animal
Planet is over. I don't think it's a huge bunker, but we should check it out. Yeah, looks like there's
are some protective things and this is the main corridor. I think this is an ammunition bunker. Another ammunition box. They're everywhere man. Holy [ __ ] this is huge. Wow look at this. Storage for the ammunition. You can hear the echo. yeah.
Here there are no insects. No. It's really humid in here. It is. Emergency hatch. There will be multiple of these bunkers. Such an interesting island Really large, crazy. It's really nice. It's
nice exploring here right yeah. Beaches and bunkers. We checked everything now right? Yeah we did. Okay. And there you can see paradise
instead of this shitty underground stuff. So this is the top of the ammunition
bunker I think this is the emergency hatch. Cool shape. Looks like a "spitzbunker" in German. Let
me check, yep you can go inside here. We want to have a quick lunch but
already spot another bunker entry. No time to lose. So we had a little break lunch
and we saw another one. Cool entrance by the way. Really nice look at the trees here. There's a
rail here and here, a big door. that's a bit messy.
The generator room. two little generators used to stand here and in the
back there seems to be a little bit of stuff. Well, just some wooden parts, nothing really
interesting. It's also nice to see how thick the walls are, I would say
60 centimeters or something 50, 60 centimeters. Yeah that's serious stuff. Yeah. Oh it's good
there to be here on the hottest moment of the day. It's like running into an air conditioning
Here the plating changes. Oh wow. This is cool yeah it's
pretty big. This door is stuck. Let me see if there's some interestingstuff laying on the ground. Mattress. Mattresses yeah but these are
totally moldy... and the filling of the mattresses yeah. So people were living here actually. Elevator? No escape hatch. Cool. Let's go. So this goes to another exit. I can
already hear the crickets outside. You can already see crickets again. I think we will end up at the ammunition
storage here again. This door is in a even better condition. Well it's a big one. Looks like a gymnasium.
I think this was a warehouse with shelves. Yeah there were shelves. Probably nothing up there. Looks like they adjusted the floor later. Yeah. Here's a cart junction and there's
also for a crane in the top yeah. Heavy stuff was loaded in here. Again such a moist room here, you
can see the fog. Yeah I can see it. Another junction. There supposed to be a plate on it. To chsange direction. Yeah indeed, but that was all taken out. Would have been nice to see some footage from
when it was in operation, yeah but probably all was classified. Of course yeah. Our little friends again.
Jesus christ the way they move is also freaky. This looks pretty new it doesn't look even military. Here you see how it was built.
Yeah it's really getting rotten. oh my god, it's like paper. It's too humid. I like that it's not all straight you know. I can feel the warmth again. Really nice in summer... to explore a bit, jump by the water, explore some
more bunkers, jump in the water again, have a beer. Time to go to the submarine and
ship bunker which we spotted before. Walk at least 600 meters approximately. I'm not sure if we can get there easily but we'll see. Really nice trail, next to the barbed wire. While we had to hike the rich arrive here with a yacht. Pretty small, yeah the other one went way deeper. It's crazy they just stopped the excavation there. Didn't even bother to finish it. Oh this is
it or what? Oh I expected at least one corridor. Okay. These bunkers were built for
ships and submarines to hide them.. and to keep them safe from attacks. On
this island you can find two of these. Looks like this was a spare submarine shelter
instead of the real one. Yeah this is it man. Well this was not really
what I expected. If you want to see a really cool submarine bunker check out this episode. Getting ready for a late dinner. Dinner for tonight. We found an epic sleeping spot too. You guys
will see later. Time to go to our sleeping spot. Building looks like [ __ ] but the view is great. It's a shame they put graffiti there
this year, everything dates from 2022. The beer should I take it? You can pass it over. Is it just straight or? Yeah.
That's a bit lower there. Our prepared sleeping spot on the roof some booze on the left. And up here we have an amazing starry night. Apparently the starry sky here is one of the most beautiful in Europe... due to dark sky and low-light pollution.
Unfortunately it looks like [ __ ] on video. Good morning. Very nice view. Eelco is going to get some breakfast. Hot already I'm melting. It's seven o'clock it's already
too hot to sit on the roof. So. Have to hurry yeah, hurry
and have a breakfast inside the building. First fried egg on an abandoned location. Checking another place there might be a bunker I don't know but... there's only one way to find out. Well
I guess there's just a pile of rubbish let's peek around the corner I don't
know maybe they dynamited the entrance because I see cables I see some military
clothing, I think it's not just a regular dump because you can see the cans,
the gas masks a lot of green shoes. Next! We head back to the bay to explore a building we missed yesterday. Pretty nice really nice decay in this building.
Nice colors on the walls you can see the different layers of colors they had and much more
greenery inside this building than the others. Bob check this. Well I know there were Communist
minded but not Soviet. Seems original. This one too I just can't really see what this
is, is this a harbor or something? isn't it a mine? no, that's a gun man you see.
that's ah this is the cannon and this a rifle I think. But sea mines also look like that you see on the top right? Yeah. The gang leader, the alpha male. Yeah. We drive to the military base which is in a remote part of the island. The road is blocked. They're really slow. Look at the little one here. I step out of the
car and see this M81 it says maybe a smoke bomb anyway not a great idea to throw this here
unless you want to lit up half the island. It's like a half relics from the Yugoslavian
past and half just trash and dump from the local people on the island. Do
you see something interesting up there?
Empty. It's a nice bonus though. Look at the ceiling here. Oh yeah. Is this all newer stuff? An uniform from... 1985 the year I was born. Just a quick check of another building. Oh nice entry no graffiti. The decay is nice. I guess all the houses have an amazing view here. I thought these buildings were a
little bit newer but they aren't. Little amphitheater with a nice backdrop. Oh and a date. Yeah 1970, okay... pretty new.
This is really like Croatian tradition. yeah Yeah you told me like every one carves the date
in any cement or concrete. Crazy we saw even 2022. Well that's it for now. In the next
episode we have to brave more goats climb fences and misbehave and explore the most
interesting bunker on the island with some big ass guns. Thanks for watching please leave a
comment and thumbs up if you liked the video and subscribe to our channel if you
haven't already. See you next week.
