I miss watching Mike. Every time we got down within 5 yards of the goal line you knew it was going to him and he was going to fly over that line.

Great, I was already struggling to work this Monday, and here I am watching this for probably the 15th or more time.

You know, nothing really makes me happier knowing that he and Mr. Derrick Brooks never played for other teams. I still cringe seeing Warrick Dunn in a Falcons jersey and Lynch in a Broncos uni. (Edit, also Ronde <3 )

Also equally happy to see him stick around the Tampa area after retirement.

That HDR effect on the video is really freaking me out.

But damn, gotta love the A Train!

Met Mike quite a few times, always randomly around town. He used to get his truck worked on in the same hole-in-the-wall shop I did on Ulmurton in Pinellas. Great individual and amazing player. Left a legacy that we've always wanted back, that good old bucs power run offense

Dude last night on twitter I think it was sports center or some ESPN handle made a list of the top ten RBs that were the hardest to tackle. They did not include Michael The A Train Alstott. What a bunch of sucktards.

Later in his career, when Gruden stopped using him and everyone kept clamoring for him to be more involved in the offense, he had a run against the Redskins that just perfectly summed it up.

The first play on this video is unspectacular, but it was his first carry in a while and the crowd went bonkers. Brian Baldinger on commentary starts talking about how every time Alstott touches the ball it energizes the fanbase and that he needs to be involved in the offense. Just as he's saying that, A-Train gets another carry and absolutely destroys the poor bastard who gets in his way. Just knocks the soul out of the guy and keeps running like nothing happened.

God I miss Alstott.

P.S. -- Shitty video quality but it's all I could find of that play.

third down and goal from a yard there's no second effort touchdown table bang that's how the guy ran one anvil smash after another it was it damnedest run I ever saw the eight-track oh man a train was down three back all stop would haunt me tonight he gave us everything yeah I'll start up the gut that was the favorite Warren loves it the gun he goes to the answer God's chosen for me to be here that's an awesome feeling hand off all style running right Alstott shakes a tackle shakes it makes the time keeps his balance I won't know what I'm gonna do after I retire I'm gonna be lost today I'm here I pushed officially to announce my retirement from tampa bay buccaneers there's a lot of people out there that thank me we're doing what playing football scoring touchdowns we're going out there and trying to help some people in this community that they need help I I thank them for their support because they made it fun Mike Alstott began making his mark right from the start of his rookie season in 1996 but I don't think we felt that he would be as good a runner as he's turned out to be and I think our offense kind of revolves around Mike and all the things that he can do the Buccaneers drafted the full-back from Purdue in the second round and the a train soon showed his power was second to none who is this good can you believe that made chicken salad out of chicken something else that's just great running that want to get him pranked up that is sheer out this is never seen anything like that in my what a spectacular effort your heart isn't formed like a paint shaker right now I don't know what you're made of that's just fire good God Almighty what makes him such a fan favorite is you just see the effort and the desire on every run that he has the way this town embraces my Costco blue-collar hard-nosed football and Mike Alstott was writing it right in the middle of it all likes to get dirty likes to scrimmage likes to play he's happy as he can be he will stay here the rest of his life he is one of our citizens as a citizen he's always been ready to lend a helping hand as a player he helped the Buccaneers revitalize a franchise that had languished for over a decade for so many years Mike Hall started knock kick it was all we had Mike all start to kick in the punter that was our office if Mike did score it Mike didn't catch it Mike didn't run it over Mike to do it it wasn't going for us in 1997 the Bucks were reborn raise the battle flag cuter power Tampa Bay was coming off as six and ten season in 1996 but Alstott in the Buccaneers started the 1997 season five and all oh man by the a train Alstott scored ten touchdowns at Tampa Bay won ten games Mike Alstott is playing like a champion on my little kids today all Stan is just founded for the first time in 15 years the Buccaneers were heading to the playoffs Michael Stotts 31 yard touchdown put away the Lions as Tampa Bay won their first postseason game in 18 years in 1997 the Buccaneers were reborn and Mike Alstott was a cornerstone of that rebirth train track it's all start up the gut please pick to the dough Seto he made the Pro Bowl six straight years from 1997 through 2002 in 1999 he helped lead Tampa Bay to the NFC Championship and back to the playoffs in 2000 and 2001 here's the step up the gut goes the a-train runs into a block effects attack you breaks the tackle 35 all that running up together the five stop go three now we win this ballgame let's go on the shot seven ready Tampa Bay always seemed to clean up when Alstott was on his game and as fans remembered he had a laundry list of classic games the falcons run you can watch it over and over again and it really defines Mike's a determination and how inspiring a runner he is and off to refusing to goat he is looking for somebody to hit if there's a safety or a linebacker he's going to plow into that person and maybe just knock him down and keep running and against the Falcons that was what happened there's a 70% chance of rain today of the Tampa Bay area but who cares it's the brand-new Raymond James Stadium debut of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today it's the Bucs versus the Bears and the place is already jam-packed and rockin and rollin as we get ready to win our first game of 98 September 20th 1998 was the debut of Raymond James Stadium and the Buccaneers quickly fell behind the Bears Tampa Bay rallied from a 15-point deficit touchdown Oh but ball means pounding the rod all Stotts back field made Warrick Dunn did just that as Tampa Bay continued their comeback we'll talk about that next time Joey seed only guy you see right down it the rest of the rally rested on all starts broad shoulders I know the heat was brutal and so was all stats running against the Bears defense instead of resting up Alstott sucked it up opponents didn't like tackling all stuff but they did respect him so ball stuff sup man I'm trying rah when the Buccaneers play the Bears later in 1998 Alstott was again the deciding factor to the 5 3 2 1 touchdown Tamburlaine all stop refusing I got a chance to see Mike in his prime when I look at Mike you have to think about the a-train when I think about it mom so I think about the Washington rest in it's true Michael Scott did had a history of running over Redskins starting in the late 90s Tampa Bay in Washington had developed a bit of a rivalry one of the driving forces of the Buccaneers getting the better of the Redskins was always the a-train in 2005 all stats stunned Washington with under a minute left and Tampa Bay trailing by one point Buck's are gonna go from Chu and try to win this thing here's the staff to handle all time over-the-top secondaries that's oh goody call dear ajahn rude baby one time let's kick up and kick ass right the Buccaneers face the undefeated Vikings in week 9 of the 1998 season Minnesota jumped to an early lead number forty led the way to an improbable buccaneers upset all stats touchdown with five minutes and 48 seconds left gave Tampa Bay a 2724 lead let's go I'll start let's go number 40 ran out the quad and ruined the Vikings perfect season only one team beat Minnesota in the regular season in 1998 the Tampa Bay Buccaneers let's go get in there he made the Saints also-rans when he ran them over in 2001 we got the look oh we got the long the we got one go back and look at that touchdown run in the playoffs where he has to switch directions and the scores 13 to nothing at the time it completely changes the game shuffle off its McLeod and all stop the snap paid off all style running right all stock takes the tackle shakes and fakes attack keeps his balance eh-eh the place goes crazy and the Bucks go on to win 1413 but Tampa Bay went only so far each year all that changed in 2002 everyday you built you put blocks down you guys ever see a mansion a big beautiful mansion you got to build a foundation man that's what we're doing here understand that you got to build the blocks you got to put blocks on every day stay together and understand that one thing we got to do we got to do you and I well coach confidence you know when they say you make gumbo you need to make the roof because that's the base of it that's what Mike was that was our flavor under new head coach Jon Gruden the Buccaneers had the NFL's toughest runner and its most ferocious defense Tampa Bay's defense became the first since the 1985 Chicago Bears to leave the NFL in total defense points allowed and interceptions almost he played like us he play like us it was no nonsense I know I'm going you know where I'm going now do something about it my host I was coming at the at the one hole or at the zero hole cuz I'm about it it hit nine times out of ten we were waiting with him 2002 saw plenty of winning for the Buccaneers and Alstott helped lead the way with seven touchdowns and almost 800 yards from scrimmage in 2002 Alstott made his 6th straight Pro Bowl once again defenses had problems figuring about what he was was the catalyst of the offense whether he was running or blocking the team had always been better with him on the field like was very quiet but he was a leader on that team because of the way he played when he was running the football no one was sitting on the bench on that sideline here at my my everybody wanted to get up and see what he was gonna do to the next guy the Cleveland Brown game was a hot day man it was just it was so hot and where it's a slugfest and I think it's a ten nothing game we're gonna end up winning 17 nothing maybe 17 3 these guys are melting fans are know is that hot it's 115 heat index so we bring all studying and we run 96 power the run lasted five minutes he went from right to left to right to left and it was one anvil smash after another it was the damnedest rut I ever saw it all stop gets the call zigzag I mean it was unbelievable and uh he had two or three of those runs in that game but he was a great closer you know he was a great closer Tampa Bay hosted a playoff game after a 12 and 4 regular season Alstott helped the buccaneers run over the san francisco 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs my balls doc gets the ball I love you guys man I love you I'm so happy for you work their asses off to get to this stage now let me tell you guys will play the Philadelphia Eagles now on Sunday in Veterans Stadium it's pounding the rock time give it to the a-train go Mike hey Mike Rowe it is 3:27 ago man that's it Costa touchdown Tampa Bay on San Diego welcome to San Diego California Super Bowl 37 it was the first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history and mr. Buccaneer was determined to make the most of it put your game listen all stop pave the way for running back Michael Pittman to have a 100 yard day nice I see you Michael Alstott was certainly ready to run and to run over Raiders the first touchdown in Tampa Bay's Super Bowl history was fittingly scored by mr. Buccaneer stop it man Tampa Bay cruise to one of the most lopsided wins in Super Bowl history touchdown yes the daggers the Lombardi Trophy resides in Tampa Florida how bout them Buccaneers although injuries would slow all stop throughout the rest of his career he was a vital part of the team's playoff run in 2005 all stop retired with a team record 71 touchdowns and over 5,000 yards rushing ends it all falls down Rams over the top as he hits a touchdown Tampa Bay and the Bucs answer the old-fashioned way rabbit right after gut the moment of victory from their Super Bowl win has been preserved forever in Tampa the memory of that moment and of the man who helped make it happen will live for eternity Mike Alstott is gone from the football field but ever-present in the hearts of those who watched him work wonders we selected our team captains we let our players select who the captains were going to be and for the first time in my career as a coach it was unanimous at 53 people selected the same guy all I can do is celebrate what has been a great career an unbelievable career if you needed a yard Mike got you too if you needed to grind out a game at the end Mike was the man for you you truly are by far the most exciting player I have ever seen play this game I'm really really humbled and honored and just can't tell you how much fun it was for me to coach Mike all stuff there's no question the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been in good hands with all stop you're one of the most outstanding Tampa Bay Buccaneers to ever play the game I'm so proud to be a father of three and be able to play in as a league and see them watch your daddy play football and be able to experience and that's something I always cherish and everything you've ever given to me everyone in this room I will cherish you forever thinking you you
