hello slicer Dicers this is brian with another knife review for you today we have the micro tech SOCOM elite first of all I want to thank metal complex I'm gonna link to him down below to his channel he loaned this to me a very cool channel very nice guy up and coming racking up followers like crazy if he gets too much closer to me I will have to strike him down as the sis law indicates but uh though he's a nice guy and I you should go check him out please link go subscribe all this stuff I'll put it down below but really cool knife and one that I would not have normally got my hands on micro tech is known primarily for their automatics automatics are illegal in New York so they're not really on my radar much this is a manual so kama elite and they're pretty big it's bigger than I would normally carry it's a little over four inches actually I have not left the house with this because it is just a bit more than then the the law allows in New York State to in that regard to four inches our max and this is like just a hair over four inches and if I made a cop mad it would it would be a problem but a really cool knife pretty big and tactical but I really like it it's it's it's really really cool and it's only the second micro tech I've ever even touched buddy my knee has one of their ot FS and I really like it but again I can't carry it outside my house so I've never bought one so thank you again for 2 metal complex for loaning it to me let's do some stats for it get too much farther first of all the price on this is not that bad 275 they are not currently very much available in the manual versions I found several of the autos that you could buy the manuals are are pretty rare a few and far between this one was made as it says in the blade in June of 2018 they they made them last in 2012 but they're if you're not too picky about configuration or if it's auto or manual you can still get your hands on one so this in a lot of places still listed as like coming soon or pre-order so I do think they're gonna be out again I don't think this was like a quick run and then never see him again but rambled on enough about that you have an overall length of just over nine inches about nine point one inches was a big sucker blade length of four inches you they said just a bit over four inches you have a blade thickness pretty thick I measured it it was a zero point I'm trying to remember now I didn't write that one stat down we'll check it right in front of ourselves here that's fun yeah so I thought zero point one nine one nine two pretty thick blade stock and you have a handle thickness of 0.55 with a weight of not bad at all for the size of this knife you look at all aluminum handles and it's it's only five and five point six ounces that's not bad your knife this big that's not too crazy I don't think do a few size comparisons here to give you an idea you have your Ontario rat model one which is also a pretty big knife but using a C this is bigger I don't have a whole lot of stuff this big another one of our standards your Spyderco paramilitary to considerably bigger than that well what's some other big stuff we got here yeah this is the biggest knife that I regularly carry your zero tolerance oh five six to tie bigger than that and what's the other this is the since I have it out this is the like closest most other like tactical thing that I have the Hogue x5 this is the three and a half inch they do make the hook x5 in a four inch which would be very very similar in size to this okay bang at the camera stand there sorry about that talk more about this the blade on this yeah it is pretty thick blade stock and you're looking at this is so hard to measure I don't know why I do this on camera sometimes I should do it off camera but you got 25 thousands behind the edge it's not it's it's a pretty good grind it comes super wicked sharp as m390 Steel's really good steel and it really nice robust piercing too no it's not meant to be a slicer this is definitely meant to be a tactical knife I mean it's called the SOCOM elite it's not meant to be you know going out and just slicing through paper and doing water wheel is caught detail work is what we always like to say in the knife review community it's not really mine for that this is a tactical knife and the blade is perfectly designed for that and I really like the finish on it everything's nicely chamfering and stuff they did a really good job with it yes the overall look is very tactical it's got this kind of grip tape stuff on it but it works good I like it better than the grippy stuff that comes on the Kershaw blur and the overall look is you know pretty tactical but for what it is I kind of like it it's kind of grown on me to be honest with you I first may open and I was like yeah whatever not my thing but I wanted to try it out because it isn't my thing you gotta expand your horizons and yeah it's kind of it's definitely growing on me it is very very tactical that I did not take this apart cuz again it's not mine there are a lots of screws on here but it shouldn't be too hard it's just basically a liner lock so it shouldn't be too hard to take apart put back together I don't know what their policies on that are you see these two bolts for the inset steel liner lock in the aluminum frame yeah I I'm fine with the looks of it and I'm definitely fine with the quality of it does feel like a very very very very well-built knife for sure a glass breaker on the end yeah whatever I never liked glass breakers I can't tell if you can take that one off or not it definitely looks like you could yeah cuz steel in a wheel no I think you could just take it apart remove that glass breaker and put it back together which if I ever bought one first thing I would do yeah let's move on to ergonomics excellent for what it's designed for it actually just even just to carry it it's very comfortable in the hand definitely but for that's designed to be you know reverse grip feels really good everything you'd want about it you have that nice grippy it is very grippy works great I like that it's only grippy on the one side because when we get to the carry we'll talk about we'll talk about now it is only tip down carry this is a knife that as I said first came out in 2012 and when they came out the new ones they didn't add they didn't had a tip down carry or left hand it's right hand tip up yeah right hand tip down carry only they never added a tip up I kind of wish they would have that might push me over the edge to actually want one but yeah right now you're just you're too stuck with that not a whole lot sticking out of the pocket though if it carries fairly deep and it's not hard to get your hand past or anything like that it does actually carry for the size of it is better than I expected it to man listen to that noise but yeah I do wish there are more carry options as you just saw spoiler I just flicked it open the action on this thing is insane it's just it's just bonkers I don't know how else to describe it it's just it's so smooth and depth sound it makes when it flicks open it flicks open with some authority the detent on it is not stiff it's just exactly what I like it's right on the edge of being stiff just the thumb stud deployment man that sound this is one of the only knives I flick over there my wife can hear it downstairs it's so loud and I that's good that's a good thing to me I like that very very cool definitely for what it's intended for if you're gonna flip this open in a dark alley somebody's gonna know it it's like the knife sound equivalent of rack and a shotgun and when you close it the action is just so good like I said I'm just so impressed with the quality of it and I've always wanted a micro tech OTF I so want a miter check out yet but they are not legal in my state and I'm just glad I got my Hannah one of their manuals and I'm gonna keep looking and if they make one that's a little bit smaller I haven't looked at their models a whole lot maybe they already do but I would I would like to own own a micro tech and especially at 275 this is it's a pretty good bargain micro talks pretty premium brand I guess it's kind of we would microsecond all over all cuz I do look at their automatics even though I can't want a minute I always thought they were super expensive it's not that they're expensive is that they're hard to get they're pretty reasonably priced they just do very limited runs and they're just difficult to get your hands on but yeah made in the USA obviously if I didn't mention that before very very cool very glad I got to experience this and I could bring it to you guys and and if you watch this video and you fall in love with it I hope you can find one and then this wasn't just a tease if you live in a state where the automatic one is available yeah I'd probably this is one knife and probably by the automatic if you're gonna go go that's crazy katti hot oh I mean if you're gonna go nuts go nuts right very very cool knife though it comes in a bunch of different blade finishes and colors and all that stuff so I hope you guys have enjoyed this I've been Brian have a good one
