MGMT is a band whos music i can just visualize.
Oracular Spectacular will always have a special place in my heart. It came in at the calm before the storm, when I was still an optimistic high schooler, when I had grand ideas about my life and huge aspirations. I believed myself healthy and powerful, capable of doing great things. I was about to set off to college, with the hope of making a name of myself. This album was my soundtrack at the time.
I have since lost much of that, as my health has deteriorated and my ambitions curbed due to hearing loss. Last time I heard this album, I had to stop because of all my conflicting feelings. In a way, the person who heard and fell in love with it all those years ago died. I am someone else now. It hurts to realize that the guy who fell in love with this album is lost to me forever. But that was the hand I was dealt with, and I have to make the best of it now.
Sometimes I get nostalgic, and I think of all the good moments in my life. I wish I still had my hearing, as it was my outlet to escape.
Ah I remember the Chiddy Bang version of this song. Great stuff.
It's called Opposite of Adults.
First time I've seen the video for this. That poor kid is going to need therapy when he is older.
