MEXICAN AMERICAN's first RAMADAN: Iftar on the BEACH

oh what's good everyone we made it to the first stop of the trip we made it through miles and miles of desert and it was insane we're literally vertical going down the hill the reason we're alive I don't know our driver is amazing but these views are incredible it's a little bit windy so I'm trying to cover the mic but we got to take in these views for a second but we'll catch up on the next spot let's go [Music] [Music] w [Music] [Music] Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is considered one of the holiest months in Islam it is a period of fasting prayer reflection and Community for Muslims worldwide during Ramadan Muslims fast from dawn until sunset abstaining from food drink including water smoking and certain behaviors the fast is broken each evening with a meal called ifar Beyond fasting Ramadan is a time for increased devotion and spiritual growth Muslims engage in extra prayers recitation of the Quran and acts of Charity during this month the goal is to strengthen one's relationship with Allah seeking forgiveness for past sins and cultivate empathy for those less fortunate the origin of Ramadan lies in Islamic tradition and is believed to have begun when the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him specifically during the month of Ramadan the Islamic lunar calendar which is based on the cycles of the Moon plays a crucial role in determining the timing of Ramadan the first revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad is said to have occurred during the month of Ramadan in the year 610 CE in a cave on Mount Hira near Mecca and present day Saudi Arabia over the centuries Ramadan has evolved into a month-long period of intense spiritual activity Community worship and social solidarity among Muslims worldwide it remains a Cornerstone of Islamic faith and practice deeply ingrained in the cultural and religious fabric of Muslim communities across the globe Muslims come from diverse ethnic cultural and linguistic backgrounds they make up a significant portion of the world's population with over 1 .8 billion adherents representing a wide range of nationalities and traditions [Music] [Music] so we made it to our ifar meal the Sun is setting the ocean is beautiful we're with some amazing people about to eat some great food and let's dig into it so it came with what looks like P Deo but Arabic version we have some hummus this one has pomegranates in it another hummus can't go wrong with too much hummus we got some some barbecue chicken and with the Arabic rice now we got the chips and salsa ni just play it looks like chips with special type of salad looks super delicious I think he said this was Lamb with a Biryani rice you got the Falafel and samosas right yeah samosas then we got Shish tauk the chicken and we got French fries Arabic bread some chilies onions and sweet dessert pastry some juices some Arabic coffee and some dates traditional uh qari dates so let's dig into this food it looks delicious and enjoy our meal [Music] [Music] so Muslims break their fast by eating dates so let's give this one a try like delicious o yeah oh yeah [Music] delicious got some samosa the spot yeah got to dip it in the hummus lethal combo so we take it back it wasn't Arabic coffee it was farac tea similar to coffee but this one's unsweetened and it still has good flavor got to give it to him on this next up we got the fle they pretty much have this everywhere like every corner store you go to they'll be able to get some of this here just meat fill super economical too so can't go wrong with these pulio what do you think good what what do you like the most is very good I had the lamb as well very tender very nice rice or fire as well think overall pretty good good chip we got the Shish to work with the french fries get in on there so the Shish to is just chicken cubes and the marinated sauces and then they rip it man great protein great gas life is good
