why did the pony ask for a glass of water because he was a little hoarse oh hey guys welcome back to the cell with cease visual effects Commercial Series last week we looked at removing a logo from a foam thinker with content aware fill if you didn't see part one we used content aware fill in Photoshop and after effects to remove the logo from foam fingers today I'm going to use mocha Pro's mesh tracking inside of after effects to replace the cover of this book let's get started [Music] foreign I wanted to use the mesh tracker so that as he moved or bent the book the new cover would bend with the prop mesh tracking is unfortunately only available in mocha Pro and not in the free mocha AE inside of After Effects in mocha Pro I outlined the cover and went below frame the reason being that if he raised the book up we would still want tracking information from the part of the book that is currently off screen I selected a mesh track and tracked forward and I'll stop it as it goes out of frame if you don't see all of the options for mesh tracking you may be in the essentials view click this drop down and go to classic now if you don't get a solid track there's a lot of options that you can mess with but this gave me a pretty good result out of the box you can see that even as the camera is whip panning it does a pretty good job of staying with it then I'll scrub to a frame to make it the Mainframe that I'll do the VFX work on and I'll hit this button to show the planner surface and I'll hit this button to expand the planar surface to the edge of the frame now this is guidance directly from Boris FX the creators of mocha Pro basically we can paint anywhere on the frame now and it will move along with the mesh track that we've created I'll exit mocha and save my mocha project now I'll create a marker so that I can remember which frame that I had selected in mocha Pro so I measured the cover of the book and I saw that it was about a 6x9 aspect ratio so I created a 600 by 900 pixel comp and I mocked up this magazine cover then I placed it in frame inside of the yellow outlining rectangle that already exists and I added a mesh warp effect to match it up with our footage plus some levels adjustments to match our footage and then I pre-composed it then I copied the mocha Pro effect from our footage onto it and under module renders I will check render and set module to stabilize warp and if I scrub through it you can see that it's moving along with our footage if you run into an issue where it cuts off at the bottom because it lifts the magazine up that's an easy fix so for the same reason that we drew our spline larger in the beginning I'll go into the pre-comp that we just created and increase the height of the comp now if we go back here you'll see that it is way too sharp this was a tough balance of wanting to make it legible for the viewer to quickly read it but also not tip our hat that it's clearly CG I'll add a camera lens blur effect and set it to seven and I'll make sure that repeat Edge pixels is checked and if I scroll to the right you'll see that where the whip pan happens the tracking gets a little funky now we could go back to mocha and tweak some things but as you'll see in a little bit we can work with this we'll pre-compose this one more time now I'll add a pixel motion blur to this so that it matches the motion blur of the shot and yikes this is looking rough let's up our samples to 20 and increase the shutter angle to 270. so this is starting to work a lot better and since we don't need our samples to be that high the entire shot I'll keyframe our samples to be the default value of five before the pan and 20 right before the pan happens I also added a little noise this was a little bit quicker for me than doing like a match grain effect or or adding grain and it's still a little chunky in some places so I might add a little directional blur and keyframe it accordingly and here was the final results their son's bedroom is now a workout room they'll never use like most of the rooms in their house except the bathroom where Bill is still yelling occupied even though no one is asking fortunately it was a two-part Commercial Series there's a running gag about the mom making spaghetti too often so in the first commercial the dad's reading spaghetti digest and in the second commercial he's reading this downsizing magazine and that was magazine replacement with mesh tracking I know mocha Pro is a little pricey but it's been really useful lately for a few of the shots in this series as well as a lot of other visual effect shots I worked on lately I've been hearing really good things about surface mesh tracking inside of DaVinci Resolve now I've been a little hesitant to jump into resolve infusion for my visual effects workflow but if this video gets 5000 views I'll do a tutorial on mess tracking inside of fusion that should be enough that I don't have to do it right as always like subscribe comment and we'll see you on the next one today's video is brought to you by mocha Pro no it's not no it's not but only because we haven't heard back from them yet uh yeah actually they said they got all seven of your emails and they're not interested oh that that feels worse actually I guess uh they gave us the mocha no
