Mercedes is stuck in a loop and can't seem to find their way out from the first race in Bahrain to the fifth round in China it's been a constant dance of moving forward and then slipping back the team keeps saying they're fast and just figuring things out but things seem to be changing after China are there Promises of speed just talk to make things more heated a rival team has openly criticized Mercedes adding to their troubles plus Toto wolf made comments that didn't sit well with others in the racing world and there's still a big problem at Mercedes that no one can solve yet so let's dive into this video today to learn more about the Mercedes drama unfolding this weekend Toto Wolf the Mercedes team principal sparked a significant reaction from Christian haer his long-standing rival from Red Bull wolf had been quite vocal about Max vapen Red Bull's three-time world champion which seemed to irritate haa this Clash could be due to some sensitive issues in involving allegations of workplace malpractice within Red Bull earlier in the year which might have added to herner's heightened sensitivity Herer responded strongly ensuring his retorts targeted wolf directly the question arises what did Wolf say that annoyed horer so much the comment that set off the dispute involved Wolf's perspective on ven's future in Formula 1 after a conversation with Yos ven Max's father who has been critical of Christian Horner wolf mentioned there are so many factors that play a role in a driver joining when you look at it from the most rational point of view you can say that's the quickest car in the hands of the quickest driver but I don't think this is the only reason you stay where you are let's say Simple Minds that might be the only reason why you stay in a car and that's it but maybe there are more depths for some people that consider other factors too I think that Max has that implications and Future speculations despite mercedes's recent struggles on the track wolf hinted that vapen might be looking Beyond immediate results and considering his long-term future especially with new regulations on the horizon wolf stated in that respect are we able to convince him I don't think it's a matter of convincing I think that Max knows Motor Racing better than anyone he will take decisions that he feels are good for him I think a few factors play a role but he's the one that's going going to trigger some more Domino stones to fall in afterwards everybody is waiting for what he's going to do recently he also suggested that despite Red Bull having the fastest car max foren might consider other factors before deciding to stay with the team Beyond 2025 wolf said if I were Max I would stay at Red Bull in 2025 but I'm not Max it's the quickest car but there are still other factors Wolf's comment implies that there may be some behind the scenes issues at Red Bull which have prominently involved Christian Herer early this season Ho's response to Wolf's insinuations shows that he took these comments very personally possibly seeing them as the final straw in their ongoing rivalry concerning ven's situation in response to Wolf's comments Christian Herer chose his words carefully reflecting the sensitivity of the situation he stated I'm going to think carefully about what I say here followed by have you spoken to Max about this if you speak to Max and it's not about pieces of paper at the end of the day we know that he has a contract to the end of 2028 it's about how he feels in the team and the relationship he has in the team and the way he's performing Christian hoer responding to Toto Wolf's remarks suggested that wolf might be looking at the wrong issues within his team instead of focusing on trying to lure drivers like veren who are clearly committed else where herner hinted that wolf should pay more attention to deeper problems within Mercedes he said I don't think Toto's problems are his drivers I think he's probably got other elements that he needs to focus on rather than on drivers that are unavailable this statement implies that Mercedes has internal issues that are more critical than their driver lineup Red Bull's success and Mercedes struggles herner didn't stop at general advice he also pointed out Red Bull's recent successes over Mercedes specifically mentioning we moved today ahead of the number of races that Mercedes have won in the modern era so the team is in form why on Earth would you want to leave this team this remark further showcases Red Bull's ascendancy in F1 contrasting it with Mercedes current challenges on the track Herer further critiqued Mercedes performance noting their difficulty in making effective changes to their cars and hinting that they lagged behind even their customer teams finally Herer shifted the convers ation towards the broader F1 driver Market subtly suggesting that Mercedes might soon face challenges of its own with retaining Talent he hinted at George Russell's contract situation saying have any of you heard George Russell is out of contract at the end of 25 maybe he might not be so Keen to stay in 26 you know the market moves around Christian Herer made it clear I can assure you that there is no ambiguity as to where Max for stappen will be next year although her aimed to stay out of drama his comments might have unintentionally highlighted some of Mercedes problems this past weekend during the sprint races Lewis Hamilton's performance was noticeable and sparked many reactions critics and staunch supporters of Hamilton might react strongly to this while some criticize him harshly his loyal fans often defend him quickly despite the mixed views it's important to note that Hamilton still shows strong racing capabilities currently Mercedes consistently finishes between third and fourth place which is quite disappointing for the team this suggests that the problem isn't with Hamilton or any other driver but rather with deeper issues within the team itself these challenges may stem from fundamental decisions about the team's Direction in the past few years Mercedes seems to have missed the mark on the technical development of their car which is a significant factor in their current performance a few years ago the person who used to lead the technical side of Mercedes decided to retire after seven successful years at the top many consider him one of the best technical directors ever second only to Adrien Nei and some even think he's the best however not long after he left his replacement Mike Elliot didn't manage to handle the job well because of this within just 6 months Elliot stepped back and the former director had to come out of his retirement to take charge again even though he really wanted to stay out of the spotlight Christian Herer has hinted that mercedes's problems AR just about who's driving their cars but more about issues with how the team is technically managed He suggests that Mercedes technical strategies are currently quite unclear and directionless and it looks like he might be right technical troubles at Mercedes Mercedes has been facing some big problems and their usual response has been to trust the computer's output but something isn't right either the data the computer or how they're reading the information is off because things aren't making sense BBC F1 journalist Andrew Benson pointed out on the checkered flag podcast that the main issue isn't about the team's management but more about understanding the technical aspects he said the issue isn't a management issue it's a technical understanding issue he's wolf not designing the car the issue is the car design the discussion then shifts to Mercedes technical department and whether any big changes will exist some people wonder if James Allison the technical director might be replaced but Benson finds that idea unlikely stating James Allison is incredibly highly regarded most people would regard him as the second best technical leader in Formula 1 behind Adrien newie I think most people would think they'd lose their marbles if they got rid of Allison this highlights how well respected Allison is in the Formula 1 Community seen only behind Adrien Nei in terms of capability while bringing back Allison might not have caused the current issues it's now largely on him to correct the course as both her and Benson have pointed out the problems at Mercedes aren't due to management or drivers but are deeply technical the real test will be how Allison and his team address these challenges a significant opportunity is approaching for Mercedes to show improvements they've announced that they are bringing substantial upgrades to the next race in Miami this could be a turning point where we see if Mercedes can start to solve their technical puzzles and get back on track so what do you think of the the radical changes in Mercedes comment below and subscribe for
