almost the whole year now we have behind me here mercedes eqs this is the 580 4matic all-wheel drive version we're going to do 1000 km challenge how fast will it be we will find out it has 113 kilowatt hour battery i measure 107 kilowatt hour net capacity the available capacity with losses we have nuke and hakaplita r3 what is it r3 suv tires 265 40 21 with some uh i think it says these are supposed to be amg rims there's just amg there but these are not the biggest one i can show you the back is the same by the way you can see here there are supposedly also a 22 inch available but at least we are using the 21 inch but it comes also in 235 55 19 which is the one we should use for bet the best efficiency but we don't have it we have a 21 inch so uh the efficiency has been uh compromised we are charging now this is true oh but the car is beautiful it drives marvelous is oh it's a masterpiece i've been driving it now wait was that squeezy squeaking no and i have the hyper hyper screen here huh fun fact if you don't get this this is option the hyper screen if you get the standard screen it's smaller for the hyperscreen i heard it i'm not sure if it's true um you have to pay around 10 000 euros for it you can buy a daisy spring for that price but okay anyway we are about to oh charging complete charging complete okay we are done charging done d-o-n we're going to disturbing my night vision also the header display created this this gray square box thing even on the spot water was not lit up in the head of display but okay whatever stud is so far 287 wattage plumber the car is just super nice and quiet man you know these roads here in swedish highways they are kind of rough noisy and rough and noisy asphalt and it's so quiet and comfy and the stereo is top-notch [Music] this is it we are passing by speculate speculate speculative speculate and the car estimates we will have six percent left and we have 31 battery left you know most other cars i test nowadays they have to bail out that speculate some other cars they might even have to bail up before speculating but not two days on uh-uh we still have 30 battery left like a boss [Music] we are now at volleyball this is the first charting stop after 362 o'clock wait i think it was 362 uh three okay over 360 kilometers straight to our back this is the first car i've tried in the swedish route that can do it okay i know model s can do it but at least this car can do it uh but i have to say that that we have tailwind okay that's south yeah so we had tailwind but wet road winter yeah so we're here now oh look at this car but let me show you guys so we've been driving semi slow i mean i'm not saying but good enough speed but we are not seeing 200 kilowatt yet but 150 i'll take it i'll take it yeah okay but i have to hurry because this car charges like a boss so um we have to go inside get some drinks now and then finally i can drink something because i was starving on drinking because i knew if i had to pee then no no no no so yeah okay oh look at oh look at the profile of this car is this it is so slick i like it and look in the back yeah huh do you like it but man i am hungry and i brought thai food this time this is from orchid thai in oslo that's thai restaurant wife and i we always go to that one a favorite place and we have flied lice proper food this time mmm wow i should i know it's roughly here it's fairly smooth here ah yeah i know yeah yep there you go let's go let go let me see is the car estimating how many percent i will arrive it nope not yet i estimated i need around 50 and now we're cooking well except for the steady shot it's too high to receive 200 oh okay start dropping ah she okay listen listen i have some fake engine sound on okay let's go here [Music] what about this one oh wait i have to go in how to use sport mode now it's probably louder now vivid flux sounds like a ufo wow this car is so quiet i'm doing i'm doing barely legal speeds here and it's just so quiet was it like i actually alien tech coming through oh it's a freaking ufo we are now on the concrete area around falcon bike and you guys should listen to this and then go to for example the the 1000 kilometer challenge with pole star the pole star was super noisy this it's almost unreal how quiet the eqs is it's supposed to be super noisy here you're supposed to hear some mad rumbling but it's so silent i just wonder if this stretch here if the eqs is even more silent than than es8 i think it is the es8 was very quiet but my gut feelings is that the eqs beats everything on the electric market list this this is impressive stuff it's 120 zone there i'm going at um i'm going 120 plus vit [Music] so [Music] we are now at the end point this is so weird we had one charging stop before we came here and the average speed is quite high now so we just have to try to maintain this all the way back to oslo so over here we have plenty of charges um yeah let's go inside y'all want to see oh yeah by the way do you guys know where we fill the washer fluid okay we can't open it there here's where you fill in the washer fluid but let's see this time now we're cooking it's slowly ramping up now oh yeah so the plan now is that i'm going for i'm going to skip a vial bike and i'm going for speculate speculation let's see turn them down here 255 kilometers to speculate this is this one there so that i found it i found it there there you're going for that one let's go wait let's go yeah okay good uh let's go back to uh wait what happened to the charger screen now there oh now we're cooking we've been charging for um not even half an hour and we're almost good to go this has been super fast we have hail over here right now so look at this nice and char nice and flat charting curve even at 75 we're taking 120 kilowatts so i'm going for 80 just to be sure 75 would probably be enough but just better safe than sorry and especially if we are charging this fast then no big deal we are on the move again kind of the weather but interesting if you look here see that the car estimates that we will have 19 percent at specular 248 kilometers away from this point so i guess we'll see then uh i'm guessing we might arrive at somewhere between five and ten percent so all right uh the bad weather we're here will not last too long around five ten more minutes i think and then we will get some nicer not nicer weather but at least dry roads [Music] we are now around kungal and um yeah the the the trip past gothenburg went smooth and also when i look here the car estimated okay i will arrive at 19 he's been saying that for a while i was thinking okay okay i overshot it by far all right all right um so we are now getting close to uh speculate and then suddenly i get this low battery warning what low battery warning at what percent 20 and then the check here we have 13 percent like huh wait wait wait what we have 13 how come the car shows me that i will arrive with 19 what the what the heck is wrong uh okay i guess we might arrive at 10 or maybe less than 10 then no big deal i did my math and we will get there this is the third and the last charting stuff for this trip this is crazy well actually i could also do this with other cars but i tend to go and charge more often but this time i try to do this strategy i'm not sure if the best choice because i can show you now what the problem is we skipped one charger uh it was actually pretty fast to go to 80 but you see what's happening here the car is colgate again we are at 2 degrees celsius here it's uh it's a bit cold and the battery did not pre-heat before fast charging hopefully the speed will pick up but what i could have done to avoid this was to stop at viral bike 107 kilometers away i should have stopped at wild back and i would probably get 200 kilowatt and then i would quickly charge only to 40 and then come here and i would get 200 kilowatt here but who would have known that right actually i had an idea that that could be the case but i wasn't sure but at least now we know but how much time did we lose now i would say maybe two to five minutes only i was just eating my the rest of the food and then i see this even after 10 minutes 11 minutes this car simply cannot recover from um hold it if the battery in an e-tron or even a pole star 2 or what other cars yeah the korean cars if they are a little bit cold they will usually recover within 5-10 minutes and then you get more or less full speed but here no we should have gotten 190 200 kilowatt by now so um yeah i guess lesson learned what this car is so stingy on the heat i i fire up the car and after just five minutes i think i i don't know it feels like five minutes i have to start it again for the heat of the startup well okay one thing you can do is if you stop it then you can then press this button here to activate the climate control yeah maybe that's what i should do instead because i'm just used to pressing the start button like i do in many other cars but okay anyway um the speed picked up a little bit 265 so i calculated that we might lose i don't know two to four minutes by this colgate but first i thought about going to hammer it to strumston but we might also colgate's thermostat so we will just stay here until 80 and then we go uh that's the plan we go back to oslo let me see let's go let's go uh will it calculate how many percent not optimize route the there now he wants me to charge somewhere on the way there no no no okay well okay we wait a little bit more and then we go straight home oh i like this weather layer here look at this oslo clear sky minus eight degrees here minus wow why don't we have this weather layer in other cars like tesla or pole star at least the cars with big screens this is brilliant just just yeah i like it you see over here when it's really dark outside then i feel like okay i'm just showing you that if you have the lead strips on like this it looks cool until you start noticing that it disturbs your night vision so you're trying to have it dark here so you can see but then this one so but fortunately in the mercedes eqs you can customize how you want things you can either link them so they go up the same level but i actually individually adjust them like this so that um you see i have some lights here for the cup holder and the phone charging i have lights under there so i can see stuff there i have lights here in the door pockets but what i'm going to do and what i have been using is i turn off this one the light strip and then it's not disturbing anymore [Music] we are now near the norwegian border and actually on the 26th which is now during the night they applied new rules about entering norway they're making it stricter again so we have to deduct a little bit of time here let me see it's three minutes past five as we enter this section um okay there was no border control we just have to drive right through it so i don't deduct any time there we have four minute deduction from sweden barcelona so uh i calculated that we have point zero uh wait wait no sorry point seven percent error so that means we have to count to 993 kilometers we have to drive 90 more kilometers and then right now 507 we are at the nine hour and three minute mark yeah so now we just have to hammer it and see how it goes at night should be no left land hoggers now okay let's do the countdown nine nine two two nine nine two three nine nine two five okay nine nine two six 9927 1928 9929 993 time 554 that means total time is 9 hours and 50 minutes oh okay and let me check here check something consumption numbers not this one this one 297 all right right we are back in oslo as usual so you guys might be wondering why did it take 9 hours and 50 minutes actually based on the range test and the charting test i did yesterday my spreadsheet already pointed towards 9 hours and 52 minutes so this was again spot on with my calculation i didn't want to mention the time this morning i mean in the beginning of a video because i didn't want to spoil the the the fun right but why was it so slow well um blame the tires always blame tires no but it was a combination of tires a little bit of wet roads you guys saw the weather some rain whatever salty roads some wind and also i think they all will drive worsening sucks a little bit and of course low temperature so i've done some rough calculation that in summer i should be able to do around 9 20 to 9 25 with this car well i'm not sure about this car maybe the rear drive already i'm not sure about that one but roughly there so yeah because you see that the other cars that was faster they were done in summer so of course you get better results then and then also i don't know if you guys know this but the kia seed that's a plug-in hybrid fossil even the fossil needed nine hours i needed to stop eventually to just grab well grab grab fuel but also grab a little bit of food but i think i was eating while driving even so some people think that oh the eqs can do it in eight hours no it's it's not possible guys to do it in eight hours even the lucid wouldn't be able to do eight hours because the fossil on top is the top reference of how fast you can possibly do it so to put it this way just to go from nine hours to nine and a half and then towards 9 20 it becomes expense exponentially harder and harder to go towards that time yeah so anyway um i think that's going to be it for now i hope you guys enjoyed this video Pretty good for the low temperature, should be able to set a new record in summer with smaller wheels.

Bottom line: 9 hours 50 minutes in this particular test.

Battery was not able to heat itself during the charging, so max charge was around 150 kw.
Maybe they can solve the problem with an update.
Average power consumption 297 Wh/km , very high, it's a large car so maybe it needs a lot of energy to warm up the cabin.

Apparently the best long range EV currently on the market: around 780km range, level 3 autonomous driving, best infotainment system (MBUX Hyperscreen), quietest EV and most luxurious EV.
