Oh thank you it's good to be here this morning and we have enjoyed our time in South Africa the last few days just arrived on Thursday morning first time to this great country and it's been a pleasure to meet so many of you already during this time before we begin our message which really is about total transformation and flourishing I'd also like to mention a little bit about what is happening at the Institute where we run severe depression and anxiety recovery programs but we also do a lot more at Weimar Institute in fact our General Conference president Ted Wilson has they spent more time healing than he did preaching and he actually makes it very clear that he's not going to come back to this world if his people bypass the healing ministry of Christ and thus every member should actually feel like they are not only a regular Evangelist that can explain the Bible but also a health evangelist to others that they come in contact with Weimar Institute's motto is to heal a hurting world and we train and model comprehensive health evangelism you might have heard of New START which is an acronym New START is going global and as a result of what is being trained there at Weimar where we're setting up new start centers around the world we have course degrees in health science many students go to medical school or other advanced professional schools we also have a degree in religion and with that degree in religion the pastor also learns a lot about health and health evangelism they have to take a lot of health courses in fact many of our pastors take a bi vocational training we're encouraging them to get their registered nurse training also that's starting at Weimar at the same time that they become a pastor so that they can actually be able to reach a much broader clientele as a result there's medical missionary training and health evangelism and leadership training there as well Ellen White predicted we shall see the medical missionary work broadening and deepening at every point of its progress because of the inflowing of hundreds and thousands of streams until the whole earth is covered as the waters cover the sea that's the whole earth in regards to medical missionary work and I think today when we talk about our message of total transformation you will see why the gospel works so well with health evangelism before we begin our message today on total transformation I would invite you to bow your heads and ask for the outpouring of our spirit as I kneel Father in heaven we thank you that you desire us to have complete health of body mind you would have died for had it been just them and so each one here is very important to you and so Lord we now ask that this message take heart in your people in Jesus name Amen when we run depression and anxiety programs at Weimar or even diabetes programs or other types of health programs we've noticed that some people are totally transformed from that point forward but there are other people even though they do well in the program they actually begin to slip back and start to go back to their old way of life again and then they run into more problems with disease and more problems with mental illness and other such things and what I've noticed is whether total transformation occurs or not is actually boiled down to two emotional attributes that are absolutely necessary for total transformation this is physical transformation mental transformation emotional transformation social transformation as well as spiritual transformation all five of those areas of your life can also be totally transformed if you Center in on these two emotional attributes the first attribute I will speak about from the scientific literature the scientific literature has recently studied a lot about self-control and dr. Baum Meister who is the most cited researcher now in the world make some statements about this the Bible also makes some statements about this Romans 7:18 and on where tells us that you can desire to do something recognize it's even beneficial for you but then you don't do it and then other things in your life you know are bad for you but then you find yourself actually doing them at the end of that discourse Paul says o wretched and that I am that term is mentioned only one other time in Scripture and that is the message to the Laodicean Church God's last-day people he says that we are wretched miserable poor blind and naked why are we rich it and by the way being in a wretched condition does not mean that you're in a saving relationship with the Lord you might think you are that's why you think you're clothed and you don't realize you're naked but you're naked because you do not have the righteousness of Christ in your life and this is why it was such a serious issue with Paul but dr. balm Meister says the human capacity to exhibit self-control is one of the most if not the most powerful and beneficial adaptations of the human mind the human capacity to exhibit self-control now according to a recent review by BA Meister and colleague self-control failure is central to nearly all the personal and social problems that currently Plec citizens of the modern developed world it boils down to that particular issue in South Africa lack of self-control is the primary contributor to the number one cause of death here AIDS now back in the 1980s when AIDS was not only discovered but we found out how it was spread from one person to another people were so thrilled to know how this disease spread because they knew that once this education went out to the public we would be able to easily prevent the spread of the AIDS virus all we needed was education on how to prevent the spread and then people would put it into action but yet in South Africa over 200,000 deaths just last year due to this disease now yes some of those deaths occurred in people who were innocent but you know the problem with lack of self control is it would be bad enough if it just affected the individual who had lack of self control but whenever you exhibit lack of self control you not only adversely affect yourself but you adversely affect innocent individuals as well another problem in South Africa sexually transmitted diseases that are not necessarily AIDS one of the leading causes of death in women in South Africa is cervical cancer cancer of the cervix and women is 100% of the time caused by a sexually transmitted disease most of the time papilloma virus other times chlamydia lack of self-control the major contributor the number two cause of death in South Africa is actually stroke stroke occurs primarily due to several modifiable lifestyle related diseases high cholesterol high blood pressure do we know how to bring cholesterol down through lifestyle we do so do we know how to bring blood pressure down through lifestyle at least 80% of the time high blood pressure can can be controlled by a change in diet and lifestyle alone so why is it the number two cause of death it's not necessarily due to lack of education on how to bring those things down it's more due to applying that information in your life and so lack of self control surfaces again diabetes the third leading cause of death in South Africa type-2 diabetes yes there's a genetic predisposition to it but genetics loads the gun and lifestyle pulls the trigger you can have all of the bad genes associated with diabetes and never develop it if you are on a good nutritional and a good exercise program the problem again that surfaces lack of self-control alcoholism is in the top five causes of death in South Africa we know it's a major problem and even the person who is consuming it knows it's a major problem and so why does he continue to do it lack of self-control murder I was surprised when I was preparing to come to South Africa to recognize that murder is in the top six causes of death in this country it is a major issue lack of self-control is the primary contributor to this and then in this great city of Johannesburg that I flew into Thursday I found out it's the number one city in the world where rape is committed is there a problem with self-control in South Africa not only in South Africa let me tell you lack of self-control is a worldwide mental health issue but it isn't certainly on display in South Africa I looked at the causes of disability in South Africa the number one cause of a person being disabled is AIDS in South Africa the second cause very close second is depression more people miss work due to major depression than any other single disease outside of the AIDS epidemic depression a lot of people are unaware they need to be educated about this but depression is often a lifestyle related disease it's due to nutritional issues it's due to lack of exercise it's due to lack of light therapy it's due to distorted thoughts and have Julie thinking distorted thoughts and those are all things that can be modified I'll just tell you if you have the opportunity to stay here and come Monday we will be revealing a program that we have now been conducting for ten years in America where we take people with severe depression and anxiety and we attack it from every conceivable angle and within 10 days they are totally transformed ten days they leave no depression no anxiety and their emotional intelligence at the top 25 percentile of the country so they are propelled for future success 90% of them are able to live depression free and anxiety free without medications and without relapse as a result lack of self-control is sent central here heart disease still in the top 10 causes of death in South Africa I remember in 1991 going to a conference called the first international conference on the elimination of coronary artery disease I was thrilled to be there because there were great speakers Caldwell Esselstyn from the Cleveland Clinic dr. Dean Ornish from the University of California San Francisco telling us how we could eliminate this disease from the planet and I thought how different things would be 20 years from now when heart disease was almost unheard of I was thinking I would have to teach a resident and have to historically tell them what heart disease look like because we wouldn't know what it looked like anymore because people would implement this information but I can tell you what is lacking and this is why health let me just break it down to you simply health is not going to be totally transformed in this world the way it should be until we find the secret to lack of self control and it turns out as you will find out from this message nobody understands that secret as well as seventh-day adventists living the gospel message and thus there is a need for seventh-day adventists to take hold of this health message and then the world can be transformed the way Ellen White saw where streams are going throughout the world changing lives in a very positive way unwanted pregnancy lack of self-control adultery and divorce often due to lack of self-control unemployment as an employer I've employed hundreds of individuals over the last 25 years some of those employees have been very good employees when they show up to work but I've had to let them go because I they were not reliable as far as when they would show up or if they would show up and lack of self-control turned out to be the issue their financial failure often due to lack of self-control relationship problems often due to lack of self-control and then other addictions this is a rising addiction called a technology addiction how do you know whether you have a technology addiction or not you might be in an engaging interesting environment but yet you're texting someone far less interesting maybe who's even across the room a sign of a technology addiction studies show it's actually as serious as alcoholism as far as your future employment and success and relationship issues that can come about as a result of that now this is not a comprehensive list that's up on the on the screen that's just the tip of the iceberg there are many other issues that you could relate to lack of self control now the the secret to this is what is called temperance now this is a world word that's starting to resurface this word used to be very popular in 1900 and it's starting to become very popular again due to the study of it in psychology temperance is the moderation and things that are healthy and abstinence in things that are unhealthy strict temperance however requires comprehensive self-control now let me just tell you something every one of you every human being has selective self-control in certain areas you might have heard of the governor of the state of California most people in the modern world have heard about him because he was a Hollywood actor his name was Arnold Schwarzenegger does it take meticulous selective self-control to build muscles the way Arnold Schwarzenegger built them it actually does it takes a routine it requires meticulous self-control but yet in an area that was far more important than building muscles when his maid was cleaning the house he lacked self-control and he ended up having sexual relations with this maid and it was discovered years later when the maid had children to earn old Schwarzenegger and he lost his wife that he loved over lack of comprehensive self-control and so what we're what we're needing is not just selective self-control people can muster up selective self-control in certain areas but there's only one way that you can have comprehensive self-control now in this area of temperance these are secular psychologists now studying this out notice their quote in our endeavour to measure this class of strings we have found that among people in the mainstream developed world strengths of temperance are infrequently endorsed and seldom praised regardless the strengths of temperance are very important and they have a rich array of positive consequences for the psychological good life now the book character strengths and virtues written by two well respected psychologists in the United States Christopher Peterson is from University of Michigan Martin Seligman is from University of Pennsylvania they've mentioned theirs for areas that come under temperance forgiveness and mercy if you're a temperate individual you are actually more forgiving and more merciful to others around you humility and modesty they make the point that if you are immodest you are by definition intemperate now it would take a little logic to explain that but it is indeed true an immodest individual will be an intemperate individual prudence is also under temperance and then the area that we're talking about today self-control sometimes called self regulation and the cycle a lot of psychological literature now the most comprehensive study there have been many comprehensive studies done on the last 10 years in self-control in order to study it you first you have to measure it and so there is a rather comprehensive self-control test that you can take now I'm not going to have you take the entire test here today but I want you to see some questions from the test so you can get an idea of what is being measured here notice number one you would have to rate this from one to five you are taking the test from not at all to a little bit to a medium amount to much and then very much would be number five and I want you to help me on this self-control test to see whether if you answered the question very much if that would mean you have low self-control or high self-control so let's see if we can get this right so I want to hear from you either low or high in response to these questions I am good at resisting temptation what would that be low self-control or high self-control that's high self-control I have a hard time breaking bad habits that's low self-control alright let's see if you can do better on the next one I do certain things that are bad for me if they are fun low self-control alright let's see if you can wake up a little bit maybe you guys need to stand up a little bit I was this I've given this in several different countries but I can see the issue with self-control in South Africa you're not even sure on the test whether it's low or high or not so let's stand up here for a little bit let's see if we can get the blood flowing you know one of the best ways of preventing osteoporosis is actually jumping and so I'm not going to have you I know it may be kind of tough particularly for the women in high heels to jump but at least you can do it with your toes so let's come up just five times and let's just see if we can do it five times get the blood flowing this way all right let's bring the hands up this way - all right very good and then if you can turn to the side maybe so you don't bother your neighbor and let's just do a couple of deep knee bends and see if we can get the leg the blood flowing okay very good you can sit down now and don't disappoint me further here we have a few more questions to go I have trouble saying no is that low or high low self-control okay that's good getting up in the morning is hard for me low self-control good I blurt out whatever is on my mind low self-control I spent too much money low self-control I keep everything neat high self-control I get carried away by my feelings low self-control I do many things on the spur of the moment low self-control I don't keep secrets very well low self-control I often interrupt people low self-control I am always on time high self-control okay I'm not easily discouraged high self-control I eat healthy foods high self-control pleasure and fun sometime keep me from getting work done low self-control I have trouble concentrating low self-control sometimes I can't stop myself from doing something even if I know it is wrong low self-control I am able to work effectively towards long term goals high self-control now that's not the entire test that's just a snippet of it but it gives you an idea of the measurement of self-control 32 personality traits were measured in a large study of academic performance by Woolf and Johnson that's a lot of personality traits only one personality trait predicted the grade point average anyone want to guess what it is self-control in addition the higher the self-control the better the task performance the lower the self-control score is the higher the rate of dysfunctional impulsive behaviors the higher the self-control test scores the lower the rates of eating and drinking problems higher self-control has been shown to be linked to better personality adjustment higher sense of self-worth better at controlling your anger fewer symptoms of somatization obsessive compulsive patterns depression anxiety hostile anger phobic anxiety paranoid ideation and psychotic tendencies in addition people with high self-control accept themselves as valuable worthy individuals and are relatively able to sustain this favorable view of self across time and circumstances this occurred without registering inflated or narcissistic views of self something that we call pride that can be a problem that we spoke about last night in the 10th people with high self-control have been found to be more conscientious they're more emotionally stable they make better relationship partners they get along better with other people they're actually more accommodating of others not less accommodating they report more satisfying relationships they have better adjustment in their relationships and that's not all people with high self-control have better family cohesiveness they have less interpersonal conflict they have better perspective and better empathy they do not wallow in their own personal reactions to other people's problems they have more secure interpersonal attachments they manage money well they spend less and they save more now as mentioned in the introduction I have four sons as a result of studying this out I've told my four sons before they seriously date any girl they have to administer them the self-control test and by the way if you have daughters you might want to get a hold of that self-control test too before she hooks up with a man because how good that relationship is going to be has a lot to do with the self control of their future partner now interesting this is something else that was studied these are secular studies now I'm going through and this is a secular article on self-control but it says this in the course of daily life in spite of their best efforts at self-control people inevitably sin and transgress at least on rare occasion I thought it was interesting they use the term sinned and transgressed now would we be able to agree with that statement as Christians yes I think we could agree that that certainly can occur people with high self control score relatively low in shame and high in shame free guilt when this happens what does that mean individuals with high self-control are inclined to take responsibility for their transgressions rather than external izing blame or minimizing the importance of the transgression in addition in short having done wrong high self-control people are inclined to focus on the effects of their behavior and in so doing are inclined to make amends what does that mean that means that when they do fall they're actually going to use that fall as a beacon of warning take responsibility for it and be far less likely to fall again in contrast low self-control individuals are more apt to experience painful feelings of shame an emotion that often provokes defensiveness and denial rather than repair and redemption you can begin to understand why this is so important now the title or the theme of our camp meeting this year that your officers have chosen is lead and leaders have also been looked at in regards to self-control leaders who score high in self-control are rated by their subordinates as more trustworthy they're more fair they're more consistent with other leaders and they experience less anger and better management of their anger when they do get angry did you know children can also develop this children have been looked at even at the age of six and children who have better self-control have fewer behavior problems fewer anger conflicts better social functioning overall they're more popular with other children not less popular and they score higher on SAT scores 10 years later SAT scores are an admission score to get into the big Ivy League elite universities in America and you take that test at age 16 and we can accurately predict how well you're going to do on that test 10 years earlier by how much self-control you have at age 6 now you might ask any strength any character strength might have a downside if you have too much of it for instance even a good drug that works very well you can get too much of that drug and then it's going to cause problems and so the psychologist looked at this what are the problems are there any drawbacks or negatives of self-control and here's what they conclude there are no scientific studies anywhere demonstrating any undesirable consequences of high self-control in fact can we test it for curvy linearity that's where if it works very well up to a certain point and then it starts to have adverse effects to see if excessive self-control or over control might produce negative consequences but no negative patterns were found in fact they say although in our society there may exist a stereotype of an over controlled person one who is overly restrained cautious uptight and not spontaneous we see no evidence that self-control is to be blamed so in other words if you have any of those problems that are listed on the screen it's not due to too much self-control it's due to other problems then this is a sad statement made by the psychologists who have studied this out relatively little is known about how self-control is acquired in strengthened so they tell us all the great things about it but they say we really don't know how to take someone from low self-control and turn them into a person with high self-control in fact they say this this topic must be regarded as a high priority for further research especially in view of the many benefits that self-control confers they do say this most acts of self-control involve overcoming some incipient response to the immediate situation in order to pursue some greater long-term benefit hence the ability to transcend the immediate situation is crucial people who live only in the present moment are unlikely to exhibit good self-control whereas future mindedness will facilitate self-regulation now there's a term that's used repeatedly in Scripture that is almost a synonym for future mindedness what is that term what has this directed towards the future I think I heard it over there the term is actually hope and in order to have hope a hope that is practical and functional you have to have good frontal lobe function this is why earlier in the week we've been talking about how to enhance the frontal lobe of the brain but in the denominational term seventh-day adventists is a term that actually means the Blessed hope what is that Adventist so in reality seventh-day Adventists if they're truly practicing the tenets of their beliefs should have the highest self-control according to the research that is being done here proverbs talks about self-control it says he that a slow to anger is better than the mighty and he that rule with his spirit then he that taketh the city Ellen White commenting on that verse says he has conquered self the strongest foe man has to me the highest evidence of nobility in a Christian is self-control he who can stand unmoved amid a storm of abuse is one of God's heroes he who has learned to rule his Spirit will rise above the slights the rebuffs the annoyances to which we are daily exposed and these will cease to cast a gloom over his spirit can you see how crucial this emotional attribute is it is God's purpose that the kingly power of sanctified reason controlled by divine grace shall bear sway in the lives of human beings he who rules his spirit is in possession of this power the man or woman who preserves the balance of the mind when tempted to indulge passion stands higher in the sight of God and heavenly angels in the most renowned general that ever led an army to battle into victory well I'm going to tell you here today how you can have comprehensive self control and how you can develop it romans 7 told us the problems of lack of self control and romans 8 actually gives us an idea on how to form it but i'd like you to read with this with me from the pen of ellen white what young men and women need is christian heroism to rule the spirit means to keep self under discipline now notice this next statement god's abounding love and presence in the heart will give the power of self-control and will mold and fashion the mind in character so where does self-control come from it actually comes from outside of us so in a way the term that is used self-control has been Mis named because the only way to have comprehensive self-control is to actually take God's abounding love and presence in the heart notice she goes on the grace of Christ in the life will direct the aims and purposes and capabilities into channels that will give moral and spiritual power power which the youth will not have to leave in this world but which they can carry with them into the future life and retain through the eternal ages so when we open our heart to God's abounding love and presence in the heart we will not only have comprehensive self-control here but we will carry that with us through the eternal ages now Christ himself said by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have what one to another love one to another if we would be true lights in the world we must manifest the loving compassionate spirit of Christ to love as Christ loved means that we must practice what self-control it means that we must show unselfishness at all times and in all places so the key to self-control is another important emotional attribute this introduces the second I told you there were two emotional attributes needed for total transformation the key to self-control is actually self-sacrifice and it is a self-sacrificing compassionate love it is actually called in the Bible agape love and so it is love that is needed to change the world not a family love not a romantic love not an erotic love as important as those loves are at the proper time and place but a self-sacrificing compassionate love that does not come from within side where does it come from that type of love only comes from God and is the divine love called agape love notice it means that we must scatter around us kind words and pleasant looks these costs that giver nothing but they leave behind a precious fragrance their influence for good cannot be estimated not only to the receiver but to the giver they are a blessing for they react upon him genuine love is a precious attribute of wear of heavenly origin genuine love is a precious attribute of heavenly origin and don't miss the rest of this which increases in fragrance in proportion as it is dispensed to others so if we want more of this love how do we get it we actually dispense more of it to others and then we can receive even more of this divine love and as we dispense even more than war is received and a person with low self-control is transformed into a person with high self-control and this individual doesn't just have selective self-control they have comprehensive self-control this is why the scientists of bomb Meister and these other secular scientists they can tell us about all the benefits of self-control but it's also tells us why they don't know how to get it because this is only received through the Gospel message direct from heavenly sources the little attentions the small acts of love and self-sacrifice that flow out from the life as quietly as the fragrance from a flower these constitute no small share of the blessings and happiness of life so individuals with self-sacrificing love it sounds like that they're actually going to be less happy because they're sacrificing themselves for the good of others but in reality they become very happy individuals and they actually are dispensing joy and happiness around them before we close this important message today I'd like to point out two examples in self-control these are actually contrasts in self-control and it actually comes from a biblical source can you think of two contrasts and self-control from the Bible well I've heard a lot of good examples just from here in the front and those are good examples but this is even a greater contrast Paul before Nero house striking the contrast in power and greatness Nero stood unrivaled without money without friends without counsel Paul had been brought forth from a dungeon to be tried for his life the countenance of the monarch bearing the shameful record of the passions that raged within sometimes you can tell just by looking at a person and their facial expressions that there's nothing good going on inside and Nero had that the countenance of the monarch bearing the shameful record of the passions that rage within the countenance of the prisoner Paul telling the story of a heart at peace with God and man you could just look at his face and see that this man only had good within the results of opposite systems of Education stood that day contrasted notice opposite systems of what education stood that day contrasting this is why at a college like Weimar Institute we actually administer self-control tests before they come to the college and after they leave the college if self-control does not go up it's not a good school it if we're not dispensing more and having the availability of the divine grace in the heart going up there's a problem there in that school and the results of opposite systems of education stood that day contrasted a life of unbounded Self Indulgence who was that there was Nero and a life of entire self-sacrifice who was that Paul notice here were the representatives of two theories of life all absorbing selfishness which counts nothing too valuable to be sacrificed for momentary gratification Wow that's where selfishness leads nothing too valuable to be sacrificed for momentary gratification and I must admit we've had many individuals come to our program in America who have lost their fortune due to the attempts at momentary gratification high-dollar prostitutes one right after another thousands of dollars and you know you might not know this in South Africa but many of the Hollywood heroes that are thought of as beauty queens are for sale in the black market for a price and it's a very high price but they can actually be bought by businessmen who are millionaires and billionaire but it doesn't lead to happiness it leads to momentary gratification and the brain chemistry goes down further and then there's loss of finances and eventually they end up at our program totally destitute and hopeless in their feelings so this was Nero all of who was saved and as we know not everyone that is saved will have even known or kept the Bible Sabbath not everyone who is saved will know about the advantages of a plant-based diet not everyone who is saved knows the things that can enhance your life the way you do but yet whether it's people in this auditorium or people who are not part of our church through the the ages past as well as current ages these two lessons will be learned in every one that makes it eternally what are those two lessons self-sacrifice and self-control now I work in a hospital setting as well I do internal medicine work I do critical care work one of my specialties that wasn't mentioned is the field of gastroenterology and so I'm often asked to consult on end-stage liver disease cirrhosis of the liver by the way that's another problem in South Africa as well cirrhosis of the liver often due to alcoholism and I noticed the nurses and other doctors that are taking care of this patient the despicable things that they will say about this patient because we've had them in just six weeks ago with a patek encephalopathy in a coma due to their liver disease and due to their continued drinking and they will say this guy knows that alcohol is killing them and you tell him to quit and he's gonna be back again and yes we will tell him and try to give him resources to quit I must say that more people have quit than those nurses and doctors thought would when they are when they have the gospel open to them and they have the source of power presented to them but there are others that reject that source of power and they're often talked about in the most despicable terms but no to this this statement from the pen of Ellen White the strongest bulwark of Vice in our world is not the iniquitous life of the abandoned center or the degraded outcasts in South Africa this might be the individual who's been convicted of three different rapes and is dying of AIDS in a prison and his thought of is one of the most despicable residents of this country but she says the strongest bulwark of vice in our world is not the iniquitous life of the abandoned center or the degraded outcasts well then who is it it is that life which otherwise appears virtuous honorable and Noble but in which one sin is fostered one vice indulged why is that the worst this person might go to their grave and might have great things said about them at their funeral and they might be thought of as a good person but the Lord knows that if they would have exhibited comprehensive self-control and given up that vice and open their heart to the love of God they would have not just been a good person they would have become a great person they would have had an influence that the Apostle Paul had in his life and you know the Apostle Paul at that time when Nero and Paul met Paul was sentenced to death but he was sentenced to a private execution Nero always did public executions to make it an example so people would not follow in those people's footsteps why was Paul's a private execution the reason why he was a private execution is Nero recognized he had such a profound positive influence on others that if it was a public execution there would have been many other people that would open their hearts and minds to the love of Christ and would have become converted Christians at his death that's the influence that a great person has the Lord does not want you to settle for just being an ordinary good Seventh day Adventist he wants you to be totally transformed and to give up every vice in your life as the song goes putting all on the altar of sacrifice late it seems like a sacrifice but I can tell you on the front end although it seems like a sacrifice it's no sacrifice at all it is the entrance to a life that has that not only is totally transformed but has transformative power in its entire sphere of influence so I would like you today to make a choice I cannot make this choice for you your pastor can't make this choice for you your husband your children your father and mother cannot make this choice for you it's yours to make choose comprehensive self control there is no downside whatsoever choose real self sacrifice give yourself over completely to the abounding love of God that will produce the presence in the heart that will transform you not just now but forever let's bow our heads father in heaven we thank you that you desire us to be totally transformed I know that in a group this size there are those that have been struggling with self-control issues in their life with anger issues with issues of hatred with issues of not following what they know to be best as far as what they're putting into their body and what they're doing with their body and today has been opened up a path of a different more beautiful way of life there are also those that are elders and leaders who no one knows it but them but there's one vice that they continue to go back to and struggle with and we just learned that this is the worst situation someone who appears honorable but underneath there is one vice continuing to be indulged if you are in either camp today and you desire to open your heart to the abounding love of God and presence in the heart I invite you to show the Lord your desire by standing at this time Lord you've seen the commitment and I pray that you will indeed fill every soul that has this desire to put all on the altar of sacrifice lay to experience your love and presence in the heart in Jesus name you
