what is going on everybody mr. Ladd over here I just want to say before we get into the video if you haven't done already destroy the like button which probably you have an X or about ten seconds into the video but go ahead and destroy that like button so everyone can get a hold of these videos and and so all of YouTube can see it not only that thank you to my subscribers thank you to all those who support the channel who provide input and thank you to all those who just view the videos I tremendously appreciate you all I love you all and I hope you enjoy the video all right everybody so I am excited to do this video today because we're talking about two products that have held some weight within the detailing community one that has held extreme weight on YouTube as well as even in the over-the-counter retail stores and another one which has been around for quite some time yet isn't as broad is isn't as mainstream as the other product the biggest factor is most likely due to pricing and probably marketing as well but I'm excited to talk about today guys and the first one we're gonna go over in the face off here is the Maguire's hybrid ceramic wax now this product as you guys know was the center of feud about six months ago it was the center of a lot of controversy and it happened to be one of the most research one of the most well known products in the retail as well as detailing community the Maguire's hybrid ceramic wax is an sio2 infused wax that is water activated simply once there is a base layer of application on the panel then you can go ahead and just spray on and rinse off and take it from there and use it as a maintenance product and so I'm excited to put this in the face off and then the next product is one that you saw me review just last week and then as the hydro cilix I realize it's hydro cilix recharged and this is a ceramic coating a spray-on ceramic coating has very easy application and it gives good results as far as water beating not much of a shader but definitely a beater but we'll kind of see the water up properties in this video guys I'm excited to do this face-off I'm excited even do a torture test finally so we've got the panel up it's been prepped it's ready to go you've seen the application method of both products but let's go ahead and let's get into that real quick so guys as I mentioned I'm really excited to do this video but really quick I want to show you the panel that's prepped what I went ahead I died I did a high pH wash I played it down I did not polish but the clay does it is a mild abrasive so it does remove some particles that are within the clear coat that may be fraying or shedding out or whatever verbage you want to use but then I followed up with the hydro cilix rewind which is an IPA wipe down or a wax and grease remover to remove any residue that might be on the panel from any degreasers and you what previous waxes or anything so let me go ahead and show you what we have as far as water testing before application so the panel is flat and some of you guys might be saying well the waters falling off well of course the waters gonna fall off it's a completely flat panel gravity is working against me the panel is not completely flat itself as far as level but as far as the paint there is nothing there's no surface tension on it and so water you know it weighs down and gravity is gonna kind of push it down and so this is what we're working with here the water it's the beading is nothing to brag about if this was in the open environment against chemicals and everything you would have a lot of staining and spotting and it would not work well for you once again so there you have it guys and I know a lot of people say well it should be completely flat and it shouldn't fall off at all well in an ideal or uh Nigel environment where the car has not been prepped there is it needs to be played and there's so much particles and there are so much discrepancies within the paint that are like hills and valleys what its gonna do is it's gonna hold on to the water and it's going to keep the water on the panel where this where it's perfectly flat and even smooth from the IPA wipe down this is now prepped for a protection for a wax or sealant of some sorts or even a ceramic coating and so gravity is gonna go ahead and have free rein to be able to pull water off the panel at gravities pace so I'm gonna go ahead and draw up the pan in real quick and let's get into it and before we move forward I just want to go ahead and give a quick shout out to the most unhealthy drink you could ever drink in your lifetime I'm not sponsored by rain nor am i sponsored by really any company but this is what I'm using today for a little bit of fuel it's got electrolytes it's got co-enzyme q10 for you health nuts out there for those of you who know anything about this stuff I want you to tell me facts of how quick this is going to kill me I'm trying to I'm trying to find what's gonna kill me the slowest I'm just messing around I never drink this stuff I just went ahead and picked one up today because I'm tired woke up a 5:00 a.m. this morning and it's just been a long day already so we've been going at that but I'm excited to get started guys let's go ahead and let's get into it so first off we're talking about the Maguire's hybrid ceramic wax the bottle reads its ceramic made easy as protection durability beyond conventional waxes and it's a simple spray-on or rinse off and dry no that is not the scenario or the situation until there's a base coat applied which we're gonna go ahead and do that so very simple I do not want to belabor any points I don't want to draw anything off more than necessary here's simply what it is it's a wax sio2 infused wax protection that goes onto the panel and simply what you do is you have some water on the panel and make sure you have one applicator whether it's a towel or an applicator pad make sure it's wet put some sprays on it apply it get off go ahead and rinse it down and then ringing off again and then you have a base application and then you go ahead and just spray on and rinse off from there so we're gonna go ahead and do that we'll start with that real quick and yeah so for those of you who have seen me review this product in the past which you know like I said this product was the rave for quite some time I have done previous reviews of it and you know I am NOT a big fan of this product especially within a Mobile Detailing environment first off this stuff smells like blueberries which is phenomenal and I do smell a solvent behind it so that is kind of like oh I don't like that but the blueberry is kind of cover it up so maybe it does its purpose now it's very interesting how formulators formulate things and you know there must be it must be water activated meaning that h2o has some type of effect on the product that allows it to cure or to activate it's just so weird how chemical manufacturers and chemists have all this type of technology and it's like me as a basic whatever guy you know I don't know anything about that stuff and it's just so weird how chemistry has evolved so so much and yeah I'm just very intrigued by it now as always I've mentioned before and I'll say it again the application process is not easy it is not easy I see quite a bit of streaking I've see quite a bit of smearing but that's just kind of the nature of the beast he writes definitely those things were in humid and humid environments I would not want to go ahead and use this product but we're gonna go ahead and do another application a few more sprays and let's see how the water affecting even is just after that base application already it is much much more enhanced is it perfect you know no no buying it and by no means is it perfect but it does look enhance it's better and you know I'm even gonna spray it on the panel stuff goes it my speech is all over the place this stuff does go a long way so that is a good thing about this product so if I'm in a shaded environment what I want to do to kind of reduce streaking the water spotting is you know as I said I could smell a tad bit of solvents inside of it so I want to let the solvents kind of dissipate in dispel causing the products kind of flash a little bit now with it being water activated there's water in there it kind of goes against it it kind of does more harm than good and what I mean by that is I mean there's no water to dry off it takes longer to dry in the flash if you're doing that method but you know you kind of have to finagle around and see what works best for you if I'm in a shaded environment then I can let it sit for just maybe 10 15 seconds and kind of get the job done Oh hydrophilic spell and so you know it's very smooth under the under the towel it feels good right now I can even still smell the blueberries all it's probably in the towel itself and let's check out the water so that looks pretty good you have some decent water beating here it looks like it needs to be activated a little bit more up there but let's go ahead and do since there's a base coat on it I'm gonna go ahead and do this now this is I know technically three applications but don't kill me guys so if you can see we've got some good beating it looks very very pleasant we have good water structure looks very good the water falls off quite well making this a fun product to use I'm gonna go ahead and dry off and prepare the next panel I'm gonna go ahead and put you guys on pause so I don't be laborer anything anything okay now that we have McGuire's hybrid ceramic wax applied to the left side of the panel I'm gonna go ahead and now apply um hydro cilix recharge all these products and names and verbs and all that stuff and Burbidge gets it gets confusing for after a little bit but you know we talked about this product before and I've been experimenting with it and I tell you what I'm starting to find some good uses that I'm gonna go ahead and do some reviews on soon but simply what I'm going to do is kind of get some good saturation on my towel I'm gonna go half a panel by half a panel allowing me to have good proper coverage good bonding time and saw all that stuff now I find the application method of hydro cilix recharge to be far easier than monk McGuire's hybrid ceramic wax it's easier to apply easier to remove it is slicker under the towel and that right there my friends is very easy I'm just gonna go ahead and speed this up and finish the application alright guys we're back here we've given it 24-hour care time I'm not a big fan of cure times but due to the fact that we're dealing with sio2 products a cure time in my opinion is actually necessary without being unfair so on the left as you know we have McGuire's hybrid ceramic wax on the right side we have have hydro cilix recharge and let's go ahead and let's see the water repellency after a day got some residue on the panel I guess this is from the dust throughout the day so you see the left side is beating tremendously the right side is beating tremendously the center is shading it's just kind of so that's what we're dealing with here and I'm excited to get this going so let's go ahead we're gonna take a few chemicals to the panel and we're gonna see how do these products react in a torture scenario against harsh chemicals so the first chemical we have up to bat is not lat 26 all-purpose clean although that is a tremendous chemical it's actually a degreaser I've been experimenting with that is safe for interiors as well it's made by Ardex it's called its new concept and what i did is i diluted it ten to one and i use it as my interior cleaner the cool thing about this products it has a nice new car scent to it and for a degreaser smell new car scent instead of like alkaline craziness that's pretty cool and it's actually fairly aggressive and it gets the job done so i'm gonna go ahead and spray and we'll go ahead and get started here area so that's it for a bit now as its reacting as its sitting there the mcguire side doesn't seem to be trying to push the product anywhere on the hydrophilic side there's a little bit of separation going on but not much I can tell it's wanting to separate it but it's not quite separating it so I wouldn't say that it is beating up although I can see it's trying to respond here let's take a dry towel we're gonna wipe this in and so what I would like to see in these tests are from these provinces I would like to see instead of me having to do it like a wet towel method to kind of remove any residue I would like to see the products by themself actually remove any residue or still be to the point 1 ounce repelling the residue so they've got that wiped off wiped in let's go ahead and let's do a quick little water Testament in a wipe now both products were definitely affected but were they affected like crazy no no pretty interesting what we're seeing here but let me go ahead and get up a what towel Center maybe rinse off any residue although I think that the products did a pretty decent job and removing residue on their own always found this sound of a what microfiber towel going against the panel of a hood or whatever it was one of the most awkward noises ever funny enough it actually got worse when I did that interesting it actually got worse after I went ahead and did that that is in my opinion in saying you think that water by itself would actually help but hydrophilic seems to be doing okay there's some water there's still water beating there although the beads are starting to look a little bit abstract over in this region let me III think you could see but let me take you in just in case we're getting some abstract beading although you can see there is beating up dead whatever but over here now this is interesting how even just one round of an all-purpose cleaner diluted ten to one or even you wants a degreaser really pretty much they're both the same thing though you know just dilute a ten-to-one actually defeated it that much now of course maybe we could you can say the argument well let's go ahead and let it sit for a whole week and I'm sorry if you're letting product sit for a whole week before being exposed to elements I mean guys we're dealing with over-the-counter products here in retail DIY products you know these these these are meant for daily drivers you know that's just how it is so next I have just a little bit I might have to refill this bottle but this is that same chemical that same degreaser that we did in the first round just now diluted four to one this stuff works great on wheels and tires I'll be doing a video review of it soon yeah I think I need to refill it although I'm getting some coverage there you go there you go I don't need a whole lot of product on here just enough to be a good coverage that's all I need that's all I need although the next time I think I'll go ahead make sure my bottles are full existed ethically all right I get the new microfiber its sat in there for a little bit now at this point of course none of the products are dispelling anything if it didn't really separate chemical or product in the first place it's not going to do it now you have this degreaser is all-purpose cleaner is actually pretty cool I like it like I said the thing I like about it is the fact that you know it has a nice new car scent to it I'll know if I'd call it a new car but that's what they call it so we just go with that but it has a nice scent to it and it allows me to be able to use you know have one product that suits both needs interior and exterior [Music] McGuire's is taking a beat-down I think it's pretty much done while hydro cilix although is not perfect I mean it's it's staying up there it's standing up and it's kind of standing its ground here go ahead and let's press it down maybe that'll affect it but surprisingly even the last wet towel kind of even hurt McGuire's more I'm very surprised [Music] so hydrophilics is being revamped a little bit and it's kind of coming back to life whereas dryers Meg's hybrid ceramic wax is just taking a pounding it's I mean we're at the point now where yeah there's probably still some eggs on it but how much is really on it that's the question here but let's go to the next product and the last one we're gonna do today and you've seen me talk about it before car candy chocolate thunder I'm sorry I really like this wheel cleaner it's an on acid wheel cleaner I really do like it I know it's kind of gimmicky I know that a lot of people are like it's just the name chocolate thunder just in itself kind of turns people off but I tell you what the product gets the job done you know me I love wheel cleaners that work as a spray-on take my pressure washer and rinse off and there's a lot of lil cleaners that claim to do that and they don't do that and then there's this one which claims to do it and it holds up very well I've done reviews on the past the smell is not my favorite but it definitely is a very effective very effective wheel cleaner how we looking over here it's sitting in there of course I don't see any product dispersion maybe a little bit over here I see it's trying to separate and over here and and spread throughout the hydrophilic side but for the most part it seems pretty standard pretty straightforward I'm not looking forward I was not looking forward to wiping into chocolate thunder my bare hands I should be wearing gloves Lord that's good for your microfiber laundry right I have to rinse it down until you what Roger cilix is pushing this stuff off it's not perfect but hey pretty decent job here I'm quite surprised let's do the wet towel deal gotta get off any remaining residue of course I could have a bucket of you know purple power or something just on hand a high pH so I couldn't do something like that but I think just water will be fine as far as removing any residue why use you know why waste soap I do that when the objective is just to you know kind of lift up the residue here and this seems to do a good job other YouTube channels do it it seems to work well for them why not for me right [Music] [Music] so I feel like the more I rinse it down the hydrocele excited I feel like the more the water beating is trying to come back which is pretty cool but I think it's pretty self-explanatory how this is panning out here after three rounds of harsh chemicals McGuire's is cheating at a extremely slow level to the point where I say it's safe to say it's done we're hydrophilics definitely took a beating but not as big of a beating as a lot of other products take I'm gonna go ahead and take you in real quick just so you can see the third round of chemical testing how these products looked or how they look you see we got a flat panel that's wet that's often like a mug and then we have not the best beating but after three rounds of chemicals I mean they're still beating there and there's still obvious and water repellency so I think that is pretty cool in fact I'd say that I am quite surprised by the results of this so there you guys have it I'm gonna go ahead and get my inning thoughts well there you guys have it that was McGuire's hybrids for ceramic whacks against hydrocele axes recharge now both of these products are claimed to be sio2 or ceramic coating products and so we see now how they stand up against chemicals so a pro to each product with the hydro cilix it is very easy to apply and I'm actually I really do enjoy the application process with McGuire's hybrid ceramic wax a pro to that product is the fact that I could go up to any sio2 coating that's on a vehicle and I can spray it on and I can go ahead and rinse it off and it will enhance or it will top off or kind of reinvigorate the ceramic coating that is on the surface of the vehicle now a con for each product of a large confrim or for I'm sorry hydro cilix recharge is the price at $35 a pint that is a bit pricey but as you can see it stands up pretty well in chemicals against chemicals and and when it comes to the torture testing where McGuire's hybrid ceramic wax a large confer it is the fact that it doesn't last too long and now you have to you're kind of forced to go ahead and reapply every time and so with that being the case and that being the scenario what do you think what are your thoughts of the products what do you think is something that is profitable or works well for you in your environment what do you think about both products we'd love to see your comments we would love to hear your thoughts and your input in the comments section
