[Music] legend Chuck Turner with us so this is a great opportunity and thank you so so so much by honor and my pleasure to be with a lovely lady from Estonia thank you so much hello to all my friends in Estonia [Music] well I astonished with people that do things extraordinary people that that take possible out of impossible they do something that someone else knows you can't do that and when they do it that inspires me and the thing is I don't need it as motivation for me to continue put in my normal 10 15 20 hours a day practice but it inspires me what I see someone like Tiger Woods that was one of the recent ones when he won the championship again after heel back lose in back injury and the was situation with his wife and so he took a dive and he tried a struggle and it worked and he came back and went to the top that was extremely expiring and I was very very yeah which one of your achieved goals make sure the proudest and how did you manage to achieve it my beautiful wife Kim we've been together 30 years and she is worth I would give up everything I have including my talents with a card for her the second is my son ASA spades spelled ASAS ax whose mill name the space like that like the card in the deck ASA spades that's my son and so those are two things that personally I'm proud of and I love and then professionally of course when I won the performer of the year a close-up magician here at the Magic Castle and then when I wanted on the fiftieth anniversary which was a big one because David Copperfield was honored Siegfried and Roy were honored and some other very legendary person so to win the 50th was a was a cool one and and then another cool one I was too recently honored in Japan on a two on a miniseries a TV miniseries called only number one knows and I didn't know what was gonna happen until it happened in front of me live they just said please we have we want you to come and I only went because they paid and their first class and the her movie dealt was getting ready to open in Japan and there and what it was was mr. maryk who's the number-one magician in the Japan he had the authority to say who is the number one in the world and he consulted at fizzle with all the top magicians and it was only as it happened live in front of all these famous Japanese TV stars and movie stars and top models that I realize you're talking about me and I was going oh my gosh and I didn't know I had my truck what is he saying and that's when I realized that I was I was being honored in such an amazing way so that was very exciting and another bubbly one another one was when I got my black belt because I took one of the most difficult tests anywhere in the United States and actually were the most difficult by fall test in the world I had to fight ten rounds like a boxer Muhammad Ali goes ten rounds but it's the same fighter all right with Murphy Mison say you had to have a fresh filer each round fresh black with each round you're getting tired they're not because they're fresh and I survived I had my nose smashed the second round I caught a ridge hand out here I had a ruptured right ear drum the groin was open shot at one guy when they were wearing a clench he took his knee and rammed it right up between my legs and I'm holding my yourself oh yeah Stanley I almost passed out and in the seventh round I fought the heavyweight champion of Mexico and he was a mean guy and I was I was covered up and I caught a roundhouse kick right here and he broke this on him so I fought three and a half rounds with a broken right arm but I still kept going and I earned my black belt and the next day the whole bloody mess was spread across the front page from where the biggest newspapers in the United States called it Los Angeles Times so it's pretty cool it's amazing what are the elements characteristics actions that a great magician must have first passion they might anybody whatever area you must be passion passionate about what you do you must not have to be you must not have to force yourself to do it it has to be the other way around people have to force you to stop you know I I would people would have to take the cards out of my hand and I'm hey you know the only time I wasn't practicing was when I was fighting training or or even eating I would practice and even in the ocean showering and surfing I'd have cards in my hand and you can watch it on other movies but passion is the first thing and then when you want to but first you decide the area that you want to go and if we're talking about magic decide which area we go you don't want to be a jack-of-all-trades continue you you're not really good at any worth anything pick an area my area is all gambling the gambling technique which with card magic and sleight ahem are considered the most difficult things to develop and so that was the area that I loved growing up because I played cards and I was water win this one forgot way so that could win and I did win and so that was what I was passionate about then and they want to have the privilege of meeting professor de Vernon who was called the considered the father of close-up magic and for though for the past hundred years was one of the most influential men in sleight of hand and he chased he spent his life chasing down professional gamblers to learn their secrets of the moves that they would use at the card table to take the money from the other players and with the gambling stuff you can't use misdirection like a magician can't wave over here and do something over here no misdirection misdirection that people go what you know the heat comes on and I'm from in Texas the guns come out and bang bang bang because bullets can cause death lead poisoning no but but that's the first thing I guess is passion analyze what you do break it down piece by piece component to component move to move analyze every aspect of what it is you want to do and figure out how it's the most naturally done you don't want strange unnatural actions some magicians will cover a bad action with a more unnatural action to cover the fact that there is a they might do a real big action to cover up another action and that becomes suspicion onto the on top of suspicion you know you you're so you want to make sure whatever it is you're doing you you make it as natural and as easy as if you're dealing see I have three year-old Candela card off the top so if I'm gonna want to deal in the second card I want it to be just just as easy with no effort and if they if they if you are actually like there's no effort in what you're doing there see then then it takes the heat off so you want to be very without noticeable I learned from Professor diver naturalness naturalness make it go with a normal flow of things you don't have to say these are for normal coins and maybe they're not you don't if you have to say they're normal the immediately they're suspicious why'd you say they're normal are they usually not normal you know this is a normal deck of cards why did you say listen normal taken cards why are they usually not normal okay see but how I got tricked by diver Ninh most of you know now that I'm my vision I saw losing my sight when I was a little boy nine years old and in it was a degress slow digression of my retina for a degeneration we're slowly the retina the set the retina the big part of the most important part I slowly dissolved nothing and so back when I was first started working with Professor and back in 1975 I could see on the corner of my eye the center of my eye was the mat is the macula it had no vision it was gone the macula was gone and so I could only see either edge and even that was a blur and so he would say Richard look at my hands he said you don't want to hold the cards like this it's too suspicious it must be a big deal surrounding the cards and with unnatural actions he said you want to hold the cards very comfortable he said I feel my hands you want all the fingers on the side of the deck because that's the way a normal person will do it they don't grip the deck like they're trying to squeeze a chicken to death they tweeze their neck and and so he described to me the moves not the way he could do them but anyone else could do him in the way that he wished they could be done and the thing is how he tricked me is I thought he could do it but I found out years later he made it up you just want to see what I've come up with who are other people that has empowered inspire some of the other people they've inspired me of course professor Vernon was number one Charlie Miller who was a student of divergence but was one of the top card men in history you know he goes back to the 1930s and all the way up and then another one was a man named Tony Giorgio he was my nemesis he was the guy that was mean and nasty you would tell me when I was you know going up the ladder no it won't get the money you wouldn't yell at me and scream and he was a bust out man originally I was he was a card cheater at the casino and then he became an actor and he's most famed most well-known for a movie called The Godfather story Matt brought Marlon Brando there's a scene in Godfather where this guy takes a knife and stabs the guy's hand and pins his hand to the bar the guy with the knife in his hand that was the guy I'm talking about Tony Giorgio he prayed played Bruno Tattaglia in that movie so he would yell and scream and then but he but because of that that's a good thing if someone criticizes you don't get depressed take it to heart use it for going in to inspire you better George you would say this and so I've I would okay that means I don't do it this way I should do it this way so it made me work harder and then eventually we we battle each other for 12 about 20 years and then in 2001 we had a showdown at the Magic Castle in Hollywood and then Georgie goes I don't let the money that will get the money no that's the best compliment you could receive from a professional hustler like him and after everything I I did and then the guy that hated my guts was my nemesis actually wrote me a five-page handwritten letter and stating that I I was the most inspirational person he's ever met in his life and that my work is incomparable and that came from my enemy from the guy that at first did not like now another really good contemporary someone today a man named Steve forty is amazing George Joseph was also a casino protection authority he's amazing and then some of the other magicians out there that you see like Shyamal in you're very very clever but when he's a magician with the other people I'm talking about or gambler mechanics card and the term card mechanic is somebody who can fix a card game that's an actually a legitimate term I call myself a car mechanic not because I made it up it's because that is a term that's been around for a hundred and fifty years way before they invented the automobile or card mechanic and that's where they occur that's a mechanic's grip came from because a mechanic would hold the deck in a certain way and they called it a mechanic's grip because they couldn't do their dirty work without the cards the untell in a certain way it's just what I am and the slang term is a card shark or they call them sharpers or achievers hustlers drifters I even do the motor that's why I don't know you did thank you that's it though what is the thing that I do there was probably the most difficult the first is probably the particular second deal that I do and it's because of the way I do it most people will hold the deck in a McCain mechanic's grip and when they go to deal the second they will cross their thumbs so they can you taste access the top the top part of the second card and they would deal it out and the thing about this is you can see the card coming out at this pepper toerner and I'm exaggerating it and then crossing the thumbs itself is an unnatural action and then they'll hide it by doing this we call them necktie dealership they're bringing it up to the necktie Susie's doing that they're hiding their disarm section with a mortar sellers action like we talked about earlier now if you watch my this is my push up and professor name that the Turner sweep second and in the car that thumb doesn't go anywhere near the top and you can see you can see there's there's no leaking and I only have a instant because it's only when the thumb is crossing me right here that I have a chance to get all of that card peel it out and that's how fast I can do so solely to the zone once again but you only have a blink of an eye to engage that second card and deal it and it's the yes and I cross here that I I get it out so to have developed it like that where there's none of the unnatural actions and I'm taking the card where the card is that I have I have done this in front of a live audience I've done tens of thousands of shows and I've done that one the move in front of a live audience over five million times and I've actually done it in practice over 100 million times we're talking early I'm doing this I deal a second but in the middle feel a second put it in the middle and I do that like five hours at 18,000 times in a row at a time yup 3,600 times in an hour I'll just hit the deal one out put it in dealer and I just don't subconsciously I create a move analyze it practice it in slow motion so I know if that's exactly what I want and I said to do it slow motion and then it becomes a subconscious Evan I don't have a thing about doing I'm just sitting here talking I'm walking down the street I'm actually was on a jet boat yesterday where they had jet boat zooms really really fast go 60 70 miles an hour and the water splash it over and I wanted to see if I could practice it so you even filmed it and then the whole time I make this deal in a second card out for the milk I did it like this to kind of block some of the water and my hands got totally soaked the cards got totally soaked and then every now and then I would stop and not see if I could still family cards and then I would stop and see if I could still do a one-handed shuffle and then I would go back to dealing dealing seconds during that one hour of just zipping 60 70 miles an hour in that jet boat sorry I'd like to put myself in position to challenge to make it harder like a baseball player they have when they warm up they won with two or three bats if they can practice with three bats then when they get one better oh it feels so easy when I used to fight I would put around my ankles weights ankle weights and I put a ten pound and a two and a half pound ten pound and two and a half pound on each legs that's like twelve and a half pounds extra weight and I'd practice all my kicks and then ones time to fight take them off and my legs is flew like they were butter little butterfly yes mostly being but uh well I'm a card connoisseur that I like a quality make card the United States playing card company makes the best cards in the world and B has always been their premium product like you go into a store and you buy a piano as a piano store they have the cheap ones medium price in the very expensive ones these were always the most expensive and the second that everybody the most common was the bicycle rider back and if you go into the store and one quarter upper left would only be two rows blue a row of red be a row of blue B and then they have four rows of bicycle poker size then they have a row of bicycle bridge size the smaller ones then they would have the pinochle decks and all the other oddballs that go down the line but this was always the premium deck the best made em funniest thing that happen to me as the first thing that happened I was a fine thing I don't think there's something funny that I did I was the subject of a movie called dealt de alt like Delta hammock cards and you can watch it in Estonia on Netflix all right yes you can watch the movie and they spent five years filming it and the last scene in the movie my sister she also lost her vision that was same as I did and the last movie you see her showing me how to walk her seeing-eye dog if you would have saw what happened right after that my son was behind me and I had it this way no time try to coat on in my coat was a flatulation machine a fart machine yeah that makes that sound so we're walking and all of a sudden he pushes the button and then my sister goes wait you boy that was you sure that wasn't me that was you then then you push the button another big one and then Laurie that's touchy they're filming us and you're sitting there party I go get your dog everywhere she goes if my dog does not fart that's the jump you dog this party he's good my dog doesn't do that and she was so bloody mad and I was laughing so hard I almost choked to death I was laughing so hard and then finally we had to tell us suppose I have a fart machine in here and he says the button he's pushing it but if you were to watch that scene as if they would have put that in the movie that's what happened next so if it was so funny to me I didn't know already like that got her so good a new Golgi first some things I've experienced everything I've been all over the world I've been seen in over 200 countries by over a billion and a half people so in that regard I've already met some of the most amazing people in the world from Estonia for and everywhere else and but one of the cool things the dream is I created some board games I wanted to come up with the ultimate gambling and I created it 35 years ago but in 1985 I started working on and they will be coming out on the world market next year and my partner is a guy named David Rachel are e IC H ELT and he created a game called core switch and color switch became the number one game in the world in 1915 that 2015/2016 and over a quarter of a billion people have downloaded that game and he and I apart partnering up and were taking my games I have three of them when it's called shark showdown which is the smaller version Texas soda I'm the bigger version and then another puzzle card game that I created when I was 11 years ago 55 years ago 54 years ago and then just came and now it will be coming out as an app that you can play on your phone and it's called Daddy be a TTY because it drives you batty yes but that's my future that's what's coming up next that's very exciting yes it is it's very cool do you think like it's magic do I think life is magic I definitely think life is magic I think there is a creator up there like a giant magician in the sky they call him people call him God whatever and that logician fascinates me I'm fascinated by all of creation like in the Bible it says that God this magician took dirt and he made and in his image he made men kind of like him you know big magician made a little magician and that sounds a little crazy yeah but but then we think about what have we done as a little magician made from Turk we've done the same thing if you think about God took dirt and he made a bird right we took dirt and we made a jet flying a jet it's like a bird and everything on that jet is made out of dirt you'll metal all of it metal the seats everything else comes from one part of dirt or another God took dirt and made an eye a since then they can see we took dirt and made a camera the camera this filming you and me right now making you look good and I'm sorry I'm sitting next to you with that thank God that that he made an eye yeah I didn't got to dirt and he made a brain brain we can think we can realize that we're here God we took dirt and we made a computer you're something to calculate trillions of calculations a second some of them and and what is the chip this made out of sand which is just a form of dirt so we can see how just big God in the sky is greater than God this hasn't it has created us in His image and we in our as a little piece of this big creative have created our own magic and and and again some of the things that he he created totally fascinate me like I'm fascinated by class class something we took dirt we made glass you can't see it it's solid let's solve some of it's so hard you can't break over the rock but yeah you can't see it when you under look on a microscope you're looking at a cell or some kind of medicine or whatever but the glass between glass you can't see the glass how can how is that possible something that's solid as rakh you can't see him that's fascinating to me that we were able to do that be God painted all his creations he has birds and and fish and all his rocks rubies emeralds sapphires he painted everything beautiful for us I'm fascinated by fruit fruit like people say evolution I don't have that kind of faith why did a banana invite involve himself with the fruit inside the peel why did it orange make itself already sliced up for you inside the peel magicians do a trick where they they take a and they throw a card and they show how the banana got sliced but we take a pin in that bandana and go like this stick a pin in there it's like this and we and then when there when we peel it it's all sliced up inside got something that's a trick that we do but God did it inside of her like a grapefruit and orange a lemon how did he slice it inside of the peel to me that that shows that there's a there's a creative engineer behind everything and then we have that same mind and we are able to then create our own magic thank you so much for your time is there any place where we can find your line maybe oh yes my my website is Richard Turner 52 dot-com Richard Turner 5 - like how many cards in a deck calm and you'd watch all kinds of shows on YouTube my youtube channel but if you just google Richard Turner I have TV shows and movies and stuff all over the world and then dealt movie.com if they people want to watch dealt and outside the US you watch it on Netflix all over the world and Amazon Prime Google Play Apple Apple Apple Store all those places you can watch the movie and they spent five years filming it um they did a really good job it's touchy in people's lives all over the world so it's called dealt to de alt and it's it's a fun movie even though I happen to be the subject of its telephone movie thank you so much for your time I really I appreciate it's so so much I'm sure this is so inspirational oh my by far not that you thank you thank you you're valuable is there anything that you would like to talk about uh say [Music] hello to all my friends in Estonia you
