Mclaren 600LT complete color change.

there's someone what's going on guys I'm Tyler I'm Jade today we're in the paint shop with the McLaren 600 LC build bro and uh we're starting to get a little jittery and excited because we're getting close to painting this thing it has been a long haul not that long just a lot of work and um this is where it all starts to pay off and get rewarding so [Music] [Music] thank you foreign this down we're actually going to jam the body um jam the quarter panels uh get the base layer of gray on the quarter panels and paint the roof flat so [Music] what's up guys Tyler this is my name when you're so sick sleep deprived yes we are in the booth 2 23 in the morning um I don't know what the what the hell are we doing here Jake we are crazy we are freaking crazy but you know what guys you have passion for what you do you love what you do ain't that hard just kidding this is hard as even though I love this but we have a timeline we have a schedule we're trying to hit it and some late nights like this is what it's going to take or all nights whatever we're doing here so right now we're in the booth we have the car masked up um and we've applied sealer to the jam areas and quarter panels and the roof and we've applied the color to the roof now that's complete and dry we're going to go ahead and mask the roof off and we're going to finish the color on the jams because it's like a two-tone different color deal guys I was thinking about something as we're working here 2 30 in the morning on this car matter of fact I went and took a break a little bag of chips I was searching online I'm like you know what I'm gonna go see I'm gonna go see out there what McLarens are for sale at McLaren 600 LTS are for sale it's all a bunch of dope McLaren 600 LTS for sale it's like damn I should have just bought one I wouldn't be here doing this exhausting myself killing myself I mean you know I did buy one but should have just gone to a dealership and bought one but that is what built is about um it's about the build it's about the process of it it's about everything you learn from doing that it's about the character you build from the hard work in uh and really investing into something like this it's about the relationship that you build with the people that you're building the car with it's about the relationship that you build with the car every time I drive this car I'm going to think about this knife that looks like me and my nephew are going to pull an all-nighter um you can't get those experiences any other way not to mention the experience and the knowledge and the skill of doing something like this so that's what we're about it's uh it's not just go out and buy it because you have the money it's build it because you can and build it because you want to [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you [Music] alrighty guys so we're in the booth getting ready to paint the parts up here and I want to do a little bit of a talk a little bit about our paint process and why we're doing things the way we're doing it I've said a lot throughout this build that we're doing an oem level color change or an oem quality color change technically the quality of the paint is going to be a little better than pretty much any of the OEM paints you can find because we are eliminating orange peel and not leaving Sand scratches and dirt that we found in this uh original paint but aside from that when you're doing a color change or when you're doing any paint job really the highest quality way and like it came from the factory would be due um completely gut everything and disassemble it and I've seen some people on some Facebook groups that I've posted the uh the car on the McLaren owner Facebook groups asking why I'm disassembling the car I posted a picture of it is like it looks like a gutted shell almost minus the engine and drivetrain and everything and um in order to get that quality paint job and get all the way around to the the seams of everything like these parts right here are just in here right now to get pre-jammed so we're going to spray the color for the outside of the car on the inside and in all the jam areas and then um they're going to get painted again but they're going to be kind of hanging on the car so that we can get all the metallic and everything to line up right and look just perfect so that's the deal with all these parts here but we do want to make sure that color wraps around every little Edge and nook and cranny and you can see the extent we went to to do that here but I it would have been a lot easier just to leave the accents gray on the car but I was you know we needed to make this different we didn't want to go through all this work to make it the same as every other 570 or 600 LT out there uh with that Palladium gray or carbon fiber accents and this is how far we're taking this so uh We've gutted these doors complete wire harness door uh window regulators you name it latches everything speakers it's all gutted out of here and we're gonna recolor the inside of these door jambs to match the rest of the black accent parts that we did on the car just like it was originally except everything was gray now everything is going to be our custom black so we've gone to far far extents to make sure this stuff is prepped properly these parts you see here actually are part of this door shell of course they were assembled at the factory in a certain manner but they're not serviced separately nor are you able to take these off so that's why these are the only pieces masked off on this area here but they are masked at a seam they're not masked in the middle of the panel so we're gonna hop in here all this stuff's going red the color of the car at least the jams are and then we're going to clear cut it so that when we go to spray the stuff on the car we don't have to do sealer and all that stuff that kind of can build up in the edges all we'll have to do is apply the metallic base coat color and then put the candy over the top of that then we're going to take the panels off the car and clear coat them off the car so that's kind of the process we're going to go through here we're going to pop in and get this all cleaned up and ready to rock and roll [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] okay so we have the McLaren in the prep shop here we have prepared all the paint but how original all right guys okay so we have prepared all the paint for uh masking and we have cleaned the prep shop and we've made it as everything is clean as clean clean can be kits yeah sure sure um anyway this is going to be a really complicated Mass tomorrow I am very blessed to have um our lead painter at Showtime Collision going to be helping me with this tomorrow because I'm a little rusty on the masking and if you want a clean paint job you have to get it right and you have to get it tight like most things in life and um that's how we like them right so we like them right and tight that's right and uh so anyway we're gonna get a really clean masking job but it's very complicated all the curves and you gotta mask this part off on the door because it's this is part of the door it can't be removed and um got a mask the engine bay off and do everything and then we're going to have some real trickery where we're going to bolt up the panels like the lower quarter and the rear bumper and the front bumper we're gonna bolt all those pieces up so that when we lay the metallic down and we lay the candy down all of it has even coverage all the metallic lines up perfectly we have even coats of the three stage candy Pearl process that goes on there if you painted the bumper off the car there's a chance you could put the candy heavier here or there and it would never match you and you would never get it to match if you don't paint at the same time so it's going to be a really tricky paint job um I I think I estimated that we're going to have thank you 11 coats of paint that are gonna make up this just the red paint job on this that's not including all the black that we've already painted and double clear coated and all that kind of stuff so um this is probably going to be take a good five six hours tomorrow once it's in the booth it's going to take all day to prep this thing and get it in the booth and paint it so but I'm really excited this is where all the hard work pays off all the repairs that we did and paid so much attention to are really going to shine and all the preparation we put into this is really going to come out and the whole car is going to look beautiful once it's painted so really excited for that now Jake's gonna get some b-roll [Music] come on in Boots With Me guys and I'm going to show you what we're up to tonight while we let this simmer it hasn't previously discussed we are going with a unique color scheme on the car out here so every McLaren 570s or 600 ltuc is going to have that gray accent color which is really nice don't get me wrong or carbon fiber accents and very few MSO cars we're going to have colored accents on the car so this car is going to be super unique because we have chosen a one of one black pearl that I made toner by toner and dialed it just to how I wanted it it's just kind of a black with a nice Red Pearl like pearlescent iridescent look to it when the Sun hits it so all these parts in here are all accent parts that are going to be painted that black color we have already done the roof on the car we've already done the door shells on the car now all of these lower ground effects items the Mirror covers um parts of the bumper the side scoots for the car they're all going to be that same black color [Music] thank you foreign [Music] thank you [Music] [Laughter] I'm very excited to tell you we're finally in the booth putting color on the 600 LT Port we spent the entire day preparing this car it was already sanded mind you we spent the entire day masking this car preparing the bumper pieces to fit up to the car getting everything just perfectly dialed so I started spraying it about seven o'clock and we have our gray shade like base layer that's going to go down that all of the other things are going to stack on top of to get that beautiful and finish that is already laid down I'm gonna hop in the booze and we're gonna put some color on [Music] foreign [Music] [Music]
