A small story that not many would care about.
I grew up a Lions fan. My favorite player is and was Barry Sanders. My sister used to tell me about all the great things he did when I was too young to remember much. (I was born in 1990).
No one else in my family is a Lions fan. I in fact don't know any other Lions fans in real life.
I've eaten shit for 31 years rooting for Detroit. I've defended Stafford since the day he was drafted, and I defend him today. He's been my favorite active player since the day he was drafted, even over Calvin (who has always been my 2nd favorite).
When the Lions traded my boy, I took my Fandom out west and became a Rams fan. Yeah, you can call me a new fan or a bandwagoner if you want. I don't care. I ate shit for 31 years and I finally left my abusive relationship with the Ford family. All of the awful shit that happens to the Lions is squarely on the Fords. No one else.
Watching Stafford overcome all the obstacles this year has been so liberating and justifying. Even through the down weeks, the rough starts, the picks, the fumbles, the errant throws... I knew he had it in him. The Rams had his back, and he had theirs. Above all the Rams feel like a family. A bunch of dudes who genuinely love each other. They play together, win together and lose together.
That's how they won the big one. They played like a family.
I say all of that to say this, I fucking love the Rams. Prior to this year I was fairly ambivalent about them. I rooted for them usually, but not always. But I'm a Ram for life now.
Run it back. Put my boy in the hall, put Kupp in the hall, put AD in the hall. Get that second ring. (And then a third)
Fuck them picks!
(Maybe not such a small story but whatever.)
PS: this video was fucking lit.

DeSean Jackson sighting in the video. Must be rough that he walked away from a Super Bowl
