so I'm going to take you through first and foremost uh Ray video Imaging how I would master that to sound excellent exciting enhance the high frequencies make it sound crisp and fantastic then we've got a question actually came in from um carobell actually on the chat Cado Bell was wondering about loudness in mastering particularly for things like Spotify and iTunes we'll delve into that as well and uh we'll get on into all kinds of other stuff anything I'll be led by the comments that are up here as well so anything you post at youtube.com music radio creative wow George is from Chile Melissa uh avoiding marking this is great not quite sure what that means Melissa Oliver but thanks anyway air attacks hello to you um mastering squared cameraman Vivo what's up Mr Russell hey and and catch me live but if not there's always a replay more shout outs before I get into it as you can see appearing above my head right now this is a chat from youtube.com music radio creative Ryan says videos are awesome thank you very much at mastering Adobe Audition Roland says hello Melissa um you guys having fun uh having a parody with the name of this video uh Sunil says thanks to the videos True Green hey Mike uh Lewis McAdam love to know vocoding yes that's that Lewis that's a great question and something I definitely cover I've done it a few times uh back on my YouTube channel in the archives but definitely I'll do a live stream about that very very good idea uh there's chat is going way too fast for me to keep up with but as you can see you'll see it going on above my head uh so you can keep up with the live chat even after the event uh so we've got more comments on Facebook you Zephyr is watching nice to see you Mike hello hello right let's hop into it right now and uh again if you've got any questions do ask them in the chat wherever you're watching now I'll do my best to get to them even if you're on Twitch or on Periscope I'm doing my best to follow what is happening right okay here's a jingle that I did earlier on today let's have a listen to it is the weekly podcast series by chapter X to Lounge in the day and start your weekend right okay fantastic radio UK is asking on Periscope what's that behind the screen yeah this is the live chat from youtube.com music radio creative go and get featured on my video um oh and one last thing before while I mix this down and show you how I would Master this um Tom's on his lunch break um on YouTube they've introduced a new thing called Super Chat yes that's right Super Chat and it's only available to you when you're live and I'd really appreciate you if you use it in fact I'd love if someone could do a test so I can see what it looks like in this wonderful chat above my head but essentially if you click the uh the dollar sign I believe it is next to the emoji icon bottom left of the YouTube chat um you'll have the opportunity to make a donation uh some of it goes to Google but some of it does come to me so you support these videos and uh you can just either just give a small donation or you can give a donation and ask a question and it will get featured up here and I will definitely ask you a question uh if it gets featured in Super Chat can be guaranteed to that and if I don't know the answer I'll find out the answer for you okay how's that for guarantee anything about audio not stuff like what did I have for breakfast or what razor blade do I use to trim my beard you know let's give it to audio questions only although if you want to do a super chat and ask me about razors I use to shave my beard then happy to answer that for you too right so here we go uh this is a mix down here of that jingle that I just played you and as you can see it's not got much of a dynamic range we can Crush that down even further by mastering this might be quite good if you're sending out demos for instance uh often you don't get that radio processing so you want to master something ready for somebody at the other end to listen to if you're mastering for radio or if it's a commercial you might use a different method but here we go just for an Imaging jingle what I would do so already as you can hear this sounds pretty good A lot of compression going on there already a lot of effects it's uh already the dynamic range is pretty much crushed down so what else what can we do with this well let me show you why it is so special this wonderful wonderful mastering effect which you get from effects special and mastering in the waveform view of Adobe Audition and here it is I was actually playing with it earlier on uh moving it all around just getting used to the features so I'm going to walk you through all the features on this then I will get into a little bit about loudness especially for Kato Bell who asked about that earlier on on Facebook Hey to e primify By the way first time you'd be able to catch me live so I I think this time slot is a good time to go live I'm going to be doing it Monday to Friday now until about mid-august because I go on holiday at the end of August so until mid-august definitely guaranteeing you a live show at this time every day Monday to Friday um so let's take a look at how mastering works in the latest version of Adobe Audition go to default so we've got a nice Flat Line there and I can walk you through it all and I'll show you how it affects things and then we'll have a play with it I'll also show you how how it's going to affect things in loudness and I'll show you finally how I'd Master a song Jingle which is similar to mastering a song or something for iTunes or Spotify okay right um what do we do first well when we play back you'll notice first of all up here the live frequency display this is the weekly podcast series by chapter X okay and you can see there we go it's a live frequency which is something Adobe Audition has just introduced in one of its latest episodes so let's go over to the window just make it a bit bigger and I'm going to show you frequency analysis this is available in older versions of Adobe Audition oh it's um it's getting blotted out by the chat so let me just pop it out actually let me yeah what I'll do is I'll undock the panel and move it over so it doesn't disrupt the live chat hang on let me just pull that back out and so we haven't got the the live chat on my video interrupted and then you can see up here as well the live uh frequency analysis as well playback this is the weekly podcast series by chapter X so you can see all those frequencies in real time two ways you can do it there and there um so what I'm going to do first of all is show you how this red line works okay this red line is a simple EQ but for different sections of your audio now if you're mastering just for something like uh radio or a demo you might want to add a little bit of high frequency so I'm going to switch off this High shelf enable for the moment and just focus on the peaking enabled dot which is there now notice like with normal EQ I can move this down and up like that so I can really choose the frequencies I want to enhance by default I might leave it around a kilohertz just under a kilohertz and I'll show you how it affects things when I play back and move it around I'm gonna move it up so you can hear it up 3.8 DB and then move it I'm going to swipe it up and down so you can hear [Music] Lounge in the day and start your weekend right okay hopefully uh you heard a difference just let me know in the uh the chat above there there let me know if you can hear the differences as I'm swiping up and down eritas says it's midnight but I'm into it right now uh you primify I'm Canadian but uh your shows are at 5am oh dear yeah you have to set your alarm uh and we've got a viewer now York TV from Tanzania which is absolutely fantastic great to have you there right so what I do now is just find a frequency that I want to enhance with this wonderful mastering preset so you can hear if I put it down there it's enhancing the base up here it's enhancing the treble and here it's the mid mids can sound a bit like washed out and bass can sound a bit too muddy um Peter Young asked a great question just above my head there uh he asks what's the difference between mastering and EQ so mastering is a lot more than EQ mastering is about adding a little bit of subtle EQ but you should be doing that in your mix in the multi-track first and foremost but then you've got other features I'm going to go into in this video like Reverb excitement excitement through the Exciter uh stereo widening loudness maximizer all those things that prepare your audio for its final destination that could be another listener on the internet could be a podcast listener it could be someone who's listening to a great demo that you've made of your voiceovers or Jingles uh it could be anything it could be for the radio it could be for Spotify um so yeah there's a lot more than EQ but obviously I will get into uh the EQ first and foremost so Saint Lucia in the Caribbean high white wall Productions uh thank you eprimify you're inspired to keep learning right so I'm going to find the right frequency now to enhance [Music] okay just about there which is uh just over 7000 Hertz gives me a nice clear crisp sound can you hear it and then I'm going to switch this off notice when I toggle this on and off the difference this is the weekly podcast series by chapter X dramatic effect there and the best thing about this is it's uh it's not just isolating that frequency but it's isolating a lot of different frequencies so um we kind of get a lot of different frequencies that are enhanced by using this queue here uh moving it up to 12 or down uh to 0.2 you can either go wide with your frequency enhancement or you can go to a notch frequency enhancement let me show you the difference by chapter X so you really are picking out individual frequencies there go down and wide that's a bit too wide because I'm I can hear I'm enhancing too much of the treble and it's really banging my ears out greetings from Mexico hey God bless to you Tiara uh Anthony yeah finally caught you live greetings from gcfx Radio in Jacksonville Florida this is going to be my regular time slot by the way Monday to Friday so uh make sure you get it scheduled in your calendar or diary I will be pre-scheduling these live streams as well so you'll you'll know that they will be there so let's go back to where we want one cue and play it again although turn that down a bit too this is the weekly podcast series by chapter X okay so we found our frequency range that we want to enhance that sounds pretty good remember before muddy and Bassy after this is the weekly podcast clear and crisp so really is a dramatic uh difference and that's just uh EQ there um we can do other stuff like low shelf and high shelf uh I might show you that in a bit though because I want to get onto the other effects now to show you how they affect things right everything is at zero at the moment as you can see but we can add on reverb and it'll be quite clear to you how this affects the mix when I play it back it's affecting the the ambience the uh you know that kind of echoey Ambience which is good when you're doing voice over production or even music production and you want to add a bit of Reverb to the final mix so it's important to add Reverb individually to uh speakers or singers and other tracks but this is an overall Reverb listen to How it affects as I turn it up so we the weekly series by chapter X to Lounge in the day and start your weekend right okay so we need to find a good amount of Reverb ipremify is likely Isabella might join a stream if I can drag her in uh awal is there thank you so much for the videos learned a lot of things and it's all over there in the uh in the chat it's appearing up there so let me turn that Reverb up and get a good place [Music] I'm just going to listen to the end of the jingle again right get right can't write again right can write it's quite a tinny uh Reverb and you can't actually change the style of Reverb in the mastering effect so you've got to make sure you're happy with the overall sound I'm going to keep it around twenty percent again right okay that's good just a little bit of subtle uh Reverb and EQ I'm going to turn the EQ down a bit I think it's a bit too harsh now listening to it uh next you've done your EQ you've done your Reverb in the mastering panel what about the Exciter what is an Exciter and why do we need exciters exciters are brilliant things particularly if you're working in radio Imaging I I love a bit of excitement when I'm doing radio Imaging and here it is for you right here um now an Exciter is uh kind of like um it's something that brings out the high harmonics it makes audio sound clear and crisp and just generally does good things uh retro um preset tape preset tube preset all do different things uh retro is a kind of high frequency Distortion so I'll play that one to you in a minute uh tape is um it's kind of more of a old style High excited effect and and Tube is very Dynamic and quick at its effect but let's um let's see whether I can crank it up to 100 and see if that's gonna blow my ears out hang on and play it back oh it's not too bad but you can hear the difference okay with retro on with it off so you can hear a real real kind of tinny Distortion there let's do tape and hopefully if you're listening in good enough quality uh you will hear the uh the difference there between all of the um uh different uh excitement effects so you've got retro you've got tape in there and bits like that uh tube is like this series by chapter X to Lounge in the day and start your weekend right okay I'm gonna go for the tape Exciter and I'm just going to bring it up a little bit [Music] as you can see it's distorting so I'm gonna need to pull down the output game which is down here let's pull it down a bit the weekly podcast series by chapter X to Lounge in the day and start your weekend right now remember we started from this this is the weekly podcast and we've already gone to this is though clear and crisp I think anyone with ears will agree uh so there you go keep the comments coming in by the way above my head and I'll do my best to answer as many as I can uh what do we got here we have got design photography nice Tony Sackett says hi Mike uh great to catch you live great to see you in the chat uh Lewis is saying look forward to when you do one on vocoding uh I'm asked to do it all the time and not sure how to do it or In audition uh yeah there is a way yeah Power intro is a great opportunity to vote code audio you can actually do a bit of vocoding natively in Adobe Audition so I'll get into that definitely in a new video for you Lewis uh we got Ryan Sandy have to get back to work but we'll see you later on Ryan um no future for Internet radio says he brim of flame I might stick to audio production it's a dream channel for you good I'm glad um so let's get more into uh what we're doing here stereo Widener Widener effect okay listen to how the audio widens out when I move it up to 100 this is the weekly podcast series by chapter X to Lounge in the day and start your weekend right now only the very very very subtle of hearing will notice the difference um there was a bit here if I get that bit where I stuttered that was actually started left right left right um so you'll hear with it widened it sounds very left right you might want to put headphones on for that definitely on the replay and then pull it into the middle and then pull it to the end so if I move it to minus 100 now it's hardly stereo at all if I move it right out here it's very stereo I might just enhance the stereo by about twenty percent I know this is an odd compliment but thank you for uh existing Mike and love the Scruff yeah gone for the scruffy look you know Isabella the wife is trying to get me to shave away the mustache but it's it's reappearing I can't control it it's just coming back sorry about that uh so um yes there we go that's just that so I've whitened the stereo a little bit so what have I done so far I have increased uh the frequencies just around the high frequency range I've added a touch of Reverb I've used the Exciter to give a little bit of high treble Distortion the Widener just to make it a little more stereo than I started with uh loudness maximizer is a fantastic new thing oh and we've got a question I'm so sorry I do not know how to pronounce names in Russian but to the Russian letters person go slower okay hang on let me just take a glass sip sip here and we'll slow down Anthony Hall's asking which Imaging Library I recommend well of course our own uh go to musicradiocreative.com actually there's um there's a good variety over there at musicradiocreative.com just on the website if you go into the radio section and go to instant downloads sound effects and music uh they're all in there actually I did have a question the uh this morning from a professional voice over artist who's just got into uh adding uh effects and music to their their voice overs and they asked me if you were to buy uh two two of the um uh packages on the site which would you go for Mike I would personally go for work Parts volume eight this one here uh which is a fantastic deal because it's literally it's the latest work pass volume we have 398 beds 425 mind-blowing sound effects and 400 pads I mean you're not going to run out of those for a while so just getting started with that if you're looking for music beds though uh you might want to head into the podcast area because podcasters are very specific about having good music beds so in instant downloads there we created stuff especially for the podcasters if you go to show more and look for the podcast intro music volumes here you'll see they have high quality music beds that you can use and all of this stuff is royalty free you don't need to pay ever again to US unless you want to once you've bought those packages so uh good deal and thanks for asking uh George is saying I need help currently trying to set my microphone noise gate haha Noise Gate yeah good one another one I'm gonna have to start writing these down aren't I Noise Gate and vocoding Noise Gate for George Hodge and vocoding for Lewis let me just write that down and then we'll have it for a another stream Noise Gate I'm gonna get back to the mastering and vocoding and that's George and Lewis okay how would you like it as I'm doing a Daily Show now at this time Monday to Friday how would you like it if I did noise gating and vocoding in a video uh later this week let me know in the comments if that sounds like a reasonable idea to you I think I'll do that right back over here to the mastering so yeah EQ Reverb Exciter Widener loudness maximizer is cool watch how the um the audio levels change here this is where my audio levels are watch how they change when I whack this on to Lounge in the day and start your weekend right you might also hear a change but it's it's dramatic let me put it to 100 and I'm going to switch it on and off and just watch The Meters very closely to Lounge in the day and start your weekend right to Lounge in the day and start your weekend right the loudness maximizer is basically crushing the dynamic range like a sausage in fact it's it should be called the sausage effect um if I go into uh waveform preview here now uh you'll see yeah look it's a sausage it is a sausage look up there in the preview it's a sausage take the loudness maximizer off breathe out you have something with dynamic range so it depends how much you want to flatten things I'll go into why it's not a good idea to always flatten things in a moment it is in some cases particularly on the radio where you want to sound as loud as possible but it's not always a good idea to flatten things if you're mastering for like iTunes or Spotify and I keep calling iTunes it's Apple music now isn't it and I'll give you a great example of why you shouldn't do that next when we get into loudness for Cado Bell um before I forget uh during a 36 hour show oh yeah I did a 36 Hour podcast did I how long did I sleep but not at all but I did lots afterwards Peter would like to see in a future video uh showing how my multi-tracks are set up a complete template there with different stuff on each track I do Peter yes definitely want to get into that in the future so thank you uh keep the chats coming in by the way above my head loving this new chat feature I hope you guys are finding it handy too if you type something into youtube.com music radio creative you get featured right so loudness maximization let's see what we can do with it and start your weekend right if I was sending that to someone like as a demo like here's my latest production what do you think of it or I was uploading to SoundCloud I might put that on to about 20 or more um if certainly if I was uh sending it to a radio station as a demo of the kind of Imaging I do if I was um a voiceover looking for more work not as commercial uh voice over because commercial production is completely different we shouldn't be adding too much compression to to that but certainly if I was looking for radio Imaging gigs as a voiceover I definitely want a bit of loudness maximizer on my voice uh but for now I'm not going to put that in I'm going to leave that out so we're pretty much finished there and remember if you miss anything in this live stream you can always go back and watch the replay of this video it stays and lives at the same URL online so you just go back and play it once the replay is available catch up on anything you missed that seemed interesting um so um yeah output gain is down a bit let's see if that looks okay this is the weekly podcast I'm gonna go to minus three to make it uh to basically give us a Headroom of 3db there um I can show you after I've applied this now so that's my mastered um jingle there this is the weekly podcast series by chapter X to Lounge in the day and start your weekend right and bear in mind we started out with this this is the weekly podcast series by chapter X there you go this is quite a significant difference isn't there so when you put the mastering on so there you go basic mastering effects uh for a radio Imaging jingle hi there Eric uh from Nigeria who's watching um I'm sad the only microphone review You've Done is a Heil pr40 yes condenser and dynamic mics I need to cover more microphones you're absolutely right about that um I'm just going to undo the mastering and I'm going to go back and show you uh something that I didn't show you in this special mastering effect and that is if I take off the peaking enable and use low shelf and high shelf let's show you how you can use these very quickly so I haven't changed anything in my custom setup here which is Reverb 20 Exciter 30 Widener well let's call it 20. allowed to maximize the zero output gain minus three DB now low shelf and high shelf is basically adding on or taking away low or high frequencies let me give you a demo in real time I'll play back and I will add on low shelf first and foremost is the weekly podcast series by chapter X shoe Lounge so you can hear the low frequencies are enhanced series by chapter X here we go low and high that's a typical kind of loudness uh kind of EQ you know when particularly when you're using car stereo systems lots of bass lots of stereo that is the audio smile where it manipulates your audio and makes it sound falsely good or maybe good to you if you're driving in a car hi to Christy hello there thank you for tuning in and leaving a lovely comment on my YouTube channel at youtube.com music radio creative if you haven't done so already please please please hit the Subscribe button hmm would very much appreciate that so that's what you can do there you can even have the peaking enable ticked and then you've got your your Notch frequency there that you can select so you can go to real detail and I'll probably use that when I produce the sun jingle for you but I hope that gives you a good overview of the mastering effect I'm going to show you how it works with loudness next and then we'll get into the sun jingle but right now if you have any questions post them in the comments either over at uh facebook.com music radio creative you can also do it over at um youtube.com music radio creative they will appear above my head if you do that and uh twitch.tv music radio creative even on Periscope as well now uh let's get let's get let's get out of this and I'm going to show you uh why crashing down the dynamic range isn't a good thing particularly if you're mastering a track for music services like Spotify Amazon music Apple music back into the jingle that I was making earlier now this is obviously a voiceover jingle not a music track but it it will have the same effect and you'll see in here I'm going to take off the multiband compressor and I'm going to um yeah I'm going to mix down without the multiband compressor and you'll see how this should have quite a good dynamic range once we get the mix down here Keith Anthony Taylor hi Mike good to hear you sounding so good on both channels yes we're in stereo now on YouTube uh efforts appreciated thank you Peter uh podcasting on iPhone it is possible check out spreaker.com they do a good uh podcast friendly uh iPhone and Android app right have a look at this let me take off the preview window and uh let me actually normalize that to minus three DB have a look at that okay lots of well a fair amount of dynamic range not as much as if I was producing classical music but a fair amount so what I'm going to do with this now is I'm going to do two things I'm going to create two copies so let's copy this into a new audio file so we've got Untitled 2 and Untitled three here and I'll show you the difference so over here on Untitled 2 I'm going to leave it untouched with a little bit of dynamic range there over here on Untitled 3 I'm going to go back into my lovely special mastering effect effect I'm going to take it off set it back as I had it which was something like uh something it was something like that but this time I'm going to add on the stereo maximizer which you'll see is the sausage Eliza let's put it to 100 and you'll see how that will Flatline it perfect that's what I want okay firstly let me get rid of this frequency analysis now and uh let me show you right that is a sausage that is not a sausage listen to the difference between sausage and non-sausage audio podcast series by chapter X to Lounge in the day and start your weekend right okay and this is sausage by chapter X to Lounge in the day and start your weekend right okay very compressed now I know a lot of audio producers and music producers are so tempted to yeah let's flatten it down and a lot of EDM dance tracks all of that kind of stuff yeah let's get the Final Mix and let's crush it right down because it will sound great particularly to the the end user who's playing it through their stereo not always what would you say if I told you by doing this your track may appear quieter quieter not quieter quieter uh than other tracks on the same music streaming service so pretend that this is a piece of classical music and pretend that this is a piece of EDM music I am going to go into the match loudness uh window here for Adobe Audition uh this you can do yourself when mastering a track otherwise if you don't do it services like apple music and Spotify will do it automatically for you to meet their standards uh now I believe the standard certainly on Apple music is -16 lufts by the way you can access the match loudness window by going to window ticking match loudness so let's drag in Untitled 2 and Untitled 3 to match loudness then we'll analyze by clicking this magnifying glass the loudness as you can see Untitled 3 that was the uh the one with uh the sausage effect on it the really compressed version is that minus 10 laps okay so it seems quite a lot louder right than Untitled 2 which is at -17 lufts so have a guess right if I go into match louder settings now and do what Apple music would do uh change the target loudness to be -16 have a guess after this effect is applied have a guest now in the chat which of these two is going to be louder have a guess Untitled 3 the sausage one or the dynamic range one have a little think about that it's uh it's actually simple math if you look at uh what the loudness is on each of those tracks I love the the chat coming in I can't get to them all but obviously you can see them above my head and if you do a super chat I'll definitely answer your question so uh right okay we've had enough time to guess now uh but we are going to run this and you'll see how it affects both tracks so run it on both okay done this didn't change much but this one oh has changed dramatically uh so if I take away the spectral frequency display we see uh now and I can confirm this by going to amplitude statistics and scanning the selection uh that we're hitting a peak amplitude of minus 10 DB and then we'll go into the so that's the sausage one amplitude statistics and this is hitting a peak amplitude of -2 DB so actually the one with more dynamic range turns out to be a lot louder in the Final Mix than the one that's been compressed and smashed right down that is what loudness will do and of course like I say all the big Music Services apply this and um yeah you're absolutely right Anthony yeah number three was turned down quite a lot more so when you compare them side by side even though there'll be lows and highs in this track this is the weekly podcast there will be a difference in volume so if you want to be the loudest on the dial compressing certainly for music services and not always the best thing or compressing really harshly oh okay so um yeah keep those questions coming in wherever you happen to be watching um it's great to have you around by the way uh Cado Bell asking earlier on facebook.com music radio creative I really hope that that kind of um helped you a little bit with your your question there uh toys and says thanks for teaching over on Facebook live absolutely my pleasure uh Eric said felt weird being here under a username so I thought I'd use my real name well it's great to have your your real name in the chat and uh yeah youtube.com music radio creative comments up here there above my head now uh Second and final part of this tutorial on mastering audio mastering uh we'll be working with it uh when I do a sun jingle now as it happens funnily enough at music radio creative I have a song Jingle to produce today so I can actually walk you through the production of that sun jingle most of the work is done for me um this is not one that needs a lot of production or effects it's simply uh getting the vocal track sounding good popping it on top of the music bed leveling things out and then finally mastering before I send to the client so I'm hoping uh within about 25 minutes to show you all of that I will do my very very best uh to do that so let's go into the multi-track right now and I'm going to move over to um we've got two sessions here we got this one uh with the music bed this is wonderful you're going to really like this this is a 1950s Style music jingle [Music] okay oh by the way I did want to ask you a question if you could let me know hey pay the DJ Toronto is in the house nice Toronto Canada great City very close to my heart uh what do I export final mixes in caddo's asking uh usually wav internally if we're looking at music radio creative always laugh if it's for a customer most of our customers here's a shocking statistic for you even though they have the choice 98 of customers of music radio creative uh in our last um crunch of figures order MP3 still 98 still order to get MP3 uh a lot of the uh podcasters will go for wav on the occasion so there you go but yeah I hope that answers your question so there we've got a lovely sung jingle I need to put the vocals together and make it sound absolutely fantastic but I do have a question for you uh how is my audio how is the sync of my audio could you let me know in the comments if the audio you're hearing is matching to my voice let me know in the comments right now I'm going to do a quick clap for you as well this is a good test to test sync of audio if you could let me know if the audio is synced nicely in previous live streams the other week when I was doing a bit of testing we did have a little bit of an audio sync error and that was something I needed to tweak in orbs Studio that I'm using to live broadcast I think I've hit the sweet spot but if you could let me know if my audio is now in sync in the comments I would be very grateful for you because I am a perfectionist and I'm trying to get the live streams as good as possible for you oh so just let me know up there when you get a chance in the comments it's Perfecto thank you Eric um so good I think I've got the settings correct yeah I had to do I had to do something funky in orbs I'm offsetting my audio here by 200 milliseconds in orbs uh for it to match up with the uh the webcam there that records my face a bit out of sync says easy Neu Josh says two milliseconds pay the DJ says it's good it's good getting a lot of its goods up there now so uh uh still a bit slow says Daniel yes it's okay John uh it's a bit out of sync says Connie uh fraction out I'm gonna have to do more tweaking to get that Perfection uh I do use OBS Eric absolutely fraction of a second out on the YouTube live stream okay I'm gonna look into that a little bit more when I was running my tests earlier I thought I got it but um yeah some of you saying yes uh some of you uh not so certain that it's absolutely perfect so I'm going to do my best uh yeah it's confusing me yeah I use OBS OBS is brilliant live streaming absolutely just amazing it can do everything I want to and more I can't believe it's free I did used to use um a paid um version of the live streaming software you can get it's actually made by telestream they also make screenflow it's called wirecast I don't dislike wirecast I still like wirecast um but uh I kind of got frustrated where I couldn't stream in Stereo via wirecast no matter what I did so I thought oh what the heck OBS is open source it's free I'll just install it and as soon as I opened it up and started streaming everything was stereo so I don't know what's going on there but since I've moved to orbs I'm actually really happy with it so there you go um right uh let's go into vocals and uh Kim where are you Kim uh here are the vocals from Kim this is a simple drag and drop exercise oh don't want to bring in the backing track just the vocals we boom there we go okay so here are Kim's sung vocals and what I'm going to do is take down oh I've already done it I did it earlier that's that's very good of me the master volume down to -6 DB here they won't be stereo they will be eventually on YouTube if you're watching in Facebook sorry I'm just reading the comments above my head very funny some of them um if you're watching on Facebook Unfortunately they don't yet support stereo streaming so you'll never hear anything in Stereo on Facebook uh but YouTube it is stereo however these vocals will be mono have a listen [Music] I love the um I love the bam I might use that as a DJ drop bam yeah I could do uh I could kind of loop that round and use that for one of my sets next time I'm out DJing on uh a wonderful nightclub in ride on the Isle of Wight bam nice anyway I get fascinated by the jingles we make here at music radio creative into January Wing radio bam hey Eric yeah uh gosh cam twist is retro I remember using cam twist uh Josh dally says yeah Ops has lots of features it's uh hard to get your sync just right though isn't it I uh yeah I just can't get the the lay right uh secret plugin I'm not sure what you mean with that comment about secret plugins uh I don't have any secret plugins at the moment uh just lots of presets that I am hoping to share with you soon by the way uh right okay um oh I did already do a bit of panning on here but let's do a bit more panning on all the tracks so I'm panning uh left right left right left right left right left so we get a real stereo effect you'll hear this by the way if you're watching on youtube.com music radio creative you'll hear the real stereo impact to this oh excuse me intergenerational Wing radio bound hopefully you should hear that we've got all the different tracks uh vox1 Vox one double Vox one triple so that's the effect where you get it it's sounding like even though there's just actually just one singer there it sounds like there are like three or four singers uh vox2 double triple vox3 double triple Vox forward triple double mixed that one up didn't I uh Fox 5 double triple anyway it doesn't matter we're just uh making the voiceover stereo uh right I feel weird for doing audio production but not knowing why I do it uh yes the fire in your belly the passion just gotta keep going you gotta make something amazing that's that's the reason we do this because we just love geeking out about audio right I'm just gonna go in and pop in a few envelopes here into Jenner and listen individually to each track to generate generation and uh again I don't want any of these breaths here wing wing radio so I'm just going to shop this out there's many different ways you can do this but uh in the multi-track for now we'll do Wing radio and here make this nice oh bam oh bam bam oh bam oh bam it sounds very American doesn't it and actually our talented singer Kim even though she's Australian she can actually sing Sun Jingles which you can order by the way musicradiocreative.com uh in a variety of different accents she can do British Australian American I haven't tried anything else but uh just amazing her talent to switch between accents when singing that's a true Talent so this one sung in the American accent so okay loving these comments up here by the way keep them coming in let's do this reverie track really quickly now and now I've got the basic look of what I want uh boom boom boom boom boom just adding in envelopes I always love adding audio envelopes they're my favorite part of the day but after I do this I will get a nice clean sounding wonderful sung jingle here there we go oh I don't want to do that I want to do that okay intergeneration let's listen to it just these three tracks it's a generational music power Wing radio bam cool cool cool cool cool right um there are quicker ways to do this by the way I'm doing this a kind of manual way but um there are much quicker ways to do this one way would be to put all the tracks that you're doing this on onto a bus an audio bus and then just do it once on the audio bus but I'm doing it kind of for every track at the moment painting on audio envelopes to fade came in when she's needed there we go I can do that for the end like this a little Fade Out on each of those tracks and we're nearly there and then I'm going to mix it down pull it into the music track mix it with a music track make it sound good with the music track and then Master it finally so here we go pop that down there and that down there hopefully our finished product is just going to sound super smooth and super cool can get much faster at this just requires the practice and diligence of audio production discipline so like I say if you've just joined in I'm going to be doing a live stream like this every day at this time between 2PM and 3pm London time that's uh 10 a.m till 11 uh east coast of America it's uh six till seven West Coast it's around 11 to midnight in Sydney Australia and I plan to keep them in our maximum they may be shorter some days but an hour maximum so make sure to get it into your diary to get in for these live streams now you know there is a guaranteed time when I'm gonna be there Monday to Friday I really do hope that you can make and join me right then all the audio envelopes let's have a listen [Music] Wing radio there we go oh I missed the BAM sorry bam that's what I wanted right cool sounded good done the nice envelopes on that multi-track mixed down entire session boom okay fully mixed vocals now let's pop into my oh let's uh give that a name that I I'm gonna know what it is otherwise I'm going to get into trouble here aren't I uh sessions need to find the number that I'm working on now two one seven oh four seven okay and this is gonna be Kim vocals okay now I know exactly what that is into the uh multi-track session with the music bed and we'll do a rough mix we will do a rough mix thank you artem uh nayuku TV uh what's best to record The Voice in mono or stereo uh always mono if you're recording a microphone um that isn't stereo I would say I do have native resolution above 1080p I'm actually working in 5K it's wonderful working in 5K the best thing I did was buy a 27 inch iMac one of the best things hi to Josh Agnew as well up there in the comments thank you for joining in uh right let's just see how this sounds [Music] Wing radio oh what happened there that was strange not everything got mixed down okay I think that I think I know why sorry I did something really silly let's go back with vocals right what have we got here and why is it not sounding exactly right D trains bunk asking uh I think I only mixed down one track which was a bit silly of me mixed down entire session that'll be better uh time is 2 p.m London UK time so whatever time that is in your area of the world right let's get rid of uh the previous file I saved where is it Kim vocals yeah I want to get rid of that no I want to say that intergenerational music nice okay cool so Kim focals don't want to write yes I do okay oh good question Anthony well do I keep a written log and assign a number for each session yes we work on order numbers at music radio creative so um every order that comes in it gets assigned an order number and then from that point on everybody and I mean everybody works to that number I should do a workflow video at some point um but yeah absolutely from The Voice artist to the audio producer to the audio specialist that sends it out we all work in uh in this case 217047 language this is uh 217047 now I hate numbering things because no piece of audio production is a number it's an individual piece of art but um we have to organize somewhere right okay let's go back into the music track and uh where are we I'm getting all lost now Kim vocals okay Okay let's listen to this oh okay too loud let's put it somewhere else just a rough mix without any EQ or processing at the moment turn the music down [Music] ah sounds alright doesn't it what do you guys think let me know in the comments uh what you think about this let's Play It Again from here [Music] okay she sounds a bit louder on Wing radio that's because there are more tracks of her singing Wing radio so we definitely need to add a bit of Dynamics um let's go over here and um go into what I should really do silly to do it on a sound effects track let's just pop out a new track here I love it when you broadcast live and you suddenly forget where something really simple is it's like where's the new track feature I'm supposed to know Adobe Audition help no it's just I found it it's there stereo track because she's singing In Stereo [Music] and then I'm gonna have my magic let's go in and add some magic magic MRC magic this is probably going to be too loud and too scratchy bam bam boom yeah bam bam boom yeah whoa way too scratchy we're gonna need to tone that down a little bit uh let's turn the volume down [Music] yeah too scratchy two scratchy what happens let's just take each effect off to troubleshoot audio problems just turn effects off until you hear what you want to hear [Music] something else so the parametric EQ was making it a bit too scratchy I think the Dynamics processing might be a bit too harsh no maybe the speech volume leveler speech volume leveler was the guilty party so I'm gonna switch that off because that's more for Imaging I don't want to image Kim's voice [Music] all right we've gone rather flat let's switch the parametric EQ back on [Music] I'm just going to Loop this round a few times and play with the EQ so bear with me [Music] hopefully you notice the EQ changing there as I was working away on that bit I'm starting to get sound I'm happy with to generational music power Wing radio by the way these Jingles are available to buy at musicradiocreative.com uh you can go to Radio and then you can go to um now I need to remember where it is uh sung jingles in the instant download section and you can find all kinds of sun Jingles uh we've got uh plenty more in in different sections but there's a couple in there at the moment you can get year Jingles all kinds of stuff we have got more tracks than are listed on the site at the moment so maybe if you're looking for something either custom we do custom stuff or we do templated stuff that we've made before just ask if if you want to like you can see if you want a jingle that sounds like the 1950s we got it and we got it in stock and if we don't have it in stock we'll make it for you okay [Music] okay I think we're doing good on the Dynamics too [Music] okay you know what I'm gonna do because I don't think we're that good on the Dynamics I'm going to do a cheeky little Dynamics in The waveform View I love the fact it's pink because I'm working on a pink track in the multi-track let's just see what we can do here Dynamics processing we'll have a play using preview here okay that's all we want to mirror let's mirror right so what I'm concerned about I'll show you what I'm concerned about let's go to the default compressor I'm concerned that uh it's just the wing radio is a bit louder than the intergenerational music power and the BAM and the BAM kind of makes it so uh yes Gallo Darren Altman is still in the MRC house we love Darren heltman uh or Darren Altman I should say Altman I'm thinking of out from the keyboard Darren Altman uh thank you for asking yes he's a fantastic fine voice over talent in fact uh let's uh hop over to musicradiocreative.com browse voices and we'll have a little look here for uh Darren there he is Dara and Dara and let's have a listen to Darren while I play with some Dynamics processing I'm here at Buckingham Palace but I'm always logged into JJ's guy like David in the mix hello the light is coming the power of music live music DJ's night around you feel the sound get ready ladies and gentlemen welcome and get together on Hope Nation radio chica musica back to back room for space live ladies and gentlemen presenting for one night only at the Shire London Michael's long-lost sister Davina Lee you are listening to Jimmy L dimmy L there we go and I'm sure the demo goes on for a long time so I went to play it all to you but Darren yeah available right there on the website uh talented British voice artist and impressionist as well and not a bad Jazz drummer either you're absolutely right about that so let's apply that processing now intergeneration National Music power Wing radio bam okay we're feeling good with that so uh let's have a listenerational music Wing radio bam right to keep these uh live streams to exactly an hour for you I'm going to mix down and start the mastering process can't guarantee I'll finish it uh by the time the hour slots but what I want it to be every day is a nice tight one hour between 2 p.m and 3 P.M Monday to Friday UK time I will be here and I won't take any more of your time than an hour so we've got three minutes left to have a quick play with mastering on this music track [Music] and actually what I might do is add a bit of Reverb to uh Kim's voice as well so let me go in and do that now Studio Reverb and solo that's the Reverb only intergenerational intergenerational music Wing radio bam too much uh bam hi Otis from Zimbabwe nice to see you up there in the comments hmm nice okay I like that multi-track mix down again quick bit of mastering we won't uh entirely get into the effect but we'll we'll do as much as we can before we disappear uh so effects special masked ring oh that was my old preset wasn't it back to default and I'm going to Loop it round and I'm just going to add on some mastering effects very quickly for you and then I'll do it in more detail when I finish the stream before we Center the client [Music] radio [Music] bam generational music bam generational music bam [Music] bam the generational music Wing radio bam the generational music Wing radio bam the generational music okay I will leave you with this uh have a listen see what you think this has been uh mastered I'm gonna go back and do some more but for today that's it I'll see you tomorrow same time 2PM UK time and thank you for tuning in to this live stream mastering audio mastering with myself Mike Russell [Music] oh [Music] [Music] Wing radio [Music]
