hi there my name's Pete I'm a gin expert and I'm going to show you today how to make the exquisite martini rocks cocktail we're going to need some Bombay Sapphire it's a martini extra dry and some rosemary sugar syrup if you're wondering how we make our rosemary sugar syrup really simple stuff couple of sprigs of fresh rosemary chuck them in in a pan of water and then you want to put in twice as much sugar as you used water into your pan as well heat that whole thing up don't let it boil just bring it up to a little bit of heat mix it all in together and you'll dissolve all that sugar and get a lovely infused rosemary sugar syrup so the way we do this going to need a mixing glass and a bar spoon we start off with our Bombay Sapphire and I'm going to use 50 milliliters of Bombay Sapphire and that goes just like that then I want to use my martini extra dry and I want 15 milliliters of the extra dry straight into our mixing glass then finally that rosemary infused sugar syrup so this is where we really get created with our martini rocks so we want 10 milliliters of that straight in we go give the drink a little bit of sweetness but really interesting rosemary flavor as well it's gorgeous once we've done that grab yourself some ice fill up your mixing glass pop your spoon down into a mixing glass give the whole thing a nice stir just like that you want to stir for about 25-30 seconds in that time you'll have mixed all the ingredients together your chilled them all down nicely we've added a little bit of dilution from your ice as well just to bring out all those wonderful flavors that looks beautiful just like that once you've got that all stirred up grab yourself a rocks glass or a tumbler phillup now we like to activate our eyes here so what that means you stir it round your glass cause you're chilling down your glass this way but you're also getting rid of the exterior of the ice which is the bit that's going to melt first when you pop the rest of your cocktail in and so if we can get rid of that before we add any of our ingredients just place your strainer over the top ear then we can strain off that excess water put your Hawthorne strainer over the top of your mixing glass pour that liquid over the ice and so this is how we get a martini rocks because it's over the ice finally you just want to garnish that nice and simply with a green olive so when you're getting your olive out of your jar or whatever don't worry you get a little bit of the brine with that because when you add the brine into your drink it's just going to accentuate all the flavors amplify them give you beautiful gorgeous flavors and aromas coming out of your cocktail and getting olive in there which is always tasty so that's our martini rocks it's a lovely looking cocktail lovely aromas to it too really uplifting of that rosemary coming through nice and strong and accentuate some of those pine notes in the Bombay Sapphire tastes delightful you've got a sweetness to it from the rosemary sugar syrup but then you've got that routine us coming through from the martini extra dry as well Cheers
