[Applause] so ladies and gentlemen the newlyweds mr. and mrs. Sylvester Stewart [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] this is the most conservatively dressed I've ever seen you to be close two weeks you've been married I mean how do you feel now after that I they said that Sinatra coming out of retirement would be the biggest thing that happened in show business this year but I mean your wedding just eclipsed that it was incredible it was it was it was a feel still enjoy you're still all right how in the world that you did you plan a wedding in Madison Square Garden I mean usually people have a little you know like a little over some place a little garden with some tulips and some roses and about 20 close friends I mean 23,000 close friends is quiet yeah this is traffic Gonza that's fun though I mean Hodgins what's the idea Steve Bailey it was the best man and Joe EULA was the arranger of all the pretty things you know so New York yeah and so we just kind of enjoyed it and shared a lot of friends that sometimes people are not aware of the friends that they really have you know how do you feel about the vibrations there that night I felt like we had 23,000 he's been there he's filled the place eleven times already but that must have been some experience for you Kathy when when you saw it when you dreamed and your day dreamed about being married did you ever in your wildest imaginations ever have a picture like what your actual wedding turned out to be not at all no it was completely you know it was beautiful I was a header I dug it I described it I came out and behind me were 11 of the most beautiful black chicks in America holding golden palm fronds and then you came out in your 3d I was lost in secret it's really it's really a trip how'd you feel out on stage there it was everybody was so happy that it just I was along through and I wasn't you know I thought I was really gonna be nervous but as soon as I got out there people were just throwing gold confetti and lighting matches and everybody was just so happy then it was just a happy event you know everybody why did you decide to get married now you've been together for what about a year now yeah so what what made you decide to make it official mainly the society in which we live and the people that are affected by that are you talking about little Sylvester Wells mainly it was Sylvester and how I'll never know he's had too much it whether you know the number of other people think it if you don't get married you're not really serious so they kind of come down hard on the lady involved and the guy involved if he's not a man you know one can't say he's not a man but if he's not kind of strong you know they try to make you feel like you're kind of kidding around but I thought maybe the baby would let him know that I ain't kidding around what about your parents I mean they haven't had much exposure to kind of the world of show business they must have their mother and you are a piece of furniture in soil and green so you really have a distinguished acting background you had a reputation I think it's passing now for not showing up to your gigs and stuff but in the two years that I've known you you never missed one and people really don't know about all the work you did like you came on our benefit concert for the mentally you came you perform for nothing and one of the reason is it's big they're love they're not a lot of people like you that are responsible for those kind of things so on some other occasions I'm not sorry that I missed for the people that were in charge sorry that I missed for the people that were supposed to have been the best fishie Aires I guess you call them you know I mean sure but they're not always so cool you know what I mean no but you know I wouldn't even be here man why you I'm here well thank you I think what's changed in your life has has Kathy really like set Y on the straight and narrow path now what is it what's what's new I mean you you are the most together cat in the music business right now and I don't think that was always the case well what's new that's you know Kathleen's baby and then other people you meet on account of something like that but as far as straight and narrow I don't know how straight and narrow I am in relation to a last year the year before are you gonna be a traditional husband you know like not a mr. worth it I don't what do you mean I mean I mean within the limits of your business of course they're gonna be monogamous and within that within the limits of my own frame of mind and my own conscious but not within the limits of things that I read about traditional husband's like what your aunt like what what about what you read like this over here yeah okay for an expression I'll say like like a Dick Van Dyke style husband I don't mean take that I don't know that man they say very nice but you know I want to show films of the wedding ceremony the people who weren't there they they just really have to see we filmed the ceremony complete with the 3d sequined outfits matching outfits for the bride and groom it was an elaborate wedding party as you might imagine the 23000 invited guests and we also filmed the reception after that which was a much more intimate affair there are only 500 people there you can see that when goodnight America continues right after this [Applause] [Music] I think I'd better set the stage rather for the ceremony of your breath to see because even though most people at home have been to one or more weddings in their lifetimes you've probably never seen anything like this first of all Madison Square Garden as we said was packed to the rafters now the arena holds about 20,000 people if you really stuff them in that was filled the whole backstage area was filled all along the stage was filled so they figured that altogether there were 23,000 cheering clapping foot stomping fans then mrs. Stewart sli's mother came out on stage and announced that it was going to be a sacred ceremony but everybody in the audience was so high either emotionally or through so some undisclosed artificial means they just sit up and gave mrs. Stewart a standing ovation and there were there are plenty of standing ovations that night then the ceremony started and as I said before I got drafted as a head usher I'm very proud to say anyway this is what the family affair looked like and Cathy hasn't seen it before so you could just watch it right over there [Music] [Applause] we are gathered together here tonight in the sight of God and in the face of this company to join together this man and this woman [Music] [Applause] [Laughter] [Applause] between us with this may not be with me those are put together let no man put asunder Snipes go so that's the Stewart and Cathy silver have consented in holy wedlock and have witnessed the same before God and this company there to have pledged their faith each to the other by giving and receiving a ring and by joining their hands together as a minister of the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by the power that is invested in me I pronounce that they are husband and wife of the name [Applause] this is this is the reception afterwards with 500 people were dancing away and yeah look at the world oh yeah and you filled the reception where you like you think a traditional bride just kind of exhausted emotionally when you were there you know so with it was did you ever think that it was gonna turn out to be such a social occasion with so many yeah I never thought there is a jitterbug gonna wait till our father Andy Warhol was there chip monsters there I'd go in there yes so hard to see them gonna love now betray God I can't even remember that's Diane Von Furstenburg kanessa this is sunshine they call it's the one that always gets up and takes her clothes off and dances at Woodstock and all Danielle Luna was there she's a beautiful beautiful black model she wishes she just danced her head off or something off [Music] see I I started to get a little weathered at this time you up in the balcony watching all the festivities did you ever get your second win there look at them though they would dance it away at something I've never seen more photographers in one place I've never seen more movie crews you know TV crews in one place you knock Watergate right off page one he has a large family of his all related to how many no families like five kids you are probably just the change of subject just a half an inch the most innovative musician on the rock scene you know your records are you know the last album was called fresh but it really was fresh and the whole the whole concept the whole approach to the music you know what is the philosophy that you using you know there's so many people you know ISO Kenny Kenny Roberts your your manager now and he said that the only old musician that you ever really listened to is Ray Charles and everything else you just thought up yourself and so many people copy you and take from you in your music you know what's the secret well I think the words of the music are more than almost all the time I think maybe all the time indicative of the life that I live so it's the truth so and you can't really get around to people when they hear the truth if you live on I feel find out whether you're telling the truth but whether you Jack that's right you know what I mean so all the songs that I've ever recorded like I listen to them I like listening to them because they relate to the way that I lived and the way that I live now and plan to live in the future it's the truth you know your wedding was the truth and people are reacting to you now at a different level than they did before how do you what do you think about that good you know that's good there really is different because you get tired of being accused of being late man when you meet know about it let me a lot of those things get get the new things take place a new people have new ideas and find out new things about you and you feel like you're being treated according to she both really the greatest happiness long life and all those other things your schmaltzy things you wish married people that you did you know just really thank you for coming on [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
