Marlin Model 60 Review Too much FUN

[Applause] sup guys there was some shooting today with the marlin model 60 and you can see this one doesn't look like your average Marlin I guess you can say it still looks like a Marlin model 60 but uh this is a very nice little rifle a lot of guys overlooked in Marlin model 60 just because it is tube fed and you have to load it with the with a tube there instead of magazine fit which to me it's not really a big deal this is a deadly squirrel gun very accurate michael rifling this is a very nice barrel nice meaty barrel again with the micro act accurate okay with them micro rifling makes this a very accurate rifle which I will demonstrate here soon but we're gonna do some shooting today with it and I just want to bring it out because a lot of people don't really represent the Marlin like it should be it is a very nice rifle and not everything has to be tactical and mag fed but let's have some fun got three sodas out there at about 35 yards it's my first shots of the day so let's get to warm it up the Marlar model 60 is a very accurate microgroove rifling little barrel and again just taking your time out there just popping some cans shooting some sticks but there is a little hyper side the marlin model 60 it does beg to be shot pretty quick and it lets you do it every time yeah this is one of the one of the things I really like about the marlin model 60 is it's almost featureless sleek slim design makes it really easy to carry through the woods nothing to get in your way especially if you don't put a scope on it or anything like that these iron sights on this stainless model is a little bit different from the the blued model and they pick up really well there's almost no real need for a scope on this gun I like to refer to the malam model 60 as a just kind of a vacation from tactical pretty much and that's what you're getting with this gun you're stepping completely away from everything that is tactical but a great little gun fun to plink with [Applause] it does feature a last round bolt hold-open as you can see there but you cannot just slingshot it back home they have this button on the bottom here which you just push down sends the bolt home and you're ready for the next the next round downrange now they do have this little feature here I guess maybe for just quick cleaning stuff like that when the last round goes through it only holds open that much now you can also pull the bolt handle outward back and push it in and you can get a little bit more room in there I guess maybe to clear jams or some light cleaning and stuff like that but kind of a nice feature never once used it but that's what it comes with and to get that to close forward basically just pull your handle out it goes back into the bolt to hold open position and then you close your bolt with the button on the bottom folks just don't represent the modern model 60 as it should be here on YouTube it is just as timeless as any lever action single shot shotgun or rifle it's just a fun take your time kind of gun and if you really want to you can throw all that ammo downrange as fast as you can pull the trigger still it's an excellent lightweight very handy little rifle I mean the profile of this thing is just about as straight as a stick you know you got a very minimal grip here but for some reason when you shoulder it it feels great even though the grip isn't extended or exaggerated or anything like that very minimalistic little rifle and this I believe is why it has continued to sell in the 22lr rifle market now getting back to the tube magazine here there's a few different ways to load this and one you can see there it has a little slot there to drop the rounds in one by one there's different ways of loading it itself different types of ammo holders I tend to use this little catch-22 here it's a 50-round capacity test little individual chambers in there I did a video on this and then basically just hold it up to the magazine tube and drop in five at a time it's really out of course isn't the most tactical reload that you can think of but then again not everything has to be tactical this is just a timeless piece in my opinion and it serves its purpose for what it is and it's just so much fun to get out and shoot with it you know just walking around the woods and taking your time and blinking at whatever might get in your way and I got 10 rounds in there holds 15 now once you get done loading the magazine you can see in there I don't know if you can or not my bullets are in there you can't just slingshot it home and you can't just press the button to have it pick up around what you have to do is close the button or a closed bullet with that button and come back and actually rack the round into the chamber and you're ready to rock now as much as I like to say this gun really urges you to take your time with it there's just still something about it that makes it so much fun to just blow through all that ammo any 22lr it's just so much fun of course this one is no exception it's also got this little crossbolt safety you can see here behind the trigger there and about this trigger this is actually not the factory trigger that the marlin model sixties come with this is actually aftermarket by D IP which I did a slight video on this while back but they come stock with a polymer trigger guard and polymer trigger which is not the best trigger in the world as far as shooting for accuracy goes that is your major downfall of the marlin model 60 in my opinion but there are aftermarket companies like di PE that do make nice products for the Marlin model sixties such as this right here which lighten the trigger pull a lot this is a much flatter face trigger as well but if you're gonna do anything to your Marlin model sixty I would suggest replacing that trigger and/or trigger guard a much nicer all-metal trigger and it just adds completely to the look of the rifle they also sell these in the black as well to match your blue model sixties but other than that the Marlin model 60 is such a fun little gun to plink with you know obviously you can tell I hear anything 22lr out there in the woods it's just fun to just go to town with but again getting away from tactical this is a just a great little gun to have and they're typically pretty cheap to own and shoot [Applause] gonna be cheap affordable and a lot of fun 22lr semi-automatic either beater gun or a little project like I have here where can you go wrong with that anyway I hope you guys enjoyed this video hope
