Mark 5:21-34 "A Faith that Never Fails"

good morning First Baptist Carrollton I have this oh there we go I hear some sound now there it is can y'all hear me now that's good I was pulling up this morning and the sign pointed to the guest parking and it said first-time guest this is my third time here but I still parked there so don't have me told I couldn't find a third time guest parking spot so I still I still I still parked there but I'm glad to be here I love I love worshiping with First Baptist Carrollton but last time we were here my wife was pregnant and so we now bring the fruit of her womb with us that's what you baby so the the third part of our family her name is Victoria yeah we're pointing at you Victoria my name is Victoria grace and now I can announce to y'all that my wife is pregnant again and it is mine so we're excited about that so the last two times we've been here she's been pregnant so do not invite us back because I don't want any I just can't do it anymore I just just can't do it any better but we're excited we're excited my wife now does she she has she's thinking for herself and the baby so we rushed out of the house this morning and forgot Victoria shoo so she now looks like she's getting ready to run through the blue blue bonnets after church but we simply forgot her shoes her ankles are not swollen or anything like that we just forgot we just forgot her shoes so so when y'all come up and see her and walk away - more like they put baby don't have any shoes we forgot her shoes so we forgot her shoes but she has shoes so please don't mail meat boxes of shoes saying we notice your baby did not have any shoes so do not mail the shoe but you can mail me something no I take size 13 I take I take shoes all day long so let's go to God in prayer eternal God our Father we love you we thank you we worship you we praise you for an opportunity to gather together with fellow believers it's it's been a long week on Monday was long twos it was long wins it was long thirst it was long fried it was long said it was long in we finally made it to Sunday and God we thank you for that thank you for the opportunity there God to open your word and to hear you speak to us for these that before we speak to you that we need to hear you speak to us so god I pray that you would speak today use me as your vessel ha me behind your cross so that it's not me who's heard of singing but if your word it's your voice in Jesus name we pray amen so Brent did tell me that he finished preaching a series about Jesus which is a good subject the last few weeks and he's getting ready to prepare to start talking about Moses so he told me I can't talk about Jesus nor can I talk about Moses so if you would turn to the back of your Bible to the map section I'll be preaching from the maps because you I can't talk about Jesus or Moses that leaves the boundary maps at the back of your Bible but I will be talking to you about Jesus today that's talking about Jesus from the subject that faith never fails faith never fails of faith in Jesus never fails and in Mark chapter 5 we find a familiar story that we've heard we've stayed and we've we've heard preached and we've read several times but I just want to take some time to walk with you through this passage of Scripture mark chapter 5 about the woman with the issue of blood and it says in mark chapter 5 beginning it with verse 25 it says a woman who had a hemorrhage for twelve years and had endured much at the hands of many physicians and spent all that she had was not helped at all but rather had grown worse after hearing about Jesus she came up in a crowd behind him and touched his cloak for she thought if I just touch his garments I will get well immediately the flow of her blood was dried up and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction immediately Jesus perceiving in himself that the power proceeding from him had gone forth turned around in the crowd and said who touched my garments and his disciples said him you see the crowd pressing in on you and you say who touched me and he looked around to see the woman who had done this but the woman fearing and trembling aware of what happened to her came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth and he said to her daughter your faith has made you well go in peace and be healed of your affliction this woman had a faith in Jesus that made a difference but before she came to Jesus the Bible is specific and saying that she had suffered for a long time matter of fact it gives us the timeframe that she had suffered for 12 years with a particular issue the Bible says that she had endured much at the hands of many physicians attempting to get healed of this ailment she she went to the doctors I'm sure she went to friends she she went to family members she used her finances she she talked to people in the community all trying to make a situation get better but every time she tried to make this situation get better the Bible simply says it got worse and I'm sure many of us in here we can contest to the fact that we've had some situations and we had some issues in our lives that the more we tried to handle it on our own it got worse it's like the dog that was in the back yard and he was he was on a chain and he just kept going wrapping himself around the tree and the more he tried to get untangled the more he tried to get unwrapped around a tree he got more wrapped around the tree but the more he tried to get untangled the more tangled up he got and it's the same way with us sometimes we find ourselves in relationships we find ourselves in jobs we find ourselves in family matters we find ourselves with children that the more we try to handle the situation the worse it gets the Bible says that that she endured much at the hands of many physicians she had people practicing on her and she still could not get well how many of you have had people practicing on you and you're still in the same condition you practice by reading a book about the situation and it's still not working you practice by talking to a friend about it and it's still getting worse you practice by talking to parents you you practice by by going to counsel no you practice by going to a doctor but the situation just gets worse the Bible says that she endured these things but as she do with these things it kept getting worse but here's the good news the Bible says in verse 2 what he said it that she heard about Jesus she heard about Jesus Jesus had just got back in town if you read the whole chapter of Mark chapter 5 he he had just come from across the Sea of Galilee casting out demons and a demoniac and he tried to go into the town to to preach there but they told him you made all our pork go off the off the cliff so we have no more bacon no more pork chops I don't care where are you going but you can't stay here so they kicked Jesus out of the town because there was a drought on bacon so Jesus get back in a boat come back to his hometown of Capernaum and when he gets back to town a crowd of people say there he is Jesus is back in town he's he's moving through a crowd and as he's moving through the crowd Jerry is the preacher Jerry's comes up to me say Jesus Jesus Jesus before you go anywhere I have a I have a daughter she's sick I need you to save my daughter she's on her deathbed Jesus can't you just come by my house and and touch my daughter Jesus follows after Jerry he said yeah let's go let's go where you stay Jesus follows after James but in the middle of Jesus going to Jerry is's house this woman comes up behind him because she had heard about Jesus I think it's important for us as believers to make sure that people hear about Jesus because something had been said to her something she had seen she heard that there was a prophet and his name was Jesus and he could make a difference she had tried everything else she had tried everyone else but she had gotten down to her last dime she was at the end of her rope and she heard about Jesus I'm sure many of us can testify there we didn't try Jesus until we got down to our last dime we didn't try Jesus until we were at our wits end we didn't try Jesus until until crisis had hit but it doesn't matter what you try on somebody had told you about him in the Bible says heard about Jesus my brothers and sisters in Christ the First Baptist character make sure you letting people hear about Jesus they might not get saved will you talk about him they they might not give their life to him right there but you make sure people hear about Jesus because a point in time will come in their life when they're going to need Jesus and they're gonna remember I heard about a man you make sure that that you tell people about Jesus Christ but the fact of the matter is she heard about Jesus but what she heard about Jesus is that he can make a difference because he could make a difference I want to go to the man that could make a difference but she heard she heard the Bible says she heard about Jesus she came up in a crowd behind him and touched his cloak I want to make something clear here because a lot of people hear about Jesus but it's not they hearing about Jesus that makes a difference but it's they hearing about Jesus that moves us to action the Bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God so her faith had grown because she had heard about Jesus but her faith was not seen until she moved closer to Jesus we could hear about Jesus all day long but if what we're hearing about Jesus is not moving us into some action if it's not moving us to get closer to him hearing is not going to do us any good matter of fact the Bible says in Hebrews chapter 4 verse 12 verse 2 rather it says that the good news that the Israelites had preached is being preached to us he says the Bible says but it did not profit them because what they heard was not United with faith so my brothers and sisters make sure whatever you are hearing about Jesus that you combine what you hear with some faith because when you mix what you hear was so faith then you have a faith that makes a difference the woman heard about Jesus and what she heard and pushed her to get closer to Jesus and what she did she she she did set up an appointment she didn't go up to him like Jarius and said jesus healed me she just simply thought to herself the Bible said if I just touch it's close I will be healed she had to faith in the and the understanding to know that this man is so powerful that if I just get close enough to touch him I will be healed verse 28 says she thought if I just touch his garments I will get well if I can just never remember Jesus is in the crowd he's he's rushing with Jarius he's he's trying to get to Jerry's his house to heal his daughter and a lot of people all around Jesus it's a crowd of people around him but only one person experienced the power of Jesus Christ because only one person was around him in faith and that was this woman who had an issue of blood you can be around Jesus all your life you can be around a church all your life but if we're not around Jesus if we're not around a church with faith it's makes no difference this one that was in a crowd hundreds of people around Jesus hundreds of people with illness hundreds of people with problems hundreds of people with issues but only one woman got delivers because that one woman came to Jesus with some faith and if you want to see a difference in your life all you have to do is just how faith in Jesus right she touches either keep saying hey makers you the only one if there's anybody anybody else she touched His garment and the Bible says that immediately the floor blood was dried up and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction I like how mark makes it clear that she was immediately healed I don't want us to miss that because every time we have faith in Jesus and we move according to his word God immediately goes to work your circumstance might not change right then the consequences might still be there but the moment you adjust your life to the Word of God God immediately goes to work when God is present in your situation your situation may not change but the person in control of the situation can change the situation so don't the fact well you have faith in Jesus the situation automatically gets better when God is involved my baby is 18 months old and did I get it right is that how she is 18 months old I used to say 18 months years old but now she's 18 months old and when I come home she always runs to me with our arms up I pick her up and put her in my arms and sure enough a mama comes around the corner and says mm hm she in trouble she's in trouble she holds on to me tighter because she knows she's she's gonna get it from her mother but you know what made a difference for my daughters that her daddy was home my presence made a difference for her it immediately whenever we decide to adjust our lives to the Word of God God immediately goes word the Bible says that the the eyes of God go to and fro throughout the earth seeking those whose heart so completely his so that he can strongly support him God is looking for somebody to look up God is looking for somebody to come I got to stay on them but God is looking for somebody to support strongly support when you have faith in the Word of God it is seen when you adjust your life to his word and God immediately goes to work my question for you is is what are you dealing with what's the issue what's the problem that you've thrown money yeah you've thrown finances that you're at your wits in my brothers and sisters I dare you to see what God has to say about it I dare you to see what the Word of God has to say about and you just your life to the word if if it's your marriage adjust your marriage to the word official children adjust your rearing of your child to your word if it's a job situation adjust your job situation to the Word of God and when you adjust your life to the Word of God you're showing your faith in God and immediately stuff starts to happen when God gets involved so first 30 it says immediately that Jesus perceiving in himself that power had gone forth he turned around in the crowd and said I like King James Burton Jean King James and said who touched me like like Jesus had attitude like he was a who touch me this is a new robe I just got this from from Neiman Marcus who touching me on my clothes that's not what he said but I'm just saying that that reads a little bit like that but Jesus says who touched my garments now he didn't ask the question because he did not know he knew who had touched him but the reason why he asked the question is because he was getting ready to teach the crowd a lesson and the lesson that he wanted to teach the crowd was all of y'all go around me touching me but only one person is getting to live but a lot of y'all go around me speaking to me think you know me but only one person is seen delivers in their life a lot of y'all around me talkin to me asking me questions but only one person is seeing the difference in their life so Jesus stopped a crowd and said who touched me with faith because he's getting ready to teach a lesson that it takes more than just being around Jesus to see a difference it takes more than just being in church to see a difference but when you come to church or when you come to Jesus will you come to the word you've got to come with some faith and that faith should be driving us to some action so Jesus are getting ready to teach the crowd who touched me with faith because he wants everybody to know just because you're walking around me doesn't mean you can be delivered and the sad thing about it a lot of a lot of people have been around Jesus a long time and still have not been delivered a lot of people have been hanging with Jesus and hanging with the church and hanging with sunny school and still got the same issues still got the same problems but there's one woman teaches us something that when you come to Jesus come to him believe it that he can make a difference the Bible says that Jesus Jesus turned around in the crowd and said who touched me and and and and and Matthew says a Peter spoke up and if you read the same story Matthew Peter spoke up and saying that Jesus you see how they folk around you everybody everybody touching you but Jesus wanted to make something clay say no no somebody touched me with faith and let me pause right there for a second to help you understand something that you already know but just to rehearse this for you when you come to Jesus with faith the moment that you have faith in Jesus you can surpass everybody else that's in the crowd the moment that you choose to adjust your life to Christ the moment that you choose to adjust your life to the word you'll surpass a lot of people that are in a crowd with Jesus been in a crowd with him for years and they don't see any difference the moment you decide that you're gonna do it God's Way you surpass them in your maturity all these people have been walking with Jesus but only one person I saw a difference in and I want to encourage my young brothers and sisters in Christ the youth better hear this I saw two young ladies in by me anymore anymore anymore I'm just talking up I just want to encourage y'all that just want to encourage the youth that when you decide to do it God's Way you're surpassed everybody else in the crowd with your experiences because you decided to do it God's Way Peter says the Bible says that people says a lot of people around you touching you verse 32 goes on to say he looked around to see a woman who had done Jesus already knew who had touched him Jesus knew who had been healed Jesus knew who had experienced the delivers in her life but I like I like this right here it says and he looked around to see the woman what an intimate portrait of taking time to look at you when you decide to adjust your life to God's Word to to do it his way we will you decide to have faith that makes a difference of faith that drives you based on what you hear in the Word of God when you decide to have a faith that's really gonna make a difference God just stops and looks at you and say I see you I see you because you decided to touch me with faith but the woman was scared she was trembling aware what had happened to her she came fell down before him and told him the whole truth my brothers and sisters in Christ I think some of us need to take the lead of this woman and get in tell Jesus the whole truth the reason why some of us are having issues with adjusting to God and adjusting to his word is because we think that we're hiding things from God we think that God doesn't know also we don't tell him the whole truth but this woman relayed the whole truth Jesus I'll try Jesus I tried I used all my resources I went to the physicians I I went to the church I went to my brothers and my sisters and they could not help she told the whole truth some of us need to have a truth-telling session with Jesus and just let them know the whole truth the reason why we need to tell the whole truth is because the Bible simply says that God is near to those who are broken and contrite you know when you when you're broken when you when you when you're broken God says I'm close to you some of us need to tell the whole truth because that's where I'm broken this would happen when we finally just say God I did Lord I'm sorry I can't handle it no more you know what he says I'm close to that I'm close to you when you're broken she tells she tells Jesus the whole truth and I'm almost sure you didn't tell me how long I had I can go for an hour but I'm he said to her daughter your faith has made you well go in peace and be healed of your affliction but I want y'all to see something real quick a little Bible study here in verse 34 she leaves healed and in peace but in verse 26 she came having endured a lot at the hands of physicians and had grown worse follow me in verse 26 she came tired she came wore out but in verse 34 she left revived she left healed the point I want you to see is that when we bring it to Jesus he gives us a good exchange the Bible says he gives beauty for Ashes he gives strength for fear laughter for mourning peace for despair Jesus can exchange it when you bring it to him if you bring them your problems if you bring them your pain jesus says peace I give unto you not like the world gives but peace I give Jesus can exchange your situation he can exchange your problems with his peace he said come unto me all you who are weary and heavy-laden and Greek that means the whole time he says come unto me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you he can exchange it when you bring it to him and faith the woman who had came who had endured she had she had she had endured much pain she had and do it much sacrifice on her own behalf but after meeting Jesus she left healed in with peace I don't know what you're dealing with I don't know what your situation is but I do know Jesus and if you like this woman bring it to Jesus he can exchange it for peace peace that passes all understanding but you might be saved but Ernest Serna I'm still I brought it to Jesus and I'm I'm still in this situation I still got problems going on I still sick III don't understand what you mean I'm a how pizza or immediately a difference is gonna be made the difference is you know who's in control now you know who's in control y'all remember Shadrach Meshach and Abednego I mean in Abednego they was at the it was in the fiery furnace and and they were standing there and they said to Nebuchadnezzar they said never Condesa we know God can deliver us we just let's make let's make make one thing clear we know he can't deliver us but even if he don't we still gonna trust him so of course he kicks them into the furnace hey y'all know the story God shows up will you trust and believe God shows up and his presence alone makes a difference in a situation and that's a faith that never fails let's pray
