Mansa Musa - The Richest Man Who Ever Lived (Civ 6) - Pt. 1

all right hello everybody and welcome to the next Sid Meier Civilization six let's play this time featuring Mr Mansa Musa so before we get into our settings Mansa Musa he is just an economic Powerhouse at one point in time he was known as the richest man in the world probably ever according to addressing for inflation for today he was so rich that on his pilgrimage he tanked the economies of other countries like Egypt just by spending so much gold on his way through their cities he just had so much of it to mimic that and sieve he gets plus one gold trade routes game plus one gold for every flat desert tile in the origin City so you could settle a city in the middle of nowhere build a Petra and then just send money to everywhere getting gold he gains faith and food for each Jason desert tile for their City centers so they can grow really fast in those desert areas mines receive one less production for gold and that's the conversion between gold to production for building units and building buildings you may also purchase commercial hub District buildings with faith but you have less production towards buildings and units so it's a bit of a trade-off from there we have the saguba unique commercial hub you can buy buildings with faith as well as gold as well as our 20 cheaper so it's going to be kind of just buying things instead of building things they have unique placement requirements plus two for addition to a holy site plus two for a river plus one for each two districts they have a unique night replacement that gains gold for victories I'm going to check out our settings we're going to have uh Pangea standard DD difficulty standard Map size standard city-states disasters we're going to put hot and arid in there to give ourselves a little bit more desert we're going to give ourselves abundant resources it might be a little bit more fun if there's plain deserts we'll have a little bit more to play with hopefully a little bit more iron and we're going to put her not Barb Clans on we're going to be turning no barbs on and the reason for that is we get 30 percent less production towards units which means if a Barb Camp fights you that's 30 less chance to defend yourself and that is really annoying especially since uh kind of got murked by Barb's last time in Scotland playthrough uh maybe this time there'll be less Barb so we put no barbs on instead of this but hmm you don't get a lot of production as Molly so is this not worth it just to get the productive tiles that I would otherwise be lacking two very good tiles but I don't get the growth bonus for being Molly I think it's more fun to settle the deserts so let's just see how the desert looks a little run out there okay hmm so the bad news about sibling here is we literally have zero production I think that could be a disaster oh we have a lot of production up there but it's already a turn three subtle so I'm going to settle one South I get better Tiles at least and basically we just want production as much as we can uh one two three we basically missed all good tiles which really sucks I'm gonna try and get a scout we grow so fast we're gonna have so much faith maybe our Pantheon can help us potentially you are going to want astrology if we somehow build the holy sites we are gonna go for work ethic work ethic is really nice since it gives you the production for your adjacency bonus and if we get the desert folklore which will be plus six holy sites everywhere in this area Bender Brunei has given us more gold that is nice we will take that the nice part about having no barbs is that we can be a little bit more free with our starting Warrior and stuff we don't have to worry as much free Recon unit is nice again 30 percent more production required to build these things oh and that's a natural wonder over there boosting astrology so maybe I should have ran this way but and this might be patati which I think is the best the best Wonder in the game hidden yeah patatius wildness like on mind go so the bonuses for this Wonder are plus three gold plus two culture on adjacent tiles which first of all is already amazing secondly trade routes get plus four gold for outgoing trade routes so probably I'm going to settle right here we are going to queue straight up into that settler and that was honestly a huge find that's probably the biggest win we could have after this the only thing we need is to actually get our religion and then we are pretty much on our way to do whatever we want as Molly which I think is going to be a timing push maybe on somebody monuments Builder so I could get builders for mines mine these two resources maybe that might give me something at least Mogadishu okay he's not giving me money I'm getting signs from nalanda what do I want as my next one probably Pottery if I farm something like the irrigation boost that'd be fun at least Scout was available for promotion I should probably promote him soon let him run a little bit faster on all of these terrains it is not wisdom I'm gonna get uh hmm Hill promotion I made an errats there's probably fewer than normal Woodlands or Hills and found the only one here that's kind of insane well we'll see I probably don't want to crush any of those tiles either let's see how we do let's get foreign trade we might okay well let's get foreign trade I think we're gonna grow a super tall Empire either way oops no barbs so we don't need the Barbers we have a Pantheon we don't need God King production is King for us let's get that production going I think again we're gonna have to buy a builder just to get any production out of these tiles right that's just a or anything okay that's the foreign trade boosted that's Singapore no production a little annoying but we could also even do something like settling here or well we're trying to see if we get maybe three cities on patati but we'll see we'll see how that works I was gonna try and do play a domination game although it's a bit harder with no nearby Neighbors not impossible yeah and this is so big of a city with just nowhere to place the tiles needs amenities needs housing that's fine he's getting a lot of deserts like five desert is way more than you expect we're going to place the holy site there's a bunch of plus six ones so I think I want to make sure I get the river adjacency as well these are all floodplains does it really matter where I place this I'm going to place it here I think that's it's gonna have more options to connect to commercial hubs and stuff in the future okay let's get the subtler than the holy site settler 20 turns hugely unfortunate I might see if I can NAB a Mogadishu oh his way over there hook up I can NAB a builder from one of these city-states that could be helpful and kickstarting my Empire but let's see okay we've met the goal not entirely sure where he is getting kind of a lot of error score which is good we do want to hit those Golden Ages for trade routes he met with the scout okay I don't know if I'll be able to steal anything from Singapore another tribal Village is nice okay he doesn't like me probably because I have a weak army or something okay Montezuma he's somebody who's gonna be aggressive probably chances are right Envoy okay wondrous buildings and districts Singapore could be nice to get crab we are going to be building a District right after the settler one gold could also be good oh two gold in the capital two gold per turn could also be good we are team money let's go for the gold I think it'll be a little bit more fun to go for gold rather than for uh production okay Singapore is over there he's doing something I can build a trade route which I honestly might have to buy the trade route instead of the Builder but 15 turns for this do I just buy any productive tile Maybe 15 turns two 13 turns okay that shaved a little bit of time off the early game is Molly is just really annoying 30 less production maybe it's worth it for Molly to go straight for the district run holy site prayers try and get everything worked out that way maybe I can find horses that would be really nice to get so we're going to buy one more tile it's even more production that brought me down to nine turns okay so that's cutting off four turns at least no way to steal a builder from Singapore that's bronos Ares he wants a galley trade route okay irrigation masonry sailing okay I think we'll be okay as long as the great prophets aren't okay two people are already making great profit points that is really annoying I haven't met either of them so I don't know who they are we still have five great prophets to hunt for work ethic is usually not the first one that goes and minaki is gone work ethic is usually a little bit uh later okay here's manolik Ethiopia is he one of the religious guys he is not foreign welcome welcome to our game uh she also not building one of the religions okay Peter he must be one of them he's got his larvas yeah he must be yep he is the first one so somebody else out there who are not sure is trying to get this but we'll see a little bit more research writings because we have the boost for it if we could steal a settler that would be amazing although incredibly unlikely nothing we can steal from Spain oh we could potentially steal a builder from Nubia would really piss her off but one two three I get attacked let's do it that's a builder oh he's got an Archer too that may not survive honestly okay uh died immediately I didn't realize she's gonna have an Archer I probably should have known that's a goodbye Scout well you win some you lose some it would have been a really nice Tempo to steal a builder quite unfortunate we didn't get it I think she's far enough away that we're really not super worried about her coming to kill us at least yet although it's a lot less error score that we're going to be getting by exploring the map maybe someone will like me for being a war Monger if anyone may be Monty writing I mean okay so we're going to be starting to get a lot of cultures by nature of being next to patati probably going to work all of these first to get gold production Faith even probably going to build plus four I mean crushing this kind of sucks right but it's a seven crushing well I can't Crush that it's incense so one two three four five six seven versus just placing it on the hill six okay doesn't know what that tile is but we know it's desert we'll see we'll see how we feel about that um we're probably not going to settle something in the city on the coast so maybe getting sailings okay that's a lot of Warriors from Spain don't know what Spain's trying to do okay some steady states have now declared war on me let's see our religions first religion is already gone Peter okay he got core music that's almost always the first one meeting houses it's one of the first ones as well okay uh hmm so if we are going to go to war to somebody it's probably going to be Spain or Nubia maybe even Aztecs but these guys are so far away I would have to build one city here I think well obviously one or two cities here and then maybe City three or four here just to start getting a closer path of attack No One's Gonna Be contesting me for the desert okay we can piece out Nubia in five turns I mean we did try to get cheeky with a settler steel it didn't work this time but it's worth a shot right you never know oh nice we're getting free money from Monty that could be nice I think we're gonna want the trade routes as fast as possible just to get even more money we have nothing to buy nothing to sell okay still three people are getting their holy sights up they're getting ready okay a lot of air score by sitting next to a Wonder we want the production and this is gonna be a lot of culture so I think we should be okay just click next we're going to want our holy site again so plus eight is really strong but I don't think I'm gonna think I'm gonna want the golden culture more I think is the only problem with that so just build up on the hill it is crushing a hill which is a little annoying but we just need that religions fast and we want the Faith from it if we get monumentality that's pretty much the only way we can keep up in the next age I'm gonna guess um monumentality to buy Builders buy settlers it's going to be really hard to keep up with the next age if we don't get monumentality also that increases the number of trade routes we get we get founding religion gives us a lot of points so we're going to kind of hope we get that okay not good to get attacked we've studied production we're not building units okay I think that's fine for now we've got another boost for irrigation this time that is also good We Are One turn away from piecing out Nubia don't know if I want to be friends with him yet but it's good to know that's an option and they say yeah I get so much extra food by being adjacent to a desert I think it's okay to work the gold and culture tile okay a lot of desert up there so that's good settling if we want it it is not that light okay let's see Nubia are you ready to take peace okay we are sorry that we tried to NAB a builder but we've got to risk it for the biscuits sometimes you know cup so we are one religion founded two more on the way and with Stonehenge I think we really need to rush this then I think someone's gonna build Stonehedge and if it's not one of these guys that means we were already in line for the fifth one and we only have six turns for the end of the era okay four turns from error score sorry six turns for the era score how do we get it because if we don't get this we're screwed I think we need monumentality strategic's Unleashed we don't have any strategics Inquisition governor new first type of New Era first large city Latin disaster fleets Civics of New Era satellites to orbit religion founded would be two but I don't think we can get that Master spy Mountain tunnel largest sieve Splendid I think we got Splendid um holy site met all sieves water park first in the world I'm thinking we're gonna get Tundra city is plus one right so maybe we can get some stuff I mean it's only two for hmm four error score can I get error score from meeting new people does that give me error score yeah but meeting everybody I think city states give you some as well so I don't think we'll be able to get the golden age unless somebody sells me like a ton of stuff we don't even have a governor yet we are starting to get culture now which is good I think I want production oh yeah I think we want production we could go for I think we're gonna want holy well the problem is we don't get the builders from the Golden Age anyways unless we discover a natural wonder how much error score is that uh natural wonder now all sieves is three we have one two three four five six two are missing unique District we're going to get final City taken of somebody unique City a bit of world you know first largest city um okay First Neighborhood repeatable oh World Wonder completed here it is a great person by faith great person by gold we could actually 750 Faith okay never mind never mind we can't do that we could buy somebody great person natural park so we did four or three and a one maybe Barb Camp there's no Barb Camp to get for those threatening camps destroyed Casa's belly on another sieve new continent levied Army is to hmm I really it's really kind of frustrating that we don't get that but once we get work ethic at least things will stick up we'll get six production in each of these cities and then we're going to get the holy site doubling card let's do double the adjacency of holy sites okay that's Dido it's an honor two is it two for the horsemen or one for the horsemen that's one only for Horsemen okay two free City joints we can't become a Caesarean of anyone abandon Brunei we don't have any Governors yet we won't have a governor in time we're not going to get a religion 740 for the profit five turns I think we really just need uh he's no longer gonna heal that's not worth it we really need like a natural wonder or something in the next two turns to secure that golden age which unfortunately I don't think is on the cards unless we get extremely lucky thousands have okay we're not gonna kill three barbs so maybe we'll just get bronze working so that we can't boost I mean this isn't a cost of spell you right I don't get error score for doing it we can try it I have no idea where Gaul is we'll try it if we're really desperate next turn okay that's I found a steady state but it didn't help city state also didn't help but I need three though is the problem there's no way to get three right I could have bought a Trader well this Turn Only so I think there's no way to get three it's unfortunate we're gonna be in normal age we need things that are three or above I'm at all saves yeah one two three four five six seven and we didn't find the last one he's probably somewhere in that corner we well I probably would have had we not lost that that Scout Aerodrome great person recruited we can't really get great people well 700 yeah no way we're getting that okay well this is what it is I guess um I still expect us to get kind of a an explosive continuation once we get work ethic which hopefully it's still in the game hopefully profits are out but profits haven't founded the religion enough the AI is smart enough to know about that I think we can at least get a golden classical uh golden medieval if we don't get the golden classical wait which luxuries like it okay production all cities I think is good don't need loyalties for now so I'm gonna do excess of the Evangelist every time I convert a city to my religion and we get the points because I think that could work I could do a little bit of uh trade routes to nalanda I think I'm gonna buy the trader just to start getting some more gold to nalanda that might give us some money I think the safe play for error score is go Amani World Tour Monday in all of these cities I'll start in Orlando five turns consider Serenity leave go to bandar Brunei five turns get this is their entity Mogadishu right and let's try and get to every single Sydney Get the Era score confirm the golden age because again if we don't get that money mentality Golden Age We Are honestly we're kind of screwed it's an Orlando nine gold per turn is also good yep lots of flat desert in the city so again that's lots of gold maybe we should have bought that a little bit earlier that's really going to help us maybe we can get some open borders will you pay me for it okay he'll give me a little bit of gold for open borders that's nice well thank you Monty okay so let's check great people Gaul is getting four per turn that's a lot still no work ethic I think we're going to do another holy site prayer eight turns yeah I think we just well we just need it I guess a strong economy all right wonders we're not kidding right now maintenance costs few minutes we don't have right now so we have Armani in she's gonna get the Sue Serenity for us we are going to maybe pick pinkala as a good catch-up I think we're gonna want just to make sure you get the stable up Builders could be good Moksha could be good it is a faith game so I think the goal right the goal here is we hit Golden Age next era we Mass settle everything I maybe get one settler out anyways just so that I can build an encampment next to Spain always got walls he's got walls everywhere okay um maybe I don't do that maybe I just in my capital I start going for for that but I think the golden age I don't think anyone's gonna settle me and I only really need four or five cities since we do plan on going to war so early someone built the Oracle that's fine oh I didn't pick my governor um you're growing in four turns that's fine we could grow faster two turns so two turns is the fastest let's get the two turns let's make sure we grow at least big enough to get all of these tiles foreign laying on hands is actually really good for an early War too let's put him in the Ani a little bit more faith wouldn't hurt I guess okay that's error score let's move Imani from nalanda to bend our Brunei that's gonna be one and how much error score was that was two error score yes so we're going to keep getting error score this way so maybe there was a way to get air to uh in the first era get golden age had I not you know flipped between uh foreign trading craftsmanship had it gone straight early Empire for the governor title I probably could have gotten that okay another trade Hut or tribal Village we like those huh oh so it doesn't grow at all okay let's at least make sure it grows Moksha will help also this religious pressure spread well I guess every city with the Holy site gets religious pressure spread all right um 30 turns for a settler okay I think it's time to actually get our builders let's get that first foreign towards Builders could be good we could put a builder in both walata and niani combo the builders kind of like that especially once work ethic comes we'll actually be able to produce stuff with work ethic okay we already see Serenity season of Bender Brunei okay that's fine let's move our money into Mogadishu for the era score Envoy is nice okay that means we can move Armani one more time I don't think I want the improvements yet masonry Eureka what do I need from your masonry a quarry yeah uh not gonna happen military tradition okay let's sit on that I think afterwards I think we're both just gonna get Builders uh that way we can put the card in things will be nice for us worst case scenario after this holy site prayer finishes we can manually Buy one of the great people we can spend a little bit of Faith to make sure we beat out gall for this that would be nice to get I guess I lost my number now wanted it even if it's slower than we wanted it we do want after this theology we want to make sure we get our holy site doubling bonus that is also going to be key yeah look at that it was 12 turn 13 turns for a builder now it's only six and four turns okay I think we're gonna go for at least right now classical Republic we'll start here we can switch later I'm gonna grab some settlers who diplomatically could be good I think we're gonna do is we're gonna grab some settlers after this we've got the Builder oh do we have to build their production card I didn't put the Builder card I wanted that one in first shoot uh happens I guess uh I wish you could change freely the first turd until it locks in that would be kind of nice we still need kind of a lot of error score though kind of a lot okay that's something going that way I think if we sell some of these luxuries it would also help meteor shower oh that is nice I might run a builder there because that's a unit for us and quite strong one at that I think if we're gonna do a night thing well that's one of the ways to get a good night to start okay and I think two settlers is it we're gonna stop at four so both Builders come online that's really nice well I guess one of them increased the price of the second Builder which is okay I guess for error score we can always convert people oh I haven't been buying people's Diplo favor that's one thing I think I probably should have done earlier okay people are selling luxuries they're cheap okay buy that for dirt cheap luxuries give us a little bit of a bonus and these luxuries are cheap okay he's mad that I bought that but that's fine let's make sure we get that okay luxuries are coming online that's a little bit more boost to production and everything we're gonna get some settlers and now I think we're gonna want horseback riding no pasture okay we can't buy the pasture so then I'm gonna do that I'm gonna get the luxury and I'm gonna buy the pasture that'll be good in terms of settler lens again I think we're going to want to try and get at least three around potatoes so if we can go hmm that is pretty sick it doesn't give the extra from oops not Hills but just desert there's no adjacency from also the mountain why not hmm I wonder if it's not calculating correctly oh the game froze that might be why well it's a crash okay um happens the best of us let's try and uh restart it everyone loves technical difficulties okay kicking off again I'm gonna load straight into the game trying to get me to report the crash yeah as long as the game well it crashed again well if it crashes one more time that's the end of part one hopefully not okay we're in all right okay so this Knight push I think we're gonna have to be starting to upgrade out or start building some heavy chariots immediately after maybe we shouldn't even be going for the camp for the encampments we should be going straight for as many heavy chariots as we can and just run someone over with like seven nights if so uh did we find iron I guess other thing because if we don't have iron we can't do that and that really changes the game it really really changes the game so let's Chuck raise your eyes from the marketplace to the heavens and let's see who has a religion so Spain doesn't have religions he would be easier to kill if we could take down his walls uh let's check for iron okay oh that's good lots of iron here so even something like settling here you can get a pretty solid let's say holy site there oh too close where's the settler lens hmm I still think one here is going to be good doing a solid holy site we are going to want to start collecting iron so do you think there's iron over here too one two three this is out of range so I think we're gonna have to settle here and buy that tile maybe get this iron or even better ah not better not too far away I wonder why it's only saying plus six it really should be with the mountain oh do mountains not count as desert that's maybe that's why mountains don't count as desert oh Desert Mountain that one is Desert Mountain Desert Mountain ah just one for so it doesn't stack maybe with the uh with the ability is the ability specifically for deserts tile so maybe not Desert Mountain interesting interesting I did not know that okay so we're gonna need to start producing those guys soon uh as many heavy chariots some cans we can just roll in we are also going to need can we mine a resource can we mine a resource I think this sold before I purchased all of the Diplo favor let's buy all of that again that's when the game crashed luxuries let's get these guys back we do have kind of a lot of money uh with extra luxuries we can't sell no not yet let's get our settler um we do need catapults too but build ancient walls which is actually really annoying for us to build ancient walls but we can we can try I think I'm gonna need a city like this guy literally build yourself or maybe even capital I think we're going to try and take on Aztec could be no he has a religion the easiest one to kill I think would be Spain he would have decent it's building theater scores Gall has a religion so I think if I were to kill somebody it would have to be Spain I would like to do it with my guy who gets money we still have kind of a lot of time in the era but I think we're gonna have to start immediately at that or at least start building units immediately okay a flood increases some of our tiles a little bit that's fine let's get that heavy Chariot for free we might buy some hmm that's no religion we could get some missionaries out let's do it let's buy some missionaries and let's start going to uh probably Spain maybe we can start going to Aztecs but that would be really annoying so let's try to go towards Spain oh uh it doesn't count okay all right so when you go to Spain then think all of our cities will be okay as long as we get that iron online we shouldn't have too much to worry about nice for every chair let's sit for a second there's a lot of Hills going into Spain which could be annoying but otherwise he's already losing is he at War where's philippo oh that's manolik Ah that's Ethiopia Ah that's why I was no no maybe he's dying to barbs it's hard to tell okay so I'm getting kind of out of luxuries that should be a pretty big uh boost uh two production and growth and Improvement all of the yields so that's nice to have okay it does suck that well does Ethiopia have a religion no I'm guessing no right no all religions are founded okay I think what you're gonna have to do is just build the mine on the hill get even more gold the mine in hell that's even more gold we have control of Mogadishu we have two of these guys actually lets you Faith by units doesn't it oh no it doesn't let you face oh it doesn't buy things actually probably want to keep in the gazu gamma Irma monster improvements let's move Amani to Omaha first I think we're going to want to sit in nugazi garmu later oh we have the two card nice nice so let's go in there already nice okay really nice really nice I'm happy with that see how hard it's going to be to to get Singapore on our side pick up start going that way you if we settle there one two three we could still settle I don't know like literally anywhere right so I'm thinking maybe we government hmm I guess we could government this way government saguba siguba holy site that way they're both plus six there's no way to get that to work in a circle so I think I'll go that way I do eventually want Warlords thrown the government title now would be nice but I think I probably should have gotten the trade route first he will grow though very fast so maybe it's okay anyways okay it will at least be my religion um not good that the Aztecs are coming in all the world's estate we don't want to overshoot our era score by too much gold maybe we'll keep that in for now I think we're gonna need to I probably should have done this first Maybe but get a little bit of trade routes in so maybe I should place this then let's get it oh plus four I could get destroyed by the volcano I hate that we're not gonna do that I refuse to get attacked by volcanoes let's grab some gold from mentalik okay that gold could be nice we could buy some other stuff with that gold we don't need Warlords thrown immediately so I could start working on well I hope the this machine doesn't come my way I could get horses to sew that would be nice it's a little bit more cash from the AI yes this isn't okay he's already got crossbows manolik that makes him worst fight I think maybe I do still kill Aztecs I still think he would be easier to kill if I had to choose so let's get the sakuba maybe I did this to grow I think it's got a lot of potential to get the tiles it just it just needs to get there okay I could also get Singapore then where's aramani okay she's coming to one turn I think the error score were pretty easy to get even without converting too many things I think I'll be able to start getting Builders as well okay nice got the Boost just in time for horseback riding oh Alexander is honor I'm not on a horse so only one more error score needed that shouldn't be too hard if I reassign Armani to Singapore quickly let's try and convert menelect that would also be a huge help see things I want to buy all of these things like monuments and granaries even though I know I can't get them yet could change the government uh not yet although we will change it once we get the double holy site adjacency because basically everyone's going to get holy sites first let's get one more builder can build a little bit more mines that's a little bit more gold for me hmm let's hold off on our promotion until we get the next guy I think we're gonna move let's say Moksha to the next city just to get the religious pressure up and then we'll probably take uh I don't know pingala sounds like a normal choice okay foreign that's fine let's make sure we get this holy site we can't buy through this why one two three what can I not buy let's assign pengala to the capital let's move much two I think we're gonna move them again anyways let's see if I can quick deals I can buy amber Maybe could still buy a little bit of dirt cheap dip a little favor we might be able to sell that for more well let's see how close why we can't buy it oh now it lets me buy it oh okay whatever more gold than I wanted to spend but not the end of the world uh let's make sure they grow I guess oh he's gonna grow by himself wanted think long swords are kind of annoying but there's no walls only catapults still I think with enough of our special unit unique unit I'll give us gold for killing these things we have Crusade as well if we need I think we have just barely enough barely barely enough to pull off our timing attack on the Aztecs even though it really doesn't look like it I think Molly is just a weird sieve so
