of the rosary of manawag let us stand for the faith let us live the faith as we thank the lord for the gift of a mother for pangasinan they're a source of knowledge that we have been unfaithful children half-hearted children and worthy children of the father let us now beg the lord for pardon and healing so that we may be less and worthy to celebrate his love i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and in what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous fall therefore i ask blessed mary ever virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and upstairs room where they were staying peter and john and james and andrew philip and thomas bartholomew and matthew james son of alphaeus simon the zealot party member and judas son of james together they devoted themselves to constant prayer there were some women in their company and mary the mother of jesus and his brothers the word of the lord thanks be to god please stand [Music] the lord is with you blessed are you [Music] [Music] the lord be with you and with your spirit are breathing from the holy gospel according to you glory to you oh no the angel gabriel was sent from god to a town of galilee called nazareth to a virgin betrothed to a man named joseph of the house of david and the virgin's name was mary and coming to her he said hail full of grace the lord is with you but she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be then the angel said to her do not be afraid mary for you have found favor with god behold you will conceive in your womb and bear a son and you shall name him jesus he will be great and will be called son of the most high and the lord god will give him the throne of david his father and he will rule over the house of jacob forever and of his kingdom there will be no end but mary said to the angel how can this be since i have no relations with a man and the angel said to her in reply the holy spirit will come upon you and the power of the most high will overshadow you therefore the child to be born will be called holy the son of god and behold elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren for nothing will be impossible for god mary said behold i am the handmaid of the lord may it be done to me according to your word then the angel departed from her the gospel of the grace lord you lord jesus christ please be seated the gospel just read is traditionally entitled the annunciation that is what the angel did but you can also give it another title the commitment that was what mary did the agreement that was what she said and did to make a commitment is quite easy but to live by that commitment is the bigger question and because we have seen many commitments compromised many commitments broken we have become an age that is always doubting that has weakened its trust for others because we have seen so many broken promises forgotten commitments and shattered relationships and the first damaged institution when it comes to trust and living by commitment is the family we have seen many families break down why because of that generation of broken promises forgotten commitments and shattered relationships my heart bled as i spoke to one teenager who very young yet could say i have no friends and i ask why not and she said because all friends hurt you the more friends the more hurt i don't like friends we have entered into that generation when we cannot trust one another anymore and commitments are expected to be forgotten sometime commitment making is easy living by it is difficult and that is where we need the blessed virgin mary not just in making commitments but in living by that commitment all weddings are beautiful i hope all marriages will be as beautiful as the wedding day it is not so all ordinations are beautiful i just hope every day of priestly ministry would be as beautiful as ordination day it is not so all parties are beautiful all fellowships are beautiful how i wish every day of our lives should be like that and it is not so that is why our young people could sing if i did not love i would not have cried and even earlier in their lives as toddlers parents are confronted by their children saying you promise me even if it is just a simple burger or a gadget that you promised or going out to the mall that you promised and then you had no intention of fulfilling it and you just made the promise in order to quiet down the child that is where the lack of trust the crisis the crisis of trust begins my dear brothers and sisters today on the feast of our lady of the rosary let us ask her for the gift of faithfulness we heard her commitment to god given to the angel let it be done to me according to your word it was a simple statement it only meant yes she did not say she understood she did not say she knew what was waiting for her it was only because the angel said so and she said yes may our lady help us to make our commitments may our lady help us to live by our commitment to be faithful [Music] why is faithfulness important why is fidelity important fidelity which is test and commitment fidelity which is promises always remember why is it important because when we are faithful we become more human and the reverse is when we are traitors when we forget our commitments we also lessen our humanity fidelity makes us more human fidelity brings us closer to holiness and if the perfection of fidelity is from god then fidelity makes our lives here on earth heavenly you have heard of skeptics and cynics saying that our lives here on earth are hell enough and therefore we will all go to heaven eventually that is a very sad assessment of our lives here on earth but we can make our lives here on earth heavenly by fidelity why because when we live fidelity we live like god because that was the covenant of god with us i will be your god and you will be my people i will be your husband you will be my wife i will be your friend you will be my beloved our lives and earth become heavenly because of fidelity to fall in love is romantic but to stay in love is mystical only mystics can stay in love romantics can fall in love but only mystics can stay in love and live that commitment what more because of fidelity our beloved with all his or her faults become beautiful because god is faithful even if we sin he still sees the beauty in us because god is a god of fidelity even if we fall and get blackened by sin he still sees something beautiful in us that is what fidelity does to the eyes it makes beauty easier to see that is the blessing of being faithful fidelity makes you more human fidelity makes life more heavenly fidelity makes your loved one who has sinned against you beautiful even more than before that is why this woman is beautiful because she is faithful that is why she could stand beneath the cross and wait for the holy spirit with the apostles because she is faithful and that is why even if we are ugly because of sin even if we have fallen even if we are muddied even if we look dirty even if our promises have been shattered and broken this beautiful mother sees beauty in us because fidelity gives us eyes to be able to see beauty in everyone broken promises it should not be so forgotten commitments it should not be so because the only thing that we need in order to grow in holiness is to be faithful faithfulness makes you holier faithfulness makes life on earth heavenly and the faithfulness of the beloved will make everyone beautiful because it is faithfulness that makes this world go round the faithful love of god our faithful love for god and our faithful love for one another the lady of manawag teach us to be faithful dear mother of manawag guide us infidelity dear lady show us the beauty of fidelity look at us with kindness and breathe on us the fidelity that made you so beautiful before the father let us stand to profess our faith i believe in one god the father of mine maker of heaven and earth of all things visible and invisible i believe in one lord jesus christ the only begotten son of god born of the father before all ages god from god true god from true god begotten not be consubstantial with the father through him all things were made for us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven and by the holy spirit he was incarnate of the virgin mary and became man for our sake he was crucified under pontius pilate he suffered death and was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scriptures he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end i believe in the holy spirit the lord the giver of life who proceeds from the father and the son who with the father and the son is authority and glorified who has spoken to the prophets i believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church i confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and i look forward to the resurrection of the dead in the life of born in lima peru in 1579 as a boy he learned the art of healing as a dominican he served as an emperor mario healed the illness of the poor and also of animals he led a life of profound prayer philosophy and canon law a co-founder of the order of the redemption of captives he studied arabic and quran at so as to dialogue with muslims he died as centenarian on january 6 1275 and was declared and set about at once serving the poor who came to the fire gate for alms he is distinguished for his great devotion to the rosary and untiring supplications for the souls in purgatory saint john pray intramuros and university of santo dumas in manila already already a priest he asked to return to islam to work among his people he labored for 14 years until he was captured and martyred on november missionary work in north europe but then he saw the dangers in the alba jameson heresy he lived and preached in evangelical poverty quartered others around him and founded the order of preachers also
