milwaukee county medical examiner says a man dressed inappropriately for the weather was found dead on a sidewalk this morning yeah this happened near burnham and muskego cbs 58's alex coradetti live at milwaukee fire department headquarters after talking to first responders natalie jessup the medical examiner says that the victim died while he was in the cold it's unclear how he died but they know that he was dressed inappropriately for the cold weather they also say that some kind of medical event could have led to this horrific incident and first responders say they see this far too often as temperatures drop across wisconsin the number of calls for emergency medical services increase first responders like lieutenant lorenzo williams with the milwaukee fire department say this is the time of year they see more people laying outside in the cold tuesday morning crews were called to the 1900 block of south muskego avenue for a report of a respiratory arrest the call came in it was someone down we investigated and we found the person down and we gave them the best help that we can at that moment unfortunately that person is no longer here williams says the victim froze to death on the sidewalk this is a difficult reality for first responders like russell johnston he's worked with bell ambulance for the last 13 years he says these situations can advance quickly but if you can't help to do so when it's really cold frostbite can set it in within a matter of minutes if you have a blanket or anything in your car or if you can get them in your car if you're comfortable with that but then get resources on the way 9-1-1 because we can get an ambulance there get them in there warm them up we've got you know hot packs and blankets and heaters in the ambulance and the most important factor is to bundle up nice good comfortable things that are light warm mittens hat things that keep you warm warm socks boots to protect the wind and jackets that can protect the wind now the medical examiner also says that the victim was not homeless and that autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow we will continue to follow this for any further developments both on the air and online so stick with us there reporting live outside of the fire department headquarters in milwaukee alex coradetti cbs 58 news
