ah squeak Watson tots aways Lorenz Spears Nina hi gonne say hi I'm Lauren Spears I'm Narragansett Indian and I am the director at Tama quas Museum and I'm going to be your arts educator today we are going to make dream catchers today I would like to show you what materials you'll need if you'd like to do it along with me you will need something that you can turn into a ring or hoop this is a piece of a branch which you can get right from outside for free in the spring summer and fall but if you don't have that you can use a metal ring or you can use what I like to use natural covered wire that kind of looks like the nature with a modern material if you're going to use natural covered wire you also need a wire cutter that will help you to snip this much easier the other tools that you'll need are scissors sinew which is a this is imitation sinew but you can get it at various native craft supply stores and this is my preferred material however if you're working with children string such as this this is called natural hemp and this is a nice material because it goes a little smoother and a little easier for young children to do the dreamcatcher and you might like to have some beads for adornment these are plastic heat but I use those with kids but I often use glass beads these are glass pony beads I have blue and white that I'd like to use today on my dream catcher and you can use other fancy beads like crystals gemstones turquoise wampum which is from the Quahog shell which is indigenous to this area as well as other kinds of beautiful beads that you might collect I believe in recycling so I use broken necklaces and pieces to adorn my dream catchers so that I have very unique beads thanks for watching this podcast series is presented by Tama clog museum visit our website at www.teamclarke.org Amica insurance auto home life Amica video produced by lydia rogers editing by michael johnson music presented by eagle and hawk WWE go and hog comm support this and other great podcast content at our patreon page WW patreon.com forward slash art ways
