Making An Heirloom knife Out Of An Old File

[Applause] what's up everybody so we're back out the shop and today we're gonna be making a knife out of file now I haven't done a knife out of a file for a while now and I think it's about time to do that but this particular file is one of my co-workers it was his dad's file and he is gonna be giving it once I make it into a knife to his son so it's going to go through three generations which is absolutely awesome it's a file they weren't using and now once it becomes a knife they'll be able to use it on a daily basis and it will just be a great heirloom piece now I am going to be doing the rivet design with this and it's gonna be pretty cool because this file is over 1/4 inch thick it's about a thirtieth of an inch so it's going to be nice and beefy it'll look really cool I'm gonna do some real unique handle skills on it but let's jump into it see how it turns out [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] definitely sharp guys so we have a Nicholson file for the main body of it super beefy one look at how I think that is right there and what's unique about this particular file at this pattern that's on here is the same on both sides typically they're either going one direction or the other or like on a rasp it's triangles on one side and then file straight lines on the other but this one being the same pattern it just looks like it was super intended to become this knife now this one does have let's get it there my makers mark on it right there and then we have diamond wood for the handle scales multi-layered brown wood brown and then green and gray on there and then zebra wood on the back we got 3/16 brass pins and a quarter inch lanyard hole orange g10 liners right there now this is the river let design and I've actually had she's made for this particular knife shape so I had them made the person who is my leather worker make a few of them and of course this one fits just like that it's compression fit so you don't have to worry about the knife coming out of it now guys y'all tell me what y'all think about this I think it turned out really awesome but hey that's me again I made it so I'm partial to it guys but that's the end of this one if y'all would give this video a thumbs up share this video or a video that I've done in the past that might be your favorite and if y'all would go down to the bottom corner hit the subscribe button turn on the notification bill so you get notified I want to make stuff like this or pretty much anything that I do in the shop guys you'll have an amazing day thank you for coming by and checking this out I'll catch y'all next time [Music]
