next we're gonna do is a bridal joint a brighter joint is a very simple sometime called open mortise because they go together slip joint because they slip this is from my chair seat and it's angled if you'd want to do this you would have to put in to this jig a small triangle to compensate for the angles you would have to mark it out and do it we're gonna do a simple corner to do a brighter joint you have to raise the blade to the width of the wood and then we set up the fence you can market proximately you want to take one turd out from there approximately three equal size we're gonna take this out from there I need to move my camshaft I'm still on the wide section of it simply put it to the nearest hole and it's gonna clamp put on the washer and a thumb screw and it holds the piece very snug in the corner square and straight I move the fence it's an eighth of an inch plate so if I make two cuts I'm gonna have a skimp recorder from the 3/4 H wood it's gonna make a very nice comfortable slide to get a joint [Music] a little thing [Music] [Music] this is simply the first part and the second part we have to cut after two outside please the same depth or the depth is very good and cut off the two shoulders so what I'm going to do is move this fence so I am on the outside of this two line that is simply coming approximately on eighth of an inch so I'm watching carefully my red line and bring that bring that away from there bring it in bring it in bring it in this a big help because this is where you want to take off you want to leave that much on the piece next piece I'm gonna do a tricot I hope this is the same thickness yes it is so I can do a try cut it's a it's a little bit loose although is a very forgiving joint because once you put this together you can glue it and clamp it therefore it would be very tight but I want to make it just a little bit just a little bit tighter I want to bring my fence in very little bit and I want to do another try cut I have enough put on this just to make another try cut [Music] love it just right beautiful let's cut it [Music] next they have to cut up these two shoulders lower the blade to the right height I can use the little try piece right there my miter gauge I need again and then this little block of wood the clamp on there so we don't have a jam up there simply clamp it on there now use the block to set up put a little pencil line to the bottom that's how far I gotta go set it up to the blade come back and move the fence so that block is my registration I have a pencil line on the block this is where I'm starting all the time therefore when I'm keep flipping it's gonna end up the same size shoulder again and only one corner try but I want to use my try piece to make sure I have the right depth [Music] it's nice and snug it's a very good strong joint you can use these cut-offs for clamping put it on there F is glued and there clamp it together this way it makes a very strong joint then I was apprentice Inc at home they made a lot of these joints for frames because it's easy to do with a handsaw you saw it you chopped it off and you done with the piece and here you have to sew it carefully and then chisel out a very little piece so it was very commonly used a lot when you do handwork this is the easiest way to put together a strong corner much stronger than dowels and much better than the no miter because it has a lot of glue surface that's the way we do a brighter joint you
