that this whole thing, wasn't a green screen. Cause that's what it looks like right now. I can't like this doesn't even look real. Its just like the background
and like my GTA garage. Welcome back guys. We're taking a look at the
one and only David Blaine. It's been a while. We haven't talked about David
playing in this channel. I mean the last time we talked
about him was that when I told that story of me meeting David Blaine for the first time. So David basically took these
balloons and floated up 25,000 feet and parachuted down. It was an amazing feet. He's also consistently been uploading to YouTube for weeks now, which has been really
dope for me to watch, as a fan of David Blaine. As obviously as YouTube to
see those two things come together was really inspiring
for me to be like, man, he can do it all. He can do it all. So to commemorate his presence on YouTube, his contribution to YouTube, I thought we'd look at some vintage, blame some stuff that got me into magic. And I'm sure some stuff that inspired a lot of you guys at home. That's the other thing. All right. I'll tell you quick story. This is actually pretty funny. I was hanging out with Mr. Beast. It was at VidSummit, so there's a whole bunch of
YouTubers there and Mr. Beast was there, Jimmy, he comes
up to me and he says this. He says, Hey Chris, do
you know this magician? And he looks at his
phone like David Glenn. And I'm like, I'm sitting there and I'm outside. I'm thinking David Glenn Davis, maybe some abstract like UK magician. It sounds like, or something sound like,
maybe I'm gonna go. Do you mean David Blaine? And
he's like, yeah, that's him. And my mind just went boom. And I didn't realize that, you
know, Jimmy is, you know, 20, 21, he doesn't, he doesn't
come from that era. And David wasn't really present,
you know, like he was back, you know, when I got
started when, when you know, 20 years ago. So it would make sense that
Jimmy didn't know who he was. So Jimmy asked me, he's
like, is he like, is he good? Was he do? And I didn't legitimately know
how to answer that question. Like where do you start? So I start trying to answer. I'm like, he's a suave swallows, frogs. It caught a bullet in his
face of a three, three days, 44 days in a bar. He was buried and he had
electricity through his whole... But then also you put a ski sodas mouth. I was like, I didn't know, legitimately
what to start telling him. And then it dawned on me
and I'm like, he's you, but as a magician. And he's
like, what do you mean? I'm like, you read the whole dictionary. You said PewDiePie a
hundred thousand times, and that took you two days. Well, he stood on a giant pole
for 72 hours with no sleep. So you could see the correlation
of how, you know, Mr. Beast is kind of the David
Blaine of the YouTube. Anyways, I digress. We're simply going to check
out some vintage David Blaine, because I think, you know, this is the stuff that
you guys need to see. You guys don't know the David
BLaine that I know, you know, a lot of your kids coming up,
you had no idea who he was. There is even a video out there
of David Blaine performing like Charli D'Amelio And they have no clue who
he is and it blows my mind. So I wanna show you guys some
vintage David that got me into magic. Let's have a look. All right. So we're here on his youtube channel. 1.3 million subscribers. He's a legit YouTuber now. David pulls the head off a chicken. See, this is what, this is what you're here for right now. - First thing that was ever done in magic, it was done 2,500 BC that we know about it was written about it 2,500 BC about a magician named DV. You want to hear about
a magician named DV. (laughs) - That's so funny because
like nowadays, you know, David on set. There would be people blocking
those people off from cutting in front of the camera. But that's what made this special, So amazing is that, it felt accessible. It felt like this guy was
really out there on the streets, which he was, performing for
random strangers, which he was. And nowadays, you know, producers and stuff they'd be blocking. That would never happen. And they would have never kept
that tape for him just like they would've, they
would've cleaned it up. And so this is just like the
great vintage Blaine here. And notice his energy
levels are super high. Cause this is like his
first special anyways. - Hey, this is what I
would like you to see, look. Here's the reason you don't eat chickens. Here bite. - Here is the reason
you don't eat chickens. Such a good illusion. - You see this, its working. He did this, he put the head,
he twisted it right back on and the chicken was back... - That looks so good. That's such a good trick. (woman screaming) Come on. You know, that's another
thing is like, Oh, (kids screaming) other kids screaming so good. There's so many good ones, here guessing the amount
of change in pockets. So this is an effect
that I've done multiple, multiple times. We'll see how different David's is. - Give me a number between one and 50. - So one and 50, okay. - Add digits for each digit,
but use different digits. So a number from one to
50 odd digits faces with different digits, - 31. - Done. - 31 - Well. - What was it? - 39 - There's only a few options there. - What's this, you thought of 39. I'm willing to bet my life. That you have exactly
39 cents in your pocket. Take it out and count it
and let them see, come here, see how much change she has. - This is so good. - Change. - This is good for so many reasons. - I don't know how much I have. 25,30 thirty to thirty 39 - I mean, that's so good. You know, when I perform this effect, the changes is in my pocket, having that change appear in
the spectators pocket or just knowing how much change they have. Obviously we don't see what's
going on behind scenes, but regardless for camera
on TV, that is a great, great magic trick. That's really sick. And look, it's not David being, you know, jumping off a wall or doing, you know, catching a bullet with his, you know, it's literally just him doing
some closeup street magic. And this is the stuff that got me interested in closeup magic. knife through card. - I want you to open the deck. I want you to thoroughly examine it. I want you to shuffle it
face up, remove the jokers. can I have a short knife to cut the soap? - [Man Voiceover] Sharp knife please. - Like a steak knife. Good. - He looks so different too. - Have you opened it already? - No, not really. Just cut it. - Like that, open up the box, take the jokers out, get rid of them, examine the deck. - It's too much information for this guy. Can barely hold a deck of cards. - Get rid of them all. - There you go. That's a good shuffle. - That's fair. What I want you to do is, I want you to spread them on the table. - Better. - Just like this, or I'll do it for you. Okay. I'm gonna turn my head. I want you to reach in and
remove any card that you want from the deck. Any
single one, take it out. And then you're gonna show
it to them and show it to everybody. And then shuffle
it back into the deck. I'll turn my head. - He's such a kid. He's crazy. - Show it to them. Let them see it too. - We got eight diamonds. - Let everybody see it and shuffle it back into
the deck thoroughly. Let everybody see. I didn't see it. shuffle the deck thoroughly. And mix it up. - I mean, that's super fair. No matter how you look at it, right? - And the surface of the entire table, mix them all around and
everywhere. Everywhere. Good, big, bigger. All across the whole table. I don't know which card is yours. Can I have a menu or something
that is, or can I have this? We don't need the plastic, but here's what happens in
many of those over the table. Just like that. Watch, ready. this knife, buddy. Look, see that's a card there. - Ah, so good. So overdramatic and unnecessary, but man, that makes the trick so much better. Boom. Oh my God. I wish they would've kept
the reactions in there. What makes that trick so
good again, borrowed items. I need a borrowed knife. Open this brand new deck. Give me a menu. Stabs a table, shakes like
over like shakes the table. All the cards are all over the place with one card and the knife. It's you're like, that's
such a good trick. That's a great trick actually. Like I love this stuff, man. This is what gets me going. This is weird, man. And I've spoken to a friend
of David's and consultants on this show who told me that this was legit. Exactly what happened,
like, which is weird. - I don't mess with my team. but you have to trust me. Come here. Open your mouth. - This is so weird man. - Will you trust me. - Yeah, I got it. - Can you do it again. - I will try this thing. - Am good. - Open, just trust me on this. Just relax, just trust me. (crowd cheering) just trust me. - Oh! What. (crowd laughing) (laughing) - He's just legit. Spit her tooth back into her face. (people laughing) It's still like, okay,
rest in peace that trick, in today's climate. There's no way anyone's
ever gonna let you, stick your fingers in their mouth, take their tooth and spit
it back into your mouth. Like that. Rest in peace that trick. That trick is now retired. But that freaked me out When I watched that, the first time I ever watched
that too, I was like, what? Like that's pretty insane. All right, Something cool, Something cool. All the levitation. Okay. So this levitation, I mean,
in the magic community, everybody kind of cringes this because it was a little over the top. So we turned a small levitation. you'll see, let's just watch it here. This is, this is pretty famous though. I just freaked a lot of people out on TV. This is like a first one. You know see what it mean. Like, all right there help get a reaction, from the guy when I seem to
get what's going on the ground. - Oh! My God. Wait, do that again. - Do you have to take all that you know. - I don't know if I can, you know what I was once
able to do is levitation, but I got sick out of my, let me try this. stay right there. Let me just try. stay right there. I don't know if I'll be
able to get off that. It's kind of hard to. Okay. - This is so, so good, man. So the people on the right
are really freaked out, the people on the left, not so much. And there's a reason for that. And now he's telling this is so good. This is the type of on the fly video. You need other spectators
come in and he's like, he levitated off the ground this high. He was like, and they're
over-exaggerating everything. This is like raw New
York street stuff, man, this is so good. Here he goes again. (woman screaming) see that. I'm gonna tell you something right now. The reactions that they got, were absolutely real and genuine. Those were real people who
believe they saw a levitation. No doubt about it. He did perform a levitation
and they did see it. And that's how they reacted to it. However, what they showed, is him levitating off the ground, like this high, a hundred percent, that was producers who were like, let's get a pickup shot. Let's just like lift them up
in the air with some strings and film that. And then they will cut in with those reactions because for TV, people always wanna play it bigger. And that small levitation
didn't really play well on TV, even though the reactions
were absolutely genuine and they were completely blown away, the levitation is too tiny to film and for people to freak out, it doesn't take much in the real world, real world for people to freak out. But on TV, it just
wouldn't be as impressive. So they cut it in with
that, which, you know, ethically, as magicians were always like, is that the reactions are genuine. They did see a trick. However, you're, you're kind
of lying to the people at home. So it's like, it's this place where we live in as magicians, but ultimately like that
obviously went viral and people saw that. And remember David Blaine, levitated. And that's one of the things
that really skyrocketed him. So what he did was basically, this is known as the balducci levitation. I don't know if you see me. Can you see my feet? I don't know how that looks. So that was amazing. I love that. That's one of the, like I said, that's one of the things that got me, that made me freak out when I saw David blame. I mean, David is really what got me started in magic in terms of like wanting to perform and stuff. And I remember studying and
everything he did and just kind of reverse engineering it and
figuring out how I could do it because there were no,
there was no internet. I didn't really know where
to go to, to study magic. And so reverse engineering, a lot of David's stuff is
how I really started from, you know, his car tricks
to this next trick. Which you're gonna see. - Excuse me, one second. - The fact that he goes to a
doctor for this is so good. So the guys noticing
the cameras, he's like, what are you guys all doing here? Which is great. This is really on the fly. This is not produced. - Facing towards you the other way. Turn to the left. Yeah, more to the left. This is so straight and move your foot back a
little bit so you can see this. a little bit like this place your hand inwards a little bit. Like this. Inwards a little bit. A little bit more. Place where it starts to get painful, with your left hand can
you grab it right here, with my fingers. - Yeah. - Grab my fingers and twist them a little bit more. - Yeah. - Let's see the acting
here, the performance. This is like, this is what sold me, man. - You all right. - Yeah. Keep going, keep going, no no. Keep going, keep pushing. - Now they're starting to
there's other spectators. You all right man?. Holy crap. - Yeah. Keep going, keep going. - So they adding these sounds and so a really good trick. So that sound you hear first one, that's like a really cool
illusion that you can perform as long as you're wearing
like a long sleeve shirt, but a really good subtlety to that, is having like a water bottle or something under your
arm or in your sleeve. And just like, as you on untwist that you go in the water bottle and it just, it sells the illusion so much more for people who are freaking out, they hear that sound. They get grossed out. Like, but again, that was something I'm watching on TV. I'm like, how did he
get the cracking sound? How did he, you know what I mean. Like as, as a young guy
trying to learn magic, like it was really deceiving
watching these shows because they throw in, you know, segments of him levitating
and in the sounds and stuff. And that would throw me off
if someone's trying to learn. But which is also good. I feel because it kind of
help protect, you know, his magic. Alright, let's watch a, let's go watch one more here. Officer finds card and shoe. - Not everybody's saying
you shouldn't say, it to stick it back in. That's good. Watch someone with, I get it like this. Ready for this? Oh, wait, move your hands. Oh shoot. Did I, you know, what
did we just feel that you felt so soft? - You can hold something
drop cards on my shoe. - Chosen card sounds weird, but will you look under, under your shoe. Yeah, underneath it to
lift it up like this. Oh no. You know what? It might've went too far. Can you take your shoe off? Take your shoe off. - These are legit cops. - That's the one, the
card is one over, right? Can we, I want you to see this. Hey, - I guess I don't worry about it. - I think it's right to your left shoe, you want to go check inside? - Yeah, I go check inside. - so weird that he doesn't want to take his shoe off on camera. but it also addresses the realness of it. And like there's a dramatic
factor that, that just created, which the producers and editors were like. We're keeping that. There it is. You guys reaction look, you're good. Wonder if you had just like his, like some really terrible
pair of socks that with like a bunch of holes at it, he's like, yeah, I don't want to show that on camera. Oh man! Vintage Blaine is the best Blaine. There's you know what? There's so many videos
that I could go and, and check out right now of
David's and I really want to, because for me like watching a lot of this is super nostalgic and brings me way back and makes me miss, you know, performing for
random strangers again, which is something that's
really hard to do these days. But if you guys want to
see more videos like this, definitely subscribe, leave, like, and let me know in the comments, if there's something you wanna see again, check out David Blaine's channel. If you haven't already, all these videos his vintage videos, everything else are there. So you can subscribe to him. He's actually posting brand new content and yeah, that's all I got to say guys, welcome to the new office. Welcome to the new space. I'm pretty stoked about this guys. Kevin, for the next
video, we'll see you then. Peace. (upbeat music)
