Magical Mystery Gifts in the Courtyard!

hello and welcome to cut out the shadow where today we are in the courtyard for the first time this year the first one there is a bench the first this is the first use of the rosie bench which is phillip i was going to say philip moved out here but grunt just lifted it the wrong way i'm sure he could lift it i'm like well i'm not sure thank you i try to move it once yeah i love it i live it like that no no exactly i just point but this is the first time we've been in the courtyard opening a gift since the new trees were in and out in leaf and it feels like we're in a little park now we even have a parasol thank you for the parasol philip this is really lovely i didn't want anyone to get sunburned i feel as though it's like a proper a proper garden party it is such a summery day i love it that was a peacoat by the way if anyone was wondering we have a present for you i separate for dan and emery the other part okay so you have the litter in there thank you very much nice it's red i don't get the whole what's the most you've spent on a good bottle of wine about 15 minutes oh my god i love that i knew you would like that one dear ms jarvis at al i've been following your adventures at la land for about a year and a half and i want to thank you all for the many hours of joyful entertainment that you've provided by allowing us viewers to join in your life at the chateau for a while now i've been thinking about what i might share with you having grown up with many intelligent independent women around me not unlike those of you at la land i thought you might enjoy the enclosed book where the pavement ends it's the story of 20 something woman solo bike trip from central russia through mongolia and china to vietnam that kind of books i want to do that even with algorithm also enclosed two t-shirts for dan and amary so they can dress alike on their male bonding road trip best wishes to all at that land keep on vlogging bob thank you bob i can't wait to see this i would like to think it's actually very very beautiful and i'd love to think that i'm the sort of woman who could do a solo trip like that but just not on a bike i think i just don't see it i did solid trips and um but never in a bike and i was planning to do one in africa but with a friend yeah no not by myself i don't know if i had to do it that's amazing one woman's bicycle trip through mongolia china and vietnam wow just incredible she may not have been a cyclist when she began the journey but she surely was a writer this is a terrific book written with tremendous insight and deep personal reflection how extraordinary oh well i'm looking forward to this i met so many cyclists when i was living in south argentina they were coming from alaska all the way to that town and many of them they were not cycling uh before they start baby yaks looking at the bicycle on its side have you ever seen a baby yak before no me neither that's a baby thank you so much bob i am thoroughly going to enjoy reading this and i wish that i would have time on a day like today in the courtyard this is what we should be doing in the courtyard it really is yeah with a glass of rose i saw under the house i saw a few guests doing it so i didn't keep looking out the window really jealous going to get thank you bob here we have from switzerland switzerland gosh i think that's quite rare isn't it yeah i often get things from switzerland so we have guests from yeah [Music] wow and lovely beautifully folded you see on this side this is stephanie and that folding at the back it's wonderful let's see how do we open it must undo that and then oh that pops out of there oh that's really exciting and look how pretty it is it's got venice on the paper how wonderful i love it dear stephanie i began watching your youtube channel at the beginning of september 2021 and i've so enjoyed binge watching your videos i love your bubbly passion for history and for restoring and preserving the history of your home such history is also a living book and you are writing the current chapter of shatud laland each new day brings with it the opportunities to make that day's writing a grand one all of these doilies were handmade by myself as i've watched your videos i keep imagining them in various rooms i think you're the kind of person who can appreciate the beauty and practicality of each unique piece and i hope that they will add lacy elegance beneath decorative objects by giving you these i want to encourage you to remain true to your dreams of seeing your home restored to its full glory filled with laughter love and memories even the dust carries the story if we only stop to listen that's what i'm going to tell my mother next time it's telling a story if you're curious about there's two ways i like to use them yes so either on a cushion so you have like a plain background and then that on it like a like a little lace detail or on a tray in a tray yeah i think this is a match for the tea sets for the guest rooms i like that they're so delicate wow beautiful yeah they're amazing and there's so many yeah oh my goodness it's incredible but all the different colors and shapes and forms and widths some of gossip are fine i'm actually very drawn to the very thin ones as well so that is so delicious really pretty oh and i love these colors it's so exciting not knowing what's coming next um this has an what is that uh hand wash with warm water and mild liquid detergent okay so not too hard to wash look at this one this is a really nice one it's beautiful oh oh that i like these little pink ones oh and it's slightly fluffy that one my mother is going to love them i would put them all around see the furniture yes everything that's beautiful but they're very good on devices because they stop that yes mark that we get under sometimes i think they're incredibly practical as well as being that one i love works of art look at that wow my goodness well we are very very rich in doilies that's a nice tray one yes or cushion yeah you're right with a beautiful fabric behind it and this one also good for a cushion we're getting onto the cushion phase i think of all of this it's nice it all be so pretty oh christmas oh oh it's actually really pretty that works really well this is another extremely pretty one oh and another very fine one i think it's the same shape it's the same pattern as that one so beautiful two like this these are perfect for pots and then we're just you meant michael potts right [Laughter] another cushion end oh other beautiful color i'm swapping my collar yeah are those basil leaves uh no they're laurel oh laurel that's what i mean sorry it's a bay leaf and that's called the love here they smell so good yeah i love that do you send [Music] wow they are wonderful okay we'll put them back in here she's so talented yes honestly stephanie thank you i can see that philip is going to have hours of fun placing these around the chateau but also we are going to make some cushions from them i think we should have isabelle get fizz dips oh you think so let me get back here it's beautiful i love them thank you stephanie thank could not make the king laugh he is retreated to the fairy garden where his we friends are attempting to console him as we quietly step away not wishing to disturb we are reminded that all of us need loving friends around us in difficult times number two this lovely maiden has cautiously entered the secret garden of the nymphs sounds like a good one number three incident on pear tree hill fairies are not always the sweet creatures that we suppose them to be and number four is juarez viva namaste catherine i like it yes i'm so excited to see them this is nice take a look at this one oh indeed oh this is a story this isn't the fairy art this is wow okay we'll look at these after looking at these this is some completely different story with images and that looks amazing and wonderful what is this one unwanted attention oh [Applause] wow oh beautiful so i think that the big big ones are in there and then there's two others that have been added in oh and this one is called port thieving look there are the spoils oh so he's taken from here i think it's fabulous i love the two mice they're so cool oh yeah trust you to immediately spot the two mice i hadn't even seen i was looking at all the fairies they're so beautiful i love them these are these are really beautiful okay [Music] that's a big one this is the garden that is stunning by the way have you seen this i love that one wow yeah okay if i was carves i would definitely be wearing that let's face it if it's only a matter of time yeah fair yeah i mean why not start with this one but ships yeah gives it a certain masculine aura i mean anchors well i mean you're in the navy we'll we'll see about it but i think it's really beautiful in the garden of the nymphs oh wow oh wow you're so talented catherine so beautiful the colors do you know it reminds me a bit of you and your medieval dress i was thinking exactly that yeah yes sean's extraordinary clothes look at even her gloves wow these are massive they're wonderful and they are this is a very pretty scarf as well did you see this one now i haven't the elegant ladies wow see that's more for me and then they're almost matching [Music] i'm not sure if i'm quite ready for that the world's quite ready for that actually this one is the incident on pear tree hill i like the orange oh look she's reading a book about fairies and the fairies suddenly attack so was she's there sewing or just reading with a picnic yeah she was reading with a picnic and they want her ribbon [Music] oh how lovely they look very cheeky yeah i mean extraordinary imagination you have well they remind me a little bit of anton pique uh well yes of death yes it reminds me of that as well and this one oh this is the same the last one but then different colors well that's natty's colors the little jester this is the jester who's sad and he's being comfortable like his friends oh no he is sad oh look at that because he couldn't make the king laugh that day that's a beautiful face i was thinking oh face this is it bars i love the eyes these are beautiful yeah they're mesmerizing aren't they yeah they really are and you see something new every time you glance over at it do you notice something you didn't see last time it's so beautiful i love the flowers the wings yeah it is lovely and then here there's another one another very very lovely scarf oh yeah that is loud are there your colors matty a little bit cinderella yeah i like it very much this is juarez interesting oh look at that scarf by the way oh my god goodness okay i think that's actually my favorite oh now it's your girl now that you've found that that's the most darling thing and i love the pearls here just along the base and look look another little necklace then here it reminds me of the heron porcelain yeah where the birds have got the the rothschilds in the trees yes i love it i really love it well i don't know where we're going to put them but we have to find somewhere maybe the gallery wall maybe one or two well it's a pity we haven't got a nursery because they're so perfect for a nursery aren't they oh look there's even a bunny rabbit oh i love that and maybe a chateau needs a nursery anyway i think chateau needs a nursery when people visit it's an enhancement dancing every candle [Laughter] and i think this is my favorite scarf so that's beautiful isn't that yeah it's amazing wow and this heavy caution heavy box portion heavyweight horseshoe heavy box is as well from katherine okay all right yeah my goodness i will have to move over book yes these are the books from the library pega says i used to love stories about pegasus when i was young my favorite film was clash of the titans yes this sort of thing that's what i enjoyed i mean oh yes it's very pretty you can just imagine lalander all pictures of pegasus okay so this is his story oh my goodness what a beautiful book oh i love it absolutely look the 12 dancing princess i remember this this story as well i loved as a child i like illustrations like this he's usually so quiet but this time of year my goodness he's very excited good morning you will see it in the bridge there not allowing america what's that oh what an incredible illustration that's beautiful it looks a lot like her illustrations actually yes yeah oh they these are i have one though okay that's my favorite that's it we found my favorite one i never tired of reading cinderella as a child any new book with new illustrations and of course a new illustration means a new ball gown and newcastle oh and this does not disappoint water gown what again will you be recreating oh actually i like his outfit should we make these outfits imagine you with all that fabric over you no but if you look at it if you look closely it's quite tight little britches underneath yeah that's true so no i think so i think that's a tightly fitting waistcoat under there as well i presume so yes look i i see your name philip here so maybe you can come here that was the wedding picture beautiful gown see i could yeah that works too look at that i've literally got that oh that's beautiful yeah i like that i love the pearls in her hair this is exquisite another incredible scarf oh it's the same one with the carriages but with brown i think this is also oh oh yes oh please use it i feel as though i should be doing aerobics yes yes i think she needs like leg warmers in the same yeah like fuzzy ones start stretching oh look how cute colored pencils oh with the sharpie can i look at the actual it's a pencils that is superb actually the color range so if i mess up any more wallpapers [Music] you are notorious for that just a little join a little tree to hide something thank you so much for gerald i'll put this aside for gerald just a lot of little shame one of these oh wow that one is really great so look at the colors on these yeah i'm a terrible influence on philip why because i just really like flamboyant things on men it's very beautiful it reminds me of like like i just said uh carriage yeah and this is for everyone all right it's heart art on t-shirts you want to open this one yes thank you and i will open this one which is stephanie it's stuck together there we go it's a bit like this pretty pretty are frameable if you should wish to they are yes they're prints of her work but their prints onto a kind of water watercolor paper and so it's just had the nicest finish it's very velvety but you realize we could do an entire room the amount of these this is this is the lymph one that we have look at it's a little oh yes this is the sad jester here this one we hadn't seen that's a lovely one and this one this one we have that's uh my favorite one look it's like pop art gosh oh that's nice that's actually very cool it has come out like pop art in a way that i like a lot and the others aren't like that i know that's that one i really like that yeah there's another one of those that is a superb one isn't it oh look how pretty that one is it's got quite a snow white vinyl yes it does it's kind of with a red riding hood up there yeah very fairy tale i think we had one of the stickers was this one maybe i think she made all the stickers as well yeah yeah oh a good bear one that's excellent very nice but your imagination just keeps going catherine there's just no end to it look it's got birds oh and i love that the bee neck it's my favorite at the back yeah i like v-necks as well t-shirts really nice easy yeah great absolutely great i'm actually going to put this one with them so that it's kept safe because i think this one is so incredible it's interesting how she does she's got so many different styles okay this one part one this one this is similar but in a different style exactly same yeah this one for the elusive neck oh that's so cool but there's a pink egg i didn't see nice look at that with the metallic oh natty that's cool yeah a little french yeah this is very pop art this one french ice cream yeah this is the same one but different version oh and all different sizes as well which is really thoughtful okay i'm going to choose which one i'm going to wear i quite like this one look what do you think of that one on me yeah that was really pretty i can't change into a t-shirt now because i think it would be a bit risque with just my knickers generally would need a lower half added long tissue yeah oh look what i'm talking about that's fun oh that i love it yeah like with the snooze a little bit like um um what are they called aristocats yes a pink one oh that's nice nice color that's a really nice color i can imagine cereal with one of those uh guitar actually i think cyril would enjoy one of those yeah okay we'll ask everyone in the house to have a little look through and see what they would like to wear it's so generous very exciting so generous really is that more t-shirts i think so is that even possible let's see there's a few just basic ones it's like this but i think maybe because some of them are a bit see-through variant oh i love that one oh it's cropped oh yeah come on yeah i need my abs but i can see your nose yes i can see you in that and this i think this is a cushion cover pavlina was talking about going for shopping so maybe we don't need to it's a beautiful color this is yeah very soft as well beautiful but we just ordered some no cushions oh you've got one spare nothing that size so now i have to order more cushions more presents oh that's beautiful look at these oh i love the cardboard i actually think these would look nice you know on the uh bed set that we bought for your apartment really ornate and french but i love the linen texture i like these very much yeah they're beautiful oh they're trees great and they're huge upside down three of us there's no announcements just they look right so what is in these i cannot believe how much there is in this box oh this is is a cell phone for the other side as well the rose the royal horticultural society rose the history of the world's favorite flower in 40 captivating roses with classic texts and beautiful rare prints how cool oh this for the library at shuttle la land this is is a magnificent bird like i'm beautiful i'm actually blown away by this this is the history of the rose and using 40 specific ones uh rosa gallica centifolia this one i think we have in the garden and what is amazing is that it comes with the plates oh can i hand you some of these look it comes with individual plates can make the garden like that yes definitely oh beautiful and this one so i i know i'm going to be pulling out every single clothes but they're just so so lovely and she sent me something as well and look it's one of the beautiful cushion covers ingredients oh and i think this will enjoy those as well thank you catherine i'm sorry i'm still staring at the rosewood i can't believe how beautifully it's presented you see the way it's all presented with each of the plates at the bottom and then the book and the whole thing in this lovely box that then ties with string it's so amazing oh look looks draw a little headshot philip i thought you might like to give this some color catherine and you've got your color on your hands so sweet oh thank you so much catherine it looks even more wow so thoughtful i know but you're generous oh nathan you'll like this box what do you see oh yes i don't know but i know you'll love the box whenever we see pretty boxy blotty watercolor oh watercolor yeah look at this for edging oh this piece that's wonderful it really is it's not edging or it's just a ribbon it's a beautiful beautiful ribbon because it's got the uh yeah i love that when you can really shape it with that no but because it's got uh iron in the uh iron wire wire it's hard to take anything you say seriously at the moment [Music] there's still more to open rhapsody in the forest oh natty's going to like what a little bit that doesn't have so many animals i think philip would enjoy it too i think people will enjoy just looking at it we should just leave it in the petite salon oh yeah oh look at that oh i love it this is so thoughtful imagine that all colored and i like the watercolor for that because they're so big that you need yeah you need watercolor this is for nutty oh thank you how london is going to enjoy flipping through this what exquisite photos i love all the care that you put into all the wrapping yeah and little autumn leaves it's so sweet [Music] and this one is fashion the smithsonian fashion definitive history of costume and style philip you're going to love it that's how you'd like me to be dressed everywhere i was going to say it that was literally if philip could dress me every morning that is how i would look every day look there's two more scarves that she sent me see i think she's trying to tell you something same thing that i'm trying to tell you it's really beautiful they're beautiful that would look great on you too but she i'm having so much fun with this it's so shiny and she sent this book as well with it eso's favorite fables more than 130 classic fables four crossed out children phillip rabbit oh that's so pretty that's so sweet she'd mark this page in here which uh i agree with you catherine this is my favorite page oh i love this shirt yeah it's all the paneer dresses and the shoes fantastic incredible now i've seen a little craft box here and i think maybe nothing would like to open that one oh i want to make all of these i the refills made him more excited so i said i said i'll be sharing mine but i think you can take these with me and oh that's extraordinary that's wonderful just to choose one of these desserts oh look because you've also sent a story with illustrations i'm going to read that now because it's not very long and it's a poem so i think that'll be really fun to do look at all the gifts we're putting aside from people are unearthed it's in the bottom here kate o'grady it was a sunshiny day i was hanging up clothes while bread in the oven was a bacon through the rustle of leaves i thought i could hear the sound of someone as sneaking so i parked up my ears and turned my head and there to my surprise stood a tall dark man with a case in his hand and a pair of cold black eyes oh how i should steal oh no de las indeed i do not but i'll play you a jig or a reel then he drew from his case a fiddle and a bow and he placed it there on his shoulder and every note seemed to pierce my heart as the look in his eyes grew bolder so i closed my eyes and gathered up my skirt as my feet caught the tune he was after and i stepped and i whirled in my pretty petticoat so i thought i could hear his laughter so i stopped dead still and shot him a look so cold it could kill a raven his smile slipped away and his dark eyes flashed and he said i can see you're worth saving for i've never seen such a clever little step nor alas who is so allurin if you pack up your gear and come along with me i'll gladly take your turn for i have a wagon and a fine strong mule and all the world to travel and with honey and who in the world will do all of this for such a wee bit of money kate lowered her head in a quiet of ways she raised and lowered her lashes and heaved a size so disarmingly that his boldness turned to ashes so down upon one knee he went this black-eyed troubadour for he'd fallen in love with his calmly lass and could leave her side no more so he asked this time in a courteous way do you think that i'm worth saving for without your love to guide me along i'd be but a wandering raven she put out her hand and touched his shirt she could see that a seam needed mending stand up young sir and tell me your name and the places that will be a going he stood up then so straight and tall and said my name is thomas then he took both her hands and put them to his lips and gave her a kiss and a promise katie packed up her gear and took along the bread three loaves with butter and honey and into her stocking she tucked a handkerchief that helped just a wee bit of money she looked at her hands they'd worked hard all her life and her life needed rearranging then she looked at her feet that had danced not enough and thought that'll all be a changing and down to the wagon hidden in the gland with fine strong mule to pull it and the sun went down and the laundry didn't dry for it sat on the ground in the basket and all evening long and into the night one could hear that fiddler singing and every now and then in the pale moonlight one could hear sweet laughter a-ringing yes away she went without even looking back on the arm of her black-eyed man away to the field where the other wagons were where they met with the rest of his clan indeed she was welcomed as one of their own the last whose hand he was holding for never had they seen such bony blue eyes no hair so red and and who shall empty our bed chamber pots and all the like and sundry and who shall bake such fine soda bread all slathered with butter and honey and where is the lass who did all of this for such a wee bit of money well they're off unravelling all those pretty roads with nary a can or a bother and at katie's breast is a wee bonnie babe with the cold black eyes of his father that was really fun
