LTT Backpack VS Alienware Area-51m Elite Backpack - And First impressions of LTT Store Backpack

okay this is the LTT backpack versus the Alienware 40 liter I actually don't know what the model of this is called but it has a pretty obvious profile and I'll try to provide a link if I remember to search for it uh yeah so the uh Alienware backpack is probably the best bag I have ever owned it fits everything I could need or want to fit and the right way in the right places it has very similar logic to the LTT store backpack uh based on Linus's uh overview of the backpack it sounded like they weren't aware of this I'm not sure but this shares a lot of the same design principles and it didn't sound like they had any awareness of this bag or it's a little brother the uh the 28 liter which is essentially just the same bag but shrunken down which they both use the same concept laptop sleeve and giant empty pocket all right so I think what I want to do is I just want to take everything that I use uh it's a little overstuffed I would rarely carry everything that's in here all together but I'm usually about 90 of this equipment so we're just gonna take and move everything from here to here see how it fits see how things are different and I'll comment along the way so first off the essentially the sunglass kind of pocket case here here's the equivalent here we have our glasses I have a variety of USB contact lens case another USB dongle these are dongles I don't really care about they're more if I just need a quick dongle to wipe real quick I'll usually keep windows and Linux on each of them but I won't be afraid to wipe them if I need to all right now this is where the Alienware will kind of double up its glasses case for me the LTT store case was a bit too small for my inhaler so that will usually go here on the Alienware after that that's all I'll put in there that way the inhaler is quick and easy access the glasses don't get scratched so now we have their version of that front pocket so big opening here it's bigger than it seems the more you put in here the more you realize how much space you have but on camera and when you first look to put things in there you don't really notice it and so this is where I will keep a few quick Chargers iPhone this is just an anchor double type c for travel this is uh the pair of headphones really good stuff really portable built-in microphone uh blonde I forgot the model on these though it's one of their most inexpensive Pairs and that's it this was maybe because what I have in the other pockets this was too tight to fit really anything in I guess I could put some cables in here uh maybe the USB dongles but I won't give that a final judgment here but it was way too tight to realistically get anything in here that I would need to so for now that will have to wait all right let's zip that up we'll go into the I don't want to call it the main pocket because I feel like the laptop pocket is the main pocket but we'll go into this part here all right so this is an area where I think on paper Alienware wins because they can fit a 40 ounce water bottle right here and it's external too so you have easy access quick access to it where the ldt store bag it's inside and I'm not sure how I feel about that yet but after putting it in and neither one really slid in that great or that easily unfortunately they both took some finagling getting caught on some folds on the way down uh excuse me the LTT one if you already have things in your bag it will start getting hot on them as you try to put it into the pocket so you'll need to kind of shift things move it take them out similar thing happens with the Alienware excuse me if you go to put things in here if there's a lot bulging from the side of the bag this will get caught won't be able to get in and you'll have to from the outside of the bag kind of scooch things over to get it in there so if your backpack is packed neither is that great it's good enough and I think the logic behind each is kind of uh maybe a preference if you want quick access to your bottle Alienware if you know you're going to sit down and keep your bottle out for a bit then LTT uh I don't believe I don't want to say believe in the logic for me flipping my backpack around to get sent out of it quickly not an option for me so it's either all the way on or if I take it off it's off for 10 15 minutes an hour or two so I know that they had mentioned that there was logic behind flipping it around real quick to get something out that doesn't work for me so that's irrelevant for my situation all right so we're gonna start taking some stuff out of the bag headphones uh by the way not a half bad spot to store the dongle these are the Novus 7x uh steelseries Nova 7X actually I don't know if Nova is what they call it but anyways this is a much better headphone than the uh Nova Pro Wireless because it's got the mesh ear pads it has this nice tiny dongle and it has uh the on board chat mix so you can go back and forth really quick it's strange that they made the cheaper headphone so much more approachable and easier to use anyways just a quick note on that steam deck over here standing up these are the unreal heirs if you have a Macbook these are excellent for triple display for anything else with uh display I think it's DisplayPort out even the steam deck it's a nice big giant screen it's wonderful all right tons of cables not as clean as I usually like to keep them but I was just trying to move everything from one bag the other to see how it all fit this is where I keep this little bag is where I keep my various console cables for older switches different model switches I keep a controller in here with no batteries so it doesn't keep turning on in the bag and then we just have more and more and more cables I do not need all of these cables but I find that I'm frequently in situations where I need a variety of two or three you know sometimes I need something super long super short for one thing or the other and while I could absolutely condense and be like all right let me just have two super long of these and a super long of this and just always go with that I just have preferred to have more than less because it really doesn't take up that much space and I just keep that in the main pocket here for the time being this pocket I forget what it was referenced as nothing in there again it's a bit too tight to get much in there probably if I was only carrying this is three six foot type c cables I think it would fit in there pretty well so that would be a great spot for that and the loop in between I have this charger here it probably fits right in the middle of the loop there so tucked inside I don't know if you can see that that works okay I like that that's probably how I'd store those something along those lines all right that's everything in my main pocket the only thing missing from my main pocket is I would usually have my portable uh the uh sorry the the metaquest uh traveling case but I just got the pros to try out and the case for my Pros hasn't come in yet uh which looks like it's a very similar shape and design that I already gave away gave away to my child uh gave away my uh my quest twos so I don't have them right now to check all right so actually I'm sorry I opened up the main pocket too soon I may not be able to zip it with one hand sorry we're getting close here admire the mesh and the there okay I forgot uh this is where I'll keep cables in the Alienware this top pocket here so just slap in a whole bunch of cables don't worry don't worry about it too too much some Chargers I'll try to put down on the mesh the mouse I'll put here in the mesh and again just everything except for my ethernet cables I'll just slap in here trying to film while holding the camera I knew this would be bad but it was like on a grab a tripod for my what just be some one-off video okay now we go to the main pocket and yes that does make this kind of uh top heavy right here I haven't found it really matters at all it doesn't really affect much of anything except that it comes down a little quicker but other than that all right so here's some nice of these about the Alienware bag you have the headphone pocket it's just it's nice to always know your headphones in there sometimes that Mouse I'll actually slot it in between the uh the opening there with the headphone there the deck can go in standing like so no issue put in my heirs controller and I usually don't keep this is where it's like the whole 80 90 thing I usually don't keep my work cables and my play stuff and everything at the same time I'll come home and just drop off the ethernet the console stuff maybe another piece of equipment I was using and then leave it empty or something like that but once in a while if I want to go hang out somewhere after work I will have absolutely everything with me all right that's pretty much the main pocket and this one's taller so I think it it just about ties with this one uh as you see there's no water bottle in here it's outside and it seems like there's about the same amount of space I had in here as I do here but again with the height on this could make a difference for that uh Oculus travel case and that's just a cheapy clone of the original meta case that I have coming uh so if it's not very travel friendly for size that's what I'll start hunting for something a bit more uh tiny keep things a bit more minimalistic all right here's the overstuffed thing where I usually don't travel like this in here we have 17 inch uh Alienware X17 cheap portable 17-inch monitor MacBook Air oh we skipped one this is the Samsung Tab S8 Ultra down there I don't know if you can see it and then just an old 15-inch laptop I have here just to kind of shove it a bit more full uh I will either have another work laptop here sometimes if I'm testing out another laptop it'll be here oh I'm not in this I just got this yesterday but I'll have just another another one in here to test so this is my daily driver this is my big boy I use it for everything that I can that goes in right here oh something to show you to Linus's point where they lined the whole bottom it obviously won't show up on camera but the entire bottom of the bag has the protective uh cushioning this just has that velcro strip in there it is thick it is nice and it feels like it's just as good as the LTT one however uh yeah I know the uh it's very hard to tell the laptop can easily just squish to either I guess it's a better visual either side of it and still hit the floor so I always set this thing down gently I mean even even on this side set stuff down gently just to not risk anything but you can tell when you sit down on concrete and tile you can hear the laptop just touching straight tile in here so it definitely is slipping past that cushioning it is not very useful uh I could put it Actually I don't even remember if it fits in this front pocket here in a second no it doesn't even fit in this front pocket the front pocket is suspended up uh so there's a main pocket here that has the cushioning below it and this is a suspended pocket which can almost fit a 17 inch laptop just not this one which is funny that Dell Zone backpack can't fit it by the way this smaller 23 liter is rated or is that 20 28 liter sorry is rated for Dell's 17-inch laptops guess what doesn't fit in here they're a 17 inch laptop which led me on the hunt for this silly Dell all right that's right I didn't finish the main pocket yet by the way it's old laptop so that's why I slap all the stickers all right let's zip this up for the moment no way sorry jumping around I also usually put the portable screen in here and that's usually all I'll keep in this main laptop section here is a 17-inch laptop my 17 inch screen which if the Oculus Pros or the end reels sort out a lot of their software issues I won't need that portable screen anymore and maybe by the g-force uh 5000 series I won't even carry a 17-inch laptop I'll just get something tiny because with these it's like having three 32 inch screens in front of you they say 200 inch screens but I I think that's just a way to make numbers sound larger based on perspective uh but yeah it's definitely like having three 32-inch monitors in your bag right so we've got this other large laptop pocket here and this is where this puppy can go I probably should have put it in first but yeah this is where the Alienware starts to fall apart versus the LTT bag as well because I can't easily get as much stuff in here as I can here thanks to the two separate pockets and everything being well separated all right so then again I'll try to like get a second one in here but not with this 15. and so this is where I just alter how I travel again I had it in the LTT bag to prove that it can hold more but I usually want to travel with that much so I'd have my MacBook Air in here my tablet in here and again the stuff on the bottom is preventing me from sliding things in and that's pretty much it uh even the gaming laptop I just keep charged with a type c because I'm usually just browsing or working I will grab its adapter when I need it at times that won't take up much space a little bit less than the unreal ears do and that's pretty much it oh nope nope there we go I forgot I did this side pocket yes and this side pocket here that's where I keep my Anker battery and Alienware also has a side pocket and that's where I put that When I close this up again I hope that that's large enough for the Oculus uh thing I'm not even sure LTT will be big enough for it we're gonna find out in a few days when my case comes in and there you have it it's all loaded all ready to go uh excellent bag I've been meaning it for a year now it is in excellent condition I don't beat on it but I don't baby it nothing really fraying yet I think that's just original stitching there but uh yeah great bag um I think the initial differences the obvious in person I'm not sure if they show up here is how much taller the Alienware is you know it's funny you can't see it here because everything's squished down the Alienware is a good say two inches maybe taller than that uh oh there's a pocket down here I never knew this by the way I have no idea what you want to put in here there's a lot of space actually so something squishable maybe maybe that's a good cable spot yeah come to think of it that's why I should have been destroying my cables all year okay anyways uh yeah um based on initial feel this feels much more comfortable on the back and no I'm not just referring to because I'm used to it like instantly when I put this on the first day I had it it was comfortable it was wonderful it has a different strap design than LTT but it feels like lots of backpacks have this where this comes down like that and this feels like that kind of bag oh it feels good you don't have to tighten the straps up much to it feels snug because it's kind of encompassing your whole back from just below your neck all the way down past your butt again it's a lot it looks so much larger than it appears it is so much larger than it it seems um it also has the cross link to go across your chest when you're walking long distances has the uh the thing to go through the uh the uh your rolling bag this passes all the way through um so I say they're really close obviously LTT bag is gonna hold a bit more now as we saw with that one extra laptop in there so yeah I just wanted to show some initial sizing some initial uh moving equipment from one side to the other nothing else really to say they have very similar logic in their pockets uh the only thing I really like about the Alienware that ltts is because it because it's so wide you can get to stuff pretty easily but Alienware has a great way for you to get into everything quickly which is the pockets it's all the way down and you can just pull it right on down granted if it's not here in the right corner you're still digging it just makes digging and searching a little bit easier or if you know you're going to take everything out of the bag quick and easy uh yeah and again um I thought on paper I'd prefer the water bottle on the outside I initially did not like the idea of it being inside that was very disappointing when they showed that but in practice for a day and and thinking about how often I actually get my water bottle out of my bag while I'm walking it's probably you know six half dozen kind of situation uh yeah so that's that um I think what I'll do is I'll post comparisons between these bags to the 28 liter here which is much much nicer for travel so this holds more um but I'm so much more comfortable bringing this on a plane uh so I don't know I'll have to see but yeah if I have the same logic as as Linus is I'd fill this up with two three days worth of clothes some travel stuff in here maybe not the chonker laptop but something to get me by for gaming and working there and you know just try to make it a bit more condensed and this can handle that this right here the 28 liter it can handle a laptop a tablet headphones and I usually won't bring big headphones when I travel I'll use earbuds I can fit two three four days worth of clothes depending if it's winter or summer clothes in there and I can get all my travel stuff up top here and then usually a little toiletry bag that goes right on top it all seals up and that's all just fits under the airline seat so it seems strange that this just fits under the airline seat this one's supposed to as well I don't know man I'm questioning that but we'll see uh yeah sorry I guess I went off on that but yeah that and then the other one that I thought would be wonderful but kind of proved that I don't like tons of organizer Pockets I want a Big Empty pocket the other recce which is the one almost everybody swears by I forget what model this is but it's basically their biggest one uh yeah so I'll probably make comparisons to that to the smaller one and LTD bag to the ever recce and uh yeah all right Hopefully this wasn't too amateur thanks for watching
