Lower Third Tutorial - Learn Magix Movie Edit Pro 2020

hi and welcome to this DCP watch tutorial in today's tutorial I'm gonna show you how to create lower third text title animations using magics Movie Edit Pro okay so my desktop I got this folder and I've got some various video clips that I've downloaded from pixabay and I've got a bit of audio as well so let's go ahead and open up MAGIX Movie Edit Pro and the goal is to add these lower third title text and they're normally position I've on the right hand side or the left hand side towards the bottom of the screen here so there's some tools in MAGIX that allow you to do this quite quickly so let's go ahead and drag in this C here so what this C clip is just this C and we want to cut this video a bit too long so let's make it around 8 seconds I should just make it around 12 seconds right so I'm just looking at the timeline here I use the arrow keys you can see it's bang 1 12 seconds there so I'll click the cut and we'll delete this now we just want to add a title to it so we could go ahead and use something like Adobe After Effects you can use blender or something like that to create some nice text titles but this I'm already pre built in magic so let's try and use some of those and let me show you how to use them so let's go to templates and inside templates you've got these titles right so all these different titles were being free some of them improves tutorials we're gonna look at caption basic and inside caption basic if I were to click play on one of these you'll see they're lower 3rd not all of them some of them are towards the side like they'll come in from this side here something like this and I've got these nice little animation sequences sometimes when you're doing editing and you want to do something quite quick then these titles can be quite useful to produce some nice-looking content very very fast so let's go ahead and drag one of these in so we'll just scroll down a little bit I think that's on better ones in here let's see so maybe we'll look at using let's see what's going here let's go towards the top let's try out let's try this one this one right here let's drag that onto the timeline we'll drag it on the layer below and MAGIX will pre build all of the content in the layer isn't stackable together and make that whole sequence for you quite quickly so we can drag across and we can see what's going on here it's got this little animation and normally something 3d like that I might do that in something like After Effects or blender right but we can just drag and drop these and use them so why not just drag-and-drop and use them so when we drag and drop it if we click on it we can see we can change the text here it's got two lines here really so we'll type in something like just typed in sealife write something nice and simple you can hit the enter key and sit into a second line if you'd like but when we leave it like that let's just go back across the time line and click the play button and we can see this nice little title animation created for us we call these lower third because the one that you know the lower third of the screen this will be the middle and then this will be the top so they're called lower third titles just dragging another clip in this experiment with a few more we let's take these trees we'll drag that into here we're on 12 seconds right 12 seconds so I'm going to drag this clip to overlap it will measure add a transition of one second let's go back to the templates let's go to basic shapes I think today we will use maybe this one so let's drag that one into the transition here we'll click play and then we can see that white transition there we'll go to the end of this clip let's go back to the 3d one 3d titles we want the caption here caption basic and let's try a different one let's just see what a few of them look like and then you can go and experiment you can see there's quite a lot of them here so let's try them this one here let's drag that on to the timeline let's drag it here now this one's a bit of a problem because the actual clip itself is longer than the actual video sequence or normally I'll click on this and delete it I don't think it's suitable because the the actual trend the lower third was longer than the video clip so you don't really want that so we can pick a different one there's a mouth it's plenty to choose from here let's try let's try this one up here so this black one quite curious what this one is let's drag this one is quite sure it's much shorter let's break that one here and then we've got the text the type in here so let's just do our best relight right let's do tree life and let's click back here and then click the play button you can see like this paintbrush effect and you've got tree life written there which looks pretty cool I like the effects and then it also transitions out it just fades out like this and then let's go ahead and cut out let's say roughly around this much we'll cut this here and we've got one more video clip left and it's dragging this winter one and we'll transition that so that 21 20 so we'll be at 20:20 is here let's go back to the template we use the shape basically for and we use this one it's got a little red dot so you know which ones you've used before we'll drag that one and then we'll go back to the caption basic let's just pick another one as well maybe we'll go for they've got nice little corner ones here as well right these a little like the corner ones something like that but I think we use something let's try something a bit more dramatic right this is what this one looks like that's pretty cool this it depends on them really what your content is about right which ones are more suitable let's see let's try and use let's see what this one looks like let's try this one I think this one's pretty cool your squares might yeah let's drag that one to here and that will gets built out for us and then we can just do winter life and then we'll click here and we'll click play and now we've got this transition as well so you can see it's quite easy and quite quick to add these little video transitions maybe what we do is we'll let it play for a little while towards the end let's say to about here we'll click here and cut it let's just finish off this little movie clip so we need to add some audio to this just to finish it off so let's drag that audio clip I download it's called waterfall will drag that down onto the timeline down here and just about see it but if we hold down the shift key and use the arrow use the mouse wheel we can actually zoom in and out of these clips like this you can see we can stack these layers more we can see more these layers basically so where the end let's click on this audio clip use the cut tool to cut the end part let's delete that and then let's just reduce the left a zoom back in actually to use the volume control of the zoom in let's drag this right to the end when you cut something if you cut it incorrectly you can always drag it back out right this is the little audio option just to reduce the audio let's set it through around -12 DB we want it to be quite a little bit quiet in the background to adjust the audio you can also right click go to set volume you can set it here to -12 DB that's quite quick easy accurate way of doing it will fade the audio in and let's see a block starts right away so what we might do let's just fade the audio out at the end and then we'll hold down the Alt key so we can move to the top and they will fade this is see at the beginning so let's click play I think this is a nice quick easy way specially if you're now if you haven't got high in software if you're not using something like Dobby premier if you're not familiar with such software especially like After Effects if you want to just create something you know maybe sit well hobby project maybe you're doing some small stuff on YouTube you can do quite advanced stuff in MAGIX as well if you're just sliding off a little channel you don't want to invest heavily into the software MAGIX is quite a good cheap option but you can do some quite advanced editing in MAGIX as well it's not just the basic stuff but you know it's all about learning and the idea of this channel here is just to feed you guys information and help you to understand how I might use this software to do a lot the video editing I do for my youtube channel videos right so I've got my main channel DCP web designers then we've got this new channel starting now which is more about video editing it's all dedicated towards video editing I'm going to start off and make something quite basic some basic tutorials just to help people it's really we should drag this audio clip right towards the end here so it fades out quickly we can go ahead and save that for me it's a nice little project if I do this for my client maybe I was you know had a little business exhibition or something and I'm going to show some video content do some nice transitions and maybe add lower thirds now obviously I wouldn't do three completely different lower thirds I'll probably use the same one three different times but I just wanted to show you three different examples so now that you can go and experiment with those lower thirds here in the caption section and pick your own ones and see what you like and see what
