- Welcome in y'all. All the videos that I'm doing
today, are request from y'all. And, what did you tell me about
the basic meatloaf recipe? I got a bunch of meatloaf recipes y'all. - [Woman] It's got five star ratings. - It's got five star ratings. - [Woman] It's like 200 and
that's like a 250 ratings. - Like 250 ratings. - [Woman] And it's one of
your most searched recipes. - One of my most searched recipes. That's the one I'm gonna share
with y'all on today's video and I'm gonna just spray this pan lightly. So did I tell y'all what I'm making? (giggles) Basic meatloaf, and I
think I'm pretty sure that this is aunt Peggy's recipe. So, you see me putting down bread and you probably thinking,
Paula, have you lost your mind? What's going on? I'm putting the bread down so it can work it's like a sponge. That bread is gonna soak up
any fat from this ground beef because I just don't
want my meatloaf cooking in a bunch of grease. So that's a good trick to keep in mind. Even if I'm doing it on a cookie sheet, I'll just cover the
cookie sheet with bread. I'll be here. All right now let's
see like I need a bowl. (utensils cbumping) I'll tell a meatloaf
everybody seemed to love at the Lady and Sons, and
that was our cheesy meatloaf. Oh, and it was so, so good. And so if you wanna try
something different, how much meatloaf is this ground beef? - [Woman] A pound.
- Just a pound. I'm gonna add a half a cup
of just instant oatmeal. You know the oatmeal that
cooks in five minutes like I use for my oatmeal cookies and I'm gonna add my
onion and my bell pepper. (bowl bumping) And then I'm gonna add one egg. (cutlery bumping) So, I'm gonna be honest. (fork clacking) I don't normally use a
recipe from our meatloaf and I never like it, I never like my own meatloaf. (fork clacking) I think that when I make
meatloaf from now on, I just need to break
down and follow a recipe. And like I said I think this
one is from my aunt Peggy, and everybody seems to love it. I'm gonna add my egg, and I'm gonna add let's see one and a fourth teaspoons of salt. I'm gonna add up a little
bit and that should be it and a quarter of a
teaspoon of black pepper. So not much of that. So let me hear from y'all I want to know what
y'all doing it out there 'cause I don't get out much anymore. (giggles) How about y'all? (wooden spoon bumping) I really do wanna hear from you. We started years ago, when I say we, I mean, my family started
using oatmeal as a tightener for our meatloaves. So to me this is the best
way to just get in there with your hands and get
it all mixed up together. And the cookbook I say a can, eight ounce can of diced tomatoes. And I don't even know if they make an eight ounce can of diced tomatoes. So, I'm just using tomato sauce and then we're gonna
cook it in this loaf pan. Of course you know about the
bread I told you about that. I wanna hear from y'all, I wanna know what y'all
would do in that pan. Okay, this side up. I wanna make sure... Come on Paula you can do it. A pound of hamburger meat is
hard to, hard to hold on to. I wanna just make sure
I get that bottom smooth and kind of mold it together and then I'm gonna put it
in here on top of my bread and then I'll be able
to finish molding it. Okay. Trying to get the air
pockets out of it now. A little bit of onion
and bell pepper left. (bowl bumping) So I'll just put that all in there. (water burbling) And then I'm gonna come in
with a knife and do this. (water burbling) Make sure it's packed in down there. (water burbling) And on top of that bread, perfectly well. (water burbling) I left the water running,
didn't I hate it?. (laughs) Okay. (water burbling) The topping that we use meatloaf
is my favorite part y'all. I'm gonna just mix together. It's probably a half a cup of ketchup and two tablespoons of brown sugar, and a tablespoon of mustard. (fork clacking) So you got that, that sweet almost like a caramelized
topping on your meatloaf. And one of my favorite sandwich which is in the whole world
y'all is a meatloaf sandwich. (fork clacking) I always try to make a
little bit more meatloaf than I know we're really gonna need, so I can have my sandwich on
white bread of mayonnaise. It's so good. (fork clacking) Okay. I'm just gonna pour that on top and we're gonna bake this
for one hour at 350 degrees. I'm gonna just spread it just
a little bit using my fingers. Okay. Every bit of the topping on there. (spatula clacking) I don't wanna miss a drop of that. All right, 350 degree y'all for one hour. It's gonna be delicious
with some cornbread. (pan bumping) All right, I'm gonna set a timer 'cause I sure don't
want that to over cook. There we go! Just that's simple y'all. Okay friends, I want y'all
to look at this meatloaf, it looks so delicious. I'm not gonna cut it though
because this is supper here at the Dang Groove House tonight. (laughs) But I can promise y'all it's very good. So let me hear from you,
I wanna hear what you do. Help me out 'cause like I said, when I just throw my meatloaves together, I don't think they're all that great. So, I wanna hear from you
and I will try your recipe and of course I will give
you the kudos for it. Loving best dishes y'all.
