a man are you gonna help me preach tonight I feel a work from the Lord tonight we only have a few days here and I feel a depth in the Holy Ghost and what God wants to do I feel God wants to do something deep and something rich so young man young women look at me I understand maybe my accent is a little bit different for some of you I would tell you though we don't we don't have time to get to know one another so to speak yet we'll meet each other after this but we need to ask that the Word of God could do it's specific purpose here tonight okay we need to ask that the Word of God now here's how this happens number one we will pray after we read the word and we will ask God to make the soil of a heart prepared that the seed of his word might find lodging okay after that when we begin to preach there will be a response I've already been here before and I've seen how you do this it's important but response is like watering the seed that was planted into your heart that according to scripture that it may grow and produce some 30 some 60 700 fold we understand that the measure of that hoping that it can find good ground response but then beyond tonight it is going to require us to have a lifestyle response it's the strength of what I feel for the first night that God is not going to allow us to miss his service but challenge us from the first night that we need lifestyle response to his word everyone say Amen amen First Samuel Chapter three if you're there in your Bibles or on your electronic device First Samuel Chapter three if you're there say Amen if you're looking at the screen say I'm cheating yeah school is now in session let's you ever have a preacher start reading and you don't know how many verses they're gonna read and you're wondering when is the finish line I'll let you know the finish line okay we're gonna read through verse 10 got it okay and I may have you read one of these out loud with me so just be prepared and the child samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli everybody say Samuel very good and the word of the Lord was precious in those days there was no open vision came to pass that time when Eli was laid down in his place his eyes began to wax dim he could not see the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord where the Ark of God was and Samuel was laid down to sleep I want us to read that verse again but together verse three are you there an air the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord where the Ark of God was and Samuel was laid down to sleep that the Lord called Samuel and he answered here am I and he ran into Eli many of you know this story he ran and Eli and said here am I for thou called me and Eli said I didn't call you lay down and he laid down probably scratched his head a little bit couldn't understand and the Lord called yet again to Samuel and samuel rose and he went to Eli and he said yeah Eli Here I am you you did call me ride and he said I didn't call you son lay down again verse 7 now Samuel did not yet know the Lord neither was the word of the Lord revealed unto him number 7 are you there we're gonna read that verse together as well ready now Samuel did not yet know the Lord neither was the word of the Lord yet revealed unto him and the Lord called Samuel again in the third time he arose he went to Eli and said here am I you did call me he's almost questioning at this point Eli perceived seems funny that the scripture even uses perceive do you think he would have got that on the first time Eli perceived that the Lord had called the child therefore Eli said unto Samuel go and lie down and it shall be if he called he that now she out say speak Lord for thy servant heareth so Samuel went he laid down in his place and here it comes aforetime the Bible says the Lord came and stood and called as at other times Samuel Samuel then Samuel answered speak for thy servant heareth this is the last one we're gonna read together verse 10 we're gonna do this again so that you get these verses into your mind and your heart here we go and the Lord came and stood and called as at other times Samuel Samuel then Samuel answered speak for thy servant heareth I would like to preach to you on the first night of this uprising 2018 on this thought lost in the dark lost in the dark and two weeks ago I was speaking at an event and the Lord gave me this word and I was praying for our generation and God said I continue to call but they do not understand my voice we are at the launching point of last day revival we're in it we were really in last a revival right now and it would be detrimental to what God has set up over these last couple thousand years if we're a generation that has all of this but does not know his voice I want you to lift your hands I want you to pray with me now God we pray as I spoke intentionally at the very beginning that the soil of our hearts might be right dear God break up as according to scripture what might be referenced is fallow ground we've heard messages sermons we've been ministered to we've sang songs for most of us the vast majority this is not our first service we've been in church many times we've made commitments but there is the ability just like the soil outside there's the ability for our heart to become hardened like the soil and we pray that you would break up the ground right now so that the seed of your word might find lodging in our hearts and in our minds it's got to get beyond just our ears and the inner Canal of what we hear it needs to find penetration into our minds and down into the recesses of our heart then our response this very night let it water the seed that's planted help me to preach with wisdom and clarity but let it be received by your people tonight these great young people with greatness let it be received with response that it might grow and produce in our lives we ask it we ask it specifically in the mighty and the magnificent name of Jesus Christ than you would receive all the honor and all the praise hey man why don't you thank the Lord right now for the reading of his word amen praise God now I want you to turn to your neighbor and smile so big they see every tooth you only gali and I want you to tell them he's talking about being lost in the dark for those of you who this makes uncomfortable to talk to your neighbor if you can't talk to your friends at church I'm doubtful you'll win a soul turn to your home turn to your other neighbors and smile long enough that it almost feels awkward yeah I always love the nervous laughter there some of you guys have been waiting to smile at her all night turn and smile and and tell them I guess he's preaching about being lost in the dark and you may be seated tonight put your phones away unless you're taking notes on it put your nail clippers away sometimes Pastor Harvey when I have the crowd be seated I'll do this thing where I just stand there until it's almost awkward because you know we typically lose the crowd for the first two or three minutes getting settled in you know we have to strap in to the roller coaster and has anyone here ever been lost in the dark before anybody I was with my father in the woods we grew up being in the outdoors and grew up hunting and hopefully that doesn't offend anyone we have there with the white-tailed deer and we hunt and and when I was a young boy I remember going with my father late one night in the woods and we were trying to come out of the woods and we were finding our way out and and and somehow we only had one flashlight and I'll never forget when we were down there deep into the woods and our flashlights started doing this scary movie thing where it started going like on and off and I shook it and it come on and off has anybody ever had a flashlight that kind of stopped working and you shake it like that's gonna help you know seeing your way through the woods or through a place that you're uncomfortable with in the daylight is an experience by itself but to be in the woods at night yeah scary does anybody know what I'm talking about when I say the spiderweb dance I don't care how manly you are and especially in Australia because the spiders here the devil is a liar yeah and I can remember walking through a web doing the spider dance that light was flickering on and off and I I was house getting her nervous because what are we gonna do what are we gonna do if it goes out you know I was already panicking I'll never forget when that battery died on that flashlight yes I remember being I was in a panic mode let me let me get a little witness in the room anybody ever know of the time that you you went into panic mode raise your hand if you've ever been into panic mode some of you guys you better be honest you lie you Frye been into panic mode I went into panic mode my manly mature young voice it wasn't really dad what are we going to do it was more like dad and I was trying to find my way around didn't know how to go didn't know where to go and I remember my dad stopping and saying listen he said listen do you hear the highway he was trying to make you know when when the lights go down your other senses begin to increase if you'll stop and tune in to him and way off in the distance we had got turned around in the wood but way off in the distance he could hear the highway and he knew that because of where the highway was he said because a word is we have the sense of direction on which way we have to go to get out of these woods and it took us it took us at least another hour until finally there in the distance was a little pin pin light edging through the woods and we knew or we were on our way out it was one of the scariest moments of my life but my dad taught me something in that moment that if you'll learn how to listen in a dark time you can find direction Samuel Samuel didn't just show up on the scene just like us there's nobody in this room that just showed up you didn't just accidentally get here in fact might I just say about this beautiful renovation sitting here pentecostals of Sydney this beautiful church and walking up on this platform and seeing it that we didn't just accidentally end up here we didn't just you didn't just walk in one day and these beautiful chairs were here I know some of us teenagers did there was money given sacrifice that went into it a lot of hard work and effort and energy that went into it for us to be here Samuel did not just show up on the scene samuel has an incredible story Samuel had a praying mama some of you your testimony is really I'm here because I had a praying mother I can tell you I can bear witness to that I had a praying mama and I had a praying grandmother and Samuel had a praying mama in fact his mom's name was hand everybody Johanna yeah that wasn't really a yell but Hannah yeah and Hannah went up to the temple of the Lord the Bible says they went every single year they always went she was married to a dude Elkanah and and elkanah must had much money because he was married to multiple women it was a different day a we hadn't got there yet let's not even talk about Solomon but he has these multiple wives but Hanna has a problem Hanna is barren Hanna cannot have children and it de-stresses her so let me give you just a little bit of backstory as we get into this for Hanna to not be able to have children it was literally a testimony against her because they knew the Messianic prophecy that there was the promise of a one day Messiah that would come and being barren in her womb was literally an indictment against her because recognized from her barrenness came a sorrow that she must have some kind of a hatred almost from God because she could not produce and grow something inside of her that had salvific purposes and so she is there before the Lord hidden away and she is in deep prayer she's in the kind of prayer that gets into ugly-cry mode the any of you ladies know what I'm talking about when I say ugly cry anybody ever got it ugly you don't care who sees you when you get an ugly cry mode some of the best moments you'll ever have in church are an ugly cry mode in fact if it's been a while since you've had ugly cry Church you probably need an ugly cry moment the kind of moment where you just get alone and you kind of got that stuff just we laugh because you know it's true and there's always that awkward person that's not really praying but trying to give you a tissue you laugh cuz you know what happens quit dab in my nose and let me go let me Oakley cry she's pouring out her heart before the Lord Eli the priest walks in and the Bible says he marks her mouth for the longest time while I was younger I thought this meant he smacked her I thought this is an awesome story can you imagine this he walks in finds Hannah there she's she's pouring out her soul the Bible says she was sorrowful in her spirit she was pouring it out before God and I had this mental picture that Eli walked in with that be some renegade Church right there some lady pouring out her soul at the altar and pastor Harvey what we wanted to and that's usually in counseling uh she's pouring out her soul but what that really means he marked her mouth Mitsy he came and stared at her face and you know what he said does anybody remember what he said in First Samuel chapter one how long you gonna be drunk woman that's what he said can I tell you that it's a problem that Eli had not seen anybody pray that hard in the church for so long that he could not recognize it I said I believe it is a problem that Eli walked into a room of the church and she was so deeply engrossed in prayer that he could not identify with that let me pause and ask this question to our generation that sets before before us right now if our forefathers walked in tonight would they recognize Pentecost that's quiet that must be right would they recognize what they gave everything they had for when they were ostracized and alienated and beaten and abused for the gospel of Jesus Christ would they walk into our generation and say they loved it every bit as much as we do can I Commission us just like Hannah that if we are ever going to really develop and conceive things in our generation it will not be done separate from prayer the same way that it always has been in fact I would submit to you tonight that if we have ever needed a praying generation we need that generation to uprise right now in 2018 if we've ever needed young men and young women that know how to get ahold of the throne room of God we need it here and we need it now if we've ever needed young men and young women had know how to get in the presence of God and move things for the kingdom we need that [Applause] pouring your soul out before God Eli looks at her face how long will you be drunk put away the strong drink from you and she said now I'm pouring out my soul before God and his response watch this his response was well then you'll have it as soon as she said it as soon as he got watch this because it's important girls helped me right here guys help me right here she's in this that's what she was doing Bible says she was moving when he came in she was moving her mouth but not even saying any words you need to get to a place where you're so deep in prayer you don't have the utterance and all he had to say was then it'll be done for you and she did she got up and left because when you get a word from God when you get a word I wish I could get some help in here right now when you get a word from God I don't care how barren you feel I don't care how lost your family is I don't care how dark your school is I don't care how bad your last year has been when you get a word from God there's not a bully at your school there's not a situation in your life there's not a sickness in your body there's not a doctor's report so grave even there is not a devil in hell that has authority hovers somebody that pours out their heart and gets a word from I wish somebody would get a word tonight if you get a word you don't care if your neighbor responds you don't care if your youth group lives righteous you don't care if anybody I got a word from God nobody else has to dance nobody else has to shout I got a word from God I got a word that everything is gonna be alright high-five your neighbor and tell them you ought to get a word from God when you get a word from God nobody's got to convince you to worship I said when you get a word from God nobody has to pat you on the back and tell you how you're doing good just hang in there you know when you get a word from God you could care less because you've got a word and you're on a mission and your kingdom mine because I've got the word from God now watch this the Word of God came through the man of God if you do get a word from God it'll be validated by the man of God in your life now those amens weren't as strong right there he'll validate it I got a word from God pastor what is it I'm supposed to marry him if the pastor says I didn't get that word sometimes well I just be all open here sometimes there's an author of confusion that'll try to speak and so you got to be tuned in to know what God's voice sounds like and it'll be validated by the man of God in your life who is a Watchmen on the wall and is guarding for your soul son I didn't say a man and so she goes home Hannah gets to go home and the Bible says that she did in fact conceive she had a word from God she conceived in her Barren womb all of a sudden he's not barren there's a little baby boy she told Eli she told the Lord if he gives me gives me baby boy I'm just gonna give him back imagine this she's been bearing all these years prayed and sought God only to have a promise given that she didn't get to keep the reason some of us in here still don't have our ministry it's because he doesn't feel like we'll give it back there are young men in this room that could be the most powerful preachers in Australia but the reason that your ministry can't be birthed is because you still can't get ego out so word from God for somebody in this room right now she carried it for nine months one of the most incredible things after my wife has had each of our children one of the things she tells me that she'll miss is feeling the child move inside her womb the connection that happens between a mother and a child that moving on the inside that carrying it before that's why it's the reason I think Mary was the greatest validation on the day of Pentecost because when the Holy Ghost was poured out she was the only one that had had him inside before she bears the child and Samuel is born and when her husband is going she says no no no I can't go yet he's not weaned I haven't the child hasn't grown to the place of mature Asian yet he's he's not at that place but she doesn't have long she only has a few years or so that she has him and then the Bible says that she brings him to the temple imagine this she's barren then she conceives it's a miracle the family dances they throw a party it was a major celebration when a woman became pregnant its acknowledged not only is she having a child she's having a man child she is being brought into the lineage of prophetic promises it's being poured out everyone knew that Hannah could have no children but her testimony was that I've prayed and so she bears the child she has it they shower him with gifts they celebrate but all in the back of her mind knowing he's not the most powerful things will always be the things which are not there is no gifting that really is yours for every good gift and every perfect gift cometh down from the Father of lights and whom there is no variableness neither shadow of turning and after this period of years everybody say years that's right it was years she walks to the temple and she's carrying Samuel probably just holding his hand at this point as he's walking alongside and comes to Eli now you have to imagine this with me young men she brings him to Eli and and here you you got to understand that that there's this little boy looking up at his mama this is all that he's ever known he he has been close enough to nurse from her she has been his substance she's been his life but the reality is before he ever drew his first breath outside of her womb she had already given him to the service of the Lord and so I see a small hand clutching to the hand of a mother and mom is saying here and pushing him towards Eli and I can see that I can see small tears and the little whimpers as mom begins to walk away and I can hear samuel crying after her and and this you have to understand we look at it and romanticize the scripture but the reality is this must have been a devastating scene Samuels brought in and begins to draw close to Eli and now he's not spending any time around this man he's not spend any time around this priest who had sons of his own and if you read the story about Eli you know that his sons were allowed to get away with stuff that would literally come to the downfall of his entire ministry and so not only am i leaving him I'm not leaving him in the care of a man but I'm leaving him in the care of God because I believe in the church this much and the ministry and the calling and so she leaves him there with Eli and he spends every day with Eli everybody say every day now I've only been preaching for about 15 to 20 minutes and you've heard my voice come how many of you have heard this and seen this and done this before okay I want everybody to close your eyes around this room everybody close your eyes no cheaters okay now we're gonna say we're gonna say line Pastor Harvey can tell us pastor Harvey we help me tell me tell us what to say and hand the mic to one of us you keep your eyes closed and you got a shout out which one of us it is that's talking okay many of you have done this maybe before here we go god is awesome god is awesome Sam you where are you Samuel where are you okay open your eyes pretty simple right I've been I've been preaching to you for 20 minutes some of you never heard me before you can recognize my voice you can understand my accent you understand that in this area in this region they traveled far enough to that there was a difference in tone difference in enunciation different in the way that the voice sound the Bible says that when the lamp of the Lord had went out which brought to the Ark of God it brought darkness to the temple please catch this God calls to them and Samuel runs in multiple times to Eli God was not intimidated to allow his voice to sound like the voice of Samuel pastor it was close enough that he could run in and I've always been mesmerized by that but more importantly and recently I've become mesmerized by the fact that there was darkness in the temple I try to pray as my devotion every morning I try to walk through the tabernacle and try to come to the menorah does everybody know what the menorah is the lamp stand it's got a main base and it's got the six that come out off of it and it's the thing that gives light to the holy place I try to pray each morning and I want to give this to you and and we might touch on this tomorrow we'll see I'll give you a cliff notes right here I try to pray every day with a Greg that God would give me structure and oil if all I have is oil but no structure the oil has no way to facilitate for life but if all I have is structure and no oil then what good am I for the kingdom of God businessmen all over your town have structure but they don't have oil we've got to have both structure and oil and the lamp had gone out and there was darkness but watch this in the darkness he gets up and runs to where he'll is no problem okay I need a volunteer I need one young man and one young lady that will come up and help me out just come up first guy and first lady that will come up here come with expedience here's one in the pink shirt we have a mail we need a female come on girls you ain't foolin nobody come on it's like you acting like you don't like pizza until nobody's come on come up here come on up on the platform I hope this is okay okay all right you're gonna go first put this blindfold on you we're gonna set some obstacles up in front of you okay just gonna take my liberty okay kind of guiding right here okay turn towards me what's your name Jaden Jaden all right Jay Jay well that was okay right how bad that here's what the Lord dealt with me about Pastor Harvey he jumped up in the dark and rant Eli you called me boss I didn't I didn't call you go lay down everybody say good lay down he ran all the way back to his quarters and got into his room and laid down and again Samuel runs in yeah yeah what you you called me right I didn't call you boy sends him back this happens multiple times and I've always been enamored by the fact that that that Samuel mistake God's voice for Eli's but it's never bothered me until two weeks ago when the Lord showed me be bothered by the fact that he knew how to get around in the church in the dark but did not know my voice be bothered that he knows how to tiptoe around he knows where every obstacles that he knows to get through it the lamp has gone out doesn't need any light to see and runs right into where Eli's out he's able to maneuver himself in the darkness of the church never recognizing that he's lost the whole time hear me right now if we are not careful we know exactly how to manufacture services where we have our movement through the church we know the songs that move us we know the we know the way to preach now listen I preach enough camps and conferences I know how if I say a verse like this or if I talk but if I get up on the chair and if I begin to breathe and we think oh his voice he's really that's as if we can make the Word of God any more powerful than it is by the way the inflection of our voice and I'm not diminishing it because God uses the foolishness of preaching but I will tell you this if we're not careful we'll just clap because we're primed to clapping and we'll lift our hands because we'll respond and we're no better than Samuel running through the church in the darkness but here's what God is calling for in our generation not just do you know how to have church do you know what the voice of God sounds like do you know the voice of God in the stillness of the night do you know the voice of God that's calling on you in this dinner young man and young lady hear me right now if we've ever needed you to accept your call to ministry it is right now we need preachers like we have never needed preachers before we need missionaries in Australia and New Zealand and Queensland and Perth we need you right now I know we need missionaries other countries but we need you to be a missionary to your city it's too quiet I'm gonna preach that till everybody agrees with that right there we are never gonna reach Sydney unless our young men and our young women we're never gonna reach New Zealand unless our young men and our young women we're never gonna reach person less our young men and our young women we've got to have revival on our universities we've got to have revival in our primaries we've gotta have revival but we cannot have it if we cannot know the voice of go [Applause] so when God called his only response was this yeah pastor I didn't say anything pastor I don't know his voice so unless you have a good prayer life I can't have anything Oh for the day when our young men a young Messiah are there any young men any young lady said are seeing visions in this day and age that you're hearing the voice of God let me ask you this if we showed up tonight and there was no good music and we didn't have these great praise singers and was it sister Victoria our Veronica if she wasn't up here and we didn't have these great lights would he still be worthy of the very best that we have come on would he still be worthy of the very best that we can possibly give him would he still be worthy of our young men and our young women falling on our faces and saying take the whole world but give me Jesus take the we'll take the popularity take the fame not my will but I will not what I want but what you want I don't want to be lost in the charts I don't want to know my way around the mechanics of the building but not know the sound of his voice I want you to throw your hands towards heaven he Italian adorable Cohutta I want every young man here's the way I'm gonna say it hold on I want you to receive instruction if you're serious about living for God young men or young ladies I'm speaking to our youth and young adults if you're serious about living for God I want you to stand to your feet and I want you to lift your hands if you're not serious I want you to stay seated and I'm not marking you God is I want you to lift your hands and I'm gonna give you instruction in a moment but I'm gonna ask you to Thunder in prayer I'm gonna ask you to lift your voice crazier than anybody would at a footy game I'm gonna ask you to lift your voice stronger than you have in quite some time at church I'm not asking you to be rambunctious I'm not asking you to run aisles I'm not asking you to dance I'm asking you to pray and ask God that you could know his voice come on lift your hands by the authority of the word of God and the power of the name Jesus Christ I pray that she would open up our ears I pray that you would open us up to hear what the Spirit is saying in agreement with the word of God he that hath an ear to hear let him hear what the Spirit is come on that's it I want you to pray I want you to call on the name of Jesus let me know your voice Oh God let me have a revelation from the throne room don't speak to my neighbor and not to me let me know your voice Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya some of your feeling clarity right now you're accepting your call to ministry right now I want the junk out of my life I want the sin out of my heart so that I can hear from God I want that music out of my ear canal so that I can hear from God I want that out of my mind so that I can focus on the world of [Music] come on I got a simple question how bad do you want it how bad do you want to hear from God pray like your family depends on it pray like your friends depend on it pray like your ministry is contingent upon it [Applause] [Music] come on that's it somebody's getting a word right now for your family I want you to hear that word when you hear it I want you to begin to say Amen come on I want you to begin to say amen to the word I I receive it [Music] huh [Music] yeah yeah yeah come on just a minute more before we go any further lift your voice Jesus haha [Applause] [Music] come on we got to pray not only until some things are conceived but we got to pray until some things are birthed want something it's come on 1 Samuel is birthed you will not be able to stop it you will not be able to afford him you'll have to let that ministry develop and let that ministry go to your ambition and feed the call of God kill your ambition and feed the call of cop [Music] Holland oyez oyez come on some of you spiritual maturity is happening come on lift up your voice some of you don't normally pray like this but it's necessary right now you're cultivating you're allowing Samuel to grow come on spiritual maturity I don't want to just snow my way around the church I've got to know the voice of God what's he saying what's he's speaking speak Lord your servant is listening speak oh god your young men are listening speak oh God your young ladies are listening speak oh god Australia is listening New Zealand is listening come on from every city every zip code represented every school if you if you feel any call to ministry and we're gonna get more specific in a few minutes but if you feel a call towards ministry I want you to come out of your pews and come down to the front and I'm not trying to exclude anybody I'm just on a mission in our generation if you feel a call to ministry in any area don't you dare let anybody hold you back I want you to step out of your pews and come I'm not calling anybody your password will do the confirming God will do the speaking but I'm here on purpose to pray for some folks didn't it amazing when one or two starts coming it's like the dam bursts and everybody feels like they can come come come close all the way tight come tight all the way to the front there's a lot that are supposed to come young men and young women across the front of this building I commissioned you in the Holy Ghost I commissioned you in the Holy Ghost to get a hold of God right now and to receive instruction from the Lord come on that's it come on that's it come on Hannah get into that place where your soul is made known before the Lord come on like he like I would say so be it so be it for you come on that's it come on come on that's it I want you to get deep into the come on deep into your soul right now come on deep into the recesses of who you are oh come on I wanted to be stirred up deep inside of who you are those in the audience I want you to stretch your hands store them right now [Music] [Music] you feel a call to ministry and I'm not doing anything because this is a telling moment this is a telling moment you're deciding right now whether you're going to know how to perform or how to pray you're deciding right now whether you're going to perform or pray you're deciding right now whether or not you genuinely want to know the voice of God [Music] teachers teachers you feel overwhelmed but you know you're called I want you to lift your hands and surrender that you feel overwhelmed but you know you're called the enemy's tried to beat you up mentally some of you have fought depression for the first time in your life over the last year or two don't know why you fought such a battle I've been fighting all kinds of desires dealing with things you never and you're
