foreign what's up gorgeous Gamers Defender here and welcome back to another video now I know you're particularly gorgeous today because we're going to be going over a support class right everyone loves them everyone needs them but not everyone wants to play them and today we're going to be going over Paladin we're going to be going over the advanced guides so that whether you're a new player or you've been playing one for a while and you want to improve we've got something for everybody right so yeah stick along follow with me as we go through the class okay so straight off the bat I want to talk about uh Paladin in general its role in traditional MMOs you might know a paladin as a Healer or maybe even sometimes as a tank it depends on the game really but let's talk about healers and supports in MMOs uh traditionally speaking they do a lot of heals uh they might do a lot of mitigating so there's a lot of Shields and they also tend to cleanse a lot right and they tend to stick to that role and then you might have a support in another role that's responsible for increasing party damage or decreasing the boss's damage or increasing the amount of damage it takes so it's weaker those kind of debuffs and Buffs tend to be a separate role from a Healer now lost lost Arc boils it down into one role and they call that the support role and there's only a few classes that can play it right now we have the Paladin and The Bard and later in 2023 we're going to be getting a specialist called the artist its name might change for the West not really too short yet but there's only three in the game as stands in Korea so the class is very very Niche and very pigeonholed into some of the stuff it has to do and it's highly desirable as a result because it's such a small fraction of the player base everyone wants to play damage dealers or gun Lancers or destroy you know they want to play something that has a little bit more versatility to it but that being said supports play a fundamental role in Lost Ark um that pretty much highly desirable in all endgame content especially in each party of four whether it's four man instance eight-man instance etc etc gvg or gve you know they tend to always want at least one in the group um and it's just one of those roles that not enough people play because there aren't that many options right now but also it's seen as less desirable and that that's okay because what what it means is that when you have a good support player you know they really really Shine the downsides to that are unfortunately because there are a lot less people playing supports at least on their Mains prices for good items can Skyrocket right and that that has two sides to the coin is that if you're starting a support player now or you're still trying to gear up your support character to be better you know you might end up having to Shell out a fortune but the other side to that coin is that if you are able to get to the end game content as a support you have the potential to turn over a lot of your gear or excess gear that you get into a lot of money so we can look at it from both sides of that and whether or not those kind of things interest you you know that might determine whether or not you want to play a support and that's fine you know it's not for everybody um it can be a little bit of a different pace from damage dealing a lot of people you know they want to be those those damage dealers with Glory um and they want to get the MVP for most damage or damage and stagger but actually I'd argue that you know a lot of the time supports do get MVP especially if they're having to do their role with 100 efficiency if you know players are making mistakes or players aren't using potions those kind of things so just bear in mind that you will get MVP just as much as other classes if not more if that's something that you know you're interested in and I mean aren't we all a little bit interested in MVP at the end of the day contraction as per usual with any build and this is where we can play around and have a look at all the numbers so let's start off with the engraving because that's the most important part of the the build of any build really is deciding which engraving you're going to go for and with Paladin there's only one real support option and that is blastora um and so we're going to be running this at maxed at level three uh in every build for support and what it does is it changes your holy Aura which is your your specialty gauge uh release okay so it changes that to add additional healing and damage mitigation which is huge um this is something you're going to be using as often as you can in in fights you're going to be planning it around burst phases around um stagger phases around keeping the party alive in high mechanically damaging phases of bosses it's basically the the bread and butter you know the life force of the Paladin okay so already what it does is it adds 10 of increased damage um to everyone that's in there so everyone needs to stand in there and whilst they're in there they're doing 10 more damage on top of everything else they're doing this now adds in 20 percent reduce damage uh taken and also restores two percent max HP uh everyone now seconds for the purpose of explaining the engraving for now running this uh at the stats we're choosing it's going to last approximately 17 seconds somewhere between 16 and 18 seconds and what that means is I'll put the numbers up on the screen for the maths we're going to be working it out it's 18 seconds divided by 1.5 okay because it heals every 1.5 seconds and then we times that by um by two because it's giving two percent HP and we come at something like 11 instances of heels times two percent so we're looking at about 22 of Max Health return to all party members whilst they're standing in the Holy area okay and it's so somewhere between 20 and 25 depending on how your your stats look at the end of the day you know when we had a bracelet into the equation with some specialization um or maybe you have higher stats than I do um it's going to heal for somewhere between 20 and 25 of Max HP to everyone in the group uh that's standing in the aura so it's huge right so not only is it increasing damage it's reducing damage taken it's healing it yeah it's huge it's um it's it's something you need to put up as often as you can and it's going to be something that a lot of people are going to be playing around as well Okay so we've covered the engraving right there's only one option now let's look at combat stats because combat stats are the most important part of any build in terms of making it work okay it's more important than additional engraving because it's more important than most of the skills you use it's more important than the cards you know it's the fundamental to build everything else on top of okay and right now the the viable option for Paladin is everything into swiftness and then on the necklace you add specialization okay so as it stands we should be getting around 1500 swiftness in your Relic armor or your legendary armor and then the rest of the necklace should be into specialization which can go up to 500 okay I've got a pretty cheap one here but you know as paladins you know everything's expensive so you just have to take what you can get for your build okay it's something to improve on down the line um so the reason we run such high swiftness over specialization right you might look at specialization and think well you just said everything is based around your holy Aura and building up your gauge which is called piety and then releasing it as often as possible right and that's what specialization does it increases the efficiency of how long the holy Aura lasts increases how quickly you generate it but actually the problem with the build of running High specialization is that Paladin's abilities are very heavy cooldown okay so you're going to be waiting a long time to use a lot of your abilities and that really really hurts Paladin in terms of its group Synergy you know you need to be giving out as much as you can to the group especially with your damage Buffs and debuffing the boss to receive more damage and you can't do that with full up time if you're running specialization so we have to opt for swiftness and there's ways that we can play to improve on the the gauge generation and that's something I'll cover a little bit later in the advanced build but for now just know that because of the heavy cooldowns we have to run swiftness as much as possible to have high up time on um on supporting the group okay and you'll understand once you start playing with the build why swiftness is so important if you were to come into triction and just put on a full specialization build with with a little bit of sweetness in the necklace you'd soon realize just how painful it is to to try and keep a rotation going for the group um with with maximum uptime okay all right well the combat stats are covered you know they're it's very straightforward you know you run a pet as well on top of your um your stats you run a swiftness pet because it's always going to be going off of 10 of your stat okay so you should always choose a pet based on your highest stat that you're wearing it doesn't just give you 10 flat it gives you 10 of what you've got so let's cover in Great Links now Engravings um is something that is fantastic with the support because you can actually kind of um pick and mix the way you want to build your support thought you know no two are going to be the same but we're going to cover the the most important three which you have to have is mandatory in any support build and the three we need are your class one so blessed aura or salvation depending on whether you're playing a Bard or not and then Awakening and expert I would say Awakening is more important than expert but they're both highly important okay Awakening is going to help you with your Awakening skill usage and the cooldown and the next book is going to help you with your healing okay it's especially important on Paladin because the Paladin is very very good at shielding and healing from the Shields and unhealing kind of over time with its uh auras so make sure that these three are always picked first before anything else okay if you if you have to pick an order you're going to go class engraving Awakening expert okay and then if we quickly just go over some of the optional ones as well you can choose so I in in personal preference order I would go with drops of ether okay drops of ether is fantastic um it is a quality of lighting but a group um just as you play when you're just connecting any of your abilities that do damage it's going to spawn um like an ether on the ground that the people can pick up and it has a chance to be any of the following up at them on screen so you can see that you know they're going to give you attack power to your group they're going to give you crit chance to your group they're going to give you defense or swiftness it's it's incremental in a lot of people's builds to go and grab that ether and bump up their [ __ ] Island for example so if they're heavily reliant on running uh attack power maybe they have lower crit chance then they're going to love having the deck stand on top of all the other Synergy in the group so drops of ether is my personal preference in b being top tier and then number two is Magic stream and you could even say this is number one right with Paladin just because of the extreme value that you get with this one you get the increased cooldown and you get the MB recovery you do have to learn uh to play better mechanically so I don't think that's a bad thing because it improves your your skill potential right you're having to learn mechanics to dodge hits so that you don't get the negative sites the drawbacks from this engraving that in my opinion is the potential for the top engraving on extending uh for Paladin but I think because of the drawbacks drops of ether is just a guarantee all the time with huge Synergy for the party okay okay and then the next one uh would be explosive expert I know you're probably thinking there are other ones that you prefer and that's fine but explosive expert for me I feel has a lot of value and support um supports a role particularly isn't just grinning through your abilities it's actually a lot more than that in my opinion um I think that battle items are probably one of the most uh under underutilized parts of the support the support should be responsible for applying the dark grenades applying the corrosives cleansing the party with secret charms um you know it's it's one of the more important aspects of a lot of boss fights and I feel like you don't want to be running out of grenades okay especially if you're looking at something like hell mode where your battle item is extremely important um the party can't necessarily all afford to run dark grenades to apply to the boss to increase its damage taken so maybe having explosive expert means that you can run three extra grenades for example and then it allows someone else to take like a whirlwind or um or a destruction bomb for example and that that changes the fight a lot in some of the Hell mode instances so it's just something to consider down the line it's actually a very underutilized one okay but the the standard uh that I would go is drop Savita and then explosive expert another very popular one on Paladin um and then you I'll end I'll explain why uh because it's very understandable it's vital hit point and what vital hit point does is it just increases the Stagger um effectiveness of your abilities and you're going to be using a couple of high stagger abilities in either of your builds um and it doesn't just affect the Stagger window of a boss it also affects the Stagger bar below the health so when they just generally get staggered outside of your stagger windows so that's also a really really good one um just because it adds more utility to a fight in terms of the boss being down longer or more often and also helping put the Stagger checks when maybe you're divided into smaller groups or or you're just playing a four man okay so that's another one I would say is number three in priority a again these are personal flexibility you can put any of these in any order after the three main okay and then the next one I would say that you could choose and then the last two I want to cover are so max MP increase I don't think this is necessarily that important just because you can play around your MP recovery I'd rather say magic stream than this just because it helps with getting it back you don't necessarily need a larger pool you just need to get it back quicker I think the pool is large enough if you play around it but that is another option if you find that the prices are too high for example with the build or if you find that when you're playing you're just going through Mana way too quickly and you don't necessarily have all the legendary runes to reduce the costs on some of your abilities okay and then lastly everyone's favorite but also the most memed is heavy armor now on Paladin you don't really need heavy armor just because Paladin has a higher eh people than a lot of other classes you know if you're playing a Bard then you're probably going to think about it if you're playing an artist you know which isn't out yet but it will be down the line heavy armor is very very useful just because they're so much squishier than a paladin but again heavy armor isn't a bad choice it will keep you alive longer and the longer the support is alive the longer he can help the group with healing mitigations Shields more damage you know the longer the sport is like the better your your run will be so if you're still learning and maybe or you're on a budget for example and this is the best you can do heavy armor is absolutely fine okay Okay then if we talk about gems gems is really really easy on the Paladin um and actually on on all supports in general the only thing that really matters for them is running cooldown gems okay and so if we take a quick look all I've got here is just the eight cooldown gems for the eight abilities I use you could additionally add in three more gems for cooldowns of other abilities that you'd like to swap in for example you could change the the debuffing ability that you have on the bus uh you could change that from what I've got here sort of Justice you could add light shocking instead so that you when you want to change to light shot because it's quicker to apply or has a lower cooldown you have that gem ready it doesn't mean re-rolling a gem to suit your needs or alternatively you can run three damage gems um for the three abilities you know that you're using most often so holy sword and executor sword a great tab damage gems for but again not needed and then you could add in one for light of judgment or Heavenly blessing for example or sort of justice but again that's just the quality of life thing they're not necessarily important prioritize eight cooldown gems for the eight abilities you're using and it's that simple really um in terms of importance I would say the cooldown importance is Heavenly blessing and then wrath of God because they're both applying your uh your buff to the party and it has more than just buffing damage effects to the tripods so it's important to get those up at 100 efficiency okay holy protection would be next because your Shield is really really important for the group with the tripod builds they're going to be having extra move speed they're going to be having a heal after it expires and just having the shield up more often is more beneficial in your rotation to keep people alive it's it's a really really really crucial get out of jail uh ability for a lot of people in the party and then next I would probably say to add godsend law so that's number four would be godsend law and that's just because this ability is uh well it's in insanely overpowered um if you know what to do with it now it doesn't have tenacity like the bad or the artist does in terms of getting knocked back so you are susceptible to a knockback but if you time it right and you're standing with the group you know you can mitigate 70 of damage on everybody in that Circle and that is phenomenal you know then all you have to do is deal with the knot back afterwards which you know if you have your your stand-up space bar then you're okay if not you know need to make sure you understand the mechanics but yeah it's extremely extremely important you you know you're going to get knocked back but you're still going to have that shield for that one second so having this cool down up as often as possible is really really important so that's number four and then after that it's really flexible you know uh run a cooldown for the ability that adds the the debuff to the boss um so you're going to be looking for something with lights Vestige I'll go through that in the in the skills but but life's Vestige sorry life's Vestige is going to debuff the boss to take 10 more damage so having a cooldown for that up is really really important because it it needs to be 100 essentially and every ability that runs it can have 100 uptime um but just making sure just in case maybe you're getting um uh staggered when you're using the ability and it doesn't go off or maybe you get knocked back when you're using the ability or maybe you miss the ability right the boss moves just having it back up as soon as possible to apply that debuff is crucial so that could be number five but it's not necessarily important for it to be the number five priority okay and then just the the two punishment skills having their cooldowns is really important just because they're both counter abilities um and they both have good stagger to them so just making sure that you have those available in situations when you need them is crucial uh so for example voltan for example supports are generally accepted to be the countering uh part of the party during the ghost phase so there might be an instance where two uh two of Bolton clones are up on the sides of the map and you need to be able to you know stack a count of one and then go over and have another counter available for the next one within a few seconds so having called answer both of those really really crucial so you might want to consider adding those as number five and six in the cooldown priority of your gems as you go along but yeah generally speaking all cooldown prioritize your Buffs first and then your Shields and then after that it's it's up to you really okay Okay then if we just lastly quickly look at cards cards is something that you all improve as you go along so don't necessarily feel like you have to rush into this because it's uh heavily Reliant around Gamba what you pick up from instances um the drop rates on bosses or from card packs you know it's very situational so some of you might already have um high high card Awakenings on some some of you might not have any at all in others now as you can see I've not leveled any of these up here this is just your budget friendly beginners cards to run on on a support so you want higher HP and higher HP helps with the healing it helps with the shielding okay it's the way to start any of your card builds okay and then after that the other cards that you can play into are lost wing Cliff set so lost when Cliff set is the the best card pack you can have on on a support and what it does is going to increase uh the holy damage of your party uh by three percent okay and and that might that might sound strange but for anyone that knows the best endgame card set for almost every other every other class and every other build for other classes is going to be the light of Salvation so so they're going to be doing holy damage as a result because what that does is it changes that person's damage type to Holy and then as the set Awakening goes up increases that damage so they're going to be dealing exclusively wholly damage with all their abilities because it gets changed and also um it's going to go up so what you want to do is you want to be providing more holy damage as a result and that comes from a 30 piece Awakening so it's it's a little bit expensive in terms of the best slot but it is it is the best slot for a reason um you need to have all six cards and they all need to be maxed on their Awakening and that's going to increase everyone else's uh damage by 3.5 percent hypothetically uh if they're running a light of starvation and they've got 18 plus okay so that's something to consider down the line that that's the best in slot pack I would say up until then though you're going to be wanting to run um the the field Boss 2 set which increases the max HP all right so let's talk about the the advanced build then so the advanced build um is preferable to move on to from the beginners as you're playing for a couple of reasons so firstly um we're not just going to be relying on the heavy swiftness um so the swiftness is still needed so you do need to have maximum swiftness where possible but the reason this build is more advanced it's because we're looking at faster gauge generation right so your piety is quite slow if you're just using your abilities generally speaking but actually playing around this this way you're going to be going to be building up a lot quicker you're going to be using your Awakening a lot more which means more Shields and also a free gauge building and and lastly you know we're going to be using a trick with conviction and judgment right so um so let's talk about uh why these are so good so firstly because we're running Awakening um on our Engravings maxed out we're going to be wanting to use uh Awakening it as often as possible generally speaking you're going to have around 90 to 100 second cooldown on your Awakening if you're running a Swift build with decent Swift status with pets and your main engraving being Awakening on your build so that's quite a long time in terms of a fight you know you might not get a chance to use all of your Awakenings that you have available and so one of the tips we can use is conviction and judgment and if you don't know what condition and judgment are I'll quickly cover it but there are many tools on the internet to find out how it how it works but basically we're going to be using two abilities that have a lot of damage procs which mean they can proc both conviction and judgment conviction is your first uh procking buff and it's going to appear on your buff bar and it basically means once this is up if the second one which is Judgment from another ability procs it's going to overwrite it it's going to give you extra 100 of your specialty generation so your gauge your piety for example is going to be increased by 100 and you're also going to have an additional 15 cooldown uh on your skills during that window so during it's quite a small window but during that small skill window you can can actually take advantage of that and use your Awakening you could use your damage Buffs using your heavy cooldown abilities if it works in the rotation and then that way you'll have more of those available as well as more specialty generation so for example I'll just show you how it works so I've got two abilities with conviction and judgment there's conviction then if you put on judgment for example then judgment is up and what that does is you can see school cooldown and recovery and so if I was to to run a conviction and judgment and use my Awakening you'll see the difference in the cooldown and also it just means that you can save it for specific instances because you know you can use it more often so you'll learn boss fights and you'll learn when it's really crucial to to provide it and it actually means in some instances you can provide it for every single time that mechanic happens but yeah you'll learn as you play but I'll just quickly show you the difference in the cooldown alright so we're going to proc eviction judgment I'm gonna use our Awakening okay and also if you just have a quick look at the piety gauge generation which is huge so it's an extra 15 off of the the hundred and uh 100 100 seconds or the 95 seconds uh roughly which is whatever you might have already on on your Awakening skill all right so it's huge it's also using a lot of DPS classes but it has such a high value on the support class all right so let's look at the advanced build and we'll talk about the the abilities that we're running maybe some Alternatives that you might want to choose instead um but yeah let's get right into the combat skills and so if we look at the combat skills here we can take away some points just so that it's more easily accessible for people and so right now we've got a 300 384 skill points so if you have around that then you're good to go anything over that you can put it into doing more damage the 384 being the base to provide level 10 on all the abilities okay I'll put an infographic up on screen and it'll be in the link in the description below to click on it and it'll give you um a full image of the full combat uh skill spread and the tripods that you want to go for and the runes to equip the rotations the ingredients to everything it's just a cheat sheet basically for you to uh to take away with you and follow when you're building um but yeah we'll quickly go over the skills so the first one we have is Holy sword holy sword is uh your counter it's a dis it's a range counter you know you can actually run it so that you can use it from farther away you don't need to necessarily have an enemy uh hit by immediately with the tripods we're going to run so yeah it's a counter good stagger um and uh relatively good damage okay so we're gonna be running the tripods for this we're going to be running a one one two and what that means it's going to be quicker to cast and you can cast it without actually hitting an enemy then it'll still go off okay I'm just going to leave um some light on the floor so that it can counter still okay remember honey protection and they're going to be running a three one two split on this now this can be tweaked slightly um you can you could necessarily change it to having a longer Shield okay or you could have um a mortgage generation but generally speaking you want to have a cleanse on on the shield okay and then we'll go on to uh next which is execute a sword and we're going to be this is this one is slightly flexible as well we're going to be running a three one one split you might want to change it to be a one one one or a three one two okay so I've leveled up the tripod here because I used to prefer running executionist strike but that is the option I'm going with at the moment for weak point damage movement and a wider spread counter and then we get into the important ones that are still going to be in the build no matter what and that is wrath of God and that is one of your damage Buffs okay I'm winning it with more faith generation um we're going to be giving the party a damage buff and also Heavenly blessing again is the same as the The Beginner's build we're going to be running the 331 build and that is going to be uh running with more uh piety Generation Um giving you the damage buff still and also giving MP recovery for everyone in the group which is very important for some of the builds okay and then the last last few want to go over is godsend law okay we're running one one one and that is the um kind of high mitigating damage ability you know you get everyone to group up you put it down on the floor while you're casting and it's going to reduce damage taken by 70 with this tripod okay so really really important and then the last two which make this build so unique are light of judgment a lot of judgment is um High gauge generation ability with a decent cooldown decent range and it just feels good to cast you want to try and use this as often as you can really to help get your your holy Aura out and then the debuffing like I talked about earlier with lights Vestige Sword of Justice is the one we're going to go for and this is because of conviction and judgment which I'll talk about a little bit later when we're going through the rotation and why it's Advanced but Sword of Justice is going to be dropping damage over time ability on the boss and it's also going to be debuffing the boss with the the tripods one one one okay so lights lights Vestige is going to be making the boss take 10 more damage and it's going to be dropping um with dazzling sword over time okay for three seconds and that's also helpful because it keeps applying that debuff until the last tick which then sets a whole new refresh of the debuff up before you then stop using the ability okay so we're going to be using more range um the cooldown is going to be a little quicker and we're also going to be dropping uh additional ticks of it to increase uh the duration of the debuff all right so that's all the skills that's all the tripods now the runes are quite important okay and you might not have all of these yet you might not have all the legendary ones you might not have um the same amount of each one so just work with the best version you have of those available so let's start with the the the Stagger encounter abilities you want to run overwhelm on both of these whether or not you have the highest one available or not that's okay just run the highest uh stagger overwhelm runes that you have and then if we look at Holy protection holy protection is a little bit flexible you might want to run Gale wind on this one right there is no other girl wind ability being used so you could run your higher scale wind on holy protection and that's just to ensure that you get the ability off but generally speaking Focus Rune will do this one best just because of the high cost of the ability if you if you can play a little bit at range and you play safely you'll have no issue with this being interrupted because the cast time isn't that slow just get used to it okay and then if we move on to the two Buffs we're going to be running the purple wealth on both of the two Buffs that you're going to be using and that's just because they generate a decent amount of piety for you but there is still a better option to use for the legendary version so purple wealth on both of the Buffs and then the legendary version of wealth you want to run on light of judgment now light of judgment we're going to be running a faith tripod on this one and it's basically your your filler your spam filler with a decent cooldown to help generate piety as much as possible and that's why this one gets the the legendary wealth Rune and then the last two that we're going to run are conviction and judgment and this is on Sword of Justice and God sent law now they both have multiple instances of procking damage on a boss and that's why we run conviction and judgment with them because conviction and judgment work best on abilities that do multiple instances of damage to increase the odds of it procking so yeah if you have the legendary version of them then run them if you don't just use the best version that you have available and if you don't have them at all then they are available in strongholds a lot of people if you talk in area chat or if you go to the stronghold and talk in the stronghold area chat they will have it available that's the that's the quick spread for the advanced build um so I think I said 384 skill points roughly is what you need if you don't have that you can take away points from the blue abilities for example you could take this down to level seven which only takes away the the varying ability on the the type of attack you end up doing and that's still viable and you can also take away points from this one as well all right that again I wouldn't recommend taking away points from this just because of uh the extra utility ads all right so let's put this point back in and I'll quickly show you how it works all right so let's have a look at the advanced rotation show you what it looks like in play and how much piety you generate and how quickly and what it would look like in an optimal situation with conviction and judgment procking so what I'll do is I'll just get rid of this piety so you can see how quick it is what we want to do is if we're wearing the the yearning set um in any degree at all and we have the the four piece or the six piece and then we want to start with an ability that gets that buff active for the group immediately and the best way to do that is from range we want to use our Sword of Justice which is going to apply the debuff to the boss as well as giving us the the yearning buff for the group around us right so we're going to open with that we're going to move in and then we're going to start our buff rotation into hopefully conviction and judgment so debuff range okay and we didn't get the conviction in time so hopefully we're going to get it again before the other one expires and then we can pop Heavenly blessing and then go straight into our Awakening and as you can see that gives us a full piety meter immediately um if you have high tripods then it's even gonna it's gonna be even quicker but my tripods are I think level three or four in the faith aspects so the generation is slightly slower than someone with Max tripods but that would be the immediate rotation okay and then you have an 80 shield for the team immediately you have your aura are ready to use if you need to and you've also got a debuff on the boss as well as your swamp set your swamp of Yearning set active for people around you so you're ticking all the immediate boxes for an instance uh to keep all of your utility on for for the team and after that first rotation so you've just done your Awakening you've got the shield on everybody your heavenly blessing has just gone up and it's probably going to expire you then start the rotation Again by going into a debuff on the bus keeping that up at all times as you can see it has 10 seconds so you've got plenty of time with this ability to hit it twice to keep the debuff going before it expires and we want to make sure we're always overwriting that okay but we want to also make sure that we're never overwriting this buff with another one of the abilities okay because the cooldowns are so um tight that we don't want to overwrite them we just want to make sure that the uptime is as close to 100 as possible so as we're saying we would have the aura ready for if we need it for a mechanic if we don't need for a mechanic then we can just use it as and when we need to if the boss is staggered or if a boss is static and our team can damage more effectively then that's the best time to use it or if we know we need to protect our team with the mitigating damage and the slow healing we can use that as well but just having it available immediately is the best option okay and obviously the longer we hold on to it the less value we're getting from it so if you find that you're holding on for it for two you know two minutes or a minute or so it's best to just use it because you'll have another Awakening up to generate your piety again before that period so don't feel like you can't use your Awakening more often purely because with the Awakening engraving you're going to have about I think it's really six chances to awaken I could be could be wrong it could be seven sorry six let's say six Awakenings you can use in a fight so that's almost six entire full of gauges that you're going to be able to do as well as in between each one you're going to be able to generate a full gauge with your abilities with all the cooldowns going off a lot quicker you're going to be able to generate another one or two holy auras in between the Awakening as well so if we say each Awakening plus the rotation in between is maybe two to three holy auras you know in a fight that we use all of our Awakenings that's potentially uh 12 and 18 holy auras in in a fight and that's just in that period of say 10 minutes or up to 10 minutes in a fight so it's a lot of chances for a lot of auras and a lot of big shields right 80 Shields and damage mitigation as well as damage Buffs okay so let's let's say we've just done our first rotation we ended on Heavenly blessing Heavenly blessing is about to expire okay we've come out of our Awakening as that's expiring we're replaying the debuff on the bus which is spending some Aura and as that's expiring we're putting another one up okay and then we're just keeping the debuff up on the boss if we know we don't need any counters okay or stagger checks then we can use our abilities as and when we see fit and then we're putting up that buff again as soon as it's off cooldown as long as it's not overwriting um the one from wrath of God okay and we're going to keep going applying the debuff again and as that comes off playing it again now the thing with conviction and judgment is it's going to come up more often um than Heavenly blessing or your Awakening will need it but you need to be careful not to just proc judgment every time you see it right so let's say heavenly blessing is on cooldown so is your Awakening but you pop conviction you don't want to be pop rocking judgment because you're going to need it again the next time your heavenly blasting is up for optimal rotation so in this case we would just let conviction time out and we wouldn't use godsend law if we needed to use it on an ally we would do our best to make sure that we're not damaging the boss to the side so that we don't proc judgment because if we do it has an internal cooldown that we're waiting to get back before we need it again and if it doesn't come back before having the blessing comes up or your Awakening comes up and you have to use those in the rotation then it's going to start pushing back the efficiency of your rotation if you understand what I'm saying so as the efficiency gets pushed back it has a knock-on effect continually and as a result you might get a two to three less holy auras in a fight or you're going to have even more downtime in your damage Buffs for the group and it just has exponential um implications that we want to try and avoid obviously no fight is going to have a perfect scenario so you just do your best but just be aware of how when that happens you can improve in the future okay and then if we were to go through a rotation where we're not getting a conviction and judgment to proc at the start so we can't just use our Awakening immediately it would look something along the lines of this so we'll just get rid of our piety and I'll show you how quickly you can still get it without relying on conviction and judgment because it's at the end of the day conviction judgment is RNG yes we're doing the best in our abilities to make sure we can control it and get the most likely outcome of having it but it is still RNG at the end of the day so we opened up with the debuff as we go in we're going to buff our team and we're just going to DPS as we go okay applying the debuff every time we can to keep that timer up Heavenly blessing needs to go up now and we're just gonna keep applying our holy skills because they gain a lot of piety as we move if we need to Shield our team we can use our Shield don't always have to use conviction and judgment for the shield but it is nice when it has the option and as you see now we're going to be losing our damage buff and we still have a few seconds left before it's available but we want to use it as soon as we can and we're just going to keep the rotation going until we have our holy aura and it shouldn't take too long in an ideal situation but as we go we're just keeping everything maxed out and there we go we have our our holy Aura and we don't have to spend it immediately but the longer we hold on to it obviously the less value it has so try and find a scenario where it benefits everybody now I've talked about light's Vestige which is the debuff you apply on the boss and you apply that through uh three or four different abilities have the option to apply it okay and it's crucial to have that as uh up on the boss as as close to 100 as you can in any encounter okay that should be the second priority over everything else except for adding the the damage buff to your party okay so we need to make sure though because we're running conviction and judgment that we're timing this appropriately we have 10 seconds that it's up for on the boss and because of the way we're running the build the cooldown is around seven seconds with level 7 gems like we talked about so we have a window where we don't have to use this off of cooldown all the time for example because we know it's going to give us conviction most likely just because of the rapid amount of damage hits that it goes through if we know that Heavenly blessing isn't coming back half cooldown um for another seven seconds for example maybe we want to hold off on applying um sort of Justice to the boss for a few seconds so that it can time up properly with providing judgment to Heavenly blessing you don't want to apply judgment to wrath of God because it doesn't need it for the uptime it needs to be the Heavenly blessing because of the higher cooldown so say for example you have wrath of God up but Heavenly blessing isn't coming back up for a while okay so we'll wait for this to run out here and I'll show you wait for that to run out and then we're going to pop right God we know we don't have it for 10 seconds so putting it up early just means that conviction can end early or maybe if you brought judgment it can end early and you won't have the Judgment window ready for Heavenly blessing when it comes off cooldown so that's another factor to consider it's an advanced tip for the rotation the last thing you want is to have judgment up but it expire before Heavenly blessing is ready because that's going to have uh consequences for the next rotation as well because the next Heavenly blessing after is going to be even further away from being ready okay and then it just starts to have a chain reaction to the rotation of your your damage Buffs to the party so make sure that you're watching those Buffs it's really important that's why the the advanced rotation is more of a min max than the beginner build because you need to make sure that you're doing all the mechanics you're keeping everyone alive you're keeping all the damage Buffs up but you're also juggling this conviction judgment buffing which has an internal down as well which you need to keep aware of in your head as you're playing all right another another Advanced tip I would say is uh understanding when you can use your abilities right so holy protection has a lot of utility to it you know it has a cleanse it gives movement speed it heals after it expires it's great to use to mitigate damage because Shields are always better than healing right stopping damage in the first place is better than the healing someone up after they take damage because essentially what it can do is if we think about this being 20 on top of someone else's 100 that means someone can effectively take a hit for 119 of their health and survive whereas if we were to heal someone after they'd taken that 190 obviously they're going to die right so Shields are more important than healing but holy protection it does have a big cooldown even with conviction and judgment so you need to know when to use it right if you know there's downtime in between mechanics and you know that people need healing and your holy Aura isn't up and let's say it's not enough to Warrant them using a health pot then holy protection can be used to to time between mechanics to purposefully Inspire and heal someone right so they're going to get healed after the shield expires as long as there's some of the shield remaining so we need to make sure that they have no mechanics they're going to damage them in that time or at least the ability to to stay safe during those mechanics so maybe they're back attacking whilst the boss is doing the frontal breath or they're hiding behind something whilst the boss is doing a mechanic so they're safe we can use that so that they're healed up during the expiration of the shield and we're not going to have to worry about them losing the shield another um another option is with the speed that it gives you can time that around mechanics where say slower players that run specialization instead of swiftness for example or they're just a generally they're a low swiftness based class with low movement speed it's better to to give them that Shield so they have more movement speed during uh during a phase so for example volton in Gate two when he's going up in the air and you know there's Spears being thrown down some classes really struggle with that because firstly people don't communicate very well in terms of where they're going to stand and secondly if they're too slow they get hit by one they're probably going to get hit by the the following two three four Spears so having that as well as giving them a shield to protect them from that damage it's going to give them movement speed so they can do the mechanics better and safely also maybe they can't make it to a safe point in a mechanic it lets them catch up so yeah it's it's really important to to time the the shield around those multitude of factors okay so healing at the end of it mitigating damage that might be too much to kill instead of healing and thirdly the movement speed okay so just think about those elements of of The Shield because that's one of the more advanced ways to play around it and that's why we don't just Spam the the ability on cooldown when we have a conviction and judgment because we know we might need it for certain mechanics and that again comes down to knowledge of the encounters as well as learning the class and knowing how the the rotation works the second tip I want to talk about is the the gauge okay so holy Aura and the piety is well the the most important part of your your build really that's the whole reason it's an advanced build over beginner's build The Beginner's build can debuff uh the boss and buff your party with the tap power and shield it's not any different in that regard the difference is the speed of your specialty and your holy Aura so we need to think about because we're using such high faith building uh tripods you know we're spamming our abilities we're getting it up as quick as possible we don't want to be using our Awakening unless we have to when our gauge is high okay so before I'm not talking about whilst it's active because we definitely don't want to be using it whilst it's active but even when the gauge is high we don't want to be using our Awakening because our Awakening generates so much piety that it's a huge loss in terms of the uptime of holy Aura okay so here we can see our maybe like one or two abilities away from having our holy Aura ready however if I was to pop The Awakening instead because say conviction judgment was up and it just felt good to have it on a high a shorter cooldown that's actually going to hinder us because we're going to be losing a potential of at least two-thirds of a new piety meter from doing that okay so here if I just show you see there's one more hit and then we have the aura up also we definitely don't want to be using our Awakening during the aura just because whilst this is drained we're not going to be generating any at all so we're wasting two-thirds to three quarters of our piety meter generation because we can't gain any so that's even worse than using it when we have almost full bar and I'll show you just quickly so you can see how much you gain when you land a hit on the bus so we can see we're gaining about three quarters so two-thirds to three quarters of the piety bar um from our Awakening so it's really really crucial to time your Awakening um also around your gauge generation not just around mechanics or conviction and judgment yes there are two really important parts of the equation but also the gauge generation is I would say almost equally as important as those two not quite as important you know if there is a mechanic that you need to keep people alive through say two people fail the the QuickTime event on vicus because they're kumas then you're going to want to make sure that you're using your Awakening to keep people alive but at the same time just be aware that it's important not to use it just for the sake of taking advantage of your Advanced build but also to make sure you're getting the most out of the gauge generation okay and that's why another reason why this is more of an advanced build but we're just talking about the the punishment skills so the ones we're running they're both counters and they're both stagger abilities so yes they're good to use in between all your other cooldowns to weave in some extra damage but actually Paladin doesn't need to do damage okay hypothetically speaking the way that this class is designed and the way that it classes the design in the game you could do zero damage and as a group you would still be meeting the numbers fine as long as everyone else is doing their role okay the team shouldn't be relying on any damage numbers that you do at all you should just be providing the necessary mandatory Buffs debuffs and mitigating the the damage okay so you don't just want to be using your your two punishment skills off of cooldown because it's more important to time when you use those around counters and staggers okay a lot of the times just Whirlwind grenades aren't enough if everyone uses them you need to weave in some abilities as well and your your holy skills just aren't going to be doing enough stagger to be even relevant in the rotation for those windows however that being said if you know the boss has just been counted for example and they're not going to have another one anytime soon you you can weave in those abilities as well as knowing that there isn't a stagger check anytime soon as well you can use those abilities safely and freely in your rotation and they do help to generate certain piety so that's why running a level one judgment recruiter for later on an advanced tip I want to talk about that I don't think a lot of people really really uh talk about in the community is positioning now it might sound silly but positioning for a support is more important than any other class right hip master classes you can pretty much stand wherever you want right that's fine katakis and print attackers it's self-explanatory right for the most part you want to be behind or in front of the boss to do the optimal damage you can for your uh your skills now Paladin yes his abilities are back attack based now there aren't any um any changes that I'm aware of that are coming up but there were changes to make a little bit more back attack and I think that was to make its damage go up a little bit higher but actually you want to be positioning yourself somewhere on the side of bosses at all times now back attackers should be on the back but also towards you okay it's not just your responsibility to stand with the DPS it's their responsibility to stand with you as well okay well because of your your set as you increase in Relic gear you're going to be having an aura that increases their damage okay and their attack speed it's it's crucial for them to be inside the aura at all times as well as your holy the holy Aura as well okay so they need to be standing with you just as much as you need to be standing with them and the reason I say on the side is because almost exclusively every single raid will have some form of front attacker okay whether it's a gun Lancer or a destroyer there's there will most likely be especially in eight-man raids um a front attacker and it's important to not forget those front attackers because they do need your Synergy as well okay now both of these damage Buffs need to hit everybody in the party if you're standing behind your back attackers okay to support them because your abilities do have some range to them you know you don't have to stand right up against the boss you're going to be missing out on applying a lot of your Synergy to the front attackers and I see that so much in supports when I'm playing on my other classes that it needs to be addressed okay so you need to make sure your positioning is important if I'm standing somewhere like here on the side of the boss I can see the back attackers and front attackers are going to get the full effects of my auras my Buffs and also my drops of ether okay so I'm run I'm running drops of ether you can see one spawned here that's not too much of a discomfort for a front attacker to take a few steps to the side and go back okay or if it's for me I can grab it as well but also if it's a back attacker it's a little bit more work for a back attacker to grab that but actually it's worth it in the run in the scheme of things because we're applying Synergy to everybody okay and also a drop of ether shouldn't make or break another class technically speaking they're going to sit there more often than they're not because most people don't even bother to pick them pick them up okay or they don't know what they do you'll see that a lot as a support player as you play especially in Guardian rates people will just leave the ethers there even if you ping them make sure the positioning that you're you're playing around the group that you have if everyone's back attackers in your group that's fine you know you can still play to the side because of counter counter is just as important as your Synergy a lot of the time the blue window is big enough for you to Dash with your um with your spacebar get in front of the boss okay and because we're running two quick uh counters you're able to pop one of these off during that small window especially if you know the encounter okay so vikas for example in gate 2 shares a lot of indicators that she's going to do a counter actually the back charge or she'll do a kicking mechanic where she's doing spiral kicks throwing out energy at a person as they're moving and then you can know that at the end of that mechanic she's going to do a counter so as that mechanic is about to end you can jump in and counter okay and it's it's going to be in case of maybe the back attackers are going to be out of your Synergy for a few seconds but the best part of the Synergy is that the um the six piece set for example in the four piece set it lasts for 15 16 secs so it's going to stay on them for that time and it's just going to refresh next time you move back to them so you can afford to be away from them for for a period of time so make sure that you're understanding the role of the Paladin because positioning is crucial okay and that's everything we need to cover today so thank you
