have going on for you for today today I am bringing to you a Dollar Tree DIY using one of two items that the Dollar Tree is carrying I know that not everybody's Dollar Tree has the crafter square wood crafting items and so when I did this DIY I knew that it was such a cool DIY that I feel like so many of you would like and like to do that I needed to come up with an alternative way of doing it using something that I feel like most dollar trees would carry today's DIY I'm doing it using the wood Dwarfs that the Dollar Tree is carrying these are a smaller drawer they are embellished with this cutout of a flower a butterfly a heart these are amazing I love them as soon as I saw them I knew what I wanted to do with them and it is today's DIY what's great about using the woods wars if you can get your hands on them is not only are you gonna get one of today's DIY out of it but you're gonna get two because of the drawer you're gonna pick up six of the woods wars or six of these dice and you're gonna come craft with me and do this DIY that you are absolutely gonna love today's DIY is one of those DIYs that you can keep out all year that you're gonna be able to utilize and it's gonna change from season to season can't wait to show you what I have in mind for you using these wood tours or these dice so let's not waste any more time let me quit my Gabon and let's get into it alrighty so like I said with this DIY you're gonna need 6 of these drawers and because it has this drawer that comes out you're gonna get two of this DIY you're gonna get a larger DIY and a smaller one what's great is that because this drawer slides out I wanted to utilize it I thought that the bigger block was perfect for what I was gonna do but once I started I thought like heck I could totally make a smaller version of this with the drawer too and so I'm gonna be gifting the smaller set to a neighbor I'm not gonna paint these wood drawers I'm gonna use some of Waverly's wax antique this stuff is cool because it kind of acts like a stain and I've said that before it has such a deep dark rustic Brown I love it it's my favorite color and what I love about it is that it doesn't come out as a solid finish you can still see the wood grain in the wood which is something that I really like I feel like that really gives it even more of that rustic farmhouse feel and so you really only need one coat of this I'm going to do it on all 12 pieces the drawer itself which is the insert and this outer part that I'm doing here don't worry about painting the inside you really just want to do the sides the top and the bottom edge because the inside isn't going to show once these are good and dry you can just see the gorgeous color that this antique wax gives to raw wood like this like I said you can see on the bottom here that I didn't paint it but the sides here which are the four sides that we have this is what I'm gonna decorate and to decorate them I'm gonna be using scrapbooking paper if you want to use a fabric you can use a fabric the scrapbooking paper that I'm using today I'm going with four different coordinating set I'm going with kind of a winter set I'm going with a summer set here I also wanted to go with an autumn harvest type set and I guess a spring set as well for this Ottoman harvest set I am using this paper pack called the autumn splendor stack this was a five dollar stack that I got at Joanne's and for the winter stack I will be using this amazing stack North Pole news by craft smart this is a stack that you can get at Michaels for about six dollars and for the summer stack again I am going with another craft smart paper pack and this one is the meant to be one of my favorites again from Michaels and you can see that it all kind of coordinates together the summer or spring stack I'm sorry I am using this older paper stack that I had on hand now you can see here that I've already cut my pieces out and this is all the leftover paper that I have left doing the two DIYs I'm gonna start off with the autumn colors here and like I said you can see that these are all coordinating scrapbooking patterns and I cut six squares out that measure out at two and three quarters by two and three quarters and I did two of each pattern or print I laid them out before I glue them on because I wanted to just make sure that I had them in the order that I liked them then using some of aleene's tacky glue on the back side I'm gonna put a generous amount of glue on the scrapbooking paper and I'm just gonna place it on I guess the wood drawer on the side there and I'm gonna Center it because the scrapbooking paper isn't as big as the wood itself the surface that we're laying it on it's just a bit smaller because you want that wood to frame the paper and so you're just gonna glue down all six pieces for this DIY I'll also be using these poster stickers that you can get from you guessed it the Dollar Tree these are great you can alter them these are repositionable which is even better I liked this font a lot the only thing I didn't like about this font was that it has this shadow cast out from it which is something that I'm gonna fix I'm gonna fix it by placing the letters down on one of dollar trees cutting mats these are cutting mats that you can find in the kitchen area of the Dollar Tree and using an exacto knife this is one that I got from the Dollar Tree I've had people tell me that they were having trouble with the blade if you just kind of twist the bottom of it it will tighten up around the blade I'm gonna use this on top of my cutting mat and I'm just gonna cut off the shadowing which is just gonna leave me with the letter itself now this may seem like a lot of work to some but I think that because these stickers are so budget-friendly I don't really mind doing it because it's a great alternative to using the Cricut if you don't have a Cricut or using other stickers that you really can't get your hands on say at Hobby Lobby Michaels or Joanne's and once you cut it you can see it peels right off and look we've got a letter that's perfect now taking some of Waverly's chalk paint in the color of ivory I'm gonna give these a nice good coating of paint now it's gonna take two coats of paint and I want to tell you that this is where the cutting mat plays a pretty big part in this because it's a plastic cutting mat and because these stickers are repositionable it's gonna make it easy for them to peel up after the paint dries once the paint dries you can easily stick these stickers on to the scrapbooking paper that we glued on to the drawer now you'll see here that my letters are not cream because somehow I must have forgot to press record after I painted them cream I felt like the letters were just too stark so I took some of that antique wax by Waverly and just lightly brushed over it to kind of give it that woodgrain look I wanted to show you what the cutting mat looked like you can see here that the letters peeled up perfectly off of it the paint stayed on the mat it doesn't have to be perfect when you paint those letters on and these cutting mats really are kind of a nifty little tool to have when crafting so you can see here that once I've got the word autumn on this side I'm going to take the whole stack and just kind of rotate it to another side and on this side here I'm gonna use the I guess winter or Christmas patterned paper and I'm gonna go ahead and glue those in the order that I want them in and then again taking the stickers I'm gonna spell out the word winter and again once I've got winter nice and spelled out I'm gonna rotate the stack and on this side I believe this is going to say spring and so I'm gonna place the paper and then place my stickers what's great about this DIY is it really can be done to suit any decor style you don't have to stain your wood you could paint it a bright color you could paint it a pastel color if you wanted to you really can just get creative you paint your letters whatever color you'd like that's gonna go with your pattern paper and really you've just gotten creative and you've made this DIY your own I like bringing you all DIYs like this because even though I do them in the rustic farmhouse style a lot of times these are DIYs that can very easily be done in any decor style and that's really what I encourage is for you just to take what you like from my DIYs and get creative and make it your own and lastly once we've got the word spring I'm gonna rotate it to the last side and this side is going to be my summer side [Music] now if you all have them following me for a while you know that I like my DIYs to look distressed and aged and you can see the difference here one is just bright and vibrant and the other just looks like it's been around a while and that's what I love about distressing so to distress these I'm gonna be using just a brown ink pad I'm not gonna use anything fancy if you want to use a makeup sponge you can but I'm just gonna use the pad itself and run it along the edges of the drawer on all four sides just distressing each of them I'm gonna do that to all six blocks it's gonna take you a little bit of time I'm not gonna lie but like I've said before we all have nothing but time on our hands because we're hunkering down at home and we're staying indoors and so why not get creative and do a project that takes a little bit more time once that's not just super quick and easy because I promise you the outcome of this you're gonna love it and I am gonna distress the letters as well and to do that if you just take a stiffer paintbrush and dip it into the ink pad itself the ink will go onto your brush and it makes it a lot easier to do more detailed areas like these letters and look at that I love the way that looks and so would you look at that we've got summer spring winter and autumn so to glue these together I'm just very simply going to take some of aleene's glue and on this bottom edge here which would have been the front side of the drawer I'm gonna run some of the glue right along this bottom edge then just simply stack them on top of each other in order [Music] and there we have it we've just made a real fun seasonal piece that can be left out all year used all year using these wood tours from the Dollar Tree for the smaller set which is the drawers it basically is the same thing as you can see here only these have the punch out that's on the front and they come with a variety of different shapes or styles and so to cover that up it's just easy you're gonna take your scrapbooking paper and just place it right over the punch out and nobody's none the wiser that it was once there see you can see here on the inside that it's covered up and we just covered it with scrapbooking paper now because I'm crafting from home I didn't have enough of the poster stickers but I did have a few packs of dollar trees with letters on hand and so I thought that this would be a great alternative for the second set of these blocks now to write out or spell out I guess I should say winter spring summer and autumn you're going to need a total of three packs of wood letters because each of the packs only comes with one letter each and so because there was a couple s's and a few eyes and a couple M's you're gonna need three packs and so with these again I'm taking some of Waverly's antique wax because that was what I did the outside of the box with and I'm gonna give these one good quick coating and just like that would you look at that I think I actually really like the wood letters better but I think the stickers are a great alternative these stickers that you can paint any color that's what's great about these repositionable stickers is like I said if you just put them down on that plastic cutting mat because they're repositionable you can peel them up and place them on another surface once you're done and to adhere these wood letters onto these boxes I'm gonna use hot glue because I'm not thinking that a liquid adhesive is gonna have a strong enough hold and wrapping this up lastly all I need to do is stack this last set you leans glue and we are done let's take a look at both of these DIYs would you look how amazing this Dollar Tree DIY turned out using these wood block drawers I absolutely love this this is such a fun seasonal DIY it's one that you can keep up like I said all year round and it's definitely a budget-friendly DIY that would be for a great gift to give now have fun is this piece I told you it is one of those pieces that you can keep up year-round you can rotate it around when the seasons change now this is a piece that I did do I would say probably the first year that I was on YouTube and I did it using two by fours and I had a lot of people asking me if there was an alternate item or something else that they could use besides the two by fours because they didn't have wood cutting tools or they didn't feel comfortable having wood cut at their local hardware store and it took me a while but when I saw these doors and I saw that the drawer came out of it I thought oh my word this is perfect we can stack these and not only are we gonna get one DIY out of it but we're gonna be able to make two so we can make one for ourselves and we can gift one out I hope you all enjoyed today's DIY using the wood drawers or the dice from the Dollar Tree please make sure to give this video a big thumbs up and let's get this video to 5,000 likes because like I
