Look Inside Anna Campbell Jones' Home: Objects | Scotland's Home of The Year

hi I'm Anna Campbell Jones I'm one of the judges on Scotland's home of the year I'm an interior designer for me part of what makes for home are the stories behind the objects artwork furniture that are in that home this table and I found in it was being used as a window display with a sparkly tablecloth over it in the local charity shop and I just saw its little bass peeking out and I was like oh that is a Saarinen side table and I went in and I persuaded them to sell it to me I have a G plan coffee table which belonged to my friend's mother and which I repainted because it was very scuffed I painted it with some more British down two colors I know I'm obsessed the brass wear around my fireplace there they are actually from my grandfather's office they were going to be taken to a charity shop and I couldn't bear for them not to stay in the family again part of part of my history part my family's history and in the green sofa I bought from a vintage furniture dealer he told me it was Danish and when I was getting it reupholstered the my upholsterer came with his dad to help him carry out the house and his dad was in his eighties at the time said ah that's a McGregor sofa and I said no I think you'll find it's Danish he said no I made it it's a McGregor sofa and he pulled the cushion up and sure enough there was a McGregor tartan underneath [Music] love cooking like real cooking so went for a kind of catering kitchen a bulletproof stainless steel no the appliances are fitted so that they can be pulled out for maintenance that was very very important to me I'm not so interested in sort of shishi designer label kitchens or certainly not for me anyway and don't think that's the kind of this table is the was the starting point for this kitchen and it was originally in my dad's office and then it was languishing in a rental flat of my uncles and I persuaded him to swap it for a new one it's a song and tables an extending Sion and tulip table which they are rare as hen's teeth and it's an absolute thing of beauty in my opinion and I just love also the idea of a round table at the heart of the home in the kitchen and it's been the scene of so many kind of family meals and friends coming around it's sort of it is actually the heart of the home this table so and although it's maybe a little bit big for the room I think it's worth it and so everything kind of started from there the chairs actually also purloined from my dad who found them in a skip in the 70s and he had them rechromed and reupholstered but they're actually originally these chairs were made in 1931 by a company called Pelle which stands for practical equipment limited I just think it's extraordinary that chairs that look as contemporary as this work made in Britain in 1931 [Music] the original like I had hanging here founded a skip in Dundee actually and it's a 1970s could see me light it got broken and I searched the internet to find a replacement so this isn't the same one that came out of the skip but it's similar I think I love this room because it has a lot of objects in it that I particularly love I wouldn't have necessarily chosen them from scratch to go together it's definitely one of these evolved spaces that I seem to be obsessed with but what I've ended up with is hopefully a cheerful welcoming but very robust family kitchen [Music] so I hope you've enjoyed having a little look around my eccentric home cheerio [Music] you
