[Music] it's time to get out the tissues as the emotional long lost family is about to return to our screens for another very unique series i was just rested up against one of the toilets in a brown paper bag i was found on the doorstep within a few hours of being born this is where i was abandoned for over four years we've been trying to solve the mystery of these foundling's beginnings two full sisters both foundlings yes tracing birth families using the latest dna technology and painstaking detective work now i know i'm the ice baby but can we piece together their pasts and bring them the answers they're searching for it's come as a shock to all of them it's very hard to hear that's like that's amazing news there are some incredible stories we're joined now by natasha and leanne who feature in the first episode tonight they share a remarkable story as well good morning um right okay good heavens um what an emotional time you've both had so um explain natasha how this started for you how your life started so i was found in the cubicle of the toilets in saint thomas hospital um i was adopted at two years old and i turned maybe 19 and i started the search to look for my family and a couple of years ago i started the search with long lost families and it's just been a long journey to find anything and then thankfully last year we met you met so we'll come on to that in just a moment so it was a long process because i think it was four years for long lost family to do digging and try and find everything because originally you were trying to find your birth mother um and part of the process before you found and obviously the sort of spoiler is here that your sister is sat next to you but you went back to the cubicle where you were left as a tiny tiny baby to be found um what was that moment like it was i i didn't know what to expect i went in and it just felt like everything happened the emotion came out the tears came out because i've got this image in my head of what it would have been like and sort of playing it through my mind and then standing in front of the cubicle and seeing it it was it was just overwhelming yeah i bet i bet and that's not the only story because leanne it happened to you as well it did 18 months prior to it happening to natasha um i was left at a hospital in south london it doesn't exist anymore but in very similar circumstances so in the staff toilets of that hospital and i was left to be found and was found by a paramedic so it was found in very capable hands at a hospital as well um and i was left a couple of days old so a few days younger than natasha was um and then i was in foster care for a few months and then adopted by my parents and so natasha you've described it that sort of growing up there was a there was a layer missing in your life there was a liver something at this layer of things sort of unanswered question that you needed to know so when the team got in touch with you and said well we found your sister and then went one stage further and showed you that photograph for the first time just explain what that was like um for me i've never seen anyone [Music] that i can say is related to me so i can't imagine what it would have been even when davina had the picture in her hand i just thought just just let me see because i can't imagine what it would have been like to see someone else that had even features like me and yeah we've got we've got the moment actually here you go we did find a match on the dna database but it wasn't your birth mother okay are you disappointed i'm disappointed yeah we haven't stopped looking okay okay so what did you find then we did find a full sibling you have a sister okay okay emotional when you found out then emotional even to watch now um for you when you found out that there was someone else who we hear so many times of people who have grow up without any background without any knowledge feel adrift until they've got something to anchor themselves to how did you feel um so i'd always known i was adopted my parents had let me know quite early on but as natasha mentioned you can't when you look at your family photos it still feels like something's missing something's missing um and just knowing that there was someone else who would have had the same dna we shared the same dna just i can't explain it it's really really special and it means so so much to me share the same dna share the same story which is so important and then you have this shared moment of meeting one another for the first time yeah and it it just helps that we can each go through life understanding and knowing that someone else had the same experiences yeah but you also share the same mum um and she did this not once but twice left two babies in toilet cubicles what do you think about her i think she did what she needed to do yeah and i think that there was great care in how she [Music] arranged to leave us in very very safe places wishing you we were going to be found straight away both in very similar shawls yeah yeah and that's that's the one that you yeah this is the one that i was found in it's very beautiful it looks kind of sort of someone's taking some real care and making that and that's all you had that's it that was all there was so the search continues for for your mom doesn't it yeah i mean she who knows we see these stories so often that the the parent desperately wants to get in touch um do you you don't feel anger towards oh no no it's i feel like if you had to leave a child after giving birth it must have been difficult no matter what the circumstances were it would be difficult and the fact that she made sure we were left in the right place we were both left in blankets you you can tell that she did the most she could to make sure we were safe so i don't think either of us are angry we just want to just find out a bit more about each other about where we come from who we are and to let her know that we're okay yeah yeah and as i said she did what she needed to do and we're fine and we just really like to meet her i hope they find her for you i hope she finds you having been sort of very public now and yeah she can feel the relief that you're okay yeah um and that you had great lives with amazing families i'm so happy you found each other we are so nice it's so nice you can really tell it's lovely uh what i mean that's what this show does best doesn't it puts families back together yeah incredible stories um thank you both if you want to watch the series starts tonight uh nine o'clock on itv and yeah get the tissues ready thank you both thank you thank you
