Local street food market in Kuala Lumpur | Eating Malaysia’s BEST food 2024

okay we've been told to try this literally whatever you want they will have it here of different things [Music] you Good Vibes all around here in KL this Saturday night hi guys it's Saturday night and we are in KL it is about 5:00 p.m. this evening the streets are alive and we have come too bear with we're looking for food we want street food we want to get involved Jalan tanu Abdul Rahman is the name of the street we're on we hear there's a very good Market here so that's where we're going to try and explore we can hear it but we can't see it we we can't see it we're not quite there I think it's the other side of of where we are now you got some beautiful street art on the wall here look at that love girl look at that beautiful that's one thing that KL has a lot of which is a really nice touch Malaysia in general street art everywhere but yeah not just K all over Georgetown Mala oh sowhere I think down here so yeah here we go so we got some small stores here but it's these yellow ones yeah yeah that's so the yellow ones we think are going to going to be the food and the The Kind of Night Market that we're looking for so oh it's looking good eve yeah I want F good I'm ready for food I'm feeling hungry I maybe want to try something new oh we think we're going to look for what is it Kendall Kendall oh never tried Kendall before I'm sure we'll be able to find it here I am dying for a m bag a m bag I haven't had one this time since we've been back in chaos so I'm excited and I want what's what's the crispy pancakes called a balik a BAL a balik okay we're here we're here so it looks like you've got clothes and things on one side and the right side of me here looks like where all the food is smells good smells very good smells 10 times better when you're hungry as well yeah but we I mean I don't know where we've come into the market I don't know if we're towards the start or the end oh yeah actually I don't know we probably should have started on one side and then head down well we're here now take a look at this food yeah I see lots of good things Milo that's another thing actually we tried Meo may we that in this video what's this this this is I know it looks good some chickp type things should we grave them do you want it yeah yeah let's give hello hello what are what are these chick chickp spicy okay should you go are these not spicy original okay can we have one of the original see I think it was important that we ate something before otherwise we're just going to end up buying everything it's going to be like the wet Market all over again where I just couldn't stop buying fruit T kie T cie okay we got chickpeas to start let's give these a go yeah try them here and now oh I'm going to get um a spoon oh they burnt my hand they burn my oh hot they're very hot other than the fact they just burned my mouth which was my own fault these are really tasty they I thought that they were just going to be like plain chickpeas but they taste a little bit salty they're really good really nice but not spicy because I'm not feeling the spicy today they taste really good actually who knew chickpeas could taste like that they're delicious and I feel like they're actually quite a healthy as well do you know what I love about Street Food Markets is just trying bits of different things I don't know what that [Music] was that's not cool to [Music] PR if for them we need the M back first the M back's on the list what the M back it's higher on the list than the aan balic come on not for me I really like the aan balic oh I'm really happy that we found that's not too far from home to be honest all it's okay we'll eat now oh yeah yeah sauce oh so little H okay little bit perfect okay how exciting we're just trying to move out the way cuz it's very busy here tonight maybe because it's Saturday well I say it's very busy I actually have nothing to compare it to cuz I've never been here it is busy it's busy with a lot of local people I haven't seen many tourists around at all which is always a good sign actually I think what local people tend to do is come to the get their food and then probably take it home whereas we want to try it and E it on the market and try it out so we were kind of in the way we've moved over here down this street oh they look really good they look delicious okay it's not too hot that's good oh my God that's really good so he said it was beef and potatoes I'm sure there is an actual name for this but we don't know if it's food in Malaysia on a local market it's going to be good you know it's going to be good try it it's really good really good oh Lord I've got a new favorite yeah that's that's delicious I'm trying to I'm trying to work out what they've done how have they made it like this all right know so good literally just arrived and already bought two things but it just looks and tastes so good I'm really glad that that guy told us to try this it was it just just a wasn't it yeah he just said this is really good yeah so we tried it yeah I love that we finished with them and heading back on to the market now they were really good on the way back I want to tell the guy how nice they were because honestly delicious feel like you can buy everything on this Market Lally seeing socks pants fish shoes yeah fruit fish fried fried stuff oh some fruit no we don't need we don't need fruit Meraki stay focused okay okay we're looking for a m back for Bob because Bob is a big fan of the M back oh drinks look good do you want to try one of these lime yeah I was just thinking there limey minty drinks this one I assume one is small one is large I large is quite large probably don't need one that big yeah he can we get one of these small one how many uh one just one please he we're not sure what's in it but it looks cool and refreshing yeah it's got lemon in it and it's got mint in it that is definitely up our street and three ring it as well which is yeah and I'm a bit thirsty trying all this food you guys from from England from englanduk we love Malaysia though we really like Malaysia thank you can I take a St ah it's in there what's it like right this is in a plastic bag of course cuz we're in Asia it's um it's a bit it's a bit salty you know salty yeah juice juice not yet way back yeah maybe later oh pommy Granite juice I wish we saw that before we bought this this is like got lemony salty I'm not sure about this I'm really not sure about this it's like a mar greas but without alcohol it's actually it's not horrible I feel like I'm getting hydrated from the drink but dehydrated from the salt that's in the drink okay not our favorite but never try never know never try never know put it in a bag it's easy to carry around never try never know okay so there's lots of clothes here now rather than food looks like we've come to the end of the the food bit at the moment but it literally I don't think I've been able to see the end since we've been here so yeah no more food there is more food am gang got some I am gang Fried Chicken we love oh lasagna that's interesting that's not classic Malaysia right we've made it to a Crossroads which way do you want to go Eve we've got one of four ways which which way do we go which way do we go I feel like it doesn't really go that much further up there let's continue let's carry on down let's carry on down yeah Vietnamese coffee vietamese coffee that's a Vietnamese that is good buy some pasta here pasta but we we're trying Malaysian or Asian at least I can get laxa here Eve LAX ah more more found Lake again yeah I think he was impressed we knew what the name for it was the first time we had that was actually on a night market in langa and we love them ever since yeah I do I am actually really bad I forget the name but I asked Bob and he tells me so we're all good as long as as long as we're together okay we maybe try them on the way that face for you salty salty only time and need salty and a drink is with a margarita otherwise absolutely not but I do think this would be a good non-alcoholic alternative to a margarita that's one thing that is very good in Malaysia the non-alcoholic drinks options obviously because it's a Muslim country the drinks options here are just incredible yeah really good have we I don't think we've come across Kendall yet no they had it at the last at the place we got this drink but I'm looking for like a a specific a specifically Kendall oh Bob MB mini MB mini MB no way a mini M back mini M I thought I'd seen it all oh that's perfect cuz a whole mer back can be quite big especially if I'm not eating loads of it oh wow this is a queue we did we didn't realize this was the queue for the mini M back I was just stood there shouting about oh you know it's going to be good though don't you you know it's going to be good yeah you do if there's a queue so we just watching now and they are like tiny little mback uh dough and then the lady just puts the filling in and folds it over exactly the same it's literally identical to a fulls size mback only small I think mini mback is the way forward the dough is obviously made in like a big bulk and then the guy just chops it into tiny little pieces which are then rolled out to be the base with where the filling goes in and then it gets wrapped up and then fried isn't that amazing everyone's stopping and looking at the mini M I feel like I wonder if these or a thing have been around for ages and maybe it's just the first time we've seen them but I don't think it is yeah I mean I'm mind blowing my my mind is blown there they are the mini Ms I wonder what's in them can you tell me what's what's in them is it chicken chicken onion and potato Blended together oh wow perfect sounds good we love m back so I've never had a small one before thank you thank you bye okay mini MB secured wow right and it looks like there's small Crossroads where we might be able to eat these we're looking for a side street yeah it's very busy oh there's some people in uniform here not quite sure what that means look parking oh Patronus as well okay a little side streak in true beew fashion let's head down the side street so we can do a taste test right okay so we messed up we go we messed up we should hot hot incredibly hot and we don't have any napkins or knife or fork or any Cutlery I mean I'm happy to eat this with my hand but it's going to burn it's going to burn I think we're going to have to put this off H it's hot and greasy it's so hard this is the one thing I came here for and I've got it and I can't eat it it's okay it we'll cool down we're going to have to leave it I think we'll carry on we'll carry on let it co we'll come back for it this is why the locals don't just start eating their stuff I know everybody takes it home but when you're hungry it's harder it's easier said than done when you've been craving a mer back for 6 months oh my God more aan balic but huge wow these ones are these are huge Aon [Music] B they are big aren they they are big boys I think I might go for the slightly smaller ones no I think you go big helloing a AR people so nice here saying hello oh pomegranate juice how much oh 12 ring it one bottle wow I feel like you keep getting through to a clearing where you think you're going to have some space and it lasts for about 30 seconds and then a swarm of people come back down this is just incredible though this is reminded me of like one of the markets in Thailand where they just have absolutely everything everybody comes here for their food and anything literally anything you can think of I feel like they have it here like we've got some handbags here little tiny hambur some m b got some fried chicken kebab oh it's hot coming off we can see the end of the street now literally whatever you want they will have it here I'm so glad we came down here oh strawberries oh we could have some strawberries actually we got oh Cameron Highland Cameron Highland strawberries oh classic there you go Malaysian strawberries we love it yeah let's get some local strawberries from the Cameron Highlands me and Eve had a fantastic time there last year doing some hiking and we did eat a lot of strawberries and can vouch for how good they are it's half tempted to say should we turn back and go the other way but we're almost at the end so I think let's just make it right to the end and then we'll all the way back'll the way back yeah oh look it's we're pretty much done now we're done pretty much done maybe my bir back would have cooled down by now can try it again right so we've got to the end my six miniature M back is still far too hot to eat we're going to have to go back we're going to have to walk back the other way and come back to these maybe let's try find an aan balik let's actually buy one now and we can eat that when these are cooling down I want one of the slightly smaller ones though I don't want one of the big boys I think we should go for a giant one do you think I think a big I don't know oh yeah that's proper CH Chia CH Chow yeah proper CH Chia always reminds me of Georgetown panang when we have that we have a little guy that we go to there on his stall and it is to die for oh should we get strawberries should we get some strawberries yeah let's get some strawberri hello yeah one packet we get these how much are these are these 10 yeah they're 10 and should we get big ones a big one I make sure I having a small change but maybe hold this I'll just check cuz I don't want toy yeah we're going to get a oh one second we got to see what change we've got just do do 100 okay just do it it we'll work out thank [Music] you a how lovely Done Right Bob's feeling a little bit stressed now because we only have 100 ring it note to pay for the B we should have gone for the smaller strawberries eat then we still would have had some Small Change yeah I'm sorry but I wanted the big strawberries and I'd already asked for them I I couldn't tell those poor girls to get the small ones after I'd asked for the big ones I know they are Cameron Highland strawberries so they'll be good it's worth it you know they'll be good they'll be delicious so guys we said to you you really can buy everything at this Market take a look at this we don't get it I don't understand I don't understand some more fruit I haven't actually seen too much fruit on this apart from the strawberries we bought I haven't seen huge amounts of fruit and veg no which I think I mean they might be here I don't know it's so big okay we just passed the big aan balic is that correct but I saw him putting sweet corn in them so I don't know if they're a slightly different style I want the peanut ones like you know the sweet peanuty the sweet lovely peanut ones lovely peanuty stuff so we're going to continue down we've seen two other stalls just look at this View the second tallest building in the world right here on the market all around T eating your way through beautiful it's one of the reasons we love koala Lumpa as a city it really does just surprise us every time we come back there is so much to do here there so many new things as well we haven't tried before just keep popping up you think you've done it all and there's just more and more there is that's what I love about street food and Street Food Markets you just try new things and see new things and it's like it's so different you don't we don't have Street Food Markets like this at home not really not really not really there's nothing like this in the UK thank you okay so we've been drawn in by some Vietnamese style spring roll they look really good very good freshh today fresh yeah except this one this one is processed that one is fresh one fresh okay okay okay and we've already expressed Our concern about only having 100 not and it's all okay we grill with butter grill with butter perfect they sound good they sound really good okay um what do you thinking if do you want to tryo the actual price is 1888 18 I I think get uh mix maybe or one of them five there's only two ring in it isn't there we'll go we'll do the the mix set mix mix set pleas thank you so we try all of them so we've been told they're all fresh they all look really good actually as well yeah and we were looking for something that's not fried or not like like a little bit fresher yeah a bit a bit more fresh which is exactly what I think we're going to get here so perfect perfect no problem and we did check as well for the 100 note that they had changed before we bought this as Bob was very concerned blessing it is nice to be concerned and it means I can have a bit of Cutlery for my M back now if it ever cools down the mini M back oh that was actually really nice they talked us through what everything was perfect how long we inia we arrived 2 days ago we're here for 10 days but we've been here many times we love Malaysia yeah many [Music] thank so nice they were actually really lovely people are just lovely here they are lovely oh okay wonderful I'm really happy with our our new purchase oh oh and look what I see now oh a f I think this was the guy um oh earlier yeah this is a guy that was surprised that we knew what the name was yeah okay so I actually see sweet corn in this one as well so maybe I was wrong I see Peanut and sweet corn that doesn't bother me I'm I'm here for it I'm going to try it I'm excited we've got so much food though like so much food really starting to get hot here as well working up a sweat it might just be that I'm carrying around 1,000° m this boy is still going on with about his mer how many pieces do we want to get four pie let's get four these look like they've cooled down a bit so hopefully we can actually eat them and live okay so some sugar goes in then some peanuts some sweet corn and then some butter and that's what gives it the like sugary buttery deliciousness it's incredible watching them do that many that quickly yeah they move quick they move quick almost for free almost forgot imagine dream thank you secured app Bic secured let's go they do feel hot but not as hot as that Merc back God I've got all my food hanging off my arms I love it right we're going to have to find somewhere to eat or this even we're going to have to do a be special all the chaos we're going to have to fuss was about there you go oh mini mini mer so anybody that doesn't know a MB back is a kind of stuffed pancakey flat bre type thing with minced meat potatoes and onions in we've been told these ones are chicken oh chicken yeah we first had yes I am I am mini mback we uh had our first MBS in Lan hello hello there we go oh that's so good that's so good I've waited months for one of these waited six months for one of these Oh no you're going to have to try e okay I have to try it did I go down my new t-shirt no you're all clear get me one out you might have to eat it in one in one wow M that's really good so nice back is good it's almost like a little bit sweet I thought like caramelized yeah it is bit sweet really nice I Johnson I didn't have the same craving as Bob had for the mer back but I'm really enjoying this really good considering we ate all that food earlier so early on in the market having a mini M back look at the state of this what this still a bit hot can't take her anywhere these days but having a mini m is a is a very nice way to enjoy the mback taste without having to eat a very large heavy thing I really tried to eat too much mini M they might be mini but they can't go in in one you from Malaysia India oh wow okay there you go some people asking what the YouTube was there you go we're almost famous I mean we do stick out like a sore Thum to be honest walking around this very local market get two people taking up clear clogging the the the pathways of everybody scoffing ourselves with mback stuffing our faces H Min back oh that was really cute though we've never had anyone come up to us when we're filming and ask what our YouTube is so that's really cool appan balic taste test here we go youve waited a long time for one of these as well for that that peanuty goodness how is it it's really good whether the sweet corn adds to it or not I'm not sure I'm not sure it's necessary but these are as good as I remember I really like them they're a beautiful they're a beautiful thing to come out Malaysia and I'm very happy that I've got some again big man's going to have to do the taste test himself look just look at this goodness so they come in like a uh like a half pancakey type thing and they've got peanut butter some sweet corn and I think suar sugar butter goodness they're probably not the healthiest but they do taste delicious full
