you know it's cool that's cool too yeah and if it's like i want to get involved then we try to figure without what that looks like that's good because being let's just even talk about that being involved so before i got to ltwc um i wasn't involved in church and it has definitely been a game changer because we're community and so since i've been involved you get to know more people i have been going here and this is my first for what four years this is my first time meeting jennifer so it's so important to just join a community to do life and so you don't have to walk alone i think and i think that's what it is it's not especially you know what it feels like to walk into a space um that you don't know anybody yeah and you literally feel like okay what do i do where do i go how do i sit all these norms you walk into this new space with and you don't know what to do so um i feel that and even so i'm glad you shared your your our meeting yeah situation this morning all right um but like there's so many people like for me even as someone who's part of the connection team and helping to to revamp it and what it looks like i know that after church i b-line out of here if someone don't be like hey jen i'm like i'm out but that's not how you that's not how you connect how you build relationships and so that's why the connection team is so important and we want to get connected with you we want you to feel like this is family because we are truly family like that's what i love about ltwc yeah like i feel like this is my not just church family but we do life for sure together we hold each other accountable we talk about what's going on in community group outside of community group like how's your life how are the kids and so it's just really amazing so we have something for everybody and we call everybody like mvps so we have so many different ministries do you want to name a few that people can get connected with absolutely so um i say yes and then i'm like complete [Applause] we have our greeters and we have what we're doing um right now this is the media team connection team um where we do the announcements you can do the cameras the lights um and so there's a elimination and eventual extinction of defective stocks i think the greatest city in the world is bringing children into the world but have diseased that have no chance in the world to be a human being practically delinquents prisoners all sorts of things just mark when they're born that to me is the greatest sin [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] good morning we are in for a talk that i believe is going to challenge us to the core so i welcome you to live in the word church if this is your first time we welcome you if this is your second time we asking what's wrong with you and if it's your third time we say why you ain't jumped on in yet amen i'm just joking on all three but we do welcome you amen and so this morning we get the opportunity to jump into our new series what would jesus say because we know the world is very vocal about what it wants jesus to say in fact the church has done a great job at amplifying god's voice on things that are i would just say opportunistic for them but then mitigating god's voice when it comes to the reality of scripture and so today we jump off into the subject matter at hand and i do understand that this is going to be a time of challenge it's going to be a time of reflection so here's what i'm asking you over the next few weeks i need special consideration to be given to the gift of listening okay because we're going to be talking about some things that i believe is going to just really rattle the cage and that's what we are we're always as a church we're going to always lean towards the prophetic voice of god for god's church not the voice that says let's give you three points in a poem to allow our highest stakeholders to be happy as they sit in the church pews our job is to be a prophetic voice of god which means we challenge people at the core for the will of god and the purposes of god that being said i want us to talk and begin with installment number one of what would jesus say to planned parenthood you just heard the voice of the founder and the words of the founder margaret sanger who actually is the mindset behind planned parenthood if you do any type of research on her you'll find some very interesting realities that are both frightening that are also telling and that's what we're going to begin to pivot our conversation on this day i want to talk about jesus first because i think that's the whole goal right jesus is our center point he's the baseline that allows us to begin to affect and effect the world jesus had an uncanny ability to go beyond the obvious he saw beyond the surface problems of humanity and he didn't hold men or women to what was seen by everybody else he didn't let the stigma of sinfulness stop him from helping the obviously hurting he never sat back and judged in fact his main criticisms check this was against the religious uh crews of his day he he had the biggest problems with them and so without that being said is because they they love the law but they hated the spirit of the law in other words they wanted to catch people in sin and destroy them instead of restore them after they have been exposed we have to also consider what does it mean for us to have the spirit of the law versus the letter of the law see the letter of the law says thou shalt not the spirit of the law says there is a redemptive aspect to thou shalt not and we have to search to that we have to look beyond the surface for that which means we have to refrain from easy judgment see our judgment is doused in opinion and lots of assumption i love the fact that jesus goes into this very conversation in john the seventh chapter and verse 24 and i want to read a scripture to you about the passion translation then out the message translation here's what it says in the passion translation jesus is talking he says stop judging based on the superficial first you must embrace the standards of mercy and truth the message bible says it this way don't be hypocritical amen somebody use your head and your heart see the letter of the law is the head the spirit of the law is the heart he says use your heart and your head to discern what is right to test what is authentically right remember on last week we talked about opinion being the lowest form of knowledge well i want to read that quote to you again from bill bullard it's oftentimes attributed to plato but here's what it says opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge it requires no accountability and no understanding but then it went on to say the highest form of knowledge is empathy it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world it requires profound purpose larger than self the uh larger than the self kind of understanding so if you really want knowledge if you really want to walk around smart brilliant intelligent and smart show some empathy but if you really want to show the lowest form of knowledge share your opinion about everything share your opinion about what you think everybody should do and you just get this wonderful platform to tell everybody how you feel about stuff you are showing your iq level just went down nine notches so let me go further and talk to you about how we are so guilty of superficiality i want to give you uh uh i'm gonna go through these kind of fast i'm gonna give you people's view and then god's view i want you to see in scripture how people view people that jesus interacted and how god viewed people that jesus interacted with so here's the people's view this is the guy by the name of zacchaeus y'all remember he is a chief tax collector here's what it says this is a people's view and a man was there by the name of zacchaeus he was the chief which is key in other words he was the top crook he was the top crew and he had money that he stole from the people of jerusalem because y'all know they basically signed assigned a jewish person to tax the people of jerusalem and israel and they would take an extra measure of taxes for themselves so he was a chief thief and he was a wealthy man that's what people saw let me show you what god sees the bible says and he wanted to see that zach is who jesus was verse 5 when jesus reached the spot he looked up and said to him because zach was a shark dude he ran up into a tree to see jesus jesus looked up saw him looked up and said to him zacchaeus come down immediately i must stay at your house today jesus saw a man ready for revival the people saw a man who was a thief okay all right all right y'all missing it already but let's go on people's view let's talk about this man who was born blind let's see how they saw this man how god saw this man in john 9 verse number 2 it says these words if you could throw that up there rabbi his disciples asked him check this out who asked him his decision sometimes folk close to jesus have the least amount of compassion it says his disciples asked him why was this man born blind was it because check this out of his own sins or his parents everybody like to sin hunt in somebody else's life god's view check this out verse 3 says these words jesus it is not because of his sins or his parents sin jesus answered this happened check this out so the power of god could be seen in him people's view versus god's view how are you viewing people let me go one more story and then we'll get to our talk today the woman the woman at the well okay the woman at the web let's jump let's jump to it john 4 17-18 jesus is interacting with her and he asks her go get your husband that's what she starts off with people's view i don't have a husband the woman replied y'all thought y'all was a hot girl watch this one jesus said you're right you don't have a husband for you have had five husbands and you aren't even married to the man you're shacking with now yeah i thought it was 20 21 type stuff wasn't it okay you certainly spoke the truth jesus was just letting her know what he knew about what everybody else was saying about her they were saying you're hussy that's what they were saying that's what they were saying it's old school word that's what they were saying now check this out jesus sees beyond the superficiality verse 27 i'm gonna give you one more now the disciples were asked to leave then they come back just then his disciples came back check this out check it out check it out they were shocked to find him talking to a woman and and actually greet means to that woman he's always talking to women he was ministered to him they wanted his ministry team to that woman now check it out but none of them had the nerve to ask what do you want whatever why you don't know something let us know messiah you know we know she kind of like goes there let's see what god's view is in verse number 10 jesus replied if you only knew the gift god has for you talking to her and you and who you are speaking to in other words i ain't like no other man i'm not going to use you an abuser i'm the son of god i'm god in the flesh if you just knew who you was talking to you would ask me and i would give you living water which means i would take the shame away from you coming all the way out here to this well verse 39 the woman goes back to samaria and she tells hey y'all there's a dude who told me everything about my life i think he's a messiah verse 39 see how we limit what god could do through people because we got our opinions many samaritans from the village if you could throw that up there just go right to verse 39 that's it okay yeah that's it right there thank you many samaritans from the village believed in jesus many samaritans from the village believed in jesus these next four words five because the woman had said the same one that had five husbands and a shack in relationship so church if you all are looking for a neat a person who's never done that wrong and you feel like oh my god the church is hypocritical because we got centers in the seats no you're in the right spot cause at some point god's gonna use you to change the world the village the town the precinct god's going to use you to change the school system the the city he's going to use you to change the corporate environment now let's move to the question of when and where does life begin let me make you mad because you're going to look at me and be like this but but no no no let's talk about life in the womb we're going to go there because we're going to talk about people's view versus god's view and i got to move real fast because i got to get y'all out of here to go to brunch i do i do because i'm go too anyway psalms 127 verses 3-5 here's what you have to hear this is god speaking behold children are a heritage from the lord the fruit of the womb a reward like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one truth blessed is the man who feels his quiver with them so god makes it very clear that what's in the womb it's not that she's going to be a mother she is a mother okay verse jeremiah 1 and 5 says these words before i form you in your mother's body i chose you before you were born i set you apart to serve me i appointed you to be a prophet to the nation i don't know why it's not showing up y'all but y'all got to flow with me up there i know i got a lot to get through i'm gonna give you one this is free isaiah 49 verses 1 and 5 the lord called me from the womb for me from the womb to be his servant galatians 1 and 15 but god set me apart from the time i was born he showed me his grace by appointing me they're taking my thunder they're going too fast but we're going to get through this together here's the controversial stand of jesus if he was talking to planned parenthood today there is life and purpose given to the pre-born and to those in the womb thus life in the womb is precious and should be protected amen now i'm not here to discuss rights and laws and i'm not here to discuss american rights and laws remember slavery was legal for 300 years so america can't tell me nothing about righteousness bump them and they mamas and miss me with your prerogative speech because when it's all said and done that was the stuff you did under your prerogative that you regret doing right now my prerogative do what i want to do is smile for bobby brown right bobby bobby said it and your prerogative got you hooked on stuff got you in a 20-year relationship you're trying to uncut recover from his last 10 years i'm going to share that with y'all when we talk about american righteousness remember slavery families were torn apart men and women raped sons and daughters traumatized a pain that we have yet to recover from so america cannot talk about righteousness it won't even admit it was wrong like when they do they want us to have a photo op with candles and a picture and then they say see we did enough no give me my 40 acres and a mule it's in the lava repair and repent so life begins in the womb what would jesus say to planned parenthood if he was here today jesus was saved he was walking there and he would say stop it planned parenthood he would say i came to give life in life more abundantly he would say i declare to you the beauty of life he would weep with the wounded he would share how he has designed every child for a what jesus wouldn't do though he would not use the statistics of abortion to demonize communities races or people groups he wouldn't use abortion preaching to encourage people to leave a church or join a church he wouldn't make others feel condemned or hopeless he wouldn't pick it with signs and protests me and my son was riding down forest park boulevard by the one planned parenthood that's in st louis and uh it's a picture that i got and i was like son duck hurry up and duck duck and he ducks in the car i let the window down and pop got it every day there's a group that stands on that corner on forest park boulevard every day with signs of babies being mutilated out of the womb every day jesus wouldn't be on that corner i'll tell you why in a minute he would love he would he would love and not convict unto guiltiness jesus knows the whole story he knows jesus knows that you just don't arrive to a certain place overnight you just don't wake up one day and say you know i'm going to have an abortion today he knows there's something going on he knows the whole story remember jesus had an uncanny ability to go beyond the obvious he saw beyond the surface problems remember people's view god's view so here is what you need to understand about what we're about to jump into jesus never held men and women to what was obvious he never held them to what was obvious no good doctor relies just on the symptoms they look to find the cause and jesus is the best doctor of the soul there is so here's what's at stake to give you some numbers in 2018 approximately 2 400 human beings lost their lives to abortion each day in the united states of america on average 19 were hispanic 38 were black and 35 were white now the other numbers are uh uh pacific islanders and asian 38 now how does these numbers play out per day that means 912 black children are killed a day in the womb it means 840 white children are killed per day in the womb and it means 456 hispanic children are killed per day in the womb in the year uh 2011 360 000 african-american children were killed in the womb now here's what you got to hear me say this is if we would do the year numbers of all those stats uh black children 332 000 2018 white's 306 000 and hispanics 166 000 here's where the problem comes in at my brothers and sisters african americans make up 14 percent of the american population but yet comprised of 38 percent of abortions 14 percent but 38 of the abortions that are had are by black families my brothers and sisters this has been muzzled but this is called genocide yeah you're witnessing genocide some professions around the topic have deemed the target of planned parenthood as black genocide for example uh 2011 again i said this 360 000 babies were killed in one year they were never given a chance these numbers have been weaponized though these numbers have not been looked upon how can we mitigate those numbers have been weaponized the pro-life camp has leaned towards condescension and condescending language it is not a pro-christ approach i'll give you uh there's a great article in the new york times um and i think i have it listed there but one of my buddies who was one of my professors in seminary actually was quoted but it's the the title of it is uh black lives matter being used towards abortion so there it's an interesting interesting article i'll give you all all of my my research here and here's what it says uh in the new york times by my good friend reverend dr luke bobo he's now in kansas city missouri here's what he says those who are most vocal about abortion and abortion laws are my white brothers and sisters and yet many of them don't care about the plight of the poor the plight of the immigrant the plight of african americans said reverend dr luke bobo a minister from kansas city missouri who is vehemently opposed to abortion my argument here is he says let's think about the entire lifespan of the person the entire lifespan of the person can i give you all this great quote about hypocrisy real quickly okay i'll give it to you you asked for it i gave it to you edmund burke said it this way hypocrisy can afford to be magnificent in its promises for never intending to go beyond promise it costs nothing it's easy to yell from the palatial palaces of righteousness about why you never would have your daughter go to an abortion clinic but we never look at the system behind and the plight of the cities that and the race groups that are being affected by this in fact i will say this to those who are mad at their church and left because it doesn't preach on abortion enough i need to share this with you god never god never ever uh want the pews to dictate to the pulpit what it ought to preach so you saying my church don't preach enough on this or that listen half the stuff we got to preach on you don't listen to it anyway and if you go in our archives you'll find enough about the same topic and listen i'm just going to tell y'all the truth what did we get off telling the pulpit what it ought to preach and we're leaving churches because it doesn't fit our righteous neat circle on righteous neat box let me keep going because i'll get off on a tangent there listen i want to share something with y'all the attempts to weaponize the pulpit will fail every time y'all saw it in the last election where pastors who have never talked about the gifts of the spirit all of a sudden were prophets and they lied saying well this guy's going to get another fourth term all these people jump to this a political punditcy god never called the pulpit to be in the bed with politics never they're to be separate why because we're to speak truth to power and not take under the table deals so you'll you'll find that out later we won't go there let me go a step further in the article it talks about in new york times same article says the best way to reduce abortions many black people uh the best way to reduce abortions many black people both for and against the practice argue is to address the difficult circumstances that lead so many black women to end their pregnancies goes on to say it another quote many see a contradiction in the great concern some lawmakers and activists show toward the fetus versus the limited focus on policies that uplift black communities i said a lot y'all ain't talking back to me i can't take my time because i gotta get in and out of it because they looking at me crazy planned parenthood here's what you need to hear me say a pro-christ approach sees beyond the obvious jesus saw beyond the surface problems he didn't hold men or women to what was obvious i've said that five times so far woman at the well remember that five husbands a boo on the side zacchaeus a chief thief his house gets saved paralyzed young man was it his mother or his father or his sins jesus heals him see jesus didn't let the stigma of sinfulness stop him from helping the obviously hurting he never sat back and judged in fact his main judgment was against the religious establishment now let me talk real quickly because the guy who i took a picture of is funded by the catholic organizations that are this big champion for pro-life catholic church has been a big proponent of the pro-life movement in fact a lot of the uh evangelicals that are now in the evangelical church came from the catholic uh upbringing or founding and so uh apprentice wherever you are in the building if you could turn the air conditioner up because these women are cold i'm saying y'all like oh my god here's the deal we don't y'all get hot doing worship but here's the deal so the catholic church has been the biggest proponent of the pro-life movement they will inspire people of their flocks to stand in front of clinics to a problem created by someone outside the realm of our everyday someone with power and strategy and even a eugenics-based focus they will they will encourage people about the plight of the womb and tell people how bad it is which creates this demonizing of people groups but they will not invest in black communities the same entity that champions life is complicit with death with the same resources used in litigation due to pedophilia where they paid out three billion dollars and did not shut down in l.a one diocese paid out 600 million dollars didn't shut down nothing didn't stop operations and no layoffs i need some vatican money in boston one diocese forked out 53 million dollars didn't miss a beat with those same or less resources catholic private schools could scholarship young black people children they could offer robust summer programming like art music and self-defense they can facilitate summer construction programs that gives kids an opportunity to make some of that union money but instead let's inspire our congregants to stand on the sidewalk with pictures and signs my brothers and sisters this is the hypocrisy we talk about the second thing that the catholic church could do here's what they can do since they got power and they got connections that's what they could do they could have all the planned parenthood who it's moved what do you mean 79 percent of planned parenthood surgical abortion facilities are strategically located within walking distance of black and or hispanic communities 79 so you wonder why that number's so high if i can walk to it and have access to it i have nothing to do in the summer so what do kids with hormones do they start looking at each other like i like you i like you i like you i like you i like you baby baby later and then all of a sudden we create the problem step from the problem condemn those who are affected by the problem demonize the problem and then say see those people those people this study coincides with the historical revelations that eugenices including margaret sanger the owner operator and founder of planned parenthood believe that eugenics is this study uh of how to arrange reproduction within the human population to increase the occurrence of heritable characteristic characteristics regarded as desirable so i want an all-white neighborhood i'm gonna have all white folk get in that neighborhood and have babies i want people with this kind of nose or this kind of intelligence so i'm gonna have them get together and then anything undesirable i.e black are people of color let's kill those what you don't understand is that we oftentimes look at the backdrop to planned parenthood but not the system the intent and we get real indignant and righteous on our pulpits we should not be we should be this is just bad and then when we talk about justice and equity the first thing that some of our brethren who are white on the other side of the eye will say well you all need to deal with that abortion thing you created the problem now one black doctor has the money to put all these planned parenthoods up in fact it's funded by if you start the research by the republican party now y'all ain't like that but six percent of your tax dollars go to the creation of planned parenthood it used to be 15 of their budget which is in the hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars my point to you all is we often look at the symptoms without going to the cause on the cure um i won't read this but i want to talk to you real quickly about what planned parenthood got a lot of momentum and i call it the republican political party hypocrisy richard nixon was a big proponent of family planning here's what they did they switched the name from planned parenthood in legal circles and they termed it family planning but they were talking about the same thing here's what tricky richard i can't say that i just don't want to say that tricky richard that's what i was saying ah i'm gonna just share a few sentiments in 1972 that gave planned parenthood so much robust financing that tricky richard said out of his own mouth y'all ready it's gonna shock you these are his quotes he says a majority of people in colorado voted for abortion i think a majority of people in michigan are for abortion i think in both cases well certainly in michigan they will vote for it because they think that what's going to be aborted generally are little black bastards next quote as i told you we talked about it earlier that uh i'm gonna say the word a hell of a lot of people want to control the negro bastards another word another quote you know what we are talking about population control um do i have another one yet one more show the next one we're talking really and what john rockefeller realizes look the people in what we call our class control in our class i'm sorry the people in what we call our class control their populations sometimes they'll have a family of six or seven or eight or nine but it's an exception this is in the halls of political power one of the most powerful nations in the world and you want this little 16 year old girl to have a fighting chance against such power when you disinvest communities cut off all the financial tributaries to the hood watch it die then blame it on black leadership create the problem step away from the problem demonize those who are the victims of the problem and then create policies to keep the problem a problem so you can say you're doing something about the problem for example did y'all know that there is one um trillion dollars allotted to solving poverty in america it's in the line item one trillion dollars is allotted in the budget of america to solve poverty i got an answer give everybody a check you can solve poverty quickly y'all like y'all don't need money [Applause] as i close as i close so what would jesus say he would turn the tables upside down he would not endorse corner picketing he would get down into the problem areas and he would do life with the people he would speak to hope because that's what i learned a lot about in fact corn i'm going to tell you something in my spirit is about hope i don't know if we can create songs around hope but it's in my spirit real heavy because that's a lot of people that's walking in despair you know what you know what despair is or a lack of hope is it means i have no future it means i don't see past now so i'm gonna do whatever i can to make myself happy now which means i might do some crazy stuff hope says i'ma avoid that pothole cause i see a future that's what hope says and when you when you talk people of color and blacks in in this abortion conversation interview them interview that young lady and she'll say i just didn't see no way out i just saw no future i didn't want to bring a child into the environment i i know i'm cold people but i had no hope see it's easy to talk from our prosperity and our posture about what we would never do this is why jesus didn't go to the upper the up of his community that's why jesus was not born in a nice castle in jerusalem it is why jesus made it clear birth me in a manger because i'm about to deal with some mess from some people with mess [Music] here's what jesus would say last scripture i'm out your way he would turn the tables and he would say this to them isaiah 40 31 but those who hope in the lord will renew their strength they will soar on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not be faithful hope captivates the mind towards a future that is not quite here yet hope dissipates despair and guides the ability of the human mind to dream again it sets the course and jesus says you will have hope and you will renew your strength he says you're about to take off you're about to soar you're about to go somewhere hope not a handout because you know we're big on handouts like it's taking your money it's not a zero-sum game trust me america spends a lot of money in spaces you don't even know about when to spend 10 trillion dollars in a war that wasn't a war my point is not knocking on voices because my dad served korean war my brother served in iraq war and my other brother served in the name so we got our dues in thank you uncle sam we out my point to you is that we often talk zero-sum game no like the movie leprechaun who stole me putts with goat no one is stealing nothing from you to help the poor will not diminish you in fact the bible is clear god honors you god rewards you even more and so my whole point is hope and this is how we go in this today cause we're dealing with some sticky deep stuff i want to pray for hope man i want to pray that you might have you might not give up on your dream your hope that whatever you have fought to get here whatever past mistakes you may have made i don't know i'm not here to judge you no incriminate you i'm here to tell you that that god has a view of you that's far different than people's view of you can we stand all over the house hope i want to just pray for hope today dreams i want them to come alive again i want you to start thinking good of yourself again yes i do i want you especially my ladies i want you to start saying to yourself i am beautiful i'm blessed i'm called everything i touch is prosperous where i walk god walks with me i want you to begin to speak to the wounds of your yesterday and i want you to begin to personify them and say wounds you will not have control over my future you will not dictate what i can do in life i will excel i will break this generational curse and i will do it i will do it without dying in the way i will set a foundation for my children's children's children to prosper to soar to have strength again it's so simple yet we make it so difficult don't we can i pray for you can i pray for you father in the name of jesus i just pray that you come into the privacy of our hearts and homes i pray god that you will begin to minister to the heart that is broken that is wounded that has given up on its dream i pray god that you would right now begin to strengthen those who are weakened by circumstances beyond their control that you will give them a glimpse of tomorrow and even of next year and even of years to come let them begin to be reinvigorated with hope that they begin to see themselves coming out of whatever they're in that whatever choices they have made that you are god you can restore the broken places you can give them back that which the cankerworm the palmer worm and the locust has devoured you're the god who can make dead bones come alive again my prayer is that you would begin to awaken them to their greatness their calling their uniqueness they were designed by you they were crafted by you they were strengthened by you they were intended to be here now let them come alive let them come alive let them change neighborhoods cities and policies and corporate environments let them change the way the game is played right now and let them have divine inspiration every person under the sound of my voice i pray that they get their hope back i pray they get their hope back i pray that they hope their hope is revived that from the dead places will come life we give you praise right now for what's about to be we give you praise right now for what's ahead of us we give you praise right now for helping us to be trailblazers that break down the barriers the walls and all of the ugliness of life we give you praise right now in jesus name now let's give god some praise hallelujah hallelujah
