[Music] [Music] hello everybody and welcome into my latest live broadcast today it's the 19th of April 2024 my name is Carrie Holzman and thank you guys so much for joining me on this lovely Friday before the 100 degree days get here in Phoenix they're coming soon they're right around the corner and uh let's see excuse me see a lot of my friends in blue joining us in the chat room and a contribution in Super Chat from our friend Alan lindos at $7.77 he says here's another current fee I'm on time for a change time nice nice uh thank you also to Frankie B with a very generous PayPal contribution prior to the show beginning to help keep us sponsor free speaking speaking of sponsor free I do want you to know that we have if you're not already aware which I'm sure most of you are partnered up with some manufactures of software and services that I use to get you discounts so these aren't sponsors in a traditional sense where they tell us what we can say or can't say but rather an arrangement where I use their software in my business I've been using their software for years and years and I use it personally and I reached out to him and said hey you know I really like your software can we do something for the audience and the folks over at acronis said absolutely and so for the rest of this year you get 30% off their subscription the folks at Robo form the password manager I use and recommend uh that's 30% off new subscribers our friends at VIP cdk deals for the windows and Microsoft Office license keys that I purchase for my customers and myself 30% off you know what I'm starting to realize everything's 30% off you can pay full price if you want to the these products are all sold at great prices um I've been paying full price for years and I always think it's a bargain so to get an additional 30% off uh in exchange for them supporting not only myself but you guys is to me a much better opportunity than sitting here spouting out some marketing script that's been written for me to say by some corporate entity controlling the words that are coming out of my mouth so none of these deals are like that and that's all thanks to you guys and thanks to acronis Robo form and VIP cdk deals for supporting us over here so that we can continue to be unbiased and honest even if it's not uh sometimes sometimes it's not corporate friendly sometimes corporations frown on the way I approach things but when it comes to my ability to stay in business as a PC repair technician um my livelihood is at stake and it's not something I take lightly and if a manufacturer doesn't think about that and they put my company in a position where I could lose my company because of their own selfishness I want to expose that company and I want to make sure that you're all aware of it and um you know if you're buying one motherboard it's inconvenient enough imagine if you're buying a 100 and the motherboard manufacturer has done something like I I don't know overvolting your Intel chips without telling you without making it easy to put it back and uh in some cases remaining a mystery I do expect to see some bios updates coming out to address what we talked about last Friday which is why all these motherboards are out on the uh table here and that's because there's a trend going around from these motherboard makers universally nobody is exempt from this that I'm aware of the four big ones ASRock Asus gigabyte MSI Are all overvolting uh both Intel and AMD chips so um this is a trend this never happened before a couple of years ago and I suspect it's going to come to an end here real quick or at least they're going to make the end user more aware that it's happening and make it clearer more conspicuous um more obvious of how to turn it off or set it back to the defaults in my opinion as I stated before the defaults should automat automatically be set unless you have the knowledge to go into BIOS and change it the rest of everybody should be left at defaults it should not be the other way around it's the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life it's the worst possible decision an engineer could possibly make and uh I suspect it may not have been a decision made by the engineer but rather made by a manager who manages the engineers who shouldn't be a manager in my opinion they they have absolutely no understanding of the the rules and I suspect a real engineer would have been opposed to this it may have been but did what their boss has told him to do anyway so likely and again I'm speculating how this got this bad but I'm guessing it's the fault of the managers that really don't have a clue but regardless of that I do expect them to be called to the carpet on it I expect more awareness brought to this issue and I expect Intel will put their foot down uh what I expect and what I get maybe two entirely different things however um I'll keep you up to date as the news progresses and in the meantime you can go back to last week's video if you want to see if you're affected by this or if you're running constantly hot temperatures and you can't figure out why stop wasting your money on coolers and thermal compounds and fans it has nothing to do with that it has to do with your motherboard manufacturer overvolting your 12th 13th and 14th generation Intel chips which does cause CPU degradation rapidly which means you probably will suffer a catastrophic CPU failure potentially within warranty and at Intel's cost and your inconvenience to replace it but that's all speculative we'll have to look back on this in a while and see how it all plays out but as we're in the middle of it trying to figure out where you know our bearings what's going on right now this is my best guess as to what's happening the solution and what's going to happen next we'll see if I predicted it correctly or if I'm way off but being in the industry this seems to be the only way forward but uh I'm wrong more than I'm right in regards to assuming what's going to happen next I never thought Windows Microsoft would name Windows 11 Windows 11 it was so unoriginal and so so basic um and lazy I thought there's no way Microsoft is going to do that and then they did it so I've been and my predictions are usually wrong I'm hoping one way or any another I don't I don't care if I'm right or I'm wrong I'm hoping for a solution to this sooner rather than later and if it's a solution I never saw coming coming as long as it's a solution as soon as I'm aware of it I will make a video and let you guys know all right so you'll notice today I've not set up a specific topic for the video because well I have a ton of work to do I mean I've got a lot of things to show you and other systems to build every once in a while I need to mix it up a little bit and do something different and today I thought let's do that let's let's talk about what's on your mind here in the chat room and I'll do my best to provide an answer for you or direct you to an answer or look to the chat room for an answer and I would encourage you to participate in today's video we shoot these live it's all one take um there's about a 4 second delay between when I talk and when you hear me it doesn't get much more live than that other than being in person so I will do my best to provide answers and uh as I mentioned we have a very great Community here in the chat room that also I hope will offer alternative answers or other answers so do check the chat room for potential answers to your question there as well Garfield just renewed his membership now now a member for 16 months right on thank you Garfield and look at all these friends in blue we got hanging out with us good to see everybody and uh new friends there in uh in white and some returning guests in white so for those of you that are wondering what's with all the blue names these are regular viewers that are no um Regular participators in the chat room and as long as you're friendly kind have nice things to say positive supportive or don't say anything at all as long as you're nice and you're participating eventually I turn you blue because I start to recognize you other times people may be blue because um they've been supportive to the channel uh in other ways whether through their as I previously mentioned their participation but also through Super Chat contributions and other forms of contributions and sharing the content on their social media platforms to help us you know um grow our audience and then you'll see the little gold Badges and those little gold badges those are members and members are also uh green you'll see some names in green and they'll be a number within the badge that shows the minimum number of months that they've been members so there's not a badge for every month there's sort of a new badge and then I think a TW Monon and then a 6 month and a 12 month and then 24 36 48 so anybody with a 12 could be at 23 uh YouTube doesn't allow us to do anything other than in those segments so if it if I had it my way I'd have a badge that accurately represented the number of months they've been supporting it's because of the supporters that we able to do what we're doing without that big corporate sponsorship these videos are profoundly expensive to make and uh trying to finance it all without corporate sponsorship is quite difficult at least if I want to make as many videos as I've been making uh I used to show a lot more PC repairs but customers these days are a lot more uh privacy aware and really don't want their computer shown on camera to a bunch of strangers around the world they are concerned that there could be some private information that gets out and so as with The Changing Times we have to change with it and accommodate we always want to make sure that the customer um understands what we do and if they don't want it filmed they just want it repaired we obviously will honor that request happily the idea of filming the diagnostic and the repair is sort of icing on the cake where I'm fixing it anyway so why don't I show you the diagnostic and repair procedure unfortunately the world is evolved since we started doing this back in 2008 here on YouTube and um uh uh in many cases consumers have moved smartphones and tablets and have gotten rid of the computers all together uh a lot of people have figured out it's way better to own a console if what you want to do is game it's cheaper it's less problem prone you know like with these chips overheating and such during gameplay you're not going to experience that on a console and you're not going to spend anywhere near as much money uh getting things to work and play properly on a console is easy it's super easy it's less expensive it's more reliable it's a better controller so I do think we're starting to see a shift whether or not that comes back or becomes you know PC gaming becomes a big big thing again it's been dwindling so if you look now at like video card prices they're having a hard time selling them I mean the economy as a whole the car manufactures I have a hard time selling cars Tesla's in trouble everybody's struggling so I think 2024 is a off year but it's also a great opportunity to reconsider if what you've been using is right for you if what you're doing online is mostly looking at YouTube videos checking email you probably don't need a computer in the sense of a PC or even a laptop probably your phone will do that already and if your phone doesn't because you can't afford one of the phones that can if you weren't putting all the money into the PC the phone would probably be a great replacement and you'd have it with you everywhere you go but also as a Creator myself I can't do that really on the phone not for these kind of videos not live it's just not going to work well for me however there are creators that work solely on their phone and their phone alone and um that doesn't necessarily mean that they're less successful in many cases they're more successful based on what they do uh the kind of content that they cover so depending on what your individual needs are what your budget is there's still a need for PC today but mostly in businesses um businesses almost can't run on anything but PCS but for the home users it's really an individual preference for most people it's they have options so let's take a look here in the chat and see what you guys are saying hey Michael MacArthur's been a member now for 23 months right on thank you so much Michael he says hello Carrie marlea and chat bajin guy became a supporter right on thank you bajin guy and uh let's see what we have we have any questions that I have missed I'm going to scroll through here van lar says hello from Scotland thanks again to our friend Mark Gaines in Northern Ireland with the contribution on the last video Richard palmantier says hello Garfield rupe as I mentioned I think I mentioned renews membership for now is 16th month Rob Dvorak wants to know which motherboard do I currently recommend well it kind of depends on what your budget and what your needs are and what size motherboard and what kind of case it's going in and what CPU you're putting into it but for me I've been using a lot of ASRock boards lately but that's for my needs my budget and my requirements so I don't know what you need and I don't know what I would call the best it's always changing however I would say that the most common board you've been seeing me use in the last few videos should speak for itself and make it fairly obvious that azrock has been the go-to the gigabyte and assus Boards you see in front of you were they're purchased just for the uh video I did last week um having used both of them and reminded me exactly why I'm using azrock so but to each their own I don't think any of them are really worse than others some have better value some have better support some have uh an easier to navigate bios for me to understand but I can't you know speak for you so right now for me and this does change a lot during 2024 ASRock has been my board of choice thank you for the question AI Beauties wants to know the best way to get thermal paste off CPU pins o oo ow are we talking about a CPU that has pins on it are we talking about a CPU socket that has pins on it either way I would love to know how the heck that happened in most cases the amount of time in um cleaning materials you will need may make it cheaper to replace the the CPU or the board depending on which one's affected um Greg Salazar has a video on that and uh the amount of time that he spends on it and his result I don't think are worth it as a as someone who runs a computer business it would cost you more to pay me to do that and it would take longer than if we just swapped out the part that's the unfortunate truth of the times we're living and it's not very ecologically friendly but the amount of time that you will spend to clean that I can have three or four computers completely fixed with the same exact Problem by switching Parts in fact that's kind of the the state of the world with regards to just about anything now actually repairing something unless it's extraordinarily and profoundly expensive it's usually cheaper to replace it so there are some Apple products that are quite expensive well most Apple products actually and so you'll see more Apple repair because they're more expensive to replace repair can be cheaper but on the PC side not only can repair be more expensive but you could use it as an opportunity to make it better so you can say well if I've got thermal Compound on the pins of a CPU and it's going to be faster and cheaper to just replace the CPU with guaranteed and warranteed results why not go ahead and get the next level up CPU it's only a few dollars more you know what I mean and you turn lemons into lemonade it's a great excuse to upgrade but if money is tight and you've got nothing else better to do when you've got all day I would suppose some rubbing alcohol in a gentle hand with uh something soft that isn't going to bend those pins it's going to be a challenge because if you damage it you're right back to where I said which was just replace it because once you break it you'll have to replace it so you you could be spending more money trying to fix it only to end up having to replace it anyway which will cost you more money and take longer than if you would have just followed my advice to begin with Ron barnish with a 20 I'm sorry with a renewal on his membership now a member for 20 months right on thank you Rod all right let's see what other questions you've got in here Michael DNE says he's recovering from a tornado in the area holy cow I haven't heard anything about a tornado out there in in Ohio but uh glad to hear you're okay Phil burner wants to know what's the best program to transfer from Windows 10 to Windows 11 I don't have all the programs that are on the Windows 10 machine unfortunately you should just go ahead and stay with Windows 10 the um Microsoft has been really pushing the marketing for Windows 11 for the last 3 years warning about how Windows 10 is going to end in October October 14th of 2025 that's a long way away it was further away last year and and it's still far away this year if you don't have the programs as far as I know there is no way to move them can't be done you could try cloning over the Windows 10 machine with the cronis to the the new machine but then you're going to wipe out your windows 11 Pro and then you can try upgrading it to Windows 11 Pro but you're going to carry over all of the Drudge all of the detrius all all of the crap that's built up over years of use that may be the reason why you're upgrading only to essentially your new machine so that it no longer runs reliably or as fast as it could have if you would have just kept it clean and fresh and new everybody knows there's nothing better than a clean windows install especially after years and years of use but if you don't have your programs then you really don't have much of a choice if it's that important to you don't mess with it that would be my advice so you have to sort of pick one or the other you can't get both how can I eat everything I want and lose weight is really there's no answerable question to that how can I keep all of the programs I installed on my old old OS and move them over to my new one and not suffer potential reliability program's not working right or see that's effectively what you're asking us to do is piracy and so being a professional in the industry we don't pirate software we don't condone it and generally we don't talk about it and well you may not see it that way the license that you paid for for your software is like a license on a car in most cases there are some exceptions but you can't say look I've got this license plate on my old car and I want to move it to my new car so I just take these screws out and move it no no no there's paperwork you got to fill out that this in some cases you're not even allowed to do it in other places depending on where you live you have to pay a fee for that so essentially you paid for a license on that machine if you changed the machine you've lost the license trying to move the license to another machine um it it that's not how software manufacturers will approve of the use of their software they'd be happy to sell you another license uh if you find that the software company no longer exists it's because too many people pirated their software they couldn't afford to stay in business and so you're going to find yourself with an obsolete piece of software that's probably riddled with security issues and sticking with it is going to be uh an unfortunate decision in my opinion because it opens you up to all kinds of Fraud and scamming and hacking that could be going on in the background without any obvious knowledge or perception until the damage has been done so it's not something if you were my client and you approached me with this I'd say we're going to we're going to replace the software we're not going to move it if you don't want to do that stick with what you've got that's about the the best I can tell you now if anybody in the chat room has other options I'd certainly be open to it as long as we're not condoning piracy here it's fine with me I'm interested to see if there's other ways of looking at this do I restore motherboard settings for my clients old man 55 wants to know there is no um motherboard settings we go with default motherboard settings we do not modify motherboards there the way that the manufacturers provide the boards is optimal the minute you go in and you start playing with stuff you suffer the consequences my clients they want to make money they're paying employees to do work if the employee is working on something and the computer crashes if the BIOS has to be set a certain way for the customer to work properly uh I will not take that customer on it's too much money and it's it's going to cost me too much money I can't let one customer monopolize me I have one employee and it's me so everything gets done to standards regular default standards and if anybody says the standards aren't good enough well they can pay two to three times more if they insist that they want me to uh support them so for example if a company has uh a specialty employee that does drafting but everybody else does typical office work from email and Word and Excel and all of that then they have this one employee that needs everything special that one employee I'm not going to say look I'm not going to support the company but I will say the normal price for supporting your company is this and then when you add that one guy's computer with all the specialty configuration he's going to cost in support nearly as much as the rest of the company nearly doubling your support cost so uh it's in everybody's benefit that we keep everything default so we keep everything proficient everything efficient everything optimized everything normalized repairs are less frequent and easier and faster to repair when there's no specialization that's someone's got to pay for all the extra time and effort it's not free it's not part of the deal um what brand of SSD do you recommend for reliability I've never seen an unreliable SSD the brands I use would be fasing Samsung SanDisk Western Digital uh who else have I used I'm not aware of there being any SSD reliability issues in fact I say ssds are about 10 times more reliable than hard dis drives it's pretty rare I think on this channel we've seen two bad ssds two or three and those those were 2 and a half inch ssds we haven't seen any failed nvme drives for any reason we started uh using ssds back in 2013 here on the channel never seen other than those two and those two were made by ad data I've heard a lot of stories from people I don't need you to tell me you had a bad SSD I can't speak for you I'm not telling you about your experience I'm telling you as my experience as a professional computer technician that has installed hundreds of them I've seen two bad ones and those were 2 and a half inch no bad nvme drives that I can recall ever in the history since I've been doing this so with regards to manufacturers you're mostly getting performance and support so if you don't care about performance or support you can say a lot of money I do care about performance and support so my preference overall is Samsung or Western Digital they're very top tier if I want to save money but lose the support I'll go with fing if I don't care about the performance or the support you just go with whatever's cheapest and of course I can't stress enough but having backups kind of makes it irrelevant like it doesn't really matter if the statistics say this is the most reliable it doesn't mean that yours is going to be reliable you know your experience is Uniquely Yours it may not represent the statistical data you may be the odd one out and since we can't predict that I mean it could be no fault of your own it could be a power outage or something that spiked the power in the house and caused the the part to get damaged just through an active nature there's all kinds of reasons that people have failed drives when it occurs but a backup is a is really makes this whole process not a big deal so when my customer and let's just take an example here of how I run a business I can't spend hours with one customer or two or three days in a row ignoring all my other customers because they'll all go somewhere else and whenever money I made for that one customer will be less than how much I've lost from my other customers who gave up waiting and needed a solution today I can't hire an employee to do the work because then I'd have to train them and while I'm training them I'm not working or I'm working much slower resulting in customers waiting longer leaving so it's a real pickle to be in what we what I do is I make sure that my customers have current backups and so if anything were to happen let's say a bad hard drive we simply replace the drive restore the backup which is a full image backup made with a cronis they're back up and running in about 20 minutes it's really not a big deal if the drive that failed is under warranty I will bring the drive back RMA that back to the manufacturer and when the replacement Drive comes in I'll put it back on my shelf as a replacement part just a spare good to have spares and if another client has a problem we can replace their failed drive with the spare restore their backup they can keep the spare or if it's like a home user they can borrow the spare well we RMA theirs get the turn back a couple weeks later go back over to that customer once again um instead of backing up and restoring we could just clone what they have replace the spare with a replacement wipe the spare clean put it back on the Shelf it's all very simple stuff it's very stressfree it's less than an hour of work it's really no big deal but if you don't have your backups it's sort of like it's sort of like you're ignoring your own health and you're eating whatever the hell you want to eat and you've been warned that this is causing a health concern and you don't care so you just keep eating the duts and eating the donuts and eating the donuts and then eventually you have a health problem that's gotten so far out of control it requires a lot more time and a lot more money with no guaranteed results versus if you would have acted proactively rather than reactively it would have cost you less taken less time and been less inconvenient so we will suffer the consequences of our decisions so these concerns of failed Parts really don't occur to me as being anything detrimental or to be to have anxiety or concern about we're proactively ready for that at any time we can recover and have them back up and running and when a business goes down it's not just the inconvenience of going down it's the fact that the employee they're paying can't work and the customers that are hiring them can't get helped so it's not just about the cost of the repair it's about how much money money have we lost it's not like the employee clocks out the employee is still getting paid and the customer customer is getting angrier the longer it takes if you went to a grocery store and you filled up your cart with groceries and you went to check out and there was a long line at the checkout I mean a really long line and you found out the reason was because the system crashed and they were working on recovering it but they didn't have any backups so they had no idea how long they were going to be down would you abandon the cart and take your business somewhere else or would you sit there indefinitely until it was your turn to check out with a line that's not moving with no guarantee of when it will start to move I think the answer is pretty clear you're going to abandon the cart and go shopping somewhere else this is how my business works so how home users deal with stuff is often a worst case scenario they don't do any preparation they don't care until it happens to them and then they want to know how do I put out the fire on my house burned down and we're like well you can't you know the house already burned down so just going to have to build a new house if you weren't prepared for it you don't know where the fire exits are and you couldn't get out of the house in time you perish so there's certain things that you should have a plan for in your own personal life in my opinion but if I didn't do that in my business I would not have a business it would just wouldn't be profitable so that's the logic and the reasoning behind the answers that I'm giving you I'm coming the answers I'm giving you coming from running a business not from just being at home with you know a toy a novelty in businesses these aren't toys or Novelties these are tools and a mechanic without good tools or a surgeon without good tools may appear to be incompetent hey there's our friend Frankie B thank you again Frankie for your generous contribution before the show that is so kind of you I I can't tell you how much that means to me and and Frankie B's contributions oyin um our friend Buster out there in Scotland I'm forgetting somebody hate when I do that but with the community being uh being so generous we're able to make more content invest more to uh bring you more variety of content and so if you see them in the chat you know credit where credits do you let them know that you appreciate them Gil Garcia mentions Planet cryos yeah yeah another uh generous and frequent contributor here Planet cryos thank you for the reminder on that Craig casabona with a $10 Super Chat thank you Craig Nick Caffrey with 10 EUR says oops I'm late here's my late fee great to glad to be here thank you Nick uh the late fee is a joke if you're new here it's not a real thing um Rob dvor says what monitor do you recommend for user that doesn't play video games I'm looking at 27 and 32 in screens videos only address gaming monitors thank you well Rob when we talk about if something looks appealing like a piece of artwork or a sculpture if something sounds good like headphones or speakers if something feels good like a keyboard or a mouse this is what we call subjective there is no one right answer and uh the best advice I would of anybody looking for a monitor today is to see them in person your eyes see something only you can see I cannot see what you see the way you see it nobody can there's no way for us to compare what I see and what you see to see how we see it differently the things that we value are going to be different Clarity brightness vibrancy size price warranty uh in some cases weight or even um the the function of the button some some monitors have a little joystick button on the bottom to control the menu some people hate that some monitors will have a USBC power output so you can power a Mini PC or even a laptop potentially right from the Monitor and then you don't need a power cable except from the monitor then you could hook up that monitor through USBC right to your Mini PC or your laptop without any other cables and your power ing the Mini PC while at the same time feeding video to the monitor through one cable if that's important to you right so go to the stores whatever's around you see them in person if there's a particular model that appeals to you you know considering price warranty featur size then maybe if you're looking for the best price make a note of the make a model of that you can take a quick picture with your phone or just make a note with a pen and paper or if you've got your phone on you do a search right there in the store do a Google search for that model or even just look on Amazon or newe see if it sells cheaper for the exact same thing online if you don't need it right this second if you do need it right this second then obviously it's probably worth paying a little bit more for under those circumstances as would be an emergency room visit is a lot more expensive than a scheduled visit so uh at the end of the day it's whatever you decide looks best to you and is the the best value to you what you see as value and what I see as value may be and are likely two very different things so at the end of the day it's important you buy what you like I don't know what you like you don't know what your budget is I don't know how important support and warranty are so uh these are all things for you to consider now after you've purchased one if you want to come back and share your experience with us we love to hear from experience from our audience just to share their own individual thoughts so that people know that I'm not making stuff up um or that somebody's experience is very different from mine and then you can decide you know it can help you to understand like any review you're going to see five star reviews Four 3 two one and then you can kind of see when you're deciding if that's important to you where the scales are with that which ones are there more negative reviews are there more positive reviews rather than just listening to me and just following what I say again with different values and different requirements I just need to stay in business and make sure my customers stay happy so I have uh some pretty serious requirements there's a a lot more at stake for me than a home user who just might be inconvenienced or have a little buyer remorse I could become homeless so it's really really critical that I remain consistent I can't sell a bunch of different makes and models and then be expect expected to answer customers questions on them I need to find one that's good in in in those requirements where I can make a profit and it's not necessarily specific to a customer but rather to all customers so for example if I install Microsoft Office I can answer the customer's questions because it's so commonly used but if the customer has a specialty piece of software in their industry I don't know anything about it and I'm not sure I really want to learn it to help one customer and then I have a business decision to make if my dentist has a piece of software called dentrix and they want to pay me to do it to support it instead of dentrix I could flip my business into being a dentrix support and license myself through dentrix where they would then recommend me to dentists in my service area where I don't even have to do any advertising and because I'm so specialized I can get paid a lot more per hour because there's less competitors that have that knowledge I tend to lean towards I'd rather have more customers and make less money from each one than to be a specialist so so narrow that [Music] um finding the customers is quite difficult but I would charge them three to four times more for the same hour of my time and they would be grateful to have it because there wouldn't be many others they could choose from so that's the idea at the end of the day there's not a right or wrong way it's just really what I prefer to do versus what you would prefer to do all right thank you for the questions let's see what else we have going on in here madman said your videos helped me build my own two PCS thank you and have a great day right on there's nothing better than building your own PC it's very fulfilling you notice he didn't build one because after you build one you're going to want to build another one at a very minimum it's very addictive oh Garrett said your CPU stream the other day was some of your best work in my opinion well done well thank you Paul a flattery will get you everywhere I appreciate that do I recommend AMD or Intel CPUs for new builds it's like asking me if I prefer Toyota versus Nissan or Ford or Chevy because you want to drive Uber at the end of the day it's really your decision to make I don't think either product is um worse than the other one or better value you you're still going to have the same problems with regards to the voltage issues or the wattage issues that we've been talking about because well you're focused on the CPU if all you were buying was a CPU and you didn't need a motherboard Ram solid state drive power supply or operating system or a case there could be a difference right but if you're asking me which tires to put on your car does really change your car very much in the sense that you still have the same interior the same paint the same design the same ride more or less the same ride quality same engine the same transmission probably around the same gas mileage right the minute you you Veer a way to designing your own thing you're probably going to be far more money into it far less efficient so if you stick with what the manufacturer recommends you probably end up with something that's overall better on on all accounts power performance gas mileage Comfort etc etc ET on the other hand when you put bad tires on a brand new car like in the case of the Ford Explorer with the Firestone tires that were failing and causing the Ford Explorer to roll over um this was many years ago for those of you that remember a lot of people blamed Ford when in fact it was the tire manufacturer so some would argue yeah but Ford chose to use those tires I understand but Ford didn't make the tires so we run into one of these issues where well is Intel better than uh AMD and it kind of depends what you want to use the CPU for depending on your use case scenario in AMD may be slightly more optimized for the way you plan to use it or Intel may be slightly more optimized for how you plan I don't have a single business customer with an AMD CPU and I don't see very many gamers on users running anything other than AMD CPU but they're still using the same everything else they're using the same manufacturers of motherboards cases power supplies Ram uh storage so you're just changing one part and you're asking me is that going to make a big difference no it it really it it can it can make a big difference in how much support it needs it can make a big difference if you're buying a toy or you're buying a tool and I'm not saying that AMD is a toy and Intel is a tool either one can be toys or tools and that really makes the difference more so than the chip itself or the manufacturer rather but how it's being used is this a novelty is this a hobby is this being used in a business and in some cases in businesses an AMD would be a better option I'm just saying none of my customers are um business customers use amds and that's not really anything other than an observation it has nothing to do with me I build my customers what they want that's what they want now I will say if a customer has a mix of both Intel and AMD I will charge them more for the support because now there's things that happen or prone to happen on one side that are not prone to happen on the other and if I have to do both for this one customer they need to pay me more for that we want to be as consist consistent as possible across the business and all machines so that support can be consistent and optimization efficiency and reliability can be sort of predefined but the minute we start just throwing whatever we've got into a bag you know it's not balanced and therefore it's uh it's going to be more prone to issues in which I'm expected to have a a wider array of knowledge and that's fine as long as they're paying for that so with they might think they're saving money by mixing they'll be spending more on the support side so picking one or the other will ultimately be cheaper in a business situation and again I appreciate the question Aaron with a $10 Super Chat thank you a a Ron uh let's see what else we've got here I'm loving these questions keep them coming will my uncle carries Optimizer run on Windows 11 yes it runs fine on Windows 11 uh thank you for the question there are some updates I'm thinking about doing for the Windows 10 Optimizer to make it a Windows 11 Optimizer this is a terrible time to implement any changes with 24 H2 coming out it's going to change a lot of stuff so the last thing I want to do is is have development time and and effort put in by uh Nick over at d7x Tech go through all the testing and then turn around and find out you know two months after we release it that half of the settings were already applied by default or don't or no longer exist in the 24 H2 so until 24 H2 comes out and depending on if it resolves some of my preferences or you know removes some things that annoy me that I need to remove by hand we'll see what happens um if necessary though if there's still a lot of changes that I'm making by hand in 24 H2 basically I make a list of everything I'm changing I send that over to Nick and I say can we automate this and he'll tell me if it's possible or not and if he says he can't do it then there won't be any updates so when Microsoft is changing all these updates take place and it's not always just a simple registry edit fortunately sometimes it is sometimes it isn't there's a lot of rumors going around about like adver iing in the start menu and stuff but you can turn that off in the control panel under personalization privacy uncheck a box can that be automated maybe will it be on it's it's on in a in a preview build but that doesn't mean that's what they're releasing to the public so until Microsoft actually has it out and it's official there's nothing for me to respond to or put any time or effort in so for right now yes I do run the Windows 10 Optimizer on Windows 11 it works fine Gregory Howard with a $20 Super Chat right on thank you Gregory he says here's my late fee maybe I can get back on track hey everyone hey Carrie thank you Gregory appreciate you blackwatch says I was under the impression a lot of the mini PCS came with a drive of 500 gig up to 1 tbte is this not so it's the same with any PC I'm not aware of of laptops or desktops in general like if you averaged out your average pre-built machine or laptop what size drive it comes with it's no different on many PCs there are some that offer bigger drives um but no differently it's nothing any different so depends on what uh price point you're looking at a more expensive laptop will offer a bigger drive and a more expensive pre-built machine will offer a bigger drive and more expensive Mini PC will offer a bigger drive but they don't sell as many of the expensive ones they sell more of the budget in mid-range overall by probably eight or N9 to one so it may leave you with the false impression that that's what they do but it's an option that is the most common option selected by the consumer so you're going to see more of it but it's not the only choice you do have options it's all based on how much money you want to spend just like with cars Melody lens 86 contributes 10 Australian doll well thank you melody lens 86 for supporting our channel here appreciate you Arnold wants to know if I came up with a fix on the gigabyte board to adjust the pl1 and pl2 I did but I haven't tested it we've we've run into a little bit of a I've had a couple of people reach out to me and say after I did this my my CPU performance went down by 60% or you know I'm like no no no no no no you didn't follow my steps your CPU performance won't go down by more than 10% it it's very inefficient to run those high power settings imagine I was holding a picture of water and a cup and I said here's how we fill the cup and I just picture in your head me pouring water into a cup I'm not spilling anything it's taking a little while right but I'm pouring it as fast as I can get it without any spilling and then you stop your stopwatch and say it took you this many seconds to fill that cup of water okay watch what happens when I take the same cup empty and take the picture and just dump the whole picture that cup fills up instantly but 2third of the picture is all over the floor now you look at your stopwatch and you go well you filled that up a lot faster but look at all the waste so if you ever watch like an assembly line where they're filling soda bottles or beer bottles you don't really see much spillage it's pretty much precise because it costs the company money so those bottles can only be filled at an optimal speed not the fastest speed and so many end users that create content here on YouTube that advise and promote um overclocking uh don't really fully disclose the consequences of doing so which is reduction in the life of the CPU the CPU degradation the cost of electricity the loss of efficiency the heat that it generates and ultimately the teeny tiny performance gain you get in comparison to what it was before you messed with it so to go through all of that expense and trouble and troubleshooting just to get a little tiny boost and to have it cost more and be less reliable and lower the life of the product there certainly no business in Manu ufacturing would have that much waste they'd go out of business so it just makes sense to me in all aspects of life as much as possible to not overindulge it's gluttony I can't afford gluttony so uh you know I try and find balance in you know the car that I drive I don't want a piece of junk and I don't want something so expensive that it needs constant maintenance and depreciates rapidly and costs a lot to Ure trying to find something in the middle same with a house I don't want a a mansion that's a lot to maintain it cost a lot of money even if I had the money to buy it it would be a big mistake for me to buy it unless I could also afford to pay people to take care of it for me it's a lot of work and then you know the same goes with like owning a boat I would rather rent a boat than own a boat to me the rental will be cheaper and then I use it and then I give it back and I'm done with it I don't have all the maintenance registration insurance licensing I don't want to deal with it but if I'm somebody who's out on the water every day that's a different story so in some cases it makes sense to indulge if it's something that's your it's really about what's important to you as an individual versus what's not important what are you willing to sacrifice and how badly do you want it so when we talk about overclocking what I keep seeing is I keep seeing people who can't really afford to do this think they're getting away with free performance when it's not free when you're having to buy bigger coolers and more expensive thermal compounds and contact frames you're worried about air flow and you've got all this anxiety and all this stress and your system is running straight it's crashing on you it's being unreliable it's flaking out if you would have just left it alone it sort of becomes a tortoise in a hair story where we build a machine for grandma with a graphics card and we build it all to stock settings and Grandma's enjoying her computer we build you the same computer but you start overclocking it changing the cooler and doing all this funky stuff in the Bios that you saw somebody do in the internet which is just to me it's moronic but it's your choice I mean far be it for me to judge your actions but then they start looking for help and come to find out they've burned out their video card it's dead it is complet completely dead it's not covered by warranty because they did it to themselves and in the meantime Grandma's machine is smoking it's fast it's reliable and well for a little while they were faster than Grandma's machine so they're both equal this person overclocks it and does all this extreme stuff in the Bios and they're faster than Grandma but not by much and then their system dies but Grandma's machine's still right here now what's what's the race look like who's ahead now it's like suggesting your tires or your transmission have nothing to do with your car's performance have you driven a car without tires have you driven a car with a broken transmission so you could go through all this effort to have a faster car but in the race if it breaks down on you the slower car will win every time so do you want reliability do you want experimental research and development uh how much money do you have to spend on this stuff can you afford it do you mind or do you look forward to the mental stress of it not working and having to resolve it out your own figure it out on your own and spend your own money to fix it in the meantime Grandma's not spending any money she's already got the system it's left alone it's running perfectly fine she's not stressed out who would you rather be so as somebody who runs a business I'm going to have a happier customer if they don't deal with crashes and shutdowns and you know whether or not the machine's 10% faster it matters not they're not going to read any faster they're not going to type any faster if I get nicer pots and pans I'm not going to be a better Chef if I get a more expensive piano I don't become a better piano player no matter what graphics card I put in my machine doesn't make me a better gamer you have to put the work in and that's why a seven-year-old with nothing else to do all day but play fortnite on an 8-year-old machine their parents gave them will kick your butt every single time as an adult with the latest and greatest Hardware that you've overclocked that runs great on benchmarks but you suck using it because you spent all of your time trying to compensate for your inabilities by having a fast computer if I buy a crappy camera does that mean I can't take good photographs and if I buy a more expensive camera does that mean my photographs are better this idea that anybody with money can be better than you because they can buy nicer stuff doesn't mean they know how to use it properly there's plenty of videos of people that own hypercars and supercars Lamborghinis and McLarens doing stupid stuff making bad decisions and driving them right into a pole cuz they're morons and they bought too much car and they just assumed what do I need to learn how to drive this for in fact when you talk about quarter mile drag racing it's not about speed it's about consistency so if you can cross that quarter mile line insistently and let's say doesn't even have to be let's say you you're racing up against the 300 mph car and you've got a 1975 Chevy chevet it might be 27 seconds before you cross the line but if every time you cross the line it's 27 seconds you will beat and you will win the the uh quarter mile race because the way that works is if if the 27 second car is next to a 3se second car if they both run consistently then if the 27 second car gets a 24 second Head Start so there's only 3 seconds left right between 24 and 27 and this car needs 3 seconds and they should both cross the finish line at exactly the same time the one who is more consistent is the one who wins not the one that was faster so at the end of the day it's not about what you have it's how you use it and just because you have more does not mean you're using more and just because your benchmarks are reporting back numbers it doesn't actually mean anything in reality it's all all it's it's all an illusion it's there to prioritize numbers that don't reflect reality and the way people use computers and it's great let's say for example you remember the board game Operation where you had the the little guy there and you had to operate on them by using a metal pair of like tweezers and if you touch the edges it would buzz and you lost your turn just because you're really good at that game doesn't make you a good surgeon and just because you're a good surgeon in real life does not mean you're automatically going to be really good at that game they are totally unrelated in the fact that re-rate benchmarks in this industry especially here on YouTube and on the internet to Quality or performance has nothing and I'm telling you as a business owner been doing this over 30 years it's all imaginary conjecture and nonsense that has no basis in reality so while you can chase after these imaginary numbers that these companies will tell you have value the fact that you believe it astounds me it's absolutely astounding to me now when we talk about actual measurable numbers like heat I can get a heat gun uh a touchless heat gun and I can verify the heat coming off the machine and I can see benchmarks on a video card that are outstanding but when I play the game I want to play with the settings I want to play Under the video card just sucks there's a reason why there's no discrete graphics card in here and that's because for me for what I do the building Graphics are better so it's not like a universal this is always better if you do this it depends on how you use it it also depends on your budget and how much you care how important is it to you is it important that you have the latest and greatest and you have a bottomless pit of money or are you like most of us and you're trying to just get the best bang for the buck and you got your Neighbors showing off and you feel like you have to keep up don't waste your time keeping up don't play the game it's never a game you can win you will pay and go in debt for years and years and years trying to impress people you don't even know who if you even met them you probably wouldn't even like them you know you do you and if that's what you want to do far be it from me to tell you not to but um I'm just trying to raise your awareness so that you can make an informed decision that's right for you not for me not to keep up with any if you want to keep up with the Joneses don't let me get in your way at your money at your time but I certainly don't run a business successfully sustainably with that mentality I just wouldn't be in business anymore there's there's has there has to be a logical uh arguable reason to justify spending any money and inconvenience to the customer so when a system's down and the customer's calling me we've already established all that but when I'm trying to tell my customer the systems you have are so old you should replace them now or ASAP maybe before the end of the year I don't say you have to replace them right now but just a heads up this is coming strongly recommend it I can't make a customer do it if the customer says we don't have the money for it I'll say that's fine after the end of this year the cost of supporting those machines is going up and then the customer might say well we're going to take our business somewhere else and I'll say bye or the customer might say well for that much money we could just replace the machines so which way you want to go Microsoft is doing this no differently with Windows 10 they'll say you could give us some money to keep supporting Windows 10 after October 14th 2025 but the windows 11 upgrade is free but if the windows 11 upgrade is free and there's no cost to keeping Windows 10 you just keep Windows 10 so Microsoft says well if you keep Windows 10 we're not going to support it no more updates so as the bad guys all over the world are using the latest Hardware to attack you you'll have less and less protection every day you stubbornly and foolishly continue to use Windows 10 connected to the internet but it's your money it's your identity we don't care doesn't affect us and you're like well my computer's not compatible with Windows 11 okay well you can pay us this much money to continue support on Windows 10 and you'll say well after three years of that I could have bought a new machine I mean a nice one and they'll say yeah you could have see they're kind of forcing the consumer's Hand by charging them so the consumer's going to say well that's too much money the other one's free yeah it's a very sneaky marketing way to get customers to make the right decision and for Microsoft to avoid the blame of what happens when they don't that Microsoft could say hey we gave you options we gave you the option to pay or we gave you the option to upgrade for free you chose neither and now you've been hacked all your money's been drained out of your account your identity's been stolen you've lost everything you're going to have to pay attorneys and go to court for years to figure this out to get it all straightened out but don't blame us you can't sue us for it we gave you options I think it's genius I I really really like this concept that Microsoft has come out with because in Prior operating systems they didn't do this so I very much think that this is going to make the decision for the end user a lot clearer so they understand that if you choose to ignore the options with whatever excuses you have the only consequences are yours and you have nobody to blame but you I it's pretty clear I don't normally agree with Microsoft tactics but this one I thought it was really really pretty good really well thought out and yeah you have options you don't have to run Microsoft you could switch over to Apple you could learn Linux go for it Linux will run fine and secure on Old machines even though Linux they just recently found a very major bug serious major bug glaring big open hole in Linux however you know now that they know it's there they can fix it but at least it continues to be supported and it'll run on older Hardware it's not as userfriendly it does require a more technical mindset so whether you pay with your time or you pay with your money it's a decision each one of us needs to make on her own and you'll have consequences either way consequences of spending the money is you might have wanted to do something else with that money but if a computer's just a toy to you you won't care if the computer is a tool to you then the money is nothing can you imagine if a if you went to somebody like a mechanic or a surgeon that operated with that train of thought would you want them working on your car or operating on you we don't need to buy the latest tools we we'll use these tools from 1962 come on into the operating room so it's funny how people will do will make decisions that they think are good enough but then if somebody offered that to them as a service that they'd pay for they'd say you got to be crazy if you think I'm going to do that same person just flip it the other the other way around and what they're accepting they would not accept from anybody else I find a a hilarious hypocrisy in that hello to our friend shamim joining us from Sweden tyor contributes to Euro he says hey bros hope you're all doing great and to car right on thank you tyan or Frank wants to know what desktop would I use as a home media server I would not use a desktop as a home media server because this isn't 2002 I would use a network attached storage device from analogy qap terramaster assus store that would be my Home Server it's smaller uses less power with home serers you probably have a lot of data so having that raate array with the data consistency well it's not a backup uh it can store a lot more data and if a drive should fail you can continue you operating on the rate array with a failed drive and give you time to replace that and automatically rebuild it well the unit still functions perfectly I'll be it a bit slower um there was such a thing as media server back in the Windows XP Days A Home Server home home media server if I can get all the words right that was 20 years ago nobody I mean we've we've moved on to much more efficient things um any sort of desktop is is going to require updates a keyboard a mouse a monitor a Nas is just a little box you plug into the wall and plug internet into it and you're done like it's so much more secure smaller more economically friendly in my opinion more ecologically friendly uh and it's designed to do just that so that's what I would recommend network attached storage that was from Frank thank you for the question Frank Rob wants to know as a general rule does a faster SSD create more heat uh anything that's faster generally requires more power so if you think about it in terms of cars if you see a car that goes really really fast unless it's an electric car which also generate a lot of heat if you just talk about a gas combustion engine I think it's pretty obvious that those cars when they're pushed hard eat a lot of gas and their gas mileage goes down so when you see a high performance car our first thought a lot of time is I wonder what mileage that guy gets you know and when we see a Prius we think I wonder what mileage that guy gets in the opposite way that you think it's a big number so anytime you're adding more power you're consuming more energy whether that energy is coming from fossil fuels or electricity which often times comes from fossil fuels but regardless of the source the more power the more heat that's just overall in life I can't it's really hard for me to think of any single example of any sort of motor or engine that will not get hotter and consume more power and as a result not generate more heat that that's across the board on everything I can imagine in life yeah so again appreciate the questions keep the questions coming guys Nick Caffrey says referencing the overclocking that's happening on the boards he's got a 13700 K Intel CPU his pl1 and pl2 were both at 253 Watts he's using an ASRock z790 steel Legend if I try to set it to aircool the pl1 drops to 125 azrock minding its customers well this isn't just ASRock this is also gigabyte MSI and Theus they're all doing it it doesn't matter if it's AMD or Intel me personally uh I would adjust the pl1 and pl2 as I demonstrated in my video because at 253 so we're talking about efficiency we're talking about heat so if we want to be inefficient and we want you know an ounce more performance we're going to pay for it much much more so price to Performance ratio the price goes up and that what we're getting for our money goes down yes you're getting more performance but just a little bit at much higher cost you're also going to generate more heat which means you're going to need more aggressive cooling which is going to cost more so what I would do if I were you is I would decide the best pl1 and pl2 settings for my usage and my ER so I would you know what the Intel stock settings are because you can Google that you can usually go above that now there's a lot of people that like to write it right down the middle they'll say for the best optimal efficiency at all times you set your pl1 and pl2 to 125 it's really a personal preference but know that that control is in your hands you don't have to go with the manufacturer defaults hopefully we'll see some bios updates here that will uh put us back to defaults that'd be a nice option but in the meantime you can experiment with it you know go ahead and set your pl1 to the lowest setting and I would say you know 65 watts and then set your pl2 to as high as you can go based on the Silicon you have and the cooler you have will while still maintaining a comfortable um or acceptable Peak temperature setting and it'll be different for everybody even if you built two identical machines with all the same Parts those settings were likely end up being different because of the difference in the Silicon so I would say to you find out what settings are best for you if that's something you're into most people won't look at it to that level of granular minutia most people will just set it to you know either the defaults from Intel or if they have an air cooler set it to air cooler and unless you're having a problem with what is there that you're fixing so if you're having an issue that you're trying to resolve that would help me a lot more to help you than you telling me about all these settings you're missing with when I don't understand why you're doing it you're not really expressing there's a problem here and if there is a problem what is it I'm completely clueless as to what you're trying to achieve Bobby herd became a supporter right on thank you Bobby Abdul azim Patel is now a member for 23 months thank you so much Abdul Frank wants to know if I have sonology videos Frank I've been doing this since 2008 here on YouTube and we've probably got two dozen different videos on network attached storage over the last 15 years so I would highly recommend you use the search feature and look to our videos look up words like sonology or Nas and there's also some other much better content creators on this subject by the way folks like Nas Compares and space Rex if you want more detailed information on NAS my reviews I there's 's no point in me doing a review on a product if somebody's already done it unless I'm going to take a completely different approach to it so if you see that I'm reviewing a sonology or a qap or a terramaster NZ and somebody else is reviewing it I can almost guarantee my review is going to be totally different from everybody else's now whether or not that has value to you I don't know but I can only tell you in the way that I would tell a customer right I treat all of you the same way I treat my customers in the sense that I'm here to solve problems I'm the guy you call when things aren't working I'm going to try and get you a solution that's the fastest least resistance and cheapest without being so cheap that it creates another problem because I really want to get it done right the first time effectively putting myself out of business but that's true of anybody who does repair If the mechanic repairs your car well you shouldn't need to go back for a while in theory if the AC repair man does a good job with your AC or repair person they should be working themselves out of business there should be no more AC's to repair so you keep having to find new clients and new problems if you do a good job and you're dealing with good quality Hardware to begin with problems become rare and if you fix them right the first time and you don't overcharge your customer and you don't make them wait forever your customer will refer you to other customers and that should keep you pretty busy without the cost of advertising at least that's what I have found me let me grab another cold Gatorade but do keep your questions coming please I appreciate the questions and the interaction and uh if you're having any issues you're trying to resolve let us know what the issue is and then we can help offer a solution to you and I say we I'm talking about the whole Community here because we have a lot of very knowledgeable and helpful people here in our chat room so do pay attention there for answer to your questions that may be more accurate faster or easier or cheaper than mine and then decide for yourself which one is you know fits you best I heard that um and I didn't know this before but on occasion I've had customers who wanted to tell me what to do and I refused because they effectively wanted me to build something for them that was going to be a support Nightmare and that would reflect poorly on the quality of my work and it would also cost me a lot of money with all of the potential support calls so I'd say I'm not building you know I can't help you there and I've had customers on occasion it's not very often but they say well whatever happened to the customer is always right I'm in a business where I have to maintain a profit I'm a small business and I can't sustain a loss for very long and I'm not going to build something that could Tarn my reputation or eat up a bunch of free support time because it's just a bad configuration that should have never been put together so I politely declin but what I recently learned and I'm surprised I never heard this until recently is that the customer is always right was never the expression it was half of it there's a guy named uh Harry Selfridge and he's from I think Chicago and he went and he created this huge department store that still stands today in London they even did a television show based on it called uh Mr Selfridge with Jeremy pibon and um back in the day you know women weren't allowed to shop alone there were no women's restrooms everything was behind the counter so you had to ask for something you didn't get to try things on and experiment and touch it and U Mr suridge said we need to have let the customer touch stuff and if they want to try on 16 different pairs of gloves let them and let's let women let's make it okay for women to shop by themselves it'll be safe we'll put restrooms in for the ladies this had never been done before in uh in London at that time in the early 1900s and this was a huge place it's still is multiple floors uh if you ever walk into a department store and the first thing you see is all the makeup and perfumes he's the one who decided that back in the early 1900s let's put it there let's appeal to the ladies and when it came to Fashion customer might say I want this garment and that garment and the salesperson would be like those don't go together because this is how shopping used to be the salesman would just tell you no you you'd be a fool to put those two things together and so Mr Sage said to his employees the customer is always right in matters of taste now I don't know why we only say the first half as though customer can mandate and dictate and be belligerent and that you're supposed to obey them I don't know how that happened but this was strictly like Mr suridge saying if a customer wants to buy something that doesn't match sell it to them for crying out loud don't talk them out of it in matters of taste in matters of taste I'm like you know I wish I would have had this information 40 years ago or 30 years ago because it could have come in handy to educate the clients who use that expression to say that's not the quote Google it look it up customer is always right in matters of taste it's very important because it changes the entire meaning of the sentence and I'm fascinated that that has somehow in cultured been manipulated to truncate that early and take it out of context Bobby wants to know if I have talked to any of the motherboard manufacturers about the out of box overclock it's interesting to know what they have to say about it uh manufacturers do not speak to me nobody from Asus gigabyte ASRock or MSI has ever once spoken to me any email I've ever sent has been ignored and this is the way it's always been since I started my business 30 years ago it hasn't changed in 30 years they don't talk to me then they don't talk to me now e Chris says he enjoys the freestyle streams many different types of questions answered yeah that's what we're trying to do just mix it up a little bit I don't want to do the same thing over and over I'm sure you don't want to see the same thing over and over and today I was just in a mood to just go freestyle and we'll see what uh what progresses sometimes it gives me ideas for follow-up content to make um other times I see a trend where a lot of people are asking something of a similar nature and I think ah I should look more into this Nick caffry says the tech PowerUp website says the stock setting of pl1 and BL2 at 253 is the Intel default well you should be getting your Intel default from Intel so I would be curious if I I don't really care what some somebody random says I care when it comes from the horse's mouth as the expression goes I want to hear it directly officially from the manufacturer and if the manufacturer says that's the default then that is the default you don't know that Tech PowerUp isn't misinterpreting or typoed or made a mistake the Intel Engineers are far better educated than the people who write the Articles generally speaking and I'm not saying the people who write the Articles aren't reliable but you should definitely fact check them I would not assume One Source is correct unless that one source was the manufacturer the Creator some people will argue do you say the word gif giif as GIF or GIF well the guy who created it the picture format GF says the proper pronunciation is JF people want to argue with the Creator say no it isn't you're wrong can you imagine if anybody did that to you with your name so if uh say my name's Rob people go no no your name is robe you go no I'm pretty sure I know what my parents named me it's pronounced Rob no it isn't I mean I think that takes a lot of audacity to tell a Creator they're wrong about their own creation so when we talk about third parties of offering information how do we know the accuracy of that information what are we comparing it against so if you're saying Tech PowerUp says that's the default compared to what so if you go directly to the manufacturer and the manufacturer confirms that information now you've got something to compare it to to Define its accuracy that's all I'm saying consider your Source consider your Source consider your source and consider your source not all information is created equal Gary Tatum provides a link for specifications for Intel chips from Intel there we go that's what I'm talking about I mean a Google search would uh would easily answer that Young Frankenstein Glenn's music says Igor no it's pronounced igore it's a great example for those of us to know that reference absolutely train buff says here's a quote never trust anything you read on the internet as famously said by Abraham Lincoln all Garrett says maybe I can get uh JJ from Asus to talk about it I don't really think it's smart for me to invite a large manufacturer on my show at my expense who doesn't appreciate what I'm doing well I really like JJ I have great respect for JJ uh he has no equal in this industry in that regard he is the the Pinnacle and when it comes to not only the history of the motherboards and the chipsets and the chips and all this other stuff with regards to isus I've never met anybody in the industry just off the top of their head that can quote the things and and he does so accurately and he has for years he's very very good at what he does and I've had him on the show with the hopes that Asus would see the value in that and want to set something up with us to promote them and I would enjoy having JJ on the show to do the promotion I don't want to be the corporate spokesman JJ is that so well I can tell you I'm not getting paid by any manufacturers to be their puppet I can still interview the puppet that's not a great expression because I I really don't want to in any way imply an insult to JJ he's a very smart guy in any company whether it's Asus or MSI or azrock would be lucky to have him and he's just been with Asus for a long time obviously Asus sees the value in having him but he's there to talk about isus so when I say puppet I don't mean that in the negative way it's just that he's there to promote a specific manufacturer's product nobody else because nobody else is paying them and I don't mind interviewing somebody doing that but I don't want to become that but if the company doesn't see a value in me uh raising awareness uh bringing attention to their product and I'm not even talking about any money transferring I'm just talking about returning my emails I'm am not going to crawl on my hands and knees and beg them to come on the show um I figure what I did for them was a gesture of Goodwill and I have been ignored since so if I've scratched your back and now you're not going to scratch mine we're done you know there's nothing in that for me to continue to give Aus free marketing and exposure and then for assus to ignore me and not respond to my emails or requests so you know you give what you get I I'll work either with a manufacturer that's Cooperative or in the case of all these manufacturers not being cooperative we'll just buy whatever we want to buy and review it when and how we want to review it then we don't care we don't need to talk to them doesn't matter it takes them out of the equation since they put themselves there anyway you know it's sort of their own voluntary uh exclusion but I'm not going to convince them otherwise it's in it there's more in it for them than there is for me so if they can't be bothered I need to put my energy into other things where I'm appreciated and valued it's clearly not from any of these companies and you know what they don't have to it's not part of their job it's a choice they make and I make my choices too paella said if I sent you a gif picture of a jar of GIF what would you call it I'd call it a gif pick of a jar of GIF silly David says he's a hardware engineer for HP he enjoys the live streams keep rocking thank you David blend's music said there's an expression the early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese and that's a great one for adopting new software early yeah I it's a good expression Martin wants to know if I got his contribution oh you know what I haven't checked the phone this whole live live stream you know you guys can also email with questions as well as uh you know if you're if you're watching the stream after it airs and you miss the opportunity just reach out and an email and then we'll probably read your question aloud in another live stream and we'll let you know where you can watch the answer uh Dave stel with an Amazon gift card of $100 wow thank you so much to Dave stel and $50 from Gregory mcglinn right on thank you Gregory of course again thank you to Frankie B for his contribution and um that's all I'm seeing right now so I don't know what you sent or when you sent it Martin but so far nothing else has come through but thank you for bringing my attention to that okay I got remember to check that from time to time Johnny wants to know when is the next Windows update uh generally speaking Windows updates are provided on the second Tuesday of every month uh why do you ask is there a problem you're trying to resolve you're just curious sometimes there are outof band updates depending on the severity and significance of the update uh the big one I'm waiting for is uh 24 H2 for Windows 11 I am just looking see if I've missed any questions if I have not read your question aloud it's likely because I haven't seen it so you might need to copy and paste or retype your question again as I'm looking through the chat the chat only goes back so far and so it may not even be an option for me to go back far enough if I missed your question from earlier so feel free to repost your question again if I haven't answered it uh Joshua mentions in the Super Chat that Martin had contributed not this way but through here through the Super Chat and I'm realizing now I have not had my YouTube Studio on the contributions screen so I probably missed a lot let me go back and make sure that I'm um catching everything correctly here there might have been plenty I missed because I haven't been paying attention I see it normally in the chat but again if it Scrolls up too far I can't see it anymore but uh under viewer activity in the YouTube Studio it tells me about the membership renewals and new members and then there was a 10 euro contribution from Nick Caffrey $10 from Craig cabona one Euro from our friend Peter uh Aaron a with a $10 Super Chat Gregory Howard with a $20 Super Chat Melody lens with a $10 Australian Super Chat Peter VZ again with1 Euro Martin hog there he is with £4.99 he says I'm not late I just forgot don't trust letters they're always up to something that I'm done there he is and of course tyor with the two- yearo uh is I think that's the only one I missed so thank you for bringing that to my attention I always want to say thank you for those generous generous enough to contribute anything as most people don't contribute anything so anything is better than nothing and every bit little bit adds up and it helps and so for those of you uh willing to sacrifice a little bit your sacrifice is appreciated um and for those of you just enjoy the content that's fine that's what it's here for all right let's see so just looking to see if there's any other questions PC Computers Missouri with a $10 Super Chat contribution thank you for that as always from our friends PSC computers Missouri we've got about 20 minutes uh left of the live stream so there's any trouble you're having that you're trying to resolve with your computer or technology printers that don't print scanners that don't scan networks that don't Network we can help you stu says he's in the market for a travel router do I have any suggestions one of the videos that I have in the pipeline and I was actually considering making today but changed my mind is strictly an exclusive ly about travel routers um well I don't travel much I don't even like to go outside that much it's too peoply but these travel routers I found quite handy just having here in the studio and a company there's a few companies out there that make them um one is called ginet and the other's called cie cudy and they're almost interchangeable in design and price and specifications everything and they're relatively inexpensive it kind of depends what you're trying to achieve with it so you know people that live in a a small apartment or a smaller house may not need a big traditional router a travel router may be all you need is your permanent router or people who travel and you want to provide your own internet access or you want to be able to pay for one computer's internet access on the hotel that you're staying staying at but then share it with all your other Wi-Fi devices for others you're traveling with a travel router is a solution for that or to you know again bring your own network so that you're always secured if you're doing stuff Financial related or I mean for me the solution is just log in remotely to my computer at home and then do all my financial and private stuff on the computer at home remotely regardless if it's an open public Wi-Fi that connection is entirely encrypted without the need for a VPN it's all happening with you know instant house call or log me in pretty much any of the remote software out there maybe not remote desktop from Windows but I'm saying any thirdparty remote desktop application that's any good uh is going to encrypt that I don't use a VPN because of that if I'm using if I'm in a department store if I'm in Target or at the grocery store I'm at Safeway my phone will say you know Safeway has free wi-fi you can log into it I don't normally because I know that when I log into it everything I'm doing is tracked by Safeway there's a reason why they're offering the free Wi-Fi and they're not doing it to spy on me because they want to see what I'm up to they want to see what they could sell me that's all but I wouldn't trust that connection and the same goes with apps you know they want you to download the app for their loyalty program everybody wants you to download an app and when you download the app it could be taking personal information GPS information when you're using Google they're recording everywhere you're going your ISP that provides your internet connection is recording everywhere you're going your browser is recording everywhere you're going everybody is re in any event you know your car could potentially be recording everywhere you're going if you have something like OnStar for example it knows where you are and this could save your life one day by the way but never mind there's a Down side concerning privacy so a lot of people will use a VPN to secure a public or in internet connection that they don't own something they're renting something that belongs to a friend so that they can safely achieve this the idea that they're being secure when they're logging into their bank or credit card or email I would suggest just stay on your cellular network and use your cellular data me personally if that's all you want to do that's secured you don't have to worry about it so if you're if you're on the hotel Wi-Fi and you want to use that to stream Netflix or Hulu or Amazon Prime videos or listen to Spotify and you don't want to use your bandwidth of your cell data rate certainly don't need a VPN for that but these travel routers do have the ability to configure VPN it's something they greatly and widely promote it does come at a deficit to the performance of the internet connection it will slow things down however because it's happening at the router on the Travel router you don't need to configure VPN on the PCS basically the router and any connect computer connected to it will have the data encrypted going out and coming in now again we're still dealing with a little bit of security theater here if you're doing something that you're worried about people spying on you pay attention to where you are when you're doing it this is where people just get stupid like they're not thinking I have seen people doing things on their computer simply gu glancing over and looking there are security cameras in a public place that are they can zoom in and see your phone if I'm walking around the grocery store with my phone open the security cameras if they want to could zoom in and see what I'm looking at you're being watched so no matter if the device you're using is tracking you or the browser you're using is tracking you or your ISP is tracking you or your cell phone brigher is track tracking you or your your uh car maybe tracking you you're being tracked the minute you step out the door in most public places there's cameras everywhere they can see where you are and this is a good thing in the sense that people that commit crimes are caught on cameras they didn't know were there in those cases that's how they're able to look locate them we know what car they were driving we know which direction they went we know which intersection they crossed we know the next intersection they crossed there's cameras across all the traffic lights and while people are concerned about their safety uh their privacy there's also a safety thing that's increased as a result of that as well so there's a good and a bad so for me if I took a travel router with me the reason I would take it me personally is not for the VPN I'm not interested in that it would be so I can pay for one internet connection from the hotel sometimes you got to pay for every one especially like in Vegas and it's expensive and I can share that with my laptop and my phone and if I'm traveling with people their laptops or phones anything they need to connect with that one internet connection I'm paying for I can share it the other reason I might use it is to boost the Wi-Fi signal a bit so even though the router's connection is only going to be as good as the Wi-Fi signal going to it my computer's connection to the Wi-Fi uh will be much stronger and this is particularly appealing if I'm setting up a little office in a hotel room and I want to transfer a file from this computer to that computer but I don't want other people in the hotel to see it and I don't want that transfer to take forever so I can do it locally on a Wi-Fi network and move big files much quicker it's a pretty unique uh very specific use case scenario how would you use a travel router if you had one that would be my question how would you use it what what do you think it will do for you or what do you know it will do for you stu Lao with a $4 Super Chat thank you stu Patrick Manny says does anyone notice the new weather and info displays on the lock screen in Windows 11 I've never seen it but then I usually uninstall the weather um the weather app in control panel under apps settings and apps there's a thing there called weather you got install it probably solves that problem for you if it's a problem I don't know maybe you like it with days apart oay Peterson says I see my PC get black screens and it reboots after a few seconds and during your live show the other day I ran HW info it never got over 70 degrees Celsius it's either my Ram either Ram nor CPU maybe my GPU is getting hot well in most cases you can diagnose most computer problems in under 8 minutes cuz you only really have five components to deal with your power supply your motherboard your RAM your CPU and your storage it's pretty much it so the first question we normally ask people or in your case you also have a graphics card so that adds a six thing anything that's plugged into the back of the computer any USB flash drives external hard drives all that should be unplugged anything that's not absolutely necessary and then we asked the customer when did this problem start how old is this computer how long has it been running fine or has it ever run fine when did it start crashing and what we try to establish is whether or not you have a software problem meaning there's something wrong with your Windows installation or drivers or or it could be registry software related or you have a hardware problem meaning maybe your CPU is failing overheating your GPU is overheating the motherboard is failing your vrms are failing your power Supply is failing any of that's possible so how do we know first of all very quickly is it Hardware or software that's the first thing because it's an intermittent problem that you can't make happen these are difficult problems to solve in health in mechanics with your car sometimes The Brak squeak the mechanic probably can't fix that you go to the doctor you say sometimes it hurts sometimes it doesn't if it's not hurting when you're there there's nothing for them to fix no symptoms no Solutions so we need to determine quickly as a technician if you were to call me out and say I need you to fix this first thing I would do is take a spare hard drive a spare solid state drive I usually have drives from old machines just laying around they don't have to be fast or capacious they don't have to be big and you know it doesn't matter if it's envyme or satad drive heck even an old mechanical Drive is fine and the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to disconnect all of your drives if you have more than one if they're NVM I'm going to take them out I'm going to put my drive one drive whatever it is in there and I'm going to do a fresh clean install of whatever your operating system is and I'm going to ask you to use that and make it blue uh fail make it crash and if you say well I can't make it crash I have to wait I won't know and I'll say well how long will it have to run without crashing before you'll be convinced it fixed and only you can answer that it happens once a day it happens once a week it happens once a month well that's how long we'll wait and if we can exceed that period of time we know you need to reinstall your operating system or at the very least that you have a software related problem and get your mind out of the whole motherboard CPU RAM storage power supply just forget all that forget the video card forget all that on the other hand if we we do this and the the other it makes no difference your computer then goes to a black screen and restarts then we know there's nothing wrong with your software so we can then come back and put it back the way it was and focus strictly on the hardware and then one by one we eliminate each piece of Hardware we change it now we already know we've already changed the storage in this test so we know we don't have to deal with your storage device that seems highly unlikely so then we can focus on what are the most likely culprits in this scenario and I would say uh depending on the age of the power supply that may be a first place even if your RAM says it's good it may not be so I would still remove a ram module see if the problem happens again with only one ram module in if you have four take out three if you have two take out one just leave yourself with one if the problem reoccurs pop that one out obviously with the system off you don't work on a computer with uh with even the power cable plugged in disconnect the power cable if it fails take that one ram module out that you left literally put any other Ram module in there see if it fails again it's unlikely both Ram modules will be bad and cause the same problem so it's probably not the ram but don't trust the results of a test you have to actually run this yourself and save to be certain and then of course try a different video card or if you have a processor with integration at Graphics temporarily remove the graphics card that's discreet the individual one and use the integrated graphics card just for testing to see if it crashes and you will through a process of elimination find the culprit but the very beginning of this is is it software or Hardware once we have that first answer then we can choose we we we're getting to a fork in a road and it says do you want to go left or you want to go right software Hardware which one do we choose well here's how we choose based on the results of that test we know to either go left from this point forward or to go right from this point forward that'll take us to another fork in the roof eventually we'll get to the destination that we're looking for pretty simple process of elimination now if you can make a problem occur every time I click here it does that those problems are super easy to solve it's when they're intermittent and you have to wait those can be challenging e Paul Alis says if only the numerous troubleshooters in Windows could actually diagnose a problem correctly for once well the problem is if it could diagnose the problem correctly then why would there be a problem wouldn't it if here's the logic that people don't really think through if Windows was able to precisely tell you what's wrong then wouldn't Windows be precisely able to fix it without involving you that's the part I don't get like if my belly was always full I wouldn't have to eat I mean okay um that's true but is that a reasonable thing to think of what's your mouth for anyway um be careful what you wish for this version of wind Windows Windows 10 and windows 11 are far more reliable than any version of Windows in the history of operating systems and particularly windows I have never seen a version of Windows more stable and less trouble prone than Windows 10 and windows 11 which are basically the same operating system the amount of calls I used to get for Windows 95 98 Windows Millennium Windows XP things started to move in a positive direction with Windows 7 then the calls started coming again on Windows 8 and then once Windows 10 hit the calls are rather infrequent uh the drivers have gotten better the qualification of the drivers the requirements that Microsoft has by restricting what they're allowing to meet certain minimum requirements has resulted in a far more stable operating system this was a big big issue in Windows Millennium where Microsoft was getting the brunt of the blame when the reality was the the issues that most people had with Windows Millennium as a technician in the industry for that period of time you know I was dealing with this were mostly driver related problems causing blue screens and crashes and it was because Microsoft wasn't putting down enough restriction and enforcing it and then people would say that Windows Millennium is a piece of crap when in fact it was their printer driver their video driver their sound driver that they had that was just poorly written by the manufacturer trying to write it as cheaply as they can and find loopholes and skirt through the requirements that Microsoft recommends rather than enforces and then you the customer are completely swindled by that manufacturer and then told to blame Microsoft for that was a massive Injustice because Windows Millennium when it was installed correctly with proper drivers was just as reliable as 98 98 second edition it was just built on that anyway so it wasn't like it was massively different although they did introduce system restore which was good and a 30-second booton so all that negativity that comes from Windows Millennium is misdirected in my opinion and in my experience to Microsoft rather than the manufactures Microsoft could have prevented it and have since done so by no longer offering recommendations and instead making them requirements and saying if you don't meet these requirements you ain't getting on the system and then Advanced users can work around that if they want to but you get many warnings so you sure you want to do this it's sort of like installing apps on your phone or uh you know that are that are coming from outside of the app stores that say look you're you're on your own if you download this app we've not checked it so you know you got to go through a number of barriers that you you're not going to accidentally go through it you're going to knowingly disobey the requirements with the idea that you know better than they do maybe you do probably you don't but it's yours to do with if you want to do that knock yourself out I couldn't risk my business on that on that kind of behavior I I could be held accountable and liable for the financial losses and troubles so not a toy for me to play with my business isn't something I want to gamble with I want to rest assur that I'll have a business tomorrow Dave wants to know if Ram goes bad is it usually the channel or the slot uh I don't know what you mean by the channel in most cases the ram itself the physical RAM um is faulty and needs to be replaced it cannot be repaired with regards to the socket there's possible socket damage but in my line of work I don't I don't ever see that customers aren't generally getting in there and ham fisting um installing Hardware causing damage to the board that's something pretty much only a home user would do and even then most home users are intimidated by the inside of a computer so they don't get dusted they don't get cleaned they just kind of sit and then when I get the call maybe because all that dust and buildup created insulation that causing the machine to overheat or be suffocated sometimes it can cause premature failure of like a power supply that needs that air flow uh other times it's just really disgusting and the system is just lacking regular maintenance but any sort of ham fisting involving users who don't have a clue of what they're doing that shouldn't have been in there to begin with that's generally The Way Slots get broken and so they don't usually call for help these are the diyes that will damage something generally think it's the fault of the product and not their own fault try and warranty it maybe their warranty is honored maybe it isn't but I they don't call me like I don't I don't get calls from people like that so when I see Ram problems almost nearly 100% of the time it's a bad Ram module but that's my line of work right so my line of work is going to dictate the kind of problems I see that doesn't mean that that's Universal across the board that's just what I see in my line of anecdotal Paul mentions sometimes simply cleaning the contacts on the ram by res removing and receding it will fix the issue it's pretty unusual I'd say one out of about 300 systems that'll do the trick just picking a number that's very very minute I don't know exactly what it is but in most cases you're wasting your time with that but if you got nothing to lose I mean doesn't hurt anything to try it uh um WD40 makes contact cleaner this is uh this is what that is and I wish you could feel this can because it feels like a brand new can I think I've used this once or twice it's never made any difference sure the contacts are cleaner but they were never so dirty as to prevent contact so you use it as like a just to be sure but it's one of those things like uh in all likelihood it's really just there to make you feel good it's not really going to benefit most people in my experience this has never saved me from anything it just made me feel better I've sprayed it and now it's clean so for the hum the human emotional feel-good response you should buy a can of this for you but for actual ual fixing things this doesn't really at least in my experience this has never fixed a problem for me ever um I'm not saying it won't fix a problem and this wasn't necessarily designed for motherboards but it is contact cleaner so any any electrical contacts could be a switch in the wall something in the car a wiring harness um this is what that's built for it's not specific to this and again with the advancement of the technology the likelihood of needing this with newer technology is reduced because the newer technology seats better and because it's newer it's less likely to have any corrosion I also live in a desert if I live somewhere humid where there were large temperature fluctuations and um you know the uh uh the option for uh humidity built condensation rust that would be a different scenario but here in the desert it's very dry and um the idea of any corrosion happening highly unlikely there is such a thing as chip crawl where over time a chip can kind of come out of the socket that's more likely to occur on a portable machine but more and more portable machines are having Rams soldered down a lot of people frown on that because you can't upgrade it but your high-end laptops from like Dell XPS to Galaxy books to um you know even other big brand names are now soldering the ram down to the board this results in much faster ram ram that is far more reliable also Ram you can't upgrade so if you're going to buy a laptop especially a high-end laptop you should probably expect that Ram's going to be soldered down and if so in my opinion get the most Ram you can afford because you'll need it in the future you can't upgrade it and these are high-end machines I'm talking about and that is the way of the future in fact Rumor Has It Intel is going to be putting Ram directly on the CPU die it that is going to be beneficial for data transfer speed so Apple's already done that I think on their M1 chip M2 the M series chips I believe have Ram right on the CPU it appears as the rumor has it that Intel is doing this on the next gen CPUs and that's going to be part of your CPU now will you be able to add to that with external RAM I mean I would assume so but the reason they do that is for performance and reliability the closer you can get that Ram to the CPU the faster it is and if you can eliminate the cost of the socket you can also speed up that uh data transfer and if you can put it right on the CPU die I mean you're you're you're right there in bed with it so it's going to run much much faster it's not all bad some people they hear soldered on and they immediately go negative but it's so Superior in reliability performance um I have a $3,000 galaxy book 3 from Samsung and its Ram is soldered down and the most Ram that they offered was 32 gigs if I would have got if 64 was offered I would have put 64 in it but it's absolutely one of the fastest laptops in fact one of the fastest computers I've ever used in my life and I'm sure partly due to the fact that Ram is soldered down so you know at three grand it's not cheap but it's a rocket ship and it's rock solid I don't think it's ever crashed on me not once I better knock on wood now that I've said it out loud all right we're just past 3 o' here so I think this is going to wrap it up I'll look for any um final questions here Chris Johnson said thanks I enjoyed the show I enjoy your company thanks for your freestyle discussion today thank you to my chat friends hope to see you on Monday or sooner if Carrie does a weekend show that's always possible I do have a lot of work to catch up on Chris wants to know if I've done anymore with the arcade boards I haven't had any time unfortunately I'd love to make a video of me just playing some of those games all right guys I think that'll wrap it up I think I've answered your I hope I've answered all your questions and if you're watching the video after it airs live feel free to leave your question in the comments or the email out to us directly the email address is in the about section of pretty much every YouTube channel and that's how you can reach each individual Creator rch wants to know what PC build video of yours would you recommend for a starter to use as a guide I think that um more or less PC building has remained the same since I started this so if you watch an older video from 2012 or 2013 that we did do some close-ups and edits that made it a lot clearer however if you want a literal step by step I haven't done anything that detailed in more recent builds over the years because the little connectors go on the same the USB connectors go on the same where they're located on each board varies a bit um the case Styles vary a bit and limitations therein and thereof based on the case and the motherboard design mostly are the same as they've been for the last 15 years so it's really up to you to decide if you want all that little detail or if you'd rather watch a more current video with more current Parts since the parts will look more identical to what you have but regardless of how they look they more less install the same whether it's a third generation Intel chip or an original core2 duo in this line of family of processors all the way to the 14th gen they're all basically the same so ddr4 and ddr5 essentially look the same to the naked eye they install the same they cost different and they perform different so I'd say just look through the videos and there's a lot of build videos I've done over the years and find the one that appeals to you most just kind of skip through them and see which one looks good to you one of my most popular builds is the Cosmos 2 that's quite old and it's got several million views you might just base it on popularity and see what's most popular in my library at the end of the day you know find one that works for you there's plenty to pick from and enjoy your build for sure all right I think that'll wrap it up for me thank you to Mara as always for her help with uh uh the administration of this YouTube channel is a lot of work and she's really stepping it up to help remove that burden from me so I can focus on the actual content content thank you to our friends at aonis for that discount they're offering all of you that 30% off all throughout 2024 Robo form 30% off for all new customers just use the link in the the um notes below the video you don't need to use a coupon code for robo form and our friends at VIP cdk deals with the discounted Windows 10 Windows 11 home and pro and Microsoft Office product keys that are 90% less than retail price it's the same product key so why would you spend 90% more everything's guaranteed everything is guaranteed to work you have a 30-day warranty on pretty much everything it's no different with the software and Robo form and acronis they have trials where you can download the software fully functioning no credit card required and determine if you like it or not if you don't like it don't use it so I just I'm trying to offer you guys a discount on the tools I use and believe me when I bought my tools I paid full price and I was happy to do it because even at full price I think they're a bargain if you haven't made a backup I feel bad for you I hope that you make a backup for no other reason than just because not because you're doing an update or not because you're expecting an something to happen because of something else it's just the fact that any part can fail at any time for any reason and without your without a warning whether it's a virus an accidental deletion a part failure a fire a theft a flood I can't continue to go on with all the different reasons people lose their stuff just that they weren't prepared for it so just because you're about to embark on a change on your computer and you go oh before I make this change I should up uh do a backup no you should do your backup because if your machine stops working right now what are you going to do what's your plan if all of a sudden your screen goes black and the system won't start anymore for no apparent reason do you have a contingency in place or does it not matter to you CU don't tell me it matters to you but you can't be bothered to back it up because you weren't expecting it everybody who's ever lost data have that one thing in common none of them saw it coming so the idea that you're updating a driver or you're installing a new piece of software you're doing a Windows update you think oh I better I better back up my computer before I do this that's the wrong mindset the only reason you should be backing up your computer is your last backup happened so long ago you would be upset if you had to restore from it and missed everything you've changed since then so that's the question you should be asking yourself since my last backup if I had to restore from that right now how much would I lose based on how much I've done to my computer or the files I've created or added since that last backup based on that answer is whether or not you should be backing up that's it it's really simple it's your a loss nobody cares more about your data than you do so if you don't care to back it up nobody else cares if you back it up and if you're devastated because of the loss nobody else is it's just you so you do what's right for you but I wouldn't wait for a specific excuse like people typically do hey I'm not getting insurance on my car because I just drive it around town but when I take that long road trip I'll get it that's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard in my life so I hope for your own sake that if your date is important to you you back it up on a regular basis for no reason other than it's time all right guys uh thank you to Mark gains oh Mark uh just contributed five pounds and wants me to check my email so let's do that right quick and then we'll wrap it up for today's show yeah I might be I might be back on the weekend I have to uh I'm not sure yet everything's kind of up in the air and um Mark sends a $505 Amazon gift card and uh in the prior show Mark sent like a $100 Amazon gift card so thank you again Mark for your continued support and your generosity I appreciate you very much and all of you all of my friends in blue folks in white I hope you continue to come back continue to show support and kindness we'd love to turn you blue and for the members all those folks with the gold bad is we always do a live membersonly video every Monday at 1:00 Pacific time it's a much smaller turnout it's not so chaotic I get to see more of the chat and each individual gets more attention from me because it's a smaller group and you're supporting the channel so those videos we make for members only they're only members only and that's $9.99 a month YouTube's taking 30% of that but just this video here these boards are $600 a piece when you consider the CPU the ram the storage and the board um just to make this one video I had five Boards out here because there's a fifth one that's $3,000 and I don't need any of these boards these weren't done for any customers this was done strictly to make this content which I could not have done without your support so again I can't thank you enough for it and I hope that the community appreciates your sacrifices as well because I feel like nobody's done this content they some people have talked about it but no one's demonstrated it and some people have demonstrated it with a specific board but not compared it to the other boards so there's a big difference between them and if you missed last Friday's video about this strongly suggest you watch it if you have a current generation for previous generation Intel chip I've already talked about this previously with AMD when I reviewed the 8000 series if you missed that go back and watch my review on the AMD 8000 series you won't catch me using an AMD 8000 series ever never going to use one if it starts with the number eight and it's from AMD it's a waste of money in my opinion so if you want the details on why go back and watch that video that'll wrap it up for me for today and Peter just contributed one Euro in the Super Chat thank you to everybody who's contributed in Super Chat and thanks to all of you for hanging out we will see you very very soon and until next time bye for now [Music]
