[Music] welcome to the kennedy report i'm kennedy hall liberalism is a sin we're going to talk about that that's actually name of a famous book by felix sarda it's an older book sort of from the pre-vatican two days it's still true it cites tons of papal documents in the history of the church it's gone out of fashion of course because liberalism is sort of the new gospel of our day in a lot of ways but we're going to talk about that in a book written by leon christiani this is a totally unrelated book but it's called evidence of satan in the modern world this was published by tan we read of a series of possessions of children that took place in france in a place called ilford these stories are remarkable and they include a host of crazy events children spinning like tops on their beds and basically all the stuff that you would see in those sort of exorcist horror movies but it was real father dennis fahey who is a champion of true christian social doctrine he tells us uh that from the transcripts of these exorcisms because they were writing down what these demons were saying to the children and one of the demons actually said long live liberty equality and fraternity that is a favor that is the favorable time for us so these are among the expressions uttered by the demons through these possessed children so i recommend you go and check out this book called evidence of satan in the modern world because it's a good book and also the work of father dennis fahey so liberalism the devil's a fan that should tell us something before i continue please like this channel subscribe to this or like this video sorry subscribe to this channel visit fatima.org for all we'll be having going on our recent appeals and what we're doing to help you grow in your faith and also please consider a donation so we can keep this good content coming so we're going to talk about the areas of liberalism and these are rampant in our modern world it really is a foundation of all of our errors communism evolutionism socialism all the isms except for catholicism they're linked to liberalism so what is this great error well there's a quote from the famous french he was i guess a philosopher political philosopher named shal moha and he said liberty true liberty is not at the beginning but at the end it is not at the root but in the flowers of the fruits that's what he has to say about it so in the so-called western world which is really former christendom virtually all of us have been influenced by a set of ideas called liberalism and these things have basically usurped christ's place in our society now this erosion did not take place overnight but it's been going on for a number of centuries to be honest we could probably go back to the garden of eden to find the roots of this but this error is luciferian in nature and it's called liberalism if we wish to fully understand the rightful place of christ the king we have to spend some time peeling back the layers of liberalism to see past the falsities that are so commonplace in our political landscape perhaps we can analogously think of a society that has christ the king as being truly healthy so before we pursue this state of health which we must pursue as catholics we should look at the illness that we have in our society and try to properly diagnosis and that illness is liberalism so what is liberalism well all of us who have grown up in a seemingly pluralistic tolerant democratic society we have this idea of being liberal as we'll call it as being sort of left-wing so we'll put ourselves as conservatives and we'll say well conservatism is good if we're socially conservative with catholic values pro-life etc and liberalism is leftism and that's bad now there is some truth this idea that liberalism is a sort of left-wing political philosophy because yes the leftists tend to take the inherent ideas the seeds of ideas of liberalism and they do go to their sort of absurd logical conclusion which manifests itself in things like pro-choice and so forth but we mustn't deceive ourselves that believing the so-called conservative alternative is actually better than liberalism it's not what we know as conservatism nowadays is just liberalism in fact it's classic liberalism but it's ironic isn't it that all of our classically liberal societies like basically the west after the revolution in france um america with the american revolution canada and our dominion these are all so-called sort of classical liberal societies well look what's happened to those places they're all completely dominated by left-wing values at this point so liberalism really just leads to leftism and conservatism is an outgrowth of liberalism as we'll talk about our modern states exist in a totally liberal framework meaning that we are fashioned after those principles now the catholic encyclopedia about liberalism states the most fundamental principle of liberalism asserts an absolute and unrestrained freedom of thought freedom of religion freedom of conscience freedom of creed freedom of speech freedom of press freedom of politics in a later episode of this series we're going to talk about liberalism we're actually going to show that freedom of speech is actually evil and is not a christian principle as much as we like to rally around that as conservatives so these characteristics that i just mentioned they go straight to the heart of liberalism it's the unadulterated freedom to think believe say express act do whatever you want it believes that a man should be distinct from any organization or coercion that requires him to do something or think something that he has not thought of himself now before i continue there is a partial truth to this in our society where we're basically told how to think by propaganda and so forth this idea of having true liberalism is appealing i mean if your society is telling you that you know the mark of a good company is if you have a diversity quota or something like that and you're thinking no i should probably just have a good bottom line in my company well fair enough you're saying it's not right for the government to tell me how to think it is true in a sense in our governments our fallen governments our satanically inspired governments yes a government that has separated itself from jesus christ should not tell you how to think because it can't think clearly that's true but it's an error if we follow through all the way basically liberalism exalts the absolute autonomy of the individual person as the highest good and has as having an inalienable right to do whatever he wants of course liberalism tends to espouse and espouse uh sorry espouse such notions such as the dignity of the human person and other similar niceties but these definitions change according to the culture i mean the dignity of the human person in a christian perspective is a very distinct thing you know the right to life you know the right to practice your christian faith the way that you should but that didn't give a human person to somebody who is left-wing pro-choice well to them abortion is part of dignity so these principles that are part of liberalism they don't fit liberal ideas are constantly espoused by both the right and the left in our current political landscape atheistic leftists yammer on about the freedom to choose abortion as some sort of liberal freedom as if there was an actual choice you could have and at the same time the religious right appeals to the same sense of freedom in order to justify the opposite of that so if they're using the same principles clearly they're not christian in nature and they can be used for whatever you want of course the right-wing political so-called conservative movement it is definitely much more friendly to biblical values it is much more friendly to the catholic faith and therefore we have sort of allies in that but we can't anchor that as the anchor of our mind because it will ultimately fail us so do not confuse as well the right-wing movements as true catholic social doctrine that is against liberalism often you'll see with conservatives they'll appeal for example to constitutional documents fine these constitutional documents are better than crazy leftism but they're these documents they bang the drum of liberty and if you look into the founders of america if you look into the founders of canada many of them were freemasons most of them were agnostic or deist uh and they were liberals so sure they tolerated a certain christian moral principle because that made the society function with moral people but they were not allies of the church and in fact there's even evidence that especially in american founding there was a distinct animus of the catholic church and we have to remember in canada canada was founded by freemasons and anglicans i mean you don't get more intolerant historically of the catholic church than the followers of king henry viii and freemasons so while it is admirable that various conservative advocates will fight for the unborn and they're more friendly to the christian atmosphere we have to remember that ultimately conservatism is liberalism it's not a solution now what you see in these liberal states as well is we see what we've seen with the last few elections liberals swing to the left conservatives swing to the right there's a constant pendulum swinging this alone should show us that the foundations the social fabric of a so-called liberal republic it's nothing more than just a set of beliefs that reflect the ideas of the people so-called but really the ruling elite if the elites tolerate christ in the public square the society might be kind of christian if the elites don't tolerate christ in the public square it's not all the while you can use liberal values freedom of religion means bring jesus into the public square freedom of religion means don't bring your religion near me so it's freedom from religion so what is true freedom well ultimately there is no true freedom apart from god and thus there is no liberty in anything other than christ christ says the truth self sells set you free scripturally speaking we can understand this our word says i our lord says i am the way the truth and the life emphasis on truth there so we don't have truth we don't have freedom and he also says if you continue in my word you shall be my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free note how christ clearly states that freedom and truth necessarily go together this is why there can be no truth in classical liberalism because there's many lies in it the important point is this important point is ignored and even denied by liberalism even if you go back again if you go back to these classical liberals that founded canada and america they might have personally adhered to some sort of christian-ish belief but if you put them put their feet to the fire and say should your society be catholic should your society be christian they would say no because it's the right for a man to choose what he believes is right that can't be so based upon our catechism we understand freedom as the power to choose what is truly good that is true freedom every time we actually choose the good we are exercising our freedom and we increase our ability to accomplish greater goods thus making our freedom more and more stronger yet every time we do not choose the good we choose evil instead we act against our freedom and we constrict ourselves from doing good in the future it's pretty simple error has no rights if we choose even though we have freedom to choose so we choose bad things we actually have less freedom because we're enslaving ourselves to sin the only freedom found is through god and we need to go back all the way to the beginning what is satan's cry well satan's cry is non-servion i will not serve that's liberalism i will only serve myself i will not serve god in that case or the greater good in a sort of general political case so a philosophy that exalts the human conscience and a man's sensibilities to the highest level of authority this is foolish everybody becomes their own pope everybody becomes their own theologian everybody becomes their own king everybody becomes their own president well we can see how much of a disc i mean if you've been through an election in north america which probably everybody watching this has been and every other country for that matter you're going through a social revolution every four years it's exhausting i mean you're going through an apple apocalyptic situation every four years where you don't know if your country is going to be the same the next day these are all liberal democracies these are all liberal republics say what you will and criticize things that should be criticized about societies of the past but you know a king or an emperor 500 600 700 years ago he couldn't do what an entire army what a liberal president or prime minister can do with the swipe of a pen or a phone call think about that for a second we can find no liberty in error and we can find no liberty in civilizations that reject christ the king pope leo the 13th was a staunch fighter of liberalism and he actually has a wonderful quote here that i'll quote he says many there are who follow in the footsteps of lucifer and adopt as their own his rebellious cry i will not serve on serbian and consequently substitute for true liberty what is sheer and most foolish license such for instance are the men belonging to that widely spread and powerful organization who usurping the name of liberty style themselves liberals pope leo the 13th is not a fan of liberalism and he's speaking here about the freemasons who exalt this cry that we heard at the beginning of this episode freedom of quality and liberty fraternity etc so what are the roots of liberalism we're going to touch on these just a little bit and we'll continue about the actual history of it in our next episode but basically in truth as i said we could probably go back to the garden of eden for a search because again we go back to this idea that i will not serve god i will serve myself that's being liberal you're your own boss however for our purposes we're going to look back to basically the renaissance and protestantism archbishop lefebvre he points to this time period as a time when the scourge of lutheranism the error of luther these emerge but these are also part and parcel with the errors of naturalism and rationalism which we'll end up going through this attack on the catholic social order was nothing less than a militaristic barrage of liberal ideas fueled by a visceral hatred of christ and christ the king especially so let's just look quickly here at the renaissance and naturalism well everyone has heard of the renaissance and i would imagine that most perceive it as an elegant time in human history wrought with playfulness and art and colorful artistic dispositions and expressions and now in truth many may disagree a little bit on um the various advances that sprang forth from this period because there is it is a little bit debatable okay um but this is a time this is the case for any time of artistic or you know technological advancement but this was a movement to recapture what was good in the works of the ancient pagan intellectuals and artists who had come before which we have precedent for in the church try to think of what saint thomas aquinas would have been with no aristotle who was a pagan philosopher that was sort of a renaissance of aristotelian philosophy try to think of what dante would have been like without virgil which was a sort of renaissance of that that author himself however it takes a prayerful and steadfast steadfast catholic mind to appreciate what is truly good in a pagan piece of art or philosophy otherwise we run the risk of falling to these errors in our human mind and this is what i think we see following the renaissance so michelangelo for example he brought the artistic rendering of the human body to a level unmatched in the realm of sculpture or art beforehand nevertheless this expertise did not come without a cost christian europe always had an ordered affection of natural things but the influence of classical literature and philosophy provided a more sensual vocabulary to discuss such things a chaste mind can go to somewhere like the sistine chapel for example a chaste mind can go there and can see these new depictions in the same way that an innocent child looks at the human body but an unchaste mind might have problems with that so you couple this with the fact that we're going to move into protestantism here in a sec protestantism stripped basically half of europe of sanctifying grace you see if we're frequently attending the sacraments if we're frequently going to holy communion going to confession then we maintain that state of innocence so we can do things like michelangelo and these great renaissance thinkers but if we strip ourselves of these things then all of a sudden we sort of use that fallen side of our mind and you can see how the problems might arise now also protestantism and the renaissance brought with it this sort of inherent rationalism and this is the error that truth is ultimately understood by unique human persons unbeholden to any authority that may otherwise say something differently this is the arch heresy of martin luther and the logical it's the logical consequence of rationalism but in the biblical sciences the idea was basically i am martin luther i read the bible i can decide from the bible what i want because i'm basically my own magisterial authority when you actually think about that that's a very liberal principle you know it's hey you know holy father pope you know bishop whoever those are good ideas but i read this differently and for me i need to be free so i can interpret the bible my own self you see how that brings the advent of liberalism through christian thinking in the world in the human sciences rationalism gives way to the absurdities on display in the realm of natural and psychological sciences and in the divine sciences theology etc rationalism gives way to indifference and spiritual confusion the re-emergence of the natural philosophies of the pagan societies coupled with the advent of rationalistic thought along with protestant reformation this provided dismantling of the theology of sanctifying grace protestants still held most of them for a time to the necessity of christ for salvation as as much of an error might have been in their thinking of that but the various reformers greatly muddled the truth and understanding of human nature in essence luther turned commandments into ideals unreachable by men and calvin accepted the total depravity of human nature so virtue in this case could only be cultivated through the strength of the will and was now seen as a sign of blessing or predestination and that's when you look at the protestant philosophies there is no real there can't be an understanding of the true catholic understanding of grace perfecting nature it's just we're fallen i think luther even used the analogy of the human person who was baptized being like a pile of dung covered in white snow i actually think that's one of his things that he said he said a lot of crazy things so this idea that you could actually perfect society through virtue it wasn't really possible it was just sort of i'm saved i've accepted jesus christ and then calvin took that even further and he basically said well if there are good people that's because they've been specially elected by god so you see there's no real room to grow there in virtue combine that with the advent of naturalism rationalism and protestantism this was a potent combination suited for the impending liberal spirit that would infect the world the enlightenment or time that we should probably call the darkening because it did nothing to enlighten the mind it did the opposite so in our next episode we're actually going to go through how these errors came to wreak havoc on the natural order because that's very important as it will affect how we see science and politics and all those things that we're going through today so if you've liked this video i hope you have please like and subscribe to this channel go to fatima.org to see all the great things we
