and we're live at 7 11. ooh see 7-eleven how clever this thing's fancy look at that flip it over fancy tool look at that look at that that's even an allen that's even a safety or a torx it's even a safety torx it's fairly awesome uh tonight we're talking about the video that i just now loaded was able to get the finally get the um man what a nightmare i had getting all of the adobe photoshop and all that stuff i found out i can't use my laptop anymore it's a windows 7 now they won't now they won't allow windows 7 use i got to have windows 10 i got a good new laptop load a new operating system you know it's just all fun and games but i was able to get that finally get the the thumbnail loaded up for the small block chevy version i have a small black forward or that video is already loaded i just don't have a thumbnail for it so i should finish that and then we're going to follow that up with the other ones but the small block chevy one was cool because we ran a 305 and a 350 and a 383 you guys probably haven't seen it yet even though you're the live crew the two live crew um so you guys might be doing dual screens if anybody's able to do that and watch that while we're talking you guys can watch that video and see what's going on because normally we're here we're normally here on a lot longer than the 10 or 15 minutes it takes to watch that video so you can multitask and then let me know what you think you could actually do live commenting while you're watching that the other thing that i was thinking about doing um and maybe i can do that for the guys that are here all the time on the live feed and that's that i can um let you guys watch the video obviously before it's released live so we can do that oh so they adobe did stop the people from using antiquated versions and mine my laptop is very antiquated i i know when i was using my laptop when i was there doing the filming for engine masters um the the girl who is their um producer was there and i brought my laptop in because we were opening it up to do the live feed when we were talking about the piston flip thing with um freiberger and dolcich and laptop she said wow where where did you find that so she was laptop shaming me just right out there right out there in the open and everything uh it was quite awesome she said how old is that thing i said well you have to carbon date it so so she got a good laugh out of that so it was awesome but yeah it came over on the mayflower and stuff it was it's fairly old but it is a it's an og like tough book although not the serious tough book the semi tough book um and eric over west tech got hooked me up with a deal on it that was a refurbished one from the they're from military or a law enforcement or something and then somebody buys them and refurbishes them then and then so i've been using it for quite a while and it's been working fairly well but um and i wanted windows 7 on i didn't want windows 10. i probably could have chosen that and now looking back probably that would have been better um [Music] but so i'll probably have to i it's time to get a new one anyways i mean i'd like to get something that's probably better than that and has more memory and all that stuff so it would be you know would be a better deal but it's all just time i mean i got to go through and we had to do it on my wife's computer and uh she'd actually deleted all of the files says you used to do it on her on her mac and then deleted all of my files and templates and stuff and so that was again it's just all more time all more time a lot more fun but i digress back to the video that just loaded so on the small block chevy we ran some cool stuff and i know how much you guys all love the 305s because the 305 chevy obviously one of if not arguably the most impressive and powerful small block chevrolet ever made everyone loves 305 you know because that small bore and short stroke that's really how you make power especially when you limit yourself to the number of cylinder heads that you can actually use on that motor so you you know because only really the good sharp engine guys can get power out of a 305 all the rest of the guys rely on big bores and all the stuff that you would do to actually make power so around the 305 we ran that with nitrous and then we ran a 350 with uh twin turbos and then we ran a 383 with both a 671 roots blower and with a e85 two carburetors on that one because you know twice as nice and then also with a procharger as a blow through and it was an f1a 94 we didn't turn it up anywhere near all the way in fact we only turned it up to uh two thirds of the way actually around 800 horsepower and we know that that thing's capable of of 12 and change maybe more than that i think when we ran that on the big block we might have been up near 1300 with that supercharger so it's it's got a lot of potential i didn't know that would it wouldn't do that on that motor that motor was only like a 450 horsepower um it was a low compression 383 blueprint power adder deal so it was a nine to one with their ass cast heads and then a fairly small cam like a 220 224 230 kind of thing in that range and so it wasn't real stout to start off with but it you know it did make big numbers when we ran uh when we ran the pro charger on at least and made it made decent numbers with the it was a 671 wyan only ran that about i think we ran that about 11 pounds and i was talking about in the video about how on that application that to me that is like the ideal kind of application for e85 that's why we ran it on uh i think we ran into pump gas and then we ran on e85 and we ran with the same carburetors i just put a ton of jet in them because we don't wanna we don't wanna have to switch over to e85 carburetors um there's nothing that's more con time consuming than hooking up linkage on uh dual quad stuff on a blower or tunnel rim unless unless it's already done like that lucky for us we have a setup that we have a linkage set that we have set up already basically for that so we just kind of take it out of the cabinet and put it on and usually it's fairly close sometimes you have to re-adjust things but the thing that i don't understand this is this is something i actually wanted to design although i can't see why somebody else hasn't already done this is that if you if you're familiar with the linkage setups on tunnel rams or on blowers like a dual quad linkage you know they have a big long shaft and then and then it's um splined on both ends sometimes it's splined all the way through not always though but it's splined and then the the levers that you put on are also splined and you slide them on the problem is it's a really fine spline and so getting the linkage bars the arms exactly lined up can be difficult and then also and this is way more important than getting them lined up because you can you can change the length of the rod and stuff and for wide open throttle stuff like we're doing that's not it's not an issue as long as we get them to both go to wide open throttle especially on a blower they're all kind of dumping in there anyways but i don't understand because they're the um the arms are splined and they have a little through bolt and it's just like a it's like a pinch bolt basically so you slide this thing on and then tighten it up and it's you know it's got a little slot and then it pinches it to stop it from moving around but it also makes it so it's like impossible to get on and off you know with in any like reasonable amount of time and then they're so hard to get off that when you do pull them off and i and i know that you separate them with a screwdriver and we've been through all that but when you do finally pull them off instead of being able to pull it off nice and easy and rotate it you know because you can just feel the resistance and and click it like one spline and put it back in because that's all you're adjusting is one or two splines because that's how far you are off it's you work very far because you can eyeball it that close and you go to put it back on and then when you pull it off you're like okay now i have no idea what my starting point was and so that you put it back on and you put it back on in exactly the same spot because you already thought that that spot that that spline was right but no that's the one that was one spline off and then you got to redo it so my question is why don't they make that a very simple two-piece design oh the through bowl can still hold it there and you just make a little hook and then they clamshell together and then the bolt goes through and then that's all fixed they don't then when you take the bolt off the whole thing comes off and you can move it just one spline or two or whatever i don't understand why this and this design has been around i'm i'm sure since the 60s um because i know that they had rams back then and i think that they were using these things and i don't understand why somebody hasn't stepped up and made a better design it's so easy to do especially with um the 3d printed stuff somebody could make that in like a heartbeat and then the fine spline deal i'd like to see them make it so that it doesn't have like 18 or 20 or 30 or 900 different splines in there you could make it so that it's octagonal or even more than that but you don't need that many adjustment points it's going to be close it's going to be right you know i know that sometimes you have to it's usually the third arm that's on there the one that's actually you're controlling with normally we can troll it with a morse cable and we'll either it'll either be a puller or a pusher and sometimes sometimes you have to get that thing just right and it's it's a little bit of a rigmarole because you have to you know make both the arms move at the same rate and they both have to open the throttles and kind of open the four barrels they have to miss stuff because the carburetors are often close together you have to you and in the center especially you have to have the one arm opening that throttle because the other one's all the way on the other side on the front side and then you also have to miss the the throttle arm the one that's opening and closing it and miss the stuff that's going on with the carburetor and so yeah i can understand that but you there's a there's a much better way to do it it would be a lot easier if they made it so that it was a two-piece deal and in a clamshell together and i don't think they need to make them nearly that thick either because if they didn't make them that thick again it would be everything the fitment and all that stuff would work out better so somebody if you're listening guys from holley or wyand or whatever you need to make a better throttle linkage for tunnel rams and for blowers and it's very easy if you want to see how to do it just contact me and i will let you know i'll show you what i have in mind i can draw it out on a cocktail napkin and then you guys can make it it's very simple so um and then but but now back after my long tangent on throttle linkage the on the blower stuff the the cool thing about the roots blower and the centrifugal blower and i'm sure people will complain oh you need to run them at exactly the same amount of boost because then all the roots guys are going to say yeah but you ran the the centrifugal blower at higher boost yeah i did it's more blower okay that's not a surprise that an f1 a94 will make more power than the 671 it will and not by a little bit by quite a bit so it's not a comparison between those two i just wanted to show more you know it's always a thing to show the difference in the boost curves provided by the different kinds of blowers because they're dramatically different i mean we have one was a blow through one's a draw through you know it it's it's there's a lot of cool stuff going on there and people should realize that one isn't inherently better than the other but anybody that has the one that they have that's the best one except for the other guy that has the other one then that's the best one but i really like that f1 a94 we've run it on a lot of things and it seems to be you know relatively responsive you know comparatively so for for a uh centrifugal supercharger because they're not terribly responsive down low but that one can make lots of power and it has a good dynamic range we've run it from this one was 800 like i said we've run it all the way up to 12 or 1300 and it's a sizeable step when we run that blower compared to like the d1sc is in my opinion kind of the go-to sub 1000 horsepower street kind of blower and this is a sizable step up from that and it and it's so it's an impressive deal especially when you put a big giant like bell mouth radiused entry on it then it gets super happy and and also we run the pro charger intercooler with an air to water intercooler and that works and by the way for the carbureted guys out there the air-to-water intercooler or the air intercooler also works even on a blow-through application even a blow-through carbureted deal cooler air going in is going to make more power even though you're getting charge cooling even with the 85 all of that being said intercooler always good sometimes guys don't run them because they can't fit them or sometimes they don't want to have the extra weight and i understand all that but for the vast majority of us especially street or street strip kind of guys intercooling definitely a good idea and then on the twin turbo deal it wasn't a real high horsepower deal neither was the ford which will go up right after i get off of here the ford version of the power adder deal small block ford the twin turbo stuff was two i think two of the 76 millimeter cx racing turbos the og big bang ones that um the t-76s and that was also a blow through not not high horsepower because we weren't trying to maximize the deal and it was originally a vortech long block that we took the vortech heads off and then i put rhs heads just because west tech had them and um you know we put a small camshaft in it and then did a blow through deal on that again not we're looking for a huge horsepower we just kind of wanted to show on this on this is a test that ran for something else but it applies to the power adder deal you just kind of want to show that it's so easy to get like huge power gains from those things so any junkyard turbo ls or small block or ford or whatever any of those things if you add boost to that obviously good things happen supercharger is the same way nitrous is the same way and i can remember the first time i ever ran nitrous that it was on this 1977 camaro that wasn't even mine it belonged to my roommate harold and it actually before that belonged to my younger brother and before that belonged to my mom so it goes way back but we we put a um like a plate nos kit on it and i think it was like only 100 horsepower or something and that was an open diff car and i remember and we we had no idea what air fuel was none of that all we knew is that we hooked all that up and hooked the fuel going to it we had a mechanical fuel pump that i hope was enough um we ran that car down at the la carrera which is a lot like the silver state race where you get to run for i think the the lock bearer is longer i'm thinking it's 110 or 120 miles to run from san felipe to ensenada through that central part of mexico and it's a lot of fun although it's very exciting because you know at the [Music] during the two things during the drivers meeting well before the driver well during the driver's meeting they were serving tequila which was awesome and they had a swim up bar and the bartender eventually told us okay no more for you guys because um you're gonna drown so we got cut off but also the um they tell you at the drivers meeting when you go out during this race if you break down or something and bandits come out of the hills and want to take your car let them because they will shoot you so i thought you know that's nice of them to give us a heads up but that car ran there but that's the same car that we eventually put this first nitrous kit on and because it was an open diff man that you you would lay into the throttle and lay into the nitrous because you know that's what you would do and that thing would spin the tires for like about a month it was it was awesome and it's you know it's amazing because that car wasn't back when we were doing this wasn't terribly powerful um you know it was probably like a i don't know a 250 horsepower 300 horsepower motor maybe um and so when you add 100 horsepower to that it's a dramatic change it felt it felt night and day when you're running nitrous on like it did when i put the nitrous on my i think i put a 75 shot we may have eventually went up to 100 but a 75 shot on my 5 liter mustang it was kind of stock and i went through a lot of bottles of that but it man it made a big difference on a to you know rated 225 horsepower motor it made it it the car was fairly quick um like it was a low 14 second car stock because it was a lx and i had the 308 um the optional 308 gear on it uh it didn't have stereo or anything in that because i i i did have ac on it which i shouldn't have had because i show them stock racing it but you know it had it was a a fairly lightweight car and it was it was pretty fast and the nitrous made a huge difference that is when you don't bog it off the line and blow your air box up with the nitrous which is definitely not recommended so the nitrous is definitely cool and on the 305 obviously needed even though the 305 chevy that we ran it on um was a zex perimeter plate but it was a fairly healthy one because it had a good set of heads on it and had those trick flow uh super 23 175 heads which is you know arguably one of the heads that you would put on the small bore 305 motor and it worked good it had a fairly mild camshaft in it you know i think it was a 224 230 or something like that and with the nitrous on it the thing you know the thing made over 500 horsepower something was you know 500 and changed and so that would be a real sporty uh 305 so even the 305s you can make decent power with obviously you know if it's bigger it's going to be better and then the 350 with the turbo lots of power lots of torque and then obviously blower stuff on the um on the 383 it was already starting off fairly torquey but then you know a big 671 especially with 11 pounds and then e85 things were looking really good on the torque curve especially down low and then a you know if you have 800 plus horsepower 30 or 40 horsepower um that's a lot that's enough to get you in trouble and do do some real smoky burnouts and stuff which is awesome so i was looking today at um more stuff on the 2.2 liter turbo stuff doing that and looking at the 4200 stuff lots of um research today but let's see what you guys got going on okay jeremy i guess we can start with you i have a junkyard ls6 leader sloppy stage two going turbo street strip car which turbush i run uh you should gap your rings and a 7875 will get you up near a thousand horsepower unless you want more than that then the 80 would go more than that um my guess is if it's a street strip car you're not going to be maxing out that turbo because i don't know if you have enough trans and rear end and all that stuff for that [Music] yeah there's all these crazy stories down in mexico the cool thing is when we were running that race and we're on the locker era before they would run the cars they would run bikes and those guys are nuts uh jeremy uh ring gap is normally all that we do i i reuse the those rings um and you can look at the other stuff and gives you a good idea to find out if something is bad there uh what would minimum cylinder wall thickness what kind of motor is that we just run 10 pounds on the stuff that we get from the wrecking yard and and we don't go overboard on the blocks because there's no reason to do that there's no reason to go 30 over 60 over make a five three a five seven or a four eight a five seven and then run boost to it because the boost makes up for any of those things uh please explain where cylinder wall thickness counts counts everywhere right the the cylinder wall thickness and somebody mentioned this is it you can start getting into a problem i've seen problems with um overheating if you go too big of the bore and you know guys are trying to go 60 100 120 over depending on what engine family you're talking about you're not going to do that like on an ls on a 53 39 3905 is kind of as big as we go and i don't do that on boosted motors because any gain that you would get from going to that size versus just keeping it a five three or a ten over five three um it's just one pound so i would rather have the the structural integrity of the cylinder wall thickness and maybe that just makes me feel better um and then just have the boost because you ultimately if you have a thousand horsepower turbo the bore size isn't gonna matter that's what it's gonna make uh final let me know yeah so we we had a bunch of rain here too oh i got a flight if anybody saw weird science they would know what that is uh 582 twin turbo yeah you can put big turbos on that is the 3800 back from where um i haven't been down to west tech so uh when i go down there the 3800 that i have there that could potentially run is an l67 and i'll have to take the heads off of it definitely and maybe i can get away with i'm hoping take the heads off of it that are on it and put the l32 heads on it and if that works out i put the cam in and and turn the blower up and do all that kind of stuff have you tried a large single carb on a 671 i haven't because i don't think i've ever had a single carb lid for those burnout box yes i definitely reuse the rings and sometimes like on the big bang stuff i didn't even care what cylinder they went back in how far can you push the stock crank on a two bolt uh i don't think that that's the thing that's gonna break if you on a stock bottom end um you're gonna break a rod or piston even on that 350. so what's your thoughts on torque storm versus a whipple a whipple is going to make a lot more low speed power because it's a twin screw supercharger so it's going to be a lot it's going to when you get in the throttle like at let's say you like everybody wants me to do the testing on so let's say you go full throttle at 2000 rpm you're going to have a difference in boost of let's say that they both make 12 pounds out of the top the whipple's gonna have a slightly rising curve too but not like a torque storm so the torque storm at 2000 if it has peak boost let's say at 6 500 at 2 000 it's gonna have two or three pounds let's see if i can get yeah think twice about that huh um it's only gonna have two or three pounds where the whipple is going to have eight or nine so kind of a big disparity in boost down low between a positive displacement supercharger which the whipple is any centrifugal supercharger any centrifugal supercharger whether it's a torque storm or a procharger vortec whatever uh what grid do you use to polish crank journals and decks on iron blocks um i don't normally do that i normally take that to the guys at l r on the when i'll do a block with um either thousand or emery uh i don't know when the k24 is i don't know when we're gonna do that best cam for a high horsepower 383 i don't know what you mean by horsepower is it turbo motor is an na motor are you wanting to run it to 9000 rpm or what are you trying to do what heads do you have on it and all that uh would you prefer to k20 swapping well an ls motor is going to be a different kind of combination than the k series would be in an s10 both of you can make lots of power with and they'll be fun in different ways but the ls will be a lot torquier there there you go come on you gotta turn it back he'll ruin christmas [Music] i'm asking a 79 351 for cylinder wall thickness i'm about to pen to get my used block board 40 over and core shift as a concern i don't know what the i don't know about the board thickness on those 351 and 400 m motors um [Music] i i'm not sure just maybe have it sonic checked and i i don't think you're going to be going to the limit of the strength of the of the bore even if you turbocharge that thing because you're not going to be running 20 or 30 pounds on that do i have i ever done any nitrous testing yeah we've run nitrous on lots of stuff [Music] uh garage um what would be the best head for a 350 small block chevy roller block for 100 nitrous there isn't there's no such thing as the best heads the nitrous just adds to whatever is there so forget that you're running nitrous now you've got to decide how much power do i want to make naturally aspirated and then i'm going to add 100 shot to that or 150 or whatever shot you add to that that's how to look at it so build the motor to make whatever power you want it to make n a and then add whatever amount of nitrous the head's not going to the head's not at all going to be affected by whatever you're doing with the nitrous so the cylinder head that you add you want a good if you want to make power you add a good set of heads you have an airflow research head or a trick flow head or some other kind of head the brodex head dart head whatever it is that's going to make the power that you want so you build the engine with the camshaft and compression and cylinder head and intake manifold to do what the na motor does and then if you want to make it 100 horsepower better you had 100 shot 150 at 150 shot and that's what nitrous does so don't worry about the head and the nitrous because they're not really related uh what's your desired compression for boosted applications that that would be more of a that'd be less about boost than it would be about boost and octane so if you're wanting to run on pump gas i probably would tend toward running it lower than normal if you're running e85 then then anywhere from 10 down and we've run lots of boost on factory stuff that's closer to 11 and we without changing it i would be more apt to to definitely do ring gap the higher the static compression and then the the what happens is the the window the margin of error um that window for the tune becomes like ultra small the higher the compression that you go and then guys want oh i want to run eleven to one but i don't but i want to run it on 91 and i want to run 20 pounds i just tell those guys good luck uh burnout box the the boost doesn't make a difference again just like the nitrous explanation the boost doesn't make a difference with the port or with the valve size think about the n a motor whatever is going to help the n a motor and then you add boost to that uh a i don't think people put 202s in the 862 heads but a 2 inch valve i think is what would be in that 317 head a 2 inch valve tends to help the flow of that smaller head although i think i would be less apt to do that on a 5.3 than i would be on a 6-0 andrew you'll be able to make more power than you have stupid fly yeah your stupid cat um somebody needs to tell me what movie that's from uh it's the knight of quotes um in your 540 in an s10 unless it's a back half deal um a 540 with a pro charger on it's gonna make a lot of power uh you found a 1986 plymouth horizon i want to buying it to build it that is the is it in good shape yeah 9000 rpm 383 maybe if you did it with lots of bore size it would be okay okay i'm gonna have to ninja this guy i think he was laughing at me got my fly swatter i'm gonna see if i can knock him out would be awesome if i could get that guy yeah you gotta get on camera too ah let's see where are we let's see brandon i have a two bolt small block chevy 406 studs with a 78 millimeter turbo plan to have four bolt converted what are some of the power levels before the block will give out um i don't know that going to a four bolt from the two bolt um maybe that's the way to go what power is an aftermarket block needed i i think it's beyond what that turbo is come on come on come on in range i got tone i got tone ooh i got him let's see if he's gonna come back from that i know he's got he's at least got a concussion uh say a fender roll headers for it already so if do are you not gonna want well if you have thunderbolt headers for it then you might as well just put the blower on the blower will be easier to bolt on when is a 360 magnum getting a turbo after the 360 magnum gets the pistons flipped back around to the right orientation and maybe i could probably run it with a stock heads i'm thinking uh 97 mustang 3.8 or v6 what horsepower would be good for street strip well you decide how much horsepower you want how much is your transmission in your clutch and your rear end and all that stuff how much will that hold but boost is going to be the best way to get that out of the 3.8 liter kevin thank you very much did i miss it or i have not made the magnum go bang it we haven't done anything with the magnum since we ran we ran a whole series of stuff when i was down there with the engine masters guys we did the piston flip and we ran a bunch of different intake manifolds on it and cam upgrade and that kind of stuff but i haven't run any boost on it yet but i will and thank you i and i and i will uh jose we run 7 000 ring gap per inch of bore that's how to do it and it works for every motor i'm trying to get away with a 350 small block running nine and a half to one on pump gas is it an iron-headed motor sean or an aluminum headed motor and it's non-intercooled that it should be if it's a blow-through carbureted deal you probably could get away with that but see already you're saying i'm running eight to ten pounds what he really means by that is more than ten pounds because after you if you run eight pounds you'll turn it up and then you'll turn it up and that's why that's why would an intercooler is a good idea uh low buck supercharged four valve five four navigator do i drop compression do i use two valve five four pistons something from a four six uh what are you using a super what supercharger are you using on that i run an nls plate on my higher end with two four so do you run two ruthless do you run two plates then one under each four 4-hole throttle body like i did with the big unsuccessfully with the big bang but we had multiple kits on it with the big bang 5-3 nitrous steel do you have a kit under each plate because that should work good because then the distribution should be good in a high ram which is what we were thinking when we did it um and i don't i don't know that um dry nitrous is i don't know that that's going to be even bet any better and and i would say that that's going to vary based on how much nitrous you're trying to run and how much fuel you're trying to run after i think after a certain point it's better to go with a like a direct fogger deal because then you can manage you know the amount of nitrous and and make it make them even per cylinder the amount of nitrous and the amount of fuel that you're injecting into each cylinder and hopefully with that sort of setup it's even because even doing a plate system or two plate a two plate systems i think would be better and probably give a little more even distribution but there's no guarantee that the right amount goes into each one whereas with a fogger as long as the flow rate is the same they should be a lot more even my airfield gauge is reading 11 to 13. that's um that's a big swing i hope it's not 13 at wide open throttle unless that's not a um not a supercharger turbocharged version um uh pro street the 750 the size of the carburetor actually the bigger the carburetor the more likely the thing is to run lean and not rich so if it's too rich you need to look at something else it's not the carburetor size it's it's going to be the jetting or the signal i did see the the stuff on the new z06 it looks pretty impressive i mean that's a fairly high specific output motor yes it has and it has the flat plain crank that everybody asked for so it should sound cool so you can buy the horizon you can buy the whole car as a builder that our our guys won't let us do that the magnum's going to the moon so you're brandon you're making 520 horsepower and 670 foot-pounds why is there so much more torque than horsepower have you thought about doing some down testing with cryo heat treated parts i don't i don't know what good the dyno testing that i do i don't think would show anything because there's no way to to test whether that adds any strength or not unless you do all of them to destruction and even then it would be hard for me to determine that that did anything maybe it does and and i'm not saying that it doesn't i'm just saying it's a hard it's a really hard thing for me to test the pink panther episode is one but no the the fly is definitely from um weird science yeah it's amazing how much nitrous wakes those things up how can i send you a burnout box sticker where am i going to put the sticker i don't even know if i have anything we'll do a burnout maybe the truck will oh stuart that's very cool you're running an m113 mercedes supercharger with an adapter plate on the navigator that's that's a cool combination oh ruth is i said okay i see you're running the the dedicated plate for the hi-ram i haven't i haven't tested one of those yeah that should make good power then and that and that distribution should be fairly even i would think a 460 and a 351 windsor um it depends on your power level the 460 they make a lot of torque and if you're going to do a 460 you might as well make it into a 557. i think a uh centrifugal blower is easier on tuning on a blow through carb set up than a turbo is uh ruthless what what test exactly would you want to see i ain't no punk that's good thank you very much uh do you need an o2 sensor on each bank for a single turbo v8 you we sometimes do that but it's hard to do a lot of times on a turbo unless you have um like if you're using cast exhaust manifolds or something to feed the turbo which we do a lot it's hard to have an individual o2 on each bank i see what you're saying i think you're talking about individual cylinders um we i don't normally do that i i run the sensor on one side and if we're running a single turbo i run it after the turbo anyway so after it's already merged uh how much boost would you run on a stock small block well hopefully before too long i'm going to find out how much we can run i've never run all of it you're going to get a gm632 i'm not that guy i'm not one of the motor trend guys that gets that kind of stuff no the slant six is ready to go back together the head's fixed on it i just need to bolt it back together and run it and i think that dosage just tested a bunch of slant six intake manifolds uh adam twelve and a half to one is not what i would do on a turbo combination you can as long as you have lots and lots of octane a billet 85 t6 should be able to make a lot of power have you ever had stockroz reheat treated i don't think i have kevin you found a 77 monza all of the uh of the bonneville guys are like probably gonna be beating your door down those are actually very popular drag race cars too [Music] oh the the one up in sacramento will let you do that man i need to come up there and take a look uh the other quote was actually from um get out of here stupid cat that's from uh bolt oh josh do you they're micro polished then um to see if it adds power so you wanna see if the um the change in change in surface does that i don't know if that will do anything derek thank you very much yeah it helps when you go to a local yard like the one that i go to the guys are starting to know me and it helps at lu3 you know laguna yep did you cut a half inch off i need to they are pretty for pretty far down in the hole [Music] do you have to put a delay on how quickly the ot sensor responds if it's further down the stream i don't see that what i do when i'm tuning is we run the o2 sensor in the turbo we make a run and we see where the airfield needs to be adjusted it's too rich here too lean there we take fuel out and add fuel in the spots where we need to adjust it we run it again and then it's fixed so it's not a i haven't seen a delay thing that people talk about uh i'd like to see the buick with seven turbos that would be better uh pro seal car a car pro charge blow through small block would work good in that it did make a lot of power we ran one for um chad reynolds uh wagon when we did that tv show for daphne um and it it works really well his was a 400 and it was from the guys at blueprint so it was a power adder deal with but we put more camshaft in it more cylinder head on put your flow heads on and a bigger comp cam and stuff in it but it works good and and i think you'll be happy with it just make sure you have enough fuel pump chad didn't have enough yeah i can't wait to run the slant 62 i haven't done her i have never run one of those that i can remember i have a bone stock 305 excuse me twins at 12 and a half pounds no issues injectors are 95. so they must they're not stock injectors i take it they must be quite a bit bigger than stock that thing's got to be making a lot of torque yeah they do like it they they become your friend at the wrecking yards when you spend lots of money there so when i go there and buy three or four motors on the weekend which is has been happened has happened many times um we get a bunch of them all once on the sale weekends when they used to be 50 off now it's 40 off they they like it when you spend lots of money oh pro street you still have a 75 vega nice yeah that last turbo just needs to be like a 96 or 105 or something [Music] the kmac the 351 is probably going to fit better than a 460 is and and you can make a lot of power especially if you boost it [Music] richard can i run i'm sure you mean 243 heads on lq9 with that cam go for s480 a thousand horsepower what do you think it it that will be fine an s480 will make that power on that lq9 with a lot less camshaft than that and it will drive around better if you don't use that camshaft you want to you could do that you could put a camshaft in it that you don't need a converter with that you could run a stock inverter with with those heads and this and the truck intake even or a trailblazer ss whatever you want to run um and you run a mild enough cam like a stage two truck cam or something and still get a thousand horsepower with that camshaft and it'll drive around a lot better or or you could put that cam in and it'll you know it'll just make the same power it'll just do it at less boost uh what fuel system mods to run a blow through well you need enough fuel pump to supply the fuel flow at whatever pressure you're going to have to run that system at so if you're if you you have to have seven pounds to feed the carburetor so then whatever boost is your fuel pump has to be able to supply whatever fuel flow you're asking it to supply at six or seven pounds plus whatever the boost is so if you're running 10 pounds your your fuel system has to support that flow at 17 pounds of pressure and and that takes a fairly good pump to do that because a lot of the carbureted fuel pumps the fuel flow falls off dramatically um after you after you start raising the pressure i have run the 2.3 svo turbo and t-bird motors on the on the chassis dyno a lot but not on an engine dyno i think mark sanchez has one of those but it's an n a one and i it might be broke though i'd have to ask him uh kyle lots of 4-8 videos up for you to choose from whatever kind of power level you want to make on a 4-8 a cam 4-8 can be like stock one makes the way that we run it makes like 330 so you can make you know 350 370 400 more than that depending on how cammy you want the thing to be uh katie's you're going to bolt the tune port on a 400 small block it's going to make peak power like 4 000 rpm uh lots of guys run eights in a four eight a boosted four eight matt's done it i think um uh calvin's done it although calvin i think the one that calvin when eight's in is a d stroke six leader [Music] hey who's don hardy uh derrick got a 48 putting a cam of springs to start i want to do a power editor he's playing with nitrous a good start yeah nitrous is going to be cheaper than a setup for a turbo even though the turbo itself is fairly inexpensive but nitrous stuff is very inexpensive and it's easy to do and it'll give you a good idea on what that motor will do or what that combination will do with an extra 100 horsepower or whatever lot most of even the low dollar kits will go to 150 horsepower so so you gotta offer jobs when you're at the wrecking yard building an l96 those are good that i you know having the extra displacement definitely is going to help there do you think uh hemol's residents will can be paired with booze hamilt's residence is always going to be present present the resonating volume of the plenum and the associated other pieces that are uh connected to that that's always going to be there it resonates at a certain frequency the boost isn't going to stop that it's just that there are other things going on too reflected waves and inertial ram and sometimes those things cancel each other out but boost as a universal thing doesn't cancel that out oh 77 vega wagon nice surely you can't be serious i am and don't call me shirley we need to get this man to the hospital is it serious what is it it's a big building with patients but that's not important loving me some airplane let's see here richard i had a gen 44 edelbrock rpm heads howard's 540 226 232 thinking setting this up based on your g457 it ran across a deal on a yn420 blower the one the 420 blower works pretty good it'll make good power it's going to be kind of like a 671 i think and all of the rest of stuff will work fine uh yeah that's what i have my 2.3 and it's an 87 turbo coupe nice what's a safe boost level if you have lots and lots of octane you can certainly run 18 pounds we i think we were running already more than 20 on the dyno the problem is that those the factory intercoolers we dave from tiny avenger put the t-bird intercooler on that because it's an upgrade from the svo when it's bigger from the t-bird than the than the svo was and we used to um before we make a run we'd spray it down with water and then i'd have an air nozzle from the you know from plugged into the the shop air and we'd be blowing air through the core um while we're making the run to just to make sure and then one time um he didn't hook up either he didn't or i didn't i'll take full blame for it we can say it was me um didn't hook up the way the wastegate line or hooked it up to the top or something and it just it just pegged the boost gauge and it blew the intercooler off and the intercooler hit the ceiling and stuff is pretty fun and a manual controller works good you can get a little bit better control and get a little bit more response rate with a manual or with an electronic controller and usually have a fairly more consistent curve assuming that you have enough turbo to do with what you're asking it to [Music] yeah stuart what you want from the supercharger is you want it to not make a lot of boost you you'd rather have the motor be more efficient and have that thing make less boost because if it makes us boost it's flowing more air and it has a cooler charge temperature that thing i think has an integrated air to water cooler on it if i remember right how much damage can i run without pulling timing uh i haven't seen gail's project lockjaw i'll have to take a look at it i don't know where you find eq heads i looked around for some uh when i was when we first started doing the magnum stuff and i didn't really see any that were um available they're apparently harder to find i'm gonna try some from the guys at um speedmaster though thoughts on the vortech v3 non-intercooled for two valve you can run that we've run them a lot uh was the 88 t5 upgraded for more torque in the last year the turbo coupe did is that was that the world-class one that they did maybe yeah the turbos were tiny they were t3s and some of them were um 48 ars too and then they had 63s and also 82s that we tested can you daily a blow through e85 will the car be too much of a pain every day with e85 and corrosion no actually the more that you drive it the better it is it's when they sit for a long time that things get bad jacob you can run the you can turbocharge that ford 240 with cast pistons and stock rods you don't have to have forged pistons in it we um we all picked the wrong cam you had six days to build the ls2 and and you can run a hot mess you can run a um a manual controller and you can you can route it to the top and bottom but and we've done that sometimes but yeah an electronic controller is going to be better because it's going to hold the gate closed until it reaches the thing and and manual controllers don't normally do that they you start getting like bleed off before that and so it kind of it kind of chops the curve off in that at that point otherwise the curve goes up and then then levels off and if you can you know that's more boost more average boost if you can have it held closed i'm before six h-beam rods keep black hyper-tectic pistons rings gap for nitrous head studs and patriot vortech heads it well tyler the the easiest way is to you can mathematically calculate it if you can figure out what the chamber size is on the heads and you can look at the pistons and see if they are a flat top or a dish if they're a flat top your life is easy if they're a dome or a dish it gets a little bit harder because then you just have to estimate whatever that is uh stewart i wouldn't be worried about the nine and a half to one compression we run boost on that kind of stuff all the time uh richard how much power have you seen on a small block 350 the maximum amount power towards one of those making so i i haven't i haven't ever run a small block to the maximum amount so i don't know what that is i want to do that on a l31 now what's your opinion on the 386 stroker from blueprint i've never tested that one um the boost is not going to break uh uh i mean jacob if you think about what we do with the stock bottom end ls motors at 29 pounds at 1 54 horsepower and 1300 in whatever foot-pounds of torque and and it doesn't break a stock cast piston or a powdered metal rod i don't think you have to worry about and 10 pounds isn't like a breaking point because if you have 10 pounds you only have 8 degrees of timing it's not going to break uh you can run as much boost as you want with a stock cam and stock heads yeah stock bottom end small block and think about what it takes to run this hot rod saying that he's seen one run eights on a stock bottom end if you do ring gap in them and you have the tune right and you have the charge air right and you know everything's right you can get away with a lot like we did with the stock bottom and ls stuff i do need to do the big big bang big block [Music] a hunter a 4 8 with boost and a cam in springs you'll have trouble only running tens it's probably gonna run it's probably gonna go nines i didn't get any response from rob i he um he liked my post or whatever my comment but uh yeah it should last a season without any problem at all hunter all of that is going to be tuned that's not going to be strength you put ring gap in it and the tune is right you got head studs and and good gaskets on it and everything is right you have a good intercooler and all that [Music] uh 10.4 i wouldn't worry about that compression joe [Music] you're doing a compound setup with two of the same size turbos hp turner tuner or holley terminator x i i don't do anything with either one of those so i don't know which one yeah if you if you a hot mess is that a is that a big block it's gotta be right i i like the hollies i i haven't done the terminator x we do h i do hp and um dominator but the i'm sure it's the same because i'm sure that they use the same stuff and as long as it can get you the airfield that you want the timing that you want then then it will make the power e85 works fine for that compression boost and you can pull timing you program what kind of timing to take out like with any sort of standalone or or even a factory ecu you determine what the timing curve is under boost so it will it will not have the timing if you're commanding it all right guys it's time to get going say man time flies when you're having fun and when you're crushing those flies ups first class nice i'm liking it thank you guys all for showing up make sure to go take a look at the video that i put up on the small block chevy power router stuff and then the ford stuff should go off uh go up right after i get off here so you guys have a good night thanks for showing up man we'll see you later
