hey midwest city residents let's talk trash here's how it works in our city we pick up your trash using a vehicle that is solely operated by one employee the driver safety is the number one priority for us and the single operator vehicles don't require a loader in the back of the truck so there's no risk of injury from riding on the back or dealing with inclement weather conditions these vehicles also make the collection process more efficient so we collect your trash faster and keep your costs down proper cart placement we want to explain how to properly place your cart at the curb so it's accessible to our equipment there are four main points we need you to keep in mind number one make sure that your card opening is facing the road this ensures that all of your cart contents get dumped in the truck a mechanical arm reaches out picks up your cart lifts it up and dumps it into the truck if the cart opening is not facing the street the lid acts as a barrier and keeps the contents from emptying the lid on the cart is important because it keeps the contents dry and it prevents your trash from blowing into your neighbor's yard or the street number two make sure that your trash cart is at least five feet away on all sides from any other object such as a car your mailbox a basketball goal or another trash or recycling cart don't stack your carts one in front of the other make sure that the arm on our equipment can collect your cart without hitting anything else number three make sure your cart is at the curb no later than 7 a.m on the morning of your weekly collection number four don't stuff your trash cart too full the contents need a little room to move freely so they can fall out of the cart and into the truck improper cart placement because of the way the arm comes out and lifts your cart there's a risk of property damage if the cart is placed too close to any other object if your cart is not properly placed at the curb we cannot collect your trash we must send a different driver in another truck to collect your cart and you will be charged an additional twenty dollars our costs for trash collection are based on the efficiency of using the single operator vehicle you can help us keep your cost down by properly placing your cart at the curb so the mechanical arm on our truck is able to get to your cart for more information visit the solid waste trash services section of our website at midwestcityok.org or call our public works department at 739-1066 let's work together to put waste in its place
