we all have things that come against us it's easy to live up tight wondering how it's going to work out what if the medical report isn't good what if my finances don't get better what if my child doesn't get accepted in that school we tried to figure it out we've done our best but we don't see anything changing if we're not careful we'll live worried discouraged not expecting it to get better but there's a simple phrase you have to keep down in your spirit god's got this he's on the throne he sees what's happening he already has the solution you don't have to figure it out there may not be a logical answer in the natural you don't see a way that's okay we serve a supernatural god he has ways to do it we've never thought of instead of trying to force it to happen living up tight you have to let go and let god when you turn it over to him and say god i know you've got this i know you're in control not only will you feel the heaviness the weight lift off of you but god will make things happen that you couldn't make happen and some of the things that are frustrating you now causing you to lose sleep that would all change if you would have this new perspective that god's got this sometimes we're trying to play god we're trying to make our boss promote us make ourselves get well and make the contract go through but as long as we're trying to force it living frustrated worried then god steps back but when you take your hands off and say god i know you've got this i'm not going to worry about my finances i'm not going to live up tight because of the medical report i'm not going to be frustrated because i haven't met the right person god i trust your timing and i trust your ways my life is in your hands an anxious and a worried mind is not normal you know what is normal for a believer peace oh that's our normal atmosphere that is the atmosphere of heaven that's the atmosphere that we are supposed to live in the spiritual atmosphere is the peace that passes understanding why are we going to pray if we're going to just keep worrying it's just silly it's just wasted effort if you're going to worry don't pray [Music] when i try to teach i'm not worrying i finally got to the point where i thought you know lord this is useless for me to teach i'm not wearing because people are going to worry anyway i heard all the messages i'm not wearing and i wore it anyway so i finally just kind of got down with god and study and i said when are people going to stop worrying and here's what i've learned i can stand here and tell you i'm blue in the face not to worry but you know what you're going to worry until you finally realize that it's useless it doesn't help your problem doesn't solve your problem all it is is us saying i think if i think about this long enough and worry about it long enough i can figure something out that's not going to work sometimes i bring a rocking chair i didn't bring that this weekend worry is like rocking in a rocking chair all day it keeps you busy but gets you nowhere at the end of the day you'll still be in the exact same spot just going back and forth back and forth back and forth and i would say that worry is a pretty huge problem for a large majority of people it is do i ever worry yeah there's sometimes when i do but i tell you i don't nothing like what i used to my goodness god has brought me a long way i'm not where i need to be but thank god i'm not where i used to be i'm making progress and you can get to the point where you don't worry all you have to do when you're worried is just think about something else go get your mind on something else get your mind on something good and just say out loud this is not going to help me it's not going to do me any good it's useless it's a waste of time worry is like a rocking chair it'll give you something to do but it will accomplish absolutely nothing i'm going to say this several times today worry is in fact practical atheism worry is in fact practical atheism you really don't believe god can come through in this moment to protect you to provide for you to heal your body to deliver you how to set you free from the addictions that are destroying you how to break the chains of misery and habit that have enslaved you or the members of your family from the word of god today i'm going to prove that god is absolutely in control of planet earth and he can be absolutely in control of your life if you'll let him he will not demand to override your free will but if you will give him the opportunity he will make a way or there seems to be no way and he will scatter your enemies like the shocks of the summer threshing floor because our god is an awesome god he is almighty he is all-knowing giving praise in the house of god [Music] this sermon is a penicillin shout for worry addicts roll up your sleeve the great position is in the house philippians 4 6 and 7 ready be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to god and the peace of god which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds through jesus christ read the first four words be anxious for nothing how many of you believe that you're more valuable to god than a bird you believe that you're more valuable to god than a bird well we know what matthew 6 says look at the birds they don't worry they're not frustrated they're not concerned about anything and yet god keeps feeding them are you not worth much more than a bird why waste your time worrying about something that's going on in your life today because tomorrow you're going to have something new that you can think about if you want to so let's pray and let's really believe when we pray that god hears us and that's one of the things that has really helped me i really have come to the point where i truly believe when i pray that god hears me and that he will do what needs to be done about it in his timing and if it's not my timing i'm going to have to be happy with it anyway because my upset is not going to make god hurry come on have you ever noticed how worry comes at a bad time it comes at a time of crisis just when you need a clear mind and steady nerves to make a great decision here comes worry like a dark cloud to hide the sun like a leech draining creative ability to think worry is a killer it makes cowards out of strong and aggressive men it fills the face with wrinkles and apprehensions are you listening ladies wrinkles and apprehensions you're smearing goo on your face they cost fifty dollars an ounce hoping it'll remove a wrinkle the best thing you can do for your face is quit worrying worry paralyzes the man so that it can't produce a better idea to solve a new problem it robs your body of rest at night it sends you to work shattered shaky second rate you are on the naked edge again medical science not theologians medical science proclaimed that worry is the mother of cancer worry is the source of heart disease worry is the thing that causes high blood pressure and ulcers it's not what you're eating it's what's eating you that matters i think it's better just to say god i don't know what to do if you show me what to do and give me the grace i'll do it i'll partner up with you god but i can't do it without you first peter 5 6 and 7 says humble yourself under the mighty hand of god and in due time he may exalt you and then it says casting all your care on god for he cares for you so how do we humble ourselves we humble ourselves by saying i'm not going to worry about this because frankly i don't think i'm smart enough to solve it now i don't mean that we're dumb i mean we have wisdom we have knowledge and there are many things that we can do and so if it is something you can do the bible says do all that the crisis demands and then stand firmly in your place so you do what you can do but there are certain things that you cannot do faith prays but what you do after you pray while you're waiting on god to finish his work is so so important enemies in life the enemy of sickness the enemy of addiction the enemy of debt those enemies can sense when you're afraid of them they'll take more ground that's why the scripture says give no place to the enemy but when they see you standing strong thanking god when you could be complaining being good to people when you could be better at peace when you could be panicked you are sending a message to those enemies that says loud and clear you have no power over me you cannot stop me my god is in control and if he before me who dare be against me i can imagine daniel instead of worrying he found a nice soft piece of grass laid down fell asleep early the next morning the king came running out to the lion's den to see what happened the scripture says he called out in anguish daniel servant of the living god was the god you constantly worship able to save you notice how he addressed daniel daniel was in there because he was worshipping a different god yet the king called him daniel son of the living god even the king knew something was different about daniel when he saw daniel come walking toward him unharmed passing the lions the king couldn't believe it he was overjoyed verse 23 says not a scratch was found on daniel because he trusted in his god amazing things happen when you stay in faith and trust god god not only protected daniel but the king ordered the men that conspired against daniel to be arrested and thrown into the same lion's den but they didn't have the same outcome before they hit the ground the hungry lions tore them apart the king issued a new decree it said from now on everyone in my kingdom should worship the god of daniel he rescues his people he's the living god stressed out over your job discouraged because of a disappointment thinking it's not going to work out come back to that place of peace god's got this he's directing your steps he's bringing the right people across your path and your children's path he has beauty for the ashes right now he's working behind the scenes in your life dare to trust him dare to believe when we worry we tie the hands of almighty god we all face situations that are bigger than us a bad medical report you lost a major client trouble in a relationship it's easy to think of all the reasons why it's not going to work out that's when you have to dig your heels in and switch over into faith no god i know you've got this thank you for protecting my children thank you for fighting my battles thank you for healing my body when you're tempted to worry turn it around and thank god that he's working
