[Music] when shopping for a cruising catamaran it's not only important to look at a spec sheet to see if a boat's equipped for the mission that you're trying to accomplish but also the level of expertise on the seller when you take those two items and combine them you're almost guaranteed to end up with what could be a perfect cruising catamaran for your next boat today we're not just going to do the normal walkthrough like we always do where we talk about the big picture items i want to show you all the micro details on what sets this boat apart from any other leopard 48 i've personally been on we're going to begin today's tour here on the starboard transom with a few items i'd like to point out one of the first micro details that i noticed when i first climbed aboard zenobia was the fact they added a grab rail here as well as a cleat for the tender those are two areas where robertson and kane probably should have done something fortunately for the next owners of xenobia the current owners address all those small little annoyances to make her just a far more usable boat as we continue up beneath my feet right now is the first of two yanmar engines both engines just underwent the thousand-hour service which included valve clearance new impellers fan belts new motor mounts and they even changed all the hoses on the engine they run and sound absolutely brand new another small micro detail that you'll see here in this starboard corner of the transom is they have these louvered covers for the aft windows which allows them to remain open while it's still inclement outside speaking about inclement weather there's two things that the owner of zenobia has done to really make this a safe secure place no matter how stormy it is like it was this morning when we were out sailing first thing you'll see is this eisenglass enclosure which they had manufactured custom for the boat and st martin now that's pretty common a nice enclosure although this one they take it one step further with a couple more openings both on the starboard side as well as the port side and then these triangles that drop down on both starboard and port side which allows the stern to remain open giving you good access to the weather decks while still fully enclosing the space a few additional micro details i'd like to cover here on the transom is the sellers of this boat put a brand new high field 380 with the euro helm and a 25 horsepower motor back in 2020 the other really nice thing they did here on the transom is they actually had a custom rack built here for the scuba tanks which slightly holds them off the transom of the boat so you can have four bottles here without obstructing the walkway whatsoever they also had a design where they could put their jerry jugs here for when they're doing an offshore passage which this family has done they've taken this boat as far south as grenada and we're currently sitting up here in the chesapeake bay now being south african the owners of this boat they're all about the braai or the barbecue so they got rid of the magma barbecue which is not necessarily the greatest unit in the world and went with a weber q series grill which they have absolutely loved making our way into the actual cockpit i just want to give you guys a quick kind of overview of the space like you would find on any leopard 48 so here on the port hand side we have a large u-shaped city for alfresco dining adjacent to that we have an l-shaped city and that is kind of where this boat stops being like a regular leopard 48. they've got a large dometic freezer that they keep in the cockpit all the soft goods in the cockpit have been recently replaced including new foam which is a four inch closed cell memory foam and backrests including a new ratcheting backrest here on the aft bench and they added an aftermarket backrest here which robertson and kane didn't offer from the factory they've done so many nice things to this boat but probably one of my top three favorite things they did is here in the cockpit which they added a dive locker here now this space beneath the helm is a complete dead space with absolutely zero storage and now because of the way that they've added this hatch access here they've got the ability to hang all of their bcds fins etc etc in a place that would normally never be utilized moving forward from there we've got a cockpit refrigerator and above that we have a fire extinguisher compartment let's go and take a couple steps and make our way up to the helm station it's a very very easy boat to sail single-handed or short-handed the boat's got two powered winches one mechanical winch and all of the sail control lines that are relevant to sailing this boat are brought back here to this helm position making it a super easy boat to navigate and that all starts here over on the port side where we've got all of our reef lines and spinnaker halyards brought to this port side winch now when we make our way to the actual console you'll see this boat has bng electronics which were installed by the current owner in lieu of the raymarine electronics now one of the many many smart things that the sellers of this boat did is instead of ripping out the old raymarine autopilot system they actually still have the original raymarine autopilot in in a completely secondary mode so if there is ever an issue with the bng you've got the redundancy that'll help get you home safely and comfortably so with the bng electronics we've got a multi-function display here we've got another multi-function display here we've got the bng autopilot control as well as a large chart plotter now above that another very smart micro detail added to this boat is a stainless steel grab rail which in a really rough seaway gives you something else to hold on to while you're up here underway just beneath the b g electronics are the two yanmar control panels and as i mentioned these engines just both had their thousand hours service completed which is quite the undertaking and on the starboard side of the helm we have the genoa sheet as well as the main halyard also brought to the lumar electric winch from here we're going to make our way to the port transom and then onwards to the weather decks before we make it to the transom it's worth noting this boat is equipped with lithium batteries which are housed centerline port underneath the city here over on the starboard side we've got a propane locker with additional storage and then port aft we've got this large lazarette which is where the bauer dive compressor is located under foot right now is the second yanmar 4jh and both of these engines are paired with sd60 sail drives as well as folding props there's also the upgraded factory swim ladder and a hot cold water shower why don't we go and make our way up to the foredeck and check out one of my favorite areas on the leopard 48 in general first thing i want to point out is this great grab rail here giving you good access up to the deck and it's also the perfect opportunity to talk about how this boat has over 2000 watts of solar which means power management is essentially a non-issue for this family while they're cruising first thing that you see when you come up to this four deck is the ford cockpit and that is what has made the leopard 48 such an exceptionally popular boat for not just charters but also private owners equally important to this lounging space is storage up ford on the port side here we have a large four peak which gives you even more storage as well as one over on the starboard bow that mirrors it under my feet right now we've got a large lazarette on the port side which also houses the northern lights generator and on the starboard side an equally large lazarette where you have 200 gallons of fresh water that can be replenished by the boat's onboard desalination system center line we have the anchor windlass and chain run this particular boat is equipped with an 80-pound mantis anchor which has provided exceptional holding all throughout the caribbean and the bahamas for this family we've already talked about how zanobia is an easy boat to handle short-handed and part of that is because of the large roach mainsail here on a double spreader rig as well as the roller furler with the genoa in general i've always found the leopards to be great sailing boats and the 48 is no exception to that rule today we had fairly light winds before the squall came through we're still getting 7 8 knots of boat speed and only 12 to 14 knots of wind you really can't beat sailing on the chesapeake bay this time of the year another micro detail worth mentioning up here on the foredeck is this additional stanchion support and the third lower lifeline giving this boat a very safe and secure feel when moving forward or aft over the last 10 years robertson and kane has really taken over the north american market and a big part of that is that space we're sitting in right now the ford cockpit the reason laura and i personally love the ford cockpit on the leopard 48 is where we normally cruise either the bahamas or the caribbean the predominant breeze is out of the east so what does that mean that tends to mean that in the late afternoon sun the aft deck becomes incredibly hot on any catamaran sitting in anchor which is where we like to be anyways so having this forward cockpit gives you the ability to not only get into the breeze but also step out of the sun another added benefit of this ford cockpit is actually the door itself that door is literally the largest hatch you could possibly put on a catamaran and it lets so much breeze flow through the salon that you find you don't even have to run the air conditioning that much when you're cruising in the tropics on the port side of the cockpit we have a single seat as well as a fusion stereo controller we have little tables that pop up which are the perfect place to enjoy a sundowner wallet anchor on the starboard side we've got a nice lazarette as well as adequate storage beneath the centerline forward-facing bench to store additional jerry cans it's really nice having the cutout above giving you really good access up to the four deck if the weather does turn and it starts raining it's nice having a slider to help keep some of the rain out one of the nicest things about this space is the easy access from the fordec into the salon which is where we're gonna head to now when you first step into this space it might feel a lot like the salon you'd find on one of the other 200 or so leopard 48's ever built i'm going to show you a couple of very specific changes the owners of this boat made making it a far more cruising friendly catamaran port ford we have the nav station like you'll find on all the leopard 48s this particular boat though is equipped with a remote for the raymarine autopilot backup system fusion stereo iridium go as well as an ipad mount and a raymarine vhf there's also additional charging ports over here on the outboard side centerline and starboard forward we have a large u-shaped city with a high-low table with additional storage beneath that and on the starboard side when we go down to the owner's stateroom i'm going to show you a custom cabinet that they had built making that space far more usable there's also plenty of storage on the shelves on the outboard side and then starboard app we've got the main electrical distribution panel as well as the victron control panel remote start for the generator and the air conditionings continuing the theme of improving this boat over their term of ownership they've ripped out the original drawer style fridge system and put in an isotherm side-by-side fridge freezer to help supplement the cooling they already have in the cockpit with the cockpit fridge and the dometic freezer out there moving from starboard to port we get to the galley and as many of you all know i consider myself an amateur chef or a home cook and the way that they utilize the space is far better than what robertson and kane did from the factory a good example of that is a slide out drawer here they reared the force 10 oven and put a breville system in which is absolutely fantastic for cooking on a boat they added additional drawers over here port aft maximizing the storage here in the galley and while talking about maximizing storage they actually added this counter space here which gives you more than enough room for any kitchen appliance you could possibly want to have on board a boat and prior to adding that there was another shelf built so there's actually a kitchen pantry beneath this workspace here one final thing to point out in the galley is this eno three burner cooktop there's also large underfoot storage throughout the salon [Music] from the galley we're going to make our way down to the port hall and check out the two guest staterooms we're going to check out the port aft stateroom first which has got a semi walk around queen-size berth with an opening hatch above head as well as an opening port aft giving you plenty of ventilation while out cruising this stateroom is slightly larger than the one we find port forward as we make our way forward on the outboard side we've got the ensuite head with the separate shower stall continuing forward from there we get to the port ford state room which has got an almost identical head and a semi walk around berth one other thing worth mentioning is the panel for the water maker is located here in the port forward cabin we're gonna make our way across the salon over to the starboard side and check out the owner's stateroom all the way aft we have a semi walk around queen size berth very comparable to what we saw in the port aft cabin and from there the similarities end with this state room on the outboard side you've got an entire row of storage giving you more than adequate space to carry anything you can need to sail around the world moving forward from there we get to the head in the owner's stateroom which has got an expansive shower all the way forward and plenty of storage in the vanity and mirror as well as a vented washer dryer allowing you to do laundry no matter where you are in the world thank you guys so much for coming and spending a little bit of time on board zenobia with me i feel so fortunate to not only get to show you guys some of the coolest catamarans in the world but also ones that are incredibly unique and special like this boat the thought put into it the level of detail is something really really hard to find in a cruising catamaran if you have any questions on this boat i'll have the full spec sheet in the description down below leave me a comment and if you think this is the right boat for you definitely give me a shout on behalf of laura and myself i just want to thank you so much for watching this video and i can't wait to go sailing with you all again [Music] you
