I've been absolutely loving my Legion go for the past couple of weeks I just haven't put it down gaming on this 8.8 in display is just so immersive but the advantage of using a Windows handheld is the fact you're not limited to just this display I can easily plug it into a desktop setup or my 4K TV and as powerful as this little Apu is and it runs great perfectly on this 8.8 in display when you try and game on a 4K TV at 4K it's going to be an absolute slideshow so this is where the legion go pulls out its Ace card the USB 4 Port so the USB 4 is an incredibly versatile Port that allows for charging peripherals displays and an egpu and that's what we're going to be looking at today and if you haven't come across an egpu before it essentially makes this mobile handheld a fully fledged gaming PC by allowing you to add a graphics card and in our cases we've taken two we've got an RTX 4070 and a slightly older RTX 3060 TI and we're going to test both of these to see how well they work with our Legion go and just to show you how quick and easy it is to assemble any GPU we're going to build it now so first things first we grab our egpu we slide out the inner from the outer shell which instantly gives us access to the PCI slot for our egpu now I'm just going to pop in the 3060 TI you slide in your graphics card till it pops home and plug in the power cable we just put one screw back in slide it home and we're done we're now up and running just need to plug in the cables and we're good to go you're only really limited by the size of the graphics card you've got make sure it fits into the egpu you buy now I've actually managed to get hold of the Legion egpu but I have also tested the Razer chroma egpu and they're both great options they're both a good size to hold your graphics cards plus both the Le and the razor egpu have ports on the back so that you can actually plug in your keyboard your mouse as well as obviously your display and have that one cable set up for your legion go now once you plug your USB 4 cable into your legion go it should be plug and play but unfortunately it wasn't quite that simple but just to summarize I actually had to boot into safe mode I to uninstall the AMD Graphics drivers with a program called ddu which is free fortunate then I installed the Nvidia display drivers rebooted updated the AMD software again and we were good to go once you've done that fiddly process once you won't need to worry about doing it again and I've been using it now for quite some time both docked and then undocked and it has been performing absolutely Flawless since installing these drivers so then to see how well this EG performs with our Legion go we're going to run some benchmarks and to start with we use time spy and the 3060 TI and the 470 absolutely destroyed the inbuilt 780m as you'd expect and when you look at the results you can see that the 470 and the 360 TI aren't too far away where they would be if you had them in a desktop we also ran the far strike benchmarks which shows you what an incredible boost we're getting with both of these graphics cards especially in that 3D area because the CPU on these Legion goes is already pretty impressive and then on to game benchmarks and we started with shadow of the Tomb Raider now with Shadow the Tomb Raider it did run well it's 800p on the actual display here with the integrated Graphics but the joys of the egpu means we can now run at much higher resolutions and high settings and the 4070 provides some incredible performance at the monitor's native 1440p resolution but enough of Gams benchmarks I want to see how real games performs and we started with Battlefield which is a complete slideshow without an egpu running at 1440p and high settings on my 165 HZ monitor is an absolute incredible experience especially with the 40 7 installed I really do feel like I'm playing on a desktop PC and not a little handheld Apex or the finals work equally well proving that this handheld paired with an egpu could replace a desktop PC meaning you have a handheld for playing on the go and an egpu setup for when you're back at home and the fact that's just a one cable plugin to get this entire experience is the icing on the cake so to finish this video I just want to cruise around with a bit of cyber Punk and discuss its value while it's cheaper to build a desktop PC if you've already got a legion go adding an egpu and a graphics card really doesn't have to break the bank we picked up this egpu and graphics cards for $500 and this has given us an amazing desktop like experience while retaining the mobility of the Legion go when you're on the go so that's my thoughts on adding the egpu to the legion go as always I'd love to know what you guys think pop a comment down below and I will get back to you and lastly thanks for watching
